Light contest for heavy zukes
The annual Light Contest for heavy Zucchini is underway. West Marin youngsters have until Sept. 24 to bring zucchini grown in their family garden to the newspaper. The heaviest will win $20.
Youngsters will be photographed with their entries, and photos of all youngsters will be published in the Sept. 27 issue of The Light.
Because the number of entries has increased every year, taking all the photos can create scheduling problems for Light staff, so photographs will be taken only on Mondays and Fridays between 9:30 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Before youngsters come to The Light for photographing, they need to stop by Indian Peach Food Company (the delicatessen in the Tomales Bay Foods Building of Point Reyes Station) to have their zucchinis officially weighed.
Youngsters planning to be photographed on Mondays need to get their zucchinis weighed on Fridays, Saturdays, or Sundays because the deli is closed on Mondays.
