Local teens built a six-foot, true-to-scale Pacific leatherback sea turtle at Kehoe Beach on Tuesday as part of a photo contest sponsored by the Seashore Youth Ambassadors Project, which hopes to foster an interest in the park service and its lands among sixth through eight-graders. Guide Chris Pincetich, right, who formerly worked for the Turtle Island Restoration Network, also led the effort that resulted in the state adopting the endangered turtle as its official marine reptile in 2012.
