Four people were lost to the sea last weekend when their 21-foot pleasure craft went missing during a fishing trip near Bodega Bay. On Saturday morning, the bodies of two deceased boaters washed up on the shoreline of Bird Rock at Tomales Point. The Marin County Sheriff’s Office identified the deceased as Diane Kelly, 61, of Windsor, and Richard Hargreaves, Jr., 59, of Santa Rosa. The Coast Guard suspended its search for the other two boaters at sunset on Saturday. The National Park Service and county responders continued searching 22 miles of coast on Sunday, from Tomales Point to the Point Reyes Headlands, but did not find the boaters. Fire Chief Jason Weber cautioned the large number of people visiting West Marin’s recreational areas to be aware of the risks involved with activities such as boating and kayaking. “Unfortunately, a lot of these people don’t have respect for the ocean,” he said. “The ocean is not forgiving.”
