Tomales Fire Station set to be rebuilt

SAFETY: Marin County has set aside roughly $8 million for a complete renovation of the Tomales Fire Station. Construction is set to begin next spring, and officials say response times will not be compromised.

VANDALISM: Inverness Tennis club members arrived on Monday to find the Porta-Potty at the Second Valley court crushed against an alder tree several yards from its original location. Club member Terry Aleshire suspects that teens rammed a vehicle into it.

ART: Photographer Todd Pickering’s new gallery, Still Point Studio, opened on weekends earlier this month in Inverness Park. He greeted guests last weekend during the area’s Memorial Day open studios event, and hopes to host more people at artist’s talks in the future.

Point Reyes Station to get signs, and one more crosswalk

PEDESTRIANS: Responding to a request from the village association, Caltrans will install a crosswalk at the south end of Point Reyes and pedestrian signs at both ends of town in the coming months. A request for a three-way stop at Levee Road was denied.
