People with backgrounds in fishing or education are invited to apply for vacant seats of the advisory council of the Cordell Bank National Marine Sanctuary, one of over a dozen marine protected areas managed by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. The 14-member council ensures public participation in sanctuary management and provides advice to the sanctuary superintendent. One primary seat representing fishing interest and two alternate seats, representing fishing and education, respectively, are open to volunteers available to serve three-year terms. Candidates will be selected based on their expertise and experience related to the seat for which they are applying, community and professional affiliations, and knowledge of the protection and management of marine resources. The deadline to apply is September 30. To receive an application, or for more information, email Kaitlin Graiff, advisory council coordinator, at [email protected] or call (415) 663.0314 ext. 105. Applications can also be downloaded from cordellbank.noaa.gov.
