First gay marriage in Marin County

Avatar by David Briggs July 3, 2013

Ken Raith and Keith Pepper walk from county clerk's office to a courtyard at the Marin County Civic Center on Monday. The couple exchanged vows hours after the Supreme Court rejected a plea from Proposition 8 supporters to halt the issuance of same-sex marriage licenses. The American Canyon residents, together for 22 years, arrived at the clerk’s office at 5 a.m. They became the first gay couple to wed in Marin since a small window of time in 2008. David Briggs
