STINSON BEACH - A motorist reported that another driver, who had followed him down Panoramic Highway, argued with him and hit him in the jaw when they got to town.

DILLON BEACH - A thief stole cash, gold earrings, and a Walkman radio from a woman's overnight bag, which she had left in front of her tent.

FALLON - Deputies were called in to quell a domestic dispute. No one was assaulted, but officers took a weapon for safekeeping.

STINSON BEACH - A burglar forced his way into a house on Seadrift Road, apparently threw a party, left the house a mess, and stole items when he departed.

BOLINAS - A man got into an argument with two juveniles on Wharf Road at 1:15 a.m. He told deputies one of them hit him in the head with a skateboard. Officers arrested the 52-year-old man on a warrant from Mendocino County involving a traffic case.

NICASIO - A woman found shards of glass in her dogs' kennel and told deputies she believes a neighbor may have put them there.

BOLINAS - Deputies arrested a homeless woman on charges of public drunkenness.

OLEMA VALLEY - Deputies arrested an Inverness man on a court warrant.

BOLINAS - Deputies on Wharf Road arrested a man on warrants, for which the bail totaled $10,000.

INVERNESS - A man lost his cellular phone at Tomales Bay State Park when he forgot to take it off the top of his car before driving off.

LAGUNITAS - After a man notified deputies of an apparently abandoned vehicle on Alta Avenue, the owner called and threatened him, the man reported.

WOODACRE - Someone left in the postoffice a bunch of leaflets slandering a Woodacre resident.

FOREST KNOLLS - Deputies received a complaint of juveniles playing basketball on Guadalupe Place at 1:15 a.m. Officers dispersed them.

DILLON BEACH - A boat being trailered overturned, blocking Dillon Beach Road.

WOODACRE - Deputies booked a woman for failing to appear in court to face drug charges.

WOODACRE - Two women got into a quarrel, and one accused the other of assaulting her three-year-old daughter. Deputies concluded there was no merit to the complaint.

SAN GERONIMO - A Nicasio Valley Road man reported his car's cellular phone was missing. He said he had last seen it while in San Anselmo.

RED ROCK - A vehicle was burglarized by six or seven young men riding in what may have been a rental car. Deputies referred the case to the Highway Patrol.

MARSHALL - A resident stopped to help a stranded motorist on the Marshall-Petaluma Road, only to have a woman in her 30s and wearing a red, white, and blue swimsuit begin screaming at him. He told deputies her car was parked in a hazardous location.

INVERNESS PARK - A woman reported her 17-year-old daughter missing and possibly in Tomales. After the girl was returned home, she tried to leave the next day without her mother's permission. Deputies took her to a county juvenile facility.

INVERNESS - A man, who had been drinking, reported a cat dragging its rear end on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard. When deputies checked, there was no cat, but they did find a "wobbly skunk." It, however, was "okay," they noted.

BOLINAS - Deputies received a complaint of loud music at Locust and Poplar roads at 3 a.m. All was quiet when officers arrived.

WOODACRE - A woman complained of a small, gray BMW speeding down Fire Road.

TOMALES - A 17-year-old boy from town was found by police in Arkansas.

WOODACRE - A caller complained of loud people on Central Avenue, lots of vehicles, and of objects being thrown around. However, the caller was uncooperative with deputies, and the loud people had dispersed before officers arrived.

BOLINAS - A woman told deputies four people may be living illegally in a house on Mesa Road. Officers referred her to the Planning Department.

FOREST KNOLLS - Deputies received a complaint that a man wearing a ponytail and driving a Volkswagen bus "doesn't keep his clothes on." Officers checked the man's identification and released him.

FOREST KNOLLS - A man asked deputies to stand by while he recovered some items from the property of another man. The man said the resident had left a threatening note on the man's doorstep.

POINT REYES STATION - A resident complained twice about "loud music and bad singing" coming from a woman's house on Knob Hill Road. When deputies called her, she agreed to keep the noise down.

HICKS VALLEY - Deputies received a report of a loose cow on Hicks Valley Road but could not find it.

WOODACRE - A man said that someone, whom he knows, tried to hit him with a vehicle on Park Street. A deputy gave the man advice.

POINT REYES STATION - A former West Marin resident left his backpack outside the Creamery Building. When he returned, the pack containing airline tickets to New York, clothing, two compact disks, and three videotapes was gone. The loss was estimated at $400.

INVERNESS PARK - A merchant left an envelope containing $700 on a table. He believes his cleaning crew inadvertently threw it out.

OLEMA - A resident placed a 47-year-old man under citizen's arrest on prowling charges after the man was found inside the enclosed front porch of the resident's house at night.

POINT REYES STATION - A thief stole a no-vacancy sign and a phone-number sign from the yard of a bed-and-breakfast inn.

