After demolishing Emery and St. Bernard’s in the first two games of the North Coast Section Division 5 playoffs, the Tomales Braves (9-3-1) faced their second consecutive championship game defeat to Hoopa Valley (9-3-0) at Humboldt State University Saturday with a final score of 27-8. The Santa Rosa Press Democrat reported that one of Tomales’ two star running backs, sophomore Anthony Feliciano, was taken out after a knee injury in the first half and the team struggled to orchestrate its typically impressive rushing offense against a fiercely competitive Hoopa Valley defense. “Hoopa’s very physical and they’ve got a lot of speed. Playing catch up isn’t our style,” Tomales Head Coach Leon Feliciano told the Press Democrat.
