Bennett charges Dr. Goodman

Save our Seashore President Gordon Bennett claimed last week that biologist Dr. Corey Goodman’s 144-page analysis of a recent Point Reyes National Seashore study used “faulty data, faulty analysis, baseless accusations, meaninglessly tautological statistics and unverifiable data withheld from NPS and other reviewers.” The accusations were part of a five-page letter Bennett sent to the Marine Mammal Commission, which is currently reviewing that study’s findings that oyster cultivation displaces harbor seals in Drakes Estero. Goodman, asked at a presentation on Sunday about the allegations, called them “baseless.” Marine Mammal Commission Executive Director Tim Ragen did not comment on whether his agency is taking the claims seriously.