INVERNESS PARK - A Vallejo Avenue resident said someone threw rocks or dirt at her son and three friends while they were on Portola Avenue. Two boys received minor injuries. Deputies said they would assign extra patrols to the area.

FOREST KNOLLS - A week ago a burglar entered a Tamal Road home through its cat door. This past week, the resident said the cat door has since been boarded up, but she believes the burglar tried to use it again. Deputies who checked said there was no evidence of an attempted second break-in.

STINSON BEACH - A man thought he heard a woman on Buena Vista Avenue crying, "He has a gun." He said he also heard a loud thud.

TOMALES - A woman and her ex-husband got into a dispute over his spraying around water from a well they share. A deputy gave her advice.

WOODACRE - A man reported that two men had stopped their vehicle in his driveway but left when he came outside. He suspected they were eyeing his mechanical woodsplitter.

INVERNESS - A woman reported her 15-year-old son had verbally abused her in the parking lot of Chicken Ranch Beach.

STINSON BEACH - A woman on Alameda Patio reported a bonfire near dune grass and people setting off fireworks. A deputy contacted juveniles, who put out the fire but claimed someone else had set off the fireworks.

NICASIO - Deputies stopped people canoeing on the reservoir and counseled them.

WOODACRE - Deputies received a complaint of several children playing in an abandoned building and making noise. After an officer admonished them, they left.

INVERNESS - Deputies responding to two complaints of loud music from a restaurant found a vehicle that had hit a tree. They summoned paramedics.

NICASIO - A man called deputies after his girlfriend returned home and saw lights in his barn windows. The lights turned out to be reflections from his residence.

BOLINAS - Deputies cited a 16-year-old boy on charges of being out of parental control.

BOLINAS - A vandal broke handles off several school buses during the night.

NICASIO - Deputies unsuccessfully looked for a pot patch near the county corporation yard.

FOREST KNOLLS - A man reported that license plate tags had been stolen off his vehicle parked on Guadalupe Place.

STINSON BEACH - A deputy tagged a small bulldozer to be towed away after it was abandoned in the Calles for a week.

FOREST KNOLLS - A man reported having a dispute with his girlfriend and having kicked in her door while leaving. He asked deputies to check on her welfare. Officers determined the two had not had a physical fight.

POINT REYES STATION - A man found a fanny pack containing credit cards and $200 in cash, which belonged to an Albuquerque woman.

FOREST KNOLLS - A woman complained of loud music along Sir Francis Drake Boulevard.

DILLON BEACH - A man said he filed a stolen-property report in 1980 and told a deputy at the time where the property was. However, he said, he never got the loot back and was exiled from California by the county Probation Department. He asked an officer for advice.

FOREST KNOLLS - A Tamal Road resident repeatedly complained about a barking dog.

WOODACRE - Three callers complained of cherry bombs or shotgun blasts after midnight.

FOREST KNOLLS - A woman reported hearing shouts from a neighbor's house but said she could not tell if the shouters were adults or teenagers.

POINT REYES STATION - A man complained of fireworks at Mesa Road and Highway 1.

MARSHALL-PETALUMA RD. - A deputy asked a rancher if he was the person who placed rocks on a cattleguard near the Soulajule Reservoir.

STINSON BEACH - A 31-year-old man told deputies that a second man, whom he had met in Bolinas, had gone home to drink, threatening that he could "ice" him and "bury [him] in the yard." Deputies, however, took the first man into custody for public drunkenness but arranged for him to be released when sober.

BOLINAS - A burglar stole toll-bridge passes from a woman's car, which was parked on Birch Road.

INVERNESS PARK - A man and woman received an obscene phone call from a teenager.

POINT REYES STATION - A woman complained that a vandal had entered a tack shed on Viento Way, thrown the saddles around, and painted obscenities on the walls.

BOLINAS - A thief stole a woman's $450 rowboat, which had been moored in Bolinas Lagoon near Wharf Road.

BOLINAS - A deputy found a small amount of marijuana and four pot pipes, which he took for destruction.

STINSON BEACH - A thief stole a man's backpack, which contained a camera, $500 in cash, and his passport.

BOLINAS - A deputy took a drunk man into custody and transported him to a detoxification center in San Rafael.

NICASIO - A thief stole a flag off a Lucas Valley Road woman's flagpole.

MARSHALL - A van driven by a man knocked down the toll booth for Miller Park at Nick's Cove. The man disappeared but left the van behind. Deputies referred the case to the Highway Patrol.

BOLINAS - An unknown person struck and broke the window of a woman's car as she drove along Mesa Road.

BOLINAS - Deputies found a drunk girl at the firehouse, cited her, and released her to her father.

