A 37-year-old Los Angeles woman drowned on Saturday when the canoe she and her partner were paddling in Tomales Bay overturned amid heavy winds and churning waters.
A resident looking across the bay reported the incident, which occurred across from the Marshall Store, near Sacramento Landing, just after 6 p.m.
Witnesses said the wind had picked up dramatically shortly before that time.
