October 27, 2005 Sheriff's Calls

BOLINAS – A Wharf Road merchant at 7:18 p.m. Sunday complained about a man in his 30s that was "out front yelling at customers and people walking by." He said the man was either drunk or on drugs and "is being very confrontational." The merchant later reported the man was "now heading on foot down Wharf Road toward the beach."

SAN GERONIMO – A man at 7:45 p.m. Sunday reported a group of high school students were hanging out in the elementary school parking lot. He said he was "concerned they will drink and drive." A second man then called deputies to report his son had told him "there was going to be a party tonight with a keg." At 8:41 a third man reported seeing "bottles being thrown and people fighting." He said there were at least 20 youths in the parking lot.

LAGUNITAS – A Sir Francis Drake Boulevard resident at 7:51 p.m. Sunday expressed concern about a "thief" living in the area, possibly in a white pickup truck with a camper shell. He said the second man "has a history of theft and violence in the area."

WOODACRE – Two residents about 9:05 p.m. Sunday reported up to 20 vehicles occupied by youths were on Fire Road. Both women said there is an ongoing problem with youths drinking and smoking along Fire Road.

LAGUNITAS – A man at 11:15 p.m. reported a group of youths were gathered on Rodeo Avenue, claiming to be waiting for a friend. He said he feared the youths might burglarize a construction site "where there have been problems in the past."

POINT REYES STATION – An employee of a nonprofit at 9:46 a.m. Sunday reported finding a rear door open, walking through it, and seeing a "man attempting to hide behind it."

OLEMA – A Highway 1 resident at 10:13 p.m. Saturday reported there was a large party of more than 100 people in the area and that they were shooting off fireworks. A deputy found more than 200 adults and abated a fistfight. The victim was taken to Marin General Hospital by ambulance with bruised ribs and scrapes. At 12:16 p.m. Sunday, the victim asked to file an assault report, saying his assailant had "punched" and "kicked" him and "threw [him] into a truck."

OLEMA – A woman at 4:55 a.m. Sunday reported two men and a woman were fighting in the street. She added that one man "pulled out a knife and said he was going to kill someone."

POINT REYES STATION – A firefighter at 7:45 p.m. Saturday reported that someone had stolen a banner promoting the Disaster Council’s Pancake Breakfast. A deputy determined Caltrans had taken down the sign because it was in the wrong location. He suggested the firefighter talk with Caltrans.

STINSON BEACH – Shortly before midnight, residents on Calle del Pradero and Calle de la Resaca separately reported "loud fireworks" were being shot off in the area.

WOODACRE – The county Fire Department dispatcher at 1:03 a.m. Sunday reported hearing several gunshots. A second caller said a 14-year-old boy, who is "already on probation," has been seen setting off "fireworks in the area" and had just run into a house."

STINSON BEACH – County firefighters at 4:12 a.m. Sunday reported a fire was put out in a cabin on Belvedere Avenue.

BOLINAS – County firefighters at 10:43 a.m. Saturday reported dealing with a "possibly mentally disturbed" man. A firefighter told deputies the man had indicated he was "in pain from being shocked by a taser [gun]." However, firefighters added they did not know "if a taser was ever used." They said the man was "unable to speak because of all the voices in his head" and because he had supposedly been "shocked so many times." The man was transported to a hospital.

PT. REYES-PETALUMA ROAD – Deputies at 12:49 p.m. Saturday received a report that a cat had been hit by a car but was still alive on the side of the road. A deputy could not find it.

POINT REYES STATION – Deputies and firefighters responded at 2:10 p.m. Saturday when an 87-year-old woman fell and needed help getting back into her chair.

INVERNESS – A television reporter at 2:46 p.m. Saturday reported being assaulted by a chef at a restaurant. The 33-year-old victim said he was filming the exterior of the restaurant from a public road when the chef "came out, yelled at [him], and tried to kick him." A deputy followed the TV reporter to the restaurant so he could point out the chef.

FOUR CORNERS – A woman at 4:09 p.m. Saturday reported she was bicycling with friends when a man in his 40s and wearing a white cowboy hat stopped his black Dodge flatbed truck and yelled at her.

WOODACRE – A Carson Road resident at 7:17 p.m. Friday asked deputies how to handle problems with a neighbor. A deputy gave her advice.

INVERNESS PARK – Deputies responded to Paradise Ranch Estates subdivision at 7:37 p.m. Friday when a woman reported hearing noises in her residence.

OLEMA – Deputies at 10:43 p.m. Friday received a report that a red Corvette had run off the road and into a fence half a mile south of downtown. When an officer reached the scene, no one was around the vehicle.

OLEMA – A man at 3:59 p.m. Friday notified deputies that in the morning he had driven past a deer that he thought had been killed in traffic. However, when the man drove by it again that afternoon, he saw that the deer was still alive. A deputy shot the deer to put it out of its misery.