BOLINAS - A deputy cited a 17-year-old boy on charges of possessing a small amount of marijuana and driving a motorcycle without a helmet.

INVERNESS - A man found an abandoned bicycle in Second Valley. A deputy took it to the sheriff's substation for safekeeping.

BOLINAS - Someone vandalized a merchant's vending machine and stole numerous items.

BOLINAS - A man complained that a second man, 33, pushed him twice and knocked him to the ground along Olema-Bolinas Road.

FOREST KNOLLS - Deputies gave advice in a landlord/tenant dispute and called county firefighters about a hazard.

WOODACRE - A burglar entered a woman's house through a bedroom window while she was away and stole $200.

POINT REYES STATION - A woman sought advice from deputies after having problems with a former co-worker.

NICASIO - Deputies received a report of a loose cow on Lucas Valley Road near Big Rock but could not find it.

LAGUNITAS - A man reported that another man had hit him with a roll of quarters and had slashed his tires before driving off toward Fairfax.

TOCALOMA - A vehicle overturned on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard east of town, injuring two people.

LAGUNITAS - A woman told deputies her daughter's boyfriend, who has a history of violence, might be heading toward their house. The daughter, 21, had fled. Officers could not find the man.

STINSON BEACH - A tourist locked himself out of his rental car. Deputies arranged for Park Service rangers to help the man jimmy the lock.

TOMALES - A man and woman, who had both been drinking, got into a quarrel. Deputies separated the two, who agreed to leave each other alone.

BOLINAS - Deputies received a report that a vehicle hit a deer at the wye, but officers could not find it.

FOREST KNOLLS - A woman, whose wallet and keys were stolen in San Francisco, asked for extra patrols around her house.

BOLINAS - Deputies received a report of a man and dog sleeping near the intersection of Horseshoe Hill and Olema-Bolinas roads. The caller thought the man might need medical attention, but officers determined he didn't.

WOODACRE - A vandal blew up a newspaper-delivery tube along Redwood Drive.

LAGUNITAS - An anonymous caller complained of a naked man on a beach, hassling children, and acting inappropriately. A deputy cited the man.

POINT REYES STATION - A woman found a wallet belonging to a Healdsburg woman.

LAGUNITAS - A merchant complained that an employee was "going crazy." Although he was not violent, the employee was "mouthing off" and disturbing customers, the merchant said.

POINT REYES STATION - A man said his ex-wife plans to sell family property at a yard sale despite a court's temporary restraining order. After the ex-wife was served with the TRO, she called off the sale.

POINT REYES STATION - A merchant asked how to get vehicles towed from a private parking lot.

OLEMA - A merchant said she feels threatened by strange calls and suspects another female merchant is responsible.

OLEMA - A third female merchant said she feels intimidated by a man she just fired. The merchant also complained about chronic illegal parking in her lot.

INVERNESS PARK - A woman said she was driving when a man on a motorbike told her a large man in a blue t-shirt had threatened his life. Deputies referred the case to the Highway Patrol.

OLEMA - Two men riding in a Honda Civic were throwing lots of garbage - cans, bottles, and bags - out their window when a woman driving behind them started honking. They then aimed their garbage at her, she said. Deputies referred the incident to the Highway Patrol.

BOLINAS - A woman on Brighton Avenue twice complained of youths with firecrackers. When deputies checked after the second call, they found no fireworks and admonished "all parties."

POINT REYES STATION - A woman called deputies to complain that a second woman, who is in her 40s and has a history of violence, had been visiting the first woman's sister on Campolindo Drive and was now refusing to leave. After the call, the second woman left.

POINT REYES STATION - Deputies received a complaint of juveniles jumping off the Green Bridge despite signs prohibiting it. Officers could not find the jumpers.

BOLINAS - A real estate agent reported that two teenagers without permission were sleeping in a house for sale. However, the youths left when asked.

INVERNESS - A woman complained of two youths setting off firecrackers behind the postoffice.

DILLON BEACH - A man told officers that he and some friends were jumped and hit with crowbars following a Fourth of July bonfire. All parties were gone when deputies arrived.

BOLINAS - A drunk man wandered away from a party on Mesa Road at 1 a.m. Concerned that the man was drunk and wearing only lightweight clothes, his friends went looking for him and notified deputies.

BOLINAS - Deputies found a husband and wife sleeping in their car and cited them on charges of public drunkenness.

WOODACRE - A Ford Explorer ran off Madrone Avenue and hit a house. Deputies notified the Highway Patrol.

POINT REYES STATION - A private school had vehicle problems and left the vehicle in front of a garage. Garage workers then complained the vehicle was blocking their service bays.

STINSON BEACH - A woman on Arenal Avenue complained of people setting off fireworks.

