November 24, 2004 Sheriff's Calls
INVERNESS The Highway Patrol at 10:19 p.m. Sunday notified deputies it had received an anonymous call that apparently concerned a verbal disturbance. A CHP officer had heard yelling and swearing in the background. After the CHP traced the call to a mans home in Inverness, a deputy checked on the situation.
LAGUNITAS A resident at 9:54 a.m. Sunday told deputies an American flag had been stolen off the fence at her home Saturday afternoon.
OLEMA A woman at 11:45 a.m. Sunday notified deputies that at least one black-and-white cow was loose on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard. She said this was a traffic hazard since the cow or cows were on a blind curve. A deputy called a ranch and was told the rancher was already en route to round up the cow(s). By the time a deputy arrived on the scene, there were no loose cows to be found.
INVERNESS A woman at 1:10 p.m. Sunday reported receiving harassing phone calls from a man she doesnt know.
POINT REYES STATION Deputies at 5:33 p.m. Sunday were summoned to Highway 1 just south of Point Reyes-Petaluma Road following an unusual traffic mishap. A deputy told The Light a northbound car swerved to avoid a deer on the highway, causing a southbound car to swerve into a roadside ditch. A third motorist stopped to help, and his car also slid into the ditch. A towtruck was needed to free both cars from the ditch. There was no significant damage to any of the vehicles, the deputy said.
WOODACRE A resident at 8:07 p.m. Saturday notified deputies she had heard a noise downstairs and asked them to check her property.
BOLINAS Deputies at 9:36 p.m. Saturday received a complaint about a "large reggae party" on Wharf Road. A deputy, who was dispatched for crowd control, later reported, "Roadway cleared."
BOLINAS An anonymous man calling from a phone booth notified deputies at 11:54 p.m. Saturday that a relative had seen people using and selling marijuana and methamphetamine near downtown.
DILLON BEACH A man on Cypress Avenue called the Highway Patrol at 12:02 a.m. Sunday to report a man and woman in a parked pickup truck were arguing. He said he had heard the man hit the woman.
BOLINAS Deputies at 1:07 a.m. Sunday received a report that two men had been fighting along Wharf Road. Officers were told one man was fleeing on foot and the other was on the ground. However, the second man subsequently fled the scene, and deputies dispersed a crowd of juveniles who headed toward Brighton Beach.
LAGUNITAS A resident at 1:38 a.m. Sunday told deputies he had caught a 36-year-old woman "sneaking around" on his property. He said was he was concerned because of a recent burglary, adding that the woman was carrying a purse.
OLEMA A woman at 8:17 a.m. Friday reported a loose calf in traffic lanes at Bear Valley Road and Highway 1. Deputies called a rancher and was told workers were herding the calf back into its pasture.
INVERNESS PARK A resident at 9:54 a.m. Friday reported checks had been stolen from her house, and one had already been cashed for $89. She said a neighbor had seen a flashlight around her house at 3 a.m. The resident noted that in October a burglar had broken into her house and had broken a bathroom sink.
BOLINAS A women Friday reported a car had hit a parked vehicle at Cedar and Elm roads. She said a man was having trouble breathing, and his vehicle had a broken axle.
STINSON BEACH A Calle del Arroyo resident last Thursday night reported a 45-year-old man was living on his street in a pickup with a camper shell. He asked that the man be moved along. The man told a deputy his truck was out of gas and that he would move the truck that morning. A deputy warned the man that he would be cited if he remained there beyond Friday.
POINT REYES STATION A Highway 1 merchant at 8 p.m. last Thursday notified deputies she had heard a woman calling for help.
WOODACRE A resident at 9:18 p.m. last Thursday complained to deputies that a neighbor downstairs had been listening in on his phone calls. Moreover, the resident said, the neighbor has accused the resident of spying on him. The resident said he considered the neighbor threatening.
FOREST KNOLLS A landlord on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard at 2:19 a.m. Friday reported her tenant was screaming. The landlord said she was "afraid to approach her as it makes her scream more." She said the tenant is in her 40s.
NICASIO A woman at 7:37 a.m. last Thursday reported a 55-year-old man was pacing back and forth outside singing loudly. She said she believed the man is mentally ill.
