TOMALES BAY: Helen McLaren’s wish that her property return “to the birds” came one step closer to reality on Tuesday when crews began demolishing a home and small shed on land she bequeathed to Audubon Canyon Ranch when she died in 2012. The two-acre parcel abuts Shields Marsh in Inverness, and will be added to it. This week marked the start of a two-year recovery process in which non-native trees will be removed and replaced with new plants, supplied by Larner Seeds of Bolinas.
