A COMMUNITY FUNDRAISER AT THE TOWN COMMONS IN DOWNTOWN POINT REYES STATION
People who live in West Marin and other towns in California gathered at the West Marin Commons for a fundraiser to help build a senior housing complex in their hometown of Cojumamatlán de Régueles, in Michoacán, Mexico. The event, open to the public, included traditional music and food as well as local oysters donated by Tomales Bay and Hog Island Oyster Companies. Father Chucho, a priest from their village, joined them and held a Mass later that evening at Sacred Heart Church in Olema. Almost $2,500 was raised to help finish the building complex, which should be completed by December. Since the renovation of the Commons in April 2014, the Little Yellow House and the grounds have been available for community use through the website westmarincommons.org.
