EZ’S LEMONADE STAND — THE END-OF-TREATMENT PARTY AT THE LITTLE YELLOW HOUSE AND THE WEST MARIN COMMONS IN DOWNTOWN POINT REYES STATION
“Thank you, West Marin, for your continued support of our family. Last Sunday, the community came together to celebrate Ezequiel Mason Powell’s completion of cancer treatment. In January 2014, EZ was diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare pediatric cancer. His cancer was Stage 4, had spread to his lungs and spine and was inoperable. Three weeks after his diagnosis, EZ’s father, Ron Powell, died in his sleep. The diagnosis, compounded by my husband’s death, made an already difficult situation even more challenging. EZ endured over a year of chemotherapy and 53 radiation treatments. Today, he is showing great promise in his healing process. In honor of our experience, our family was asked to represent pediatric cancer families for California during Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation’s annual Lemonade Days fundraiser. Together we raised $12,698 to fund research for pediatric cancer treatment. We’re fighting childhood cancer, one cup at a time.” Alex Porrata-Powell, June 2015
