The Marin County Registrar of Voters announced last week that district elections scheduled for November 5—a day that may feel farther away than it actually is—will determine who holds the numerous vacant seats on West Marin special district and school boards. Locally, there are two open seats on the boards of the Laguna Joint, Nicasio and Union Joint School Districts and three open seats on the boards of the Lagunitas, Shoreline Unified and Tamalpais Union High School Districts. There are three open seats on both the Tomales and Muir Beach Community Services District boards, two on the Stinson Beach Fire Protection District board, two on the Inverness Public Utility District board, three on the Bolinas Community Public Utility District board and two on the North Marin Water District board. The candidate nomination period opened Monday and closes August 9. Declaration of Candidacy forms can be picked up at the county elections office, Suite 121 at the Civic Center Administration Building, between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. through August 9.
