WHEN CHUCK RAYMOND CAUGHT A 1-TON GREAT WHITE SHARK OFF OF POINT REYES
— SEPTEMBER 1976

Chuck, pictured with his son Tyore, had to shoot this 2,000-pound great white shark for fear of his life when it came up to his small fishing boat. In those years, shark was a popular fish and was used like cod for smoking, for fish and chips and even for fish steaks. This shark was sold to the butcher at the Palace Market for just that reason… of course, after it was displayed on ice in front of Toby’s Feed Barn for all to see.