BOLINAS - A resident reported that a drunken man in his 30s was refusing to leave the resident's property and that a quarrel had erupted. However, the quarrel was abated before deputies arrived.

DOGTOWN - Deputies received a report of a loose cow on Highway 1 but could not find it.

BOLINAS - A woman found two tents on her property and branches cut on her trees. She put the campers' shovels and tools in her basement. Deputies gave advice to her and the campers.

NICASIO - A vandal broke out the windows of a woman's vehicle parked on the Point Reyes-Petaluma Road.

OLEMA - Deputies received a report of a loose cow on Highway 1 south of town. The Highway Patrol was advised.

NICASIO - Deputies received a report of several loose cows on Lucas Valley Road west of Big Rock. Officers notified the Highway Patrol, which rounded the animals up.

DILLON BEACH - A thief stole a man's tackle box and ice chests during the night.

MARSHALL - Someone damaged a rock barrier at the end of a bridge along the Marshall-Petaluma Road, leaving rocks strewn about.

BOLINAS - Two males parked a truck on the beach and went Jet Skiing. A resident asked that the truck be removed from the beach.

July 3, 1996 Sheriff's Calls

INVERNESS PARK - A deputy cited a homeless man, 43, from Lagunitas for tenting on public land at Sir Francis Drake Boulevard and Balboa Avenue.

INVERNESS - An 85-year-old man with Alzheimer's disease wandered away from home. A neighbor found the man downtown and took him back to his house.

TOMALES - A burglar entered a First Street home and stole four checks and credit cards from a man. The culprit charged goods on the credit cards and cashed bad checks in Sonoma County.

DILLON BEACH - A thief stole an outboard motor, generator, and a fishing pole.

MARSHALL - A thief in San Francisco stole a license plate from a local oyster company's truck.

SAN GERONIMO - While dispersing a crowd of juveniles at a home on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard, deputies found four youths who were absent without leave from a group home in San Anselmo. Officers arranged for staff from the home to pick the four up.

BOLINAS - A week ago, a vandal used a marking pen to scrawl a peace symbol on a school window. In investigating further, a deputy determined a tape-cassette player was stolen during the crime.

POINT REYES STATION - A vandal smashed the windshields of two cars parked along the Point Reyes-Petaluma Road.

WOODACRE - A woman at 3 a.m. heard male voices talking about a car and somebody's arm being cut up. She then saw males running past her house. She noted her own car had been vandalized two weeks earlier.

PLATFORM BRIDGE - A citizen heard seven gunshots.

POINT REYES STATION - A motorist, who had previously threatened to break two women's necks, tried to run down her friends outside a saloon. Deputies said the man was driving a white Chevrolet Blazer.

BOLINAS - A woman, whose dog had been attacked by a man's pit bull-mix, was unhappy he had not paid her veterinarian bills. A deputy, who mediated between them, got him to agree to pay part of the bill now and part when he has more money. He also said he would take his dog out of town. The officer said he would follow up on the case.

NATIONAL SEASHORE - A woman reported that her husband, 38, and son, 10, had not returned from trying to scale a cliff at Kehoe Beach.

BOLINAS - Two residents complained about a loud party with a live band at 11 p.m. in the area of Cherry Drive and Laurel Road.

LAGUNITAS - Deputies received a report of two loud couples drinking beside a creek in Samuel P. Taylor Park at 1:30 a.m. A state ranger said he would handle the problem, but a woman then complained the ranger wanted them to pour out their beer.

LAGUNITAS - A woman complained that a man taunted her dog, and when she asked him to stop, he became verbally abusive to her. She said he left walking up a creekbed.

OLEMA - A burglar stole $2,000 worth of power tools from a vehicle parked at the Olema Hill Trailhead.

STINSON BEACH - A woman reported another driver's vehicle had scraped hers in a parking lot. The case was referred to the Highway Patrol.

WOODACRE - A woman reported that a 19-year-old girl hadn't returned home from the San Rafael Farmers Market.

WOODACRE - A man complained that his neighbor's tenants keep looking in his window. He said he is not on speaking terms with the neighbor.

BOLINAS - A man wearing pants but no shirt told a deputy that two people had stolen his drugs. Officers were unable to find the pair.

MARSHALL - A deputy on the Marshall-Petaluma Road found a vehicle with its ignition punched out. A check determined the vehicle had not been stolen.

INVERNESS - A woman reported that a man carrying a hammer had asked her for a candle. Deputies noted the man had also asked the woman's neighbor for a candle.

LAGUNITAS - A man complained that four or five people in their late 20s were sitting around a fire on a hearth that was almost out of control. Deputies determined the location was a well-known party pad.

OLEMA - A man saw another man chase a 10-year-old boy and force him into a car. A deputy determined the second man was merely a father having problems with his two sons.
