Vandals hit Pt. Reyes preschool
Vandals again last Wednesday struck the Papermill Creek Childrens Corner in Point Reyes Station.
Preschool staff told sheriffs deputies the vandals sprayed graffiti on several walls, partly pulled down and burned holes in a canopy, and broke into the preschool where they set off a fire extinguisher inside the bathroom.
The preschool was also vandalized shortly before Halloween when holiday decorations were torn down and pumpkins being grown by preschoolers were smashed.
"This has gone on too long," center spokeswoman Meg Frye told The Light. "It may seem like little things, small tears, cigarette burns, graffiti, but we cant afford to fix any of it."
Frye said the nonprofit, which provides daycare at nominal cost to many West Marin families, has been plagued with cases of petty vandalism for almost a year.
"Basically, this needs to stop now," she told The Light Friday. "We need the communitys help."
One way residents can give to the center is by purchasing a Christmas Tree and decorations at Tobys Feed Barn. Starting Friday, Nov. 28, money from tree and wreath sales will benefit the center.
