Through her Imagination Library, Dolly Parton extended her reach all the way from Tennessee to West Marin. More than 3 million kids across the country receive free books each month through her early childhood literacy program; in Marin, 1,300 kids participate in the program, and nearly 10,000 more are eligible to join it. The Marin County Free Library joined the program this summer, two months before Parton’s death in Nashville last week, at age 80.
