THE 7TH ANNUAL VETERANS DAY SERVICE AT THE OLEMA CEMETERY — NOVEMBER 7, 2015
This year, the Honor Guard Unit from the Coast Guard’s Two Rock Training Center assisted the community in celebrating Veteran’s Day at the Olema Cemetery, where close to 100 military veterans are buried. As in years past, roll call was conducted by a team of veterans—this year Terry Aleshire, Tony Torrance, Tom Knuepfel and Al Crivelli—and prayers were offered by Father Schiblin of Sacred Heart Church. Led by Laura Marcoux, those in attendance sang the National Anthem and God Bless America and offered their personal remembrances of a beloved deceased veteran. Navy veteran bugler Ken Weir, of Sunnyvale, returned this year to play reveille and taps, and Terry Aleshire concluded the service with a traditional bagpipe performance of Amazing Grace. Special guests of honor this year included the Blue Star Moms of Marin and 90-year-old retired Navy Captain John Clark Wold, in full dress uniform.