LAGUNITAS A motorist at 8:59 a.m. last Thursday reported driving past a silver-colored Toyota that had run off an embankment along Sir Francis Drake Boulevard inside Samuel P. Taylor State Park. She said she did not know if anyone was inside the car, but firefighters were on the scene.
WOODACRE A resident at 11:57 a.m. last Thursday notified firefighters of a strong chemical odor in the air, adding that his eyes were burning. The headquarters of the county fire department are not far away, and firefighters were skeptical. When a deputy went to the residence, he determined the problem was that the mans "roommate had placed a new room-deodorizer in the living room."
SAN GERONIMO Mill Valley Police at 2:11 p.m. last Thursday asked deputies to check on a delivery truck with possible damage on the passengers side. Police said the truck, which is owned by a 30-year-old man, possibly was involved in a hit-run collision with a utility pole.
LAGUNITAS A resident at 2:11 p.m. last Thursday complained of receiving numerous phone calls from a man who asked for another woman. She said that although she had told him the woman does not live at her address, the man had kept calling her every 30 minutes for two days.
BOLINAS A resident at 3:59 p.m. last Thursday reported a burglar had taken two diamond earrings from her jewelry box. She said a neighbor had seen a man in her residence a few days earlier. She quoted the neighbor as saying the man was 20 to 30 years old. The resident asked for extra patrols around her house.
POINT REYES STATION A woman at 8:09 a.m. last Wednesday told deputies a 34-year-old man had called her from a payphone, saying he was "suicidal, and mentioned using a shotgun to his mouth." She said the man had grown up in town and was later accused of making threats in Truckee.
LAGUNITAS An Arroyo Road resident at 12:52 last Wednesday reported hearing "a very loud bang," but she was not sure whether it came from an explosion or a gunshot. A deputy in the area at the time said he had heard a gunshot.
PT. REYES STATION A medical clinic at 5:51 p.m. last Wednesday notified deputies that someone with chest pains had just walked in.
MARSHALL A rescue helicopter responded at 8:16 p.m. Nov. 16 when a 72-year-old man told deputies he had starting feeling a pain a few days ago and that it was now severe around his stomach. He said he was sweating heavily. The man noted hed had heart surgery a few years ago but did not think the present problem was related to it.
INVERNESS PARK A woman at 6:40 p.m. Nov. 16 told deputies she had found one of her windows broken, her door open, and blood on the door. She didnt know in anything had been stolen.
POINT REYES STATION A member of the school staff at 9:07 a.m. Nov. 16 reported that a 10-year-old boy had slipped on pavement, hit the back of his head when he fell, and was now feeling dizzy and had pain in his back. The boy may have temporarily blacked out, she said. The staff member said medics were on the scene.
TOMALES A woman from the elementary school at 9:45 a.m. Nov. 16 reported a 13-year-old boy had been hit on the head with a map and that he was now bleeding slightly from one temple. He was also feeling tired, she said, adding that medics were on the scene.
PT. REYES-PETALUMA ROAD A resident at 8:14 p.m. Nov. 15 told deputies he had heard two gunshots. When he went outside with a flashlight to look around, he found nothing amiss, he said.
NICASIO A woman on Los Piños Spur at 3:20 p.m. Nov. 15 reported a gas explosion that may have occurred during the lighting of a furnace. She said the house where this occurred was full of smoke and "flames were licking up the side of the house." Firefighters responded.
INVERNESS Deputies at 4:03 p.m. Nov. 15 received a report that a "propane structure" at a home on Edgemont Way was on fire. Firefighters determined there was no fire, just a malfunctioning alarm.
MUIR BEACH An au pair at 5:43 p.m. Nov. 15 reported two young Germans were hanging around the property and might be casing the home for a burglary. She said the home had been burglarized not long ago and that the two might be the culprits.
POINT REYES STATION A medical clinic at 5:55 p.m. Nov. 15 reported a 77-year-old woman feeling pressure on her chest had shown up. She has a history of high blood pressure, clinic staff said.
POINT REYES STATION The commander of the sheriffs West Marin substation, Lt. Scott Anderson, has asked The Light to let readers know a campaign to remove abandoned cars is underway in West Marin. The Sheriffs Office will arrange to have abandoned vehicles towed off private property, as well as public property, if the landowner signs a release. The substations phone number is now 446-4418.

