New idea for pharmacy

West Marin Pharmacy owner Zsuzsanna Biran has an idea that she believes could sustain her business while offering members of her Point Reyes community access to affordable medicine. The idea is a buying club—sort of. She envisions it working like this: Members would pay a monthly fee—say $38 per month—and in return receive discounts on certain medications—likely generic brands to start, and then adding more expensive names as more people sign on—as well as various health-promoting pharmacy supplies. Biran has had the idea for a while, but has not yet had the time to develop it fully. Would it be legal? How many people would have to sign on? How would the tracking of member benefits and monthly payments be handled? She doesn’t know. But, she said, “If someone is willing to take it on I would be really interested in participating.”
