Longtime West Marin resident and adroit reggae bassist Burton Eubank, known for his long red beard, began his tenure this week as the Dance Palace Community Center’s new technical director. Eubank, who has worn many hats over the years—as a cycling water meter reader, as a coach for the West Marin Youth Soccer League and as a volunteer fireman—replaces Jerry Lunsford, who resigned last month after 12 years of service. As technical director, Eubank will run the lights and sound and oversee all building and property maintenance. “[Burton] brings a depth of community involvement, technical skills and a great attitude that will greatly enhance everything we do,” wrote Executive Director Dan Mankin.