FOREST KNOLLS Medics were summoned to Tamal Road at 7:15 p.m. Sunday when a woman reported that a second woman, 71, had "suddenly become disoriented, confused, and very week with labored breathing." She also said the second womans right eyelid was drooping and that she was unable to grasp objects with her right hand.
WOODACRE A resident at 9:09 a.m. Sunday complained that two vehicles were parked in the driveway to a water tank in the Laurel Avenue-Redwood Road neighborhood. She said an older, gold-colored sedan had been parked there 10 days and that a blue-and-white van also parks there but comes and goes. A deputy contacted the owner of the vehicles, who promised to move them.
NICASIO A Lucas Valley Road resident at 11:54 a.m. Saturday reported a 35-year-old man wearing camouflage had come to the residents gate and said he was lost. He said the man in camouflage was disoriented and carrying a bow and arrow.
NICASIO A Nicasio Valley Road resident at 11:14 a.m. Sunday reported a large, Chevrolet pickup truck with a man in his 30s riding in the back, holding a bow and arrow. She said the man, who was wearing a mustache and a baseball cap, put the bow down when she passed the truck.
INVERNESS A resident at 12:28 p.m. Sunday complained that a 19 year old with a companion was riding a motorcycle up and down Inverness Way, performing stunts. She said she was worried about the safety of children and other residents.
FOUR CORNERS The Highway Patrol at 5:50 p.m. Saturday notified deputies that it had been following a drunk driver but lost track of him. Deputies were asked to be on the lookout for a tan-colored vehicle.
WOODACRE A rescue helicopter was summoned at 7:53 p.m. Saturday following a two-vehicle collision at Sir Francis Drake Boulevard and Railroad Avenue.
LAGUNITAS A resident at 10:21 p.m. Saturday reported receiving threatening phone calls from her daughters ex-boyfriend. She said she had received 18 calls that day and "many" calls the day before.
NICASIO A Nicasio Valley Road resident at 10:47 p.m. Saturday notified deputies a vehicle was stalled nearby. She said its lights were flashing. A deputy determined the vehicle was out of water, provided some, and the vehicle left.
POINT REYES STATION A resident at 10:48 p.m. Saturday complained about a loud party with music on B Street, which, he said, had gone on for an hour and a half. A deputy contacted a homeowner and heard loud voices coming from people in a hot tub. The homeowner promised to quiet the people down.
OLEMA Deputies at 9:32 a.m. Saturday received a report of cows on Bear Valley Road. A deputy found one loose cow and subsequently reported it was back in its pasture.
LAGUNITAS A resident at 11:30 a.m. Saturday said she had heard a single gunshot near Samuel P. Taylor State Park. All was quiet when a deputy arrived.
INVERNESS Medics and a rescue helicopter responded at 11:42 a.m. Saturday when a 73-year-old man, who had been gardening, began sweating heavily. Two days earlier, deputies were told, he had suffered pain in the upper part of his chest.
POINT REYES STATION A local bicyclist at 11:59 a.m. Saturday told deputies he had been riding on Mesa Road 100 yards north of the Red Barn when a white, "fairly new" pickup truck driven by a 25 year old intentionally swerved toward him, running him off the road. He described the driver as tall.
PT. REYES-PETALUMA ROAD Firefighters at 8:45 p.m. Friday reported a homeless person was lying beside the road. They said he not injured, just sleeping.
BOLINAS A resident at 10:37 p.m. Friday asked for assistance with a flat tire, which may have been vandalized. A deputy determined there had been no vandalism and gave the woman advice.
LAGUNITAS A Sir Francis Drake Boulevard resident at 3:23 a.m. Friday complained about "drumming and hollering" that had been going on since 2:30 a.m. A deputy spoke to a resident who acknowledged playing music earlier but said the household was "now going to sleep."
INVERNESS PARK A Sir Francis Drake Boulevard resident at 9:51 a.m. Friday reported her ex-boyfriend had just struck her and driven off in her vehicle.
STINSON BEACH A woman at the volunteer center called deputies at 9:58 a.m. Friday, complaining about a man in his 30s who was at the center. She said they wanted him to leave because of his prior problems with the center.
