Park ducks charges, NAS disavows note

The director of the National Park Service has so far succeeded in ducking charges of scientific misconduct in part due to a personal communiqué from a North Carolina professor in need of a
favor.

Dr. Charles “Pete” Peterson exonerated Jon Jarvis of allegations of scientific misconduct in an email last May. Peterson chairs the National Academy of Sciences committee that reviewed claims made by Point Reyes National Seashore officials about the oyster farm in Drakes Estero.
