Dr. Bob, a pastor for everyone

David Briggs
Bob Grove, a Napa resident, is known for holding memorial services for local street people. Friend Don Smith, of Bolinas, said he has learned from Pastor Bob that “no matter how gruff and difficult an impression somebody might make on you, there’s a reason behind that, they have a story—it’s their struggle with life. If you can look beyond that, you will find they have a heart.”

Parishioners of Calvary Presbyterian Church celebrated Pastor Bob Grove on Sunday with an appreciation potluck. Pastor Bob, who has given sermons in Bolinas and at the Stinson Beach Presbyterian Church since 2000, is known for his kind counsel, which he extends to the most marginalized people.
After receiving a small grant to help local homeless he began hosting weekly breakfasts at the community center; he calls his ministry inclusive of those living “on the edge” and describes his flock as caring and supportive of one another.