FOREST KNOLLS A Sir Francis Drake Boulevard landlord at 10:44 a.m. Friday told deputies he had given a tenant a 30-day eviction notice. The landlord said the tenant then claimed to be a convicted felon. He added that the tenant had told other people he was going to harm him financially. A deputy told the landlord how to get a court to issue a restraining order against the tenant.
HICKS VALLEY Firefighters at 1:41 p.m. Friday reported a cement truck had overturned and was on its side, blocking one lane of the Point Reyes-Petaluma Road. Firefighters said the wreck was on the west side of Red Hill and that no one was injured.
NICASIO Firefighters around 10 p.m. last Thursday reported a pickup truck had overturned on the west side of Rocky Hill on the Point Reyes-Petaluma Road. No one was injured, firefighters reported.
INVERNESS A resident at 8:09 p.m. Friday reported receiving numerous notices of delinquent parking tickets for a vehicle she no longer owns. A deputy gave her advice.
INVERNESS A Seahaven resident at 9:26 p.m. Friday told deputies she has been receiving letters from a man, whom she barely knew years ago, saying that he wanted to meet her next week. She quoted him as saying she would be "making a grave mistake" if she didnt meet with him. Deputies helped arrange for a court to issue a restraining order against the man and agreed to provide her with protection.
BOLINAS A Kale Road resident at 9:35 a.m. Friday told deputies he believed "a construction crew was drilling and plowing dirt without a permit." He said he is concerned about landslides. A deputy determined a consultant, who had a permit, was drilling for core samples.
WOODACRE A woman at 1:24 p.m. said she had received a call from her 22-year-old daughter, who lives with a 24-year-old man, saying the daughter had been beaten up by him. The woman said her daughter had told her "he wont let her call police." The mother said she doesnt know where the couple lives because they had been homeless.
POINT REYES STATION The driver of a BMW, who may have fallen asleep at the wheel, hit a Volvo parked on Highway 1 beside the Old Creamery Building. The crash caused major damage to the vehicles.
POINT REYES STATION Petaluma Police at 2:54 p.m. asked deputies at the sheriffs substation to check the sanity of a 20-year-old man who had left threats on his girlfriends answering machine. The man may have "self-inflicted stab wounds," police said.
SAN GERONIMO A Sylvestris Road resident at 11:49 p.m. last Thursday reported a 51-year-old man had tripped and fallen, possibly down a 15-step staircase. She said his head was cut. Medics responded.
MARSHALL A Marshall-Petaluma Road resident at 9:46 p.m. last Thursday complained of noise from a "generator [that] had been running all night" although there was no blackout. A deputy determined the generator was at a dairy that was in operation and that he couldnt "tell them to stop."
BOLINAS An officer at 9:13 a.m. Nov. 9 asked for a backup in dealing with an encampment of homeless people on Park Avenue.
LAGUNITAS A resident at 1:53 p.m. Nov. 9 complained that an 18-wheel truck had been parked at Arroyo and Barranca roads since 11 a.m. She said she had asked the driver to move the truck because it was blocking her driveway, but he hadnt done so. A deputy contacted the driver, who then moved the truck.
STINSON BEACH A woman at 2:27 p.m. Nov. 9 told deputies she had received email threats that her business would be blown up.
WOODACRE A resident at 10:14 a.m. Nov. 8 asked about a person whom, she said, was living in a vehicle in town.
WOODACRE A man at 12:53 p.m. Nov. 8 reported $300 had been stolen from his home and said he suspected the money had been taken by a house painter.
TOMALES A Tomales-Petaluma Road resident at 3:48 p.m. Nov. 8 notified deputies that a 48-year-old man was having an asthma attack.
OLEMA A motorist at 1:48 a.m. Nov. 8 reported a blue Ford pickup truck had overturned near the top of Olema Hill. Its hazard lights were flashing, but nobody was around, the motorist said, adding that the truck was partly obstructing Sir Francis Drake Boulevard.

November 10, 2004 Sheriff's Calls
OLEMA Deputies and the Highway Patrol at 1:48 a.m. Sunday responded when a blue Ford pickup truck overturned on the Olema Hill near the Bolinas Ridge Trailhead. The truck came to rest partially blocking Sir Francis Drake Boulevard, and the Highway Patrol had it towed away. The trucks driver left before officers arrived.
