INVERNESS: A 5,400-gallon milk truck overturned along a shoulder of Sir Francis Drake Boulevard last Thursday, just a few yards down from the Light’s newsroom. No gas or milk was spilled, highway patrol said. The driver told officers he had been forced to veer to the shoulder to avoid a vehicle approaching close to the double yellow lines. Inverness Fire Chief Jim Fox said that while it’s rare for trucks to topple over there, smaller cars often slide off the shoulder and stay stuck in the muddy ditch. “Once you get a wheel off the side of the pavement around here, it goes bad really fast,” he said. A garbage truck flipped over in nearly the exact same spot in 1996.    Kathleen Goodwin
