John deLorimier, a father, a graphic designer and last year an assistant football coach at Mount Tamalpais High School who lives in Bolinas, was arrested last Friday and charged with possessing and sending child pornography. Mr. deLorimier, 72, is currently in custody, facing a bail of $1 million; a plea hearing in Marin County Superior Court is set for Wednesday, Jan. 22. Last month, the sheriff’s office received a report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, a nonprofit that receives significant federal funding to operate, of a possible suspect soliciting, receiving or sharing nude photographs of minors through an online platform. A subsequent investigation by the sheriff’s office led deputies to the Bolinas residence. On Friday morning, detectives served a search warrant at the home and subsequently arrested Mr. deLorimier, who was driving on the mesa at the time, after “a preliminary investigation into his personal electronic devices revealed material depicting obscene images of a minor,” a press release states. The sheriff’s office said the images did not appear to be of any minors who live in Marin, though all the evidence seized last Friday will undergo an additional forensic examination. Spokesman Brenton Schneider said the office will send its report to the district attorney, who will handle the case. Mr. deLorimier started a software development company, Kallisto Productions Inc., in 1992, where he served as the art director. Within the last year, he took at least two new jobs: in Vallejo as the technology and yearbook teacher at the Mare Island Technology Academy, and as an assistant football coach for the freshman and sophomore team at Tam High. J.C. Farr III, the principal of the school, and Matt Griffith, the superintendent of Griffith Technology Academy—a group of four charter schools in Vallejo—last week informed their communities of the arrest. Mr. Griffith said there had been no troubles with Mr. deLorimier’s employment, and that he had passed all background checks.