NICASIO – A motorist at 7:04 p.m. last Thursday told deputies she had just hit a deer and that now there was "a lot of glass" on Nicasio Valley Road.

DILLON BEACH – A woman at 7:29 p.m. last Thursday notified deputies that a minivan had driven over a cliff along Dillon Beach Road near the lighthouse statue at the entrance to town. Deputies, medics, and the Highway Patrol responded.

SAMUEL TAYLOR PARK – A ranger at 8:47 p.m. last Thursday arrested a 40-year-old man wanted on two Marin County warrants. A deputy transported him to jail.

POINT REYES STATION – A deputy at 2:25 a.m. Friday stopped a green Toyota on Highway 1 and arrested the motorist on drunk-driving charges.

POINT REYES STATION – Deputies at 11:52 p.m. last Thursday found a set of keys in front of the sheriff’s substation.

BOLINAS – A man in San Francisco at 1:34 p.m. last Thursday said he had just heard from his caretaker in Bolinas that a man was camping on his property. The property, however, is a mile long, and the man could not offer any details about the camper.

STINSON BEACH – A Panoramic Highway resident at 9:08 p.m. last Wednesday complained of people drag racing in front of her residence. She said the racing had been going on every night for two weeks. A deputy reported, "A neighbor told her the responsibles are an Asian gang that gives prizes to whoever goes the fastest around the curves." The officer gave her advice and notified the Highway Patrol.

STINSON BEACH – A Belvedere Avenue resident at 8:23 a.m. last Wednesday said someone in the neighborhood was "blocking the road due to a concrete pour and not allowing garbage truck access to her home." A dispatcher also quoted her as saying this is an "ongoing problem."

FOREST KNOLLS – Deputies at 12:02 p.m. last Wednesday received a complaint that an "orange Dodge pickup with expired tags and filled with trash and remnants from a fire had been parked for three weeks" at Aztec and Guadalupe avenues. A deputy determined the truck was registered to a San Rafael man.

POINT REYES STATION –A man at 7:34 p.m. Oct. 18 reported that an "older female" had tripped and fallen outside a restaurant. Medics transported her to Kaiser Hospital for a facial injury.

WOODACRE – A resident at 10:08 a.m. Oct. 18 said that her 44-year-old brother, who uses methamphetamine, is becoming increasingly paranoid. She asked for advice and said that deputies might want to evaluate her brother’s mental state.

NICASIO – A man at 2:22 p.m. Oct. 18 notified deputies that his girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend, 80, of Santa Rosa was at her home and refusing to leave. He said the gray-haired man was outside drilling out the lock of door to a garage under the house. When a deputy arrived, the old boyfriend said he merely wanted to get some tools out of the garage. His ex-girlfriend said he wasn’t supposed to come by the house without calling first, which he hadn’t done. The deputy asked her if she had a problem with her ex-boyfriend taking his tools while he was there. When she said she didn’t, the old man then said he didn’t want to take them, the deputy reported. The officer then moved him along. At 6:53 p.m., an attorney called deputies, saying he represented the old man and that the man owned the property. However, the attorney said, the old man had now told him that a deputy had said the man had legally "abandoned" the property. A deputy gave him advice.

OLEMA – An elderly woman at 2:48 p.m. Oct. 18 fell over backwards down three stairs at an inn.

BOLINAS – A Park Avenue resident at 4:45 p.m. Oct. 18 told deputies a car with a travel trailer had moved into her neighborhood 10 days ago, and two people were living in it. A deputy tagged the vehicle to be moved.

 

October 20, 2005 Sheriff's Calls

NICASIO – A business at 7:41 a.m. Sunday reported a "possible poacher" driving a "red, older Chevy pickup [truck]" was on Point Reyes-Petaluma Road. The company said its staff had been looking for the suspect for the past couple of days after he was "seen with [rifle with] a spotting scope." The business reported it "has been warned that the subject has a felony conviction and should not be approached by their staff." A deputy could not find him.

CHILENO VALLEY – A resident at 8:43 a.m. Sunday notified deputies her $5,000 wood splitter had "been taken last night from the front of [her] property." A deputy took a grand-theft report.

MARSHALL – Deputies at 10:04 a.m. Sunday received a report that two cars had collided on Highway 1 and were blocking the roadway. Deputies assisted the Highway Patrol with traffic control.

WOODACRE – Medics responded at 12:37 p.m. Sunday when a woman, who has a history of depression and anxiety, reported "very high blood pressure, dizziness, and a headache."

NICASIO – A woman at 2:47 p.m. Sunday reported "numerous tools stolen from a locked tool room on [her] property." She said she did not know the value of what was stolen and that she "has an employee checking on the loss."

TOMALES – A merchant at 3:27 p.m. Sunday reported that two 15-year-old girls "grabbed a bottle of wine after eating and ran out." She said one of the girls had told a waiter they were staying in Dillon Beach.

