Tule reed rafts

TULE REEDS: Two rafts made of tule reeds were sent afloat at Hearts Desire beach on Tomales Bay last Saturday. Used by native Miwok tribes but now in short supply, the reeds are kept buoyant by inner air chambers and lashed together with grapevine.   David Briggs
