Three of West Marin’s cheese companies made their mark in this year’s American Cheese Society competition in Raleigh, North California. While over 254 companies from across the United States, Canada and Mexico submitted a record 1,711 entries, Point Reyes Farmstead Cheese, Cowgirl Creamery and Nicasio Valley Cheese stood out. Point Reyes Farmstead won a silver medal for its semi-hard Toma and a bronze for its Point Reyes New Blue; Cowgirl Creamery won a silver medal for its Red Hawk and a bronze for Wagon Wheel; Nicasio Valley Cheese was awarded a bronze medal for its Foggy Morning with Garlic and Basil.
