The county has announced its intent to purchase a grassy lot at the south end of Point Reyes Station, at a cost of $485,000. Supervisor Dennis Rodoni said on Monday that the lot, where locals often park used cars for sale, is the first thing you see when coming into town, and it could serve multiple uses. The county could work with the parks department to open it to public access, he said, and Caltrans plans to use it as a staging area while it rebuilds the Green Bridge. The price was negotiated with the owner, the Donovan family trust.
