Skip Vilicich, whose family has owned the Marshall boatyard for a century, on Saturday celebrated the launch of a 36-foot boat fitted to service moorings, after six years of restoration. His sister, Susan Welch, broke a champagne bottle over the bow to christen the craft, which was orginally built to carry small military equipment to beaches. At one point in its past, a Point Reyes Station businessman owned the boat, and he would haul dozens of friends and party supplies to local beaches for carousing. The Response, as it’s now called, will service moorings under the new Tomales Bay mooring program.