OLEMA A motorist at 8:05 a.m. Sunday complained to deputies that while he was stopped along Highway 1 near the cemetery, a gray-and-dark-blue pickup truck stopped, and the driver got out and kicked the motorists car.
TOMALES Deputies at 1:07 p.m. Sunday received a report from someone at the high school that his wallet, which had charge cards in it, had been stolen from his car.
POINT REYES STATION A teenager at 1:28 p.m. Sunday asked about the procedure for getting the court to issue a restraining order against someone.
BOLINAS A man on Wharf Road notified deputies at 7:33 p.m. Saturday that a couple, who had been drinking, were in front of the Community Center, and the woman was lying on the ground. He said the woman, who is in her 30s, was talking to a man in his 20s. The man said an event was underway in the center.
POINT REYES STATION A resident at 8:02 p.m. Saturday reported someone was jumping in and out of the bushes at Mesa and Overlook roads. Deputies could not find the person.
MUIR BEACH A resident at 8:15 p.m. Saturday told deputies she was worried that a man, who had been drinking, would try to drive home. He was now "walking it off," she said. A deputy could not find him.
TOCALOMA A resident at 8:46 p.m. Saturday notified deputies that a vehicle was upside down on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard. She said her husband had gone outside to see if anyone was injured. She reported that the driver "left the scene running" and that three of the vehicles occupants were walking along the side of the road.
BOLINAS A Brighton Avenue resident at 8:51 a.m. Saturday complained that a blue-and-white motorhome had been parked all night downtown, with people sleeping in it. A deputy contacted the people and told them that in Marin County it is illegal to sleep overnight in a vehicle except at a campground. They said they would leave.
DILLON BEACH A man on Beach Avenue at 11:23 a.m. Saturday notified deputies that a surfer had suffered a cut above an eye and was bleeding. Medics and deputies responded. The man was driven to a hospital by a companion.
LAGUNITAS A resident at 4:09 p.m. Saturday complained that a neighbors construction vehicle was parked in the roadway of Alta Avenue, creating a traffic hazard. A deputy ticketed the vehicle.
POINT REYES STATION Medics at 4:24 p.m. responded when a 93-year-old woman became dizzy and had trouble seeing. She was transported to a hospital by ambulance.
BOLINAS A Stinson Beach resident looking across the channel of Bolinas Lagoon at 8:46 p.m. Friday reported seeing a fire on the Little Mesa. Firefighters and deputies could not find it.
BOLINAS A resident at 9:21 p.m. Friday notified deputies that a thief had stolen his car keys from the vehicle while it was parked on Wharf Road. A deputy found the keys.
FOREST KNOLLS A resident at 10:33 p.m. Friday reported a loud gathering of youths at a home in the Montezuma Avenue area. When a deputy went to the home, no one was there.
SAN GERONIMO Medics responded at 11:38 p.m. Friday when a woman reported a 97-year-old man was experiencing chest pains and was having trouble breathing. She said he has a history of heart problems.
TOMALES A member of the high school staff at 7:56 a.m. Friday reported a 16-year-old boy was being detained after being found with marijuana. A deputy cited him to Juvenile Probation and drove the youth home. At 12:37 p.m., the boys mother notified deputies that he had threatened her and temporarily run away after being brought home by officers. He was now back in his bedroom, she said.
PT. REYES-PETALUMA ROAD A man at 9:47 a.m. Friday complained that his vehicle had been ticketed "the other night" when he left it parked in a turnout. He said he had run out of gas and left a note to that effect on his steering wheel. The man asked to speak with a sergeant.
BOLINAS A man on Wharf Road at 1:22 p.m. Friday complained that another man, about 60 and using a walker, was standing in front of the library yelling at passersby. A deputy found the man in front of the gas station "talking loudly" and moved him along.
BOLINAS A woman at 3:41 p.m. Friday told deputies that people were spending the night in a vehicle parked on Brighton Avenue. She also said people were sleeping overnight in the town park.
WOODACRE A man at 3:47 p.m. Friday reported he had called a woman who was being evicted and said she sounded "depressed." He asked deputies to check on her welfare.
POINT REYES STATION Deputies at 1:13 a.m. Friday received a 911-hangup call from Campolindo Drive. When a deputy called the home, the residents said they "have phone difficulties after rains." At 4:47 a.m., deputies received a second 911-hangup call from the same address, called the residents once again, and got the same answer as before.
