Eight-year-old West Marin resident Gabriel “Gabby” Diaz, who was severely injured last Wednesday after he lost control of his miniature dirt bike and swerved into oncoming traffic near Whitehouse Pool, is stable and recovering, family members say. “Gabby is doing well and he and his family are looking forward to a speedy recovery,” friends wrote in an email. “The outpouring of support from this community has been overwhelming and has sincerely touched the hearts of Gabby and his family.” Diaz was riding southbound when he lost control, hit a wood railing and collided head-on with a Ford pickup truck. He was airlifted to Oakland Children’s Hospital and treated for multiple injuries, including a broken pelvis. Family members expect Diaz to be released from the hospital by the end of this week. An account at Patelco Credit Union has been set up to help them cover medical costs in the coming months. Get well cards can be sent to Gabriel Diaz, PO Box 348, Inverness, CA 94937.
