D.J. WILLIAM “CRICKET” KOLB BROADCASTING “CRICKET’S RADIO SHOW” LIVE ON KWMR WITH SOUND ENGINEER JAMIE CRESPO

Cricket, age 13, who is pictured on the right, is one of the students in the KWMR Youth DJ Project. He plays his favorite music, tunes from the 1940’s and 50’s, on Tuesdays at 4:30 pm. Music host Jaime Crespo, pictured left, provides the sound engineering. Program Director Lyons Filmer, behind the soundproof glass, leads the project. KWMR created this opportunity to increase the number of youths involved with radio by giving them “a voice on the air.” The Youth DJ Project goes year-round. Some students are summer-only and some just during the school year. They come to KWMR from West Marin youth centers and Marin high schools. Over 35 kids have participated since the project began with just three kids in 2002. This year, four more new students started in June.
