Two people died after their 24-foot motor boat capsized at Great Beach near Abbotts Lagoon in Point Reyes National Seashore on Wednesday, leaving debris scattered a quarter-mile along the beach. A third person is missing. Authorities have not yet released the names of the boaters, who were most likely fishermen. Someone saw the boat at around 1 p.m. and called Coast Guard, which dispatched a rescue boat and helicopter. Marin County Fire Department sent rescue crews, but by 3 p.m. the rescue effort had turned to a recovery effort. The surf on Wednesday afternoon was relatively calm at Point Reyes, with waves reaching six to eight feet.
