The Point Reyes Light is seeking a reporter to join our small brick-and-mortar newsroom in Inverness. We are a family-owned, weekly print newspaper covering the environmental, agricultural, cultural and civic life of coastal Marin’s dozen rural communities. We are looking for a core team member with excellent research and writing skills, the ability to tackle complex government policy issues, verve, resilience, and a willingness to work hard. Spanish language fluency is a plus. Our reporters write at least two stories and a few shorts each week—roughly 2,400 words—in hard news and features, following New York Times style guidelines. They meet tight rolling deadlines, attend regular community and government meetings, proofread, represent a historical newspaper with professionalism and care, and assist in weekly newspaper deliveries. Newsroom experience is required. Applicants must own a car and be able to relocate to West Marin. Please send a resume, references, a cover letter and at least four clips to Tess Elliott at [email protected]

The Light is also looking to expand its network of freelance reporters. Are you interested in coastal Marin, its stories and our work? Please send a resume, references, a cover letter and several clips to Tess Elliott at [email protected]
