If you need to wet your whistle at the Old Western Saloon, don’t show up on June 10. That’s the day the bar will close for renovations for a few weeks as it transitions to new ownership. Don’t expect any radical changes; the upgrades will mostly be invisible to patrons. They are the sort of standard tweaks the county requires when a bar or restaurant changes hands. At the Western, these will include an upgrade to some appliances behind the bar, including the dishwasher and the refrigerator, according to Shannon Bell, supervisor of the county’s Environmental Health Services division. New tiles will be installed in the bathrooms and some modifications will be made to the lighting, plumbing and ventilation system.  New sinks will be installed behind the bar and the appliances must be raised six inches above the floor. Beyond that, the new owners will install a new sound system but are not planning any additional renovations of their own at this time. “We’re trying to keep the changes as minimal as possible to keep the vibe and keep it funky and affordable and just do what the county needs us to do to allow us to reopen,” said Jeremy D’Antonio, who is overseeing the project for the Point Reyes Good Luck Fund, which purchased the building in March. Founded by local tech entrepreneur Chris Hulls, the fund’s mission is to preserve historic downtown properties, support local businesses and sustain the unique culture of Point Reyes Station. Mr. D’Antonio, who sings and plays guitar in the local band San Geronimo, will remain on the Good Luck Fund staff after the renovations are complete. Among other duties, he will help book bands for the saloon. The fund had planned to take over the property in mid-May but decided to delay the transition to ensure that the saloon remains open on Western Weekend, when The Haggards will play. “We plan to reopen as soon as possible,” Mr. D’Antonio said. “We’re hoping it doesn’t take much more than three weeks.”