BOLINAS Deputies at 4:29 p.m. last Thursday received a 911-hangup call. When they called back, a 12-year-old girl said she didnt know why deputies were calling; she then hung up. Officers ascribed the call to a "misdial by a juvenile."
WOODACRE A man at 9:01 a.m. last Wednesday claimed the postoffice had impounded his mail because of charges he allegedly owes. He asked how to get his delivery resumed. Deputies told him to call the US Postal Service "maybe in San Francisco."
TOMALES A Highway 1 resident at 9:44 a.m. last Wednesday reported losing a wallet, containing a drivers license and credit cards, in town on Halloween.
MUIR BEACH A man at 9:16 a.m. last Wednesday told deputies he had lost his rear license plate around Nov. 1. He asked them to hold off taking action, however, until he heard from Berkeley Police.
LAGUNITAS A Sir Francis Drake Boulevard resident at 10:47 a.m. last Wednesday told deputies a friend had borrowed his van and brought it back damaged. An officer gave him advice.
MARSHALL A Marshall-Petaluma Road resident at 4:11 p.m. last Wednesday notified deputies he had driven past two men in a green van parked beside the road. He said he believes he saw a "long rifle," which one of the men was trying to hide.
LAGUNITAS A woman at 5:39 p.m. last Wednesday told deputies a man had come to her house and said he "wanted to give her a bid to buy her property," a deputy reported. "He walked all over her property" and then left in a "small red vehicle."
BOLINAS A Bolinas man at 6:34 p.m. last Wednesday called deputies from Fairfax and said he had been told his girlfriend was "afraid to drive her vehicle on Bolinas-Fairfax Road in an ice storm." He said her car may have skidded off the road, and he asked deputies to keep an eye out for it.
TOMALES A Tomales-Petaluma Road resident at 10:40 p.m. Nov. 2 reported a man in his 40s and not wearing a shirt was sitting in her driveway moaning. She did not know if he was injured or drunk. Medics transported the man to Petaluma Valley Hospital by ambulance.
TOMALES Firefighters at 11:39 p.m. Nov. 2 notified deputies they had found a car wreck with the cars airbag deployed. Deputies suspected the driver might be drunk and turned the case over to the Highway Patrol, which arranged for the car to be towed away.
BOLINAS A resident at 11:18 p.m. Nov. 1 told deputies a woman, 34, had brandished a weapon in front of her and phoned her four times. She said the woman is the girlfriend of the father of the residents child.
POINT REYES STATION A resident at 8:36 a.m. Nov. 1 complained that every year his house is egged on Halloween. This year he found four or five broken eggs on his property. A deputy gave him advice.
LAGUNITAS A Sir Francis Drake Boulevard resident at 5:53 p.m. Nov. 1 notified deputies that he had been driving past the golf course when a 13- or 14-year-old girl beside the road called out, "Help me! Help Me!" A deputy reported, "He pulled over. The girl lay down in front of [his] truck and then got up and came back to [his] window and said, No! No! You can go." The resident said he noticed a green pickup truck parked nearby with a male inside and a female somewhere around it.
POINT REYES STATION A resident at 9:10 p.m. on Halloween complained that for three hours there had been a "loud party" on Third Street.
BOLINAS A schoolbus driver at 3:09 p.m. Nov. 1 notified deputies that near Stinson Beach School someone in a car had thrown pumpkins and hit the bus. It was not damaged.

BOLINAS Deputies at 4:19 p.m. Oct. 29 received a complaint that a man, who uses a walker, was on Wharf Road yelling at passersby. Deputies noted they are "familiar" with the man, but he had left by the time they arrived. At 6:53 p.m. the next day, deputies received another complaint about the man, who was again on Wharf Road, this time engaged in a verbal disturbance with someone else. Again he was gone when a deputy arrived. At 12:58 p.m. the next day, a woman called deputies with a third complaint about the man. She said he was in front of the community center harassing people and appeared to be drunk. A deputy determined he was not drunk but admonished him for his behavior. Deputies have received seven complaints about the man in two months. In addition, on one occasion he complained that he was attacked by a "crazy woman," but deputies decided it was a case of mutual combat.
