Audubon Canyon Acquires Land


Audubon Canyon Ranch (ACR), a leading North Bay foundation for the preservation of nature, acquired 1,620 acres of land in the Mayacamas Mountains from the National Audubon Society last week. Located above the Alexander Valley, near Healdsburg, the Sonoma County Agricultural Preservation and Open Space District protected land is home to an abundance of native animals and animals, including black bear, mountain lion, golden eagle and numerous other sensitive species. “ACR’s science team is intimately familiar with the region... [and] will bring insights and 50 years of experience that will be applied to monitoring and managing the ecosytems of this special area,” Scott Feierabend, executive director of ACR, said. Utilizing its extensive expertise in conservation science, habitat protection and restoration, “ACR will ensure that our neighbors and local communities benefit from the clean water, clean air, healthy soils, and native plants and animals that its landscapes provide.”
