San Geronimo Valley voters last month approved a special tax to support the Lagunitas School District by the largest margin ever. According to the latest count, Measure A claimed 78 percent of the vote, surpassing the 72 percent the measure received in 2017, the last time it was on the ballot. “Receiving 78 percent of the vote was extremely gratifying and a huge relief,” said superintendent Kathleen Graham, who had worried that economic anxieties about inflation might dampen support for the measure, which voters have now renewed four times. “The voters of San Geronimo Valley truly came through for our school.” Measure A, an $850 per parcel tax, provides more than 20 percent of the district’s budget. It extends the tax for nine years and include a 4 percent annual cost-of-living adjustment. The money pays for teacher salaries, classroom instructional aides, school libraries and other programs that directly support students.
