Marin is still evaluating the purchase of the former San Geronimo Golf Course for use as a new fire department headquarters. In December, supervisors approved a second extension of the option agreement with the nonprofit owner, the Trust for Public Land. The agreement was first approved in December 2022, stipulating that the county would purchase the land for $4.5 million within 10 months, with two optional 90-day extensions. Last month, the county published a feasibility study, outlining five buildings, including a five-story training tower and a new headquarters with an apparatus bay. The environmental review determined the project would meet CEQA requirements, and public comment closed on Jan. 4. Officials told the board the extension was necessary because the county has not yet finished reviewing objections to the project. The county has until April 8 to purchase the property.
