Renovations targeted at making the Point Reyes Community Health Center accessible to people with disabilities are underway. Last month, county supervisors approved additional funds for the project.Pedro Toledo, the chief administrative officer of the Petaluma Health Center, which owns the clinic, said the work will conclude before the end of the year. The center received $90,000 for the project last year, but said escalating costs resulting from the pandemic required additional funding. The total county allocation of nearly $300,000 will  help bring patient restrooms up to bariatric standards, add an emergency pull cord in the waiting area restroom, place A.D.A.-accessible sinks in all patient exam rooms and install a push-to-open button at the main entrance. The Petaluma Health Center will fund the difference that might arise from plumbing, cabinet installation or other work. Approximately 15 percent of the clinic’s patients—nearly 500—are disabled and will benefit from this renovation. “We know that people in the community are in need of this renovation,” Mr. Toledo said.