STINSON BEACH A resident at 11:09 a.m. Sunday said she wanted a deputy to talk with her son, who had stolen $10 from a downtown business the day before.
BOLINAS A Brighton Avenue resident at 11:25 a.m. Sunday notified deputies that a purple Dodge SUV was blocking his driveway and was parked two or three feet out from the curb, creating a traffic hazard. A deputy determined the SUV belongs to an Oakland woman and ticketed it.
NICASIO A motorist at 2:38 p.m. Sunday reported a female bicyclist had crashed on Nicasio Valley Road. She said the bicyclist was complaining of head injuries. Medics responded.
STINSON BEACH A Panoramic Highway resident at 8:56 p.m. Saturday complained that a fundraising party was "just too loud." A deputy checked with the host and was told the party would be breaking up at 10 p.m. and that everyone would be kept inside until then.
MUIR BEACH A resident at 1:16 p.m. Oct. 26 told deputies that her ex-husbands new girlfriend had called her and said the man, 41, had raped the girlfriends daughter, 14, three days earlier. The resident, whom deputies described as "very upset," told deputies her ex-husband had previously been incarcerated for raping her own daughter and is now a registered sex offender. At 1:03 p.m. Saturday, the resident again called deputies to say her ex-husband was aware that the resident had called deputies. She quoted the girlfriend as saying he had told her "he was going to kill [the resident]." At 9:09 p.m. the same day, the resident called again to make the same complaints. A deputy determined the woman had been drinking, decided there was no merit to her complaints, and gave her advice.
POINT REYES STATION A Third Street resident at 10:18 p.m. Saturday complained about "loud rap music for the past six hours. A deputy found a small party underway, and the partygoers said they "will keep it down." At 11:06 p.m., the woman called back to complain again about the noise. However, by the time a deputy reached the scene, all was quiet.
FOREST KNOLLS Deputies received a report at 10:18 a.m. Saturday that a member of the public had found some ammunition in the town park and wanted to turn it over to officers.
DOGTOWN A motorist at 1:09 p.m. Saturday flagged down a passing deputy to report there were loose cows on Highway 1 near the Randall House in the Olema Valley. A deputy couldnt find them.
INVERNESS A resident at 6:58 p.m. Saturday called deputies to report her husband had just threatened to hit her dog with a shovel. A dispatcher could hear a male voice in the background saying that she had just hit him with a shovel. The woman then said her husband was driving away in a pickup truck.
POINT REYES STATION A motorist at 7:15 a.m. Friday reported a red truck had run off Highway 1 but that she had seen someone walking around the truck. A towtruck was summoned.
TOMALES High school staff at 10:17 a.m. Friday reported a 15-year-old girl had been found with a small amount marijuana, adding that she may have been smoking pot with two other girls. A deputy cited the girl on a charge of possessing marijuana and released her.
TOMALES Elementary school staff reported an eight-year-old girl had been stung by a bee two to three hours earlier and had developed a rash. In addition her neck and face were swollen, the staff member said, adding that the last time the girl was stung she developed an infection. Medics responded.
STINSON BEACH A woman on Calle de la Resaca at 4:20 p.m. Friday notified deputies that a man in his 40s, who was wearing a black hat, black shirt, and black pants, had followed her car in a white pickup truck all the way to the house where she works. He then started yelling at her about her driving, she said.
PT. REYES-PETALUMA ROAD A man at 7:07 p.m. Friday reported that something beside the roads was wrapped in a blue tarpaulin and sealed with duct tape. It smelled bad, he added. An officer determined the package contained a dead deer.
STINSON BEACH A Belvedere Avenue resident at 7:25 p.m. Friday notified deputies that a man had apparently hit a woman. She said she had heard the woman screaming, "You hit me!" and that "she was hurt."
WOODACRE Medics were summoned to Railroad Avenue at 8:24 p.m. Friday when a 38-year-old man reported he had broken a leg at the ankle.
STINSON BEACH A Highway 1 resident at 9:28 p.m. Friday told deputies he had received a "death threat from the husband of a woman hes been seeing," an officer reported. The resident said the husband, 47, of Woodacre had sent him an email saying, "Contemplate the words to Jimi Hendrixs song Hey Joe." The song begins: "Hey, Joe, where you goin with that gun in your hand? .... Im goin down to shoot my old lady. You know I caught her messin round with another man."
OLEMA Deputies at 8:02 p.m. last Thursday were summoned to a campground where a youth allegedly battered someone. A deputy cited the youth and then released him to a parent.
BOLINAS An Olema-Bolinas Road landlord at 9:47 a.m. Oct. 25 asked a deputy how to go about evicting her tenant. At 9:07 p.m. Friday, an Olema-Bolinas Road tenant asked deputies for advice, saying he had been evicted from the trailer he had been living in and was supposed to remove items from the trailer by midnight. However, he said, no one was around to let him into the trailer. A deputy gave him advice.
PT. REYES-PETALUMA ROAD A Fairfax policeman at 4:09 a.m. Friday reported at least two white-and-black cows were loose on the road. A deputy could not find them.
SAN GERONIMO A San Geronimo Valley Drive resident at 9:27 p.m. last Wednesday complained about "loud drumming from a sweatlodge" in the neighborhood. At 12:52 p.m. last Thursday, the resident and a spouse called deputies again, this time saying they had questions about a "noise problem with a neighbor, who has been using his home as a place of worship." They said there was loud drumming and chanting at the home "a few days per week." A deputy gave them advice.
POINT REYES STATION A Mesa Road resident at 1:44 p.m. last Thursday complained about people "cutting and killing" five "heritage" trees. The resident believed the neighbor needed a county permit for the cutting. A deputy noted there is an ongoing problem between the neighbors and told the resident to contact the county Planning Division. The officer said no permit is needed to cut down five trees.
WOODACRE A resident at 4:31 p.m. last Thursday reported receiving an envelope in the mail from Spain. Inside was a message that she had won something in a Spanish lottery. She said she was not sure if the message was legitimate but noted there was no return address given. A deputy determined no crime had occurred and gave her advice.
OLEMA Deputies at 8:25 p.m. last Wednesday received a report that a deer had been struck in traffic near Highway 1 and Sir Francis Drake Boulevard and was still on the roadway. A deputy could not find it.
BOLINAS A Brighton Avenue resident at 9:01 p.m. last Wednesday reported a bonfire on the beach. Deputies notified Bolinas firefighters.
INVERNESS PARK A resident at 11:32 a.m. last Wednesday reported her credit card had been fraudulently used to place an order for $1,200 worth of telephone equipment.
BOLINAS The Humane Society at 1:59 p.m. last Wednesday asked deputies to check on a deer that had been injured in traffic on Mesa Road.
NICASIO A man at 2:11 p.m. last Wednesday said he had been informed by a motorist that a car had run off the road near Lucas Valley and Nicasio Valley roads. The man quoted the motorist as saying the driver who ran off the road appeared "disoriented" but did not appear to be badly injured.
NICASIO A business at 3:27 p.m. last Wednesday said an emotionally unstable woman, 41, of Los Angeles had been trespassing and was now in a cab outside. He added that San Anselmo Police had dealt with her several times because she also kept showing up at the business-owners home.
BOLINAS An Overlook Drive resident at 12:51 a.m. last Wednesday notified deputies she had passed out but did not know how long she had been unconscious. A rescue helicopter was summoned.
POINT REYES STATION A Commodore Webster Drive resident at 8:21 a.m. Oct. 25 reported being harassed by a neighbor. She said the neighbor had threatened to have her son arrested, adding that other people had told her the neighbor had talked of wanting to kill her.
STINSON BEACH Deputies at 8:55 p.m. Oct. 25 received a report that a 55-year-old physical-education teacher at the school was suffering "extreme chest pains." He was transported to a hospital by a rescue helicopter.
POINT REYES STATION Medics responded at 1:08 p.m. Oct. 25 after an elderly woman complained of head injuries as a result of falling down. Deputies were told the woman was "conscious and talking."
STINSON BEACH Medics were summoned to Belvedere Avenue at 5:09 p.m. Oct. 25 when a woman in her 70s fell, cutting a knee and wrist.
POINT REYES STATION The commander of the sheriffs West Marin substation, Lt. Scott Anderson, has asked The Light to let readers know a campaign to remove abandoned cars is underway in West Marin. The Sheriffs Office will arrange to have abandoned vehicles towed off private property, as well as public property, if the landowner signs a release. The substations phone number is now 446-4418.