BOLINAS – A resident at 3:48 p.m. Sunday notified deputies that a mentally ill man was sitting in a parked truck near her residence. She said the 41-year-old man had "stated that ‘the cops are in his brain.’" The resident said she was "concerned for him and would like him to be checked out before he hurts himself."

WOODACRE – A resident at 4:12 p.m. Sunday told deputies she was "having problems with her 16-year-old daughter and her daughter’s friend, 16 years old." The resident said the boy "continues to stay at [her] residence against [her] will" and that she "can not get any cooperation from [his] parents." Rangers and deputies went to the residence and arrested the boy on stolen-vehicle charges.

LAGUNITAS – A Sir Francis Drake Boulevard resident complained about a "loud party [that] has been going on for over an hour." The man said he hear "loud music and people talking loudly." A deputy determined, "This is a party for disabled children." The hosts were "contacted," he said, "and they will quiet it down."

NICASIO – A man at 5:17 p.m. Sunday told deputies he had "walked off the job last week" and was now "waiting for a check from his employer." He said he had "received a call from his ex-employer stating that the Marin County Sheriff’s Office was involved now, and that they had to speak about the ranch." The man said he would like advice as to what to do as [he] will not receive a check until the situation is remedied." A deputy gave him advice.

CHILENO VALLEY – A man at 6:43 p.m. Sunday reported hearing "a vehicle accident [that] sounded like a solo car… versus a tree." He said there had been two occupants in the car, and "one is trapped inside." Deputies and the Highway Patrol responded.

SAN GERONIMO – A minister at 8:54 p.m. Saturday notified deputies there is a "relay footrace going on past the church tonight." An "older Mercedes four-door [sedan]," he said, "has sped into the intersection" of Sir Francis Drake Boulevard and Nicasio Valley Road "two times in the past 20 minutes, slammed on the brakes, and skidded… endangering runners."

INVERNESS – A resident at 12:02 a.m. Sunday reported a three-year-old boy had been "vomiting since Friday, [was] in pain now, [and] not able to cry [tears] because he is dehydrated." The caller said the boy was now having abdominal pain, was "not lucid," and "had an altered state of mind."

NICASIO – An emergency-room nurse at a hospital notified deputies at 1:32 a.m. Sunday that a male patient said he was assaulted "somewhere in Nicasio." Deputies were unable to find any suspects, and in any case, the "victim refused to press charges and has no suspect information."

INVERNESS PARK – A woman at 7:56 a.m. Saturday reported a blue sedan had "overturned in a ditch" along Sir Francis Drake Boulevard. Deputies learned the motorist worked for the National Seashore and was at park headquarters. The driver had said she was not injured, but the Highway Patrol "requested that she be looked at while at headquarters."

BOLINAS – Deputies and medics responded to Highway 1 at 12:15 p.m. Saturday after a man reported that a female motorcyclist had fallen down and suffered an "injury to her left leg." A deputy later reported the accident was a "low-speed tipover, 2 to 3 mph… [She] was turning around, and the bike slipped out from under her."

STINSON BEACH – A woman at 1:33 p.m. Saturday reported a five-year-old boy was "choking on something. He was eating a hard candy… [and it] feels like it is stuck in the middle of his throat." The boy was wheezing but managing to breath, she said. Deputies and firefighters responded to Seadrift Road.

STINSON BEACH – The owner of a weekend home at 3:03 p.m. Saturday reported "he just noticed that someone tried to break into his residence via a window within the past six months…" A dispatcher noted, "He has fixed he window and would like to have a deputy look at it, and he would also like some advice."

INVERNESS PARK – San Rafael Police at 5:34 p.m. Saturday asked deputies to contact the mother of a patient "who is currently at Marin General Hospital. He has been shot, is critical, [and hospital staff] don’t know if it was self-inflicted or by someone else." Deputies contacted the mother, who went to the hospital.

INVERNESS PARK – A woman at 2:12 a.m. Saturday told deputies she had learned from a female stranger that "rough-looking men" in three motorhomes "were being physically abusive to other women at ‘the’ campground. Since yesterday, she added, some of the women are missing." The stranger did not say which campground she was referring to.

STINSON BEACH – Deputies at 3:20 a.m. Saturday received a call from a Calle de la Sierra resident who heard people in the street heading toward the beach, possibly to have a party. A deputy contacted a small group and directed them to put out their beach fire.

INVERNESS – A resident at 12:52 p.m. Friday told deputies she has an "ongoing problem with her 55-year-old boyfriend hitting her. [It] did not happen today, but [she was] threatened, she said. At 4:32 a.m., she called deputies again, saying "her boyfriend will not leave the residence" and that they "have been arguing all day." She said the boyfriend lives at the residence. The boyfriend told deputies his girlfriend "has mental issues" and that "he is going to sleep outside… hoping that will calm [her]." Although deputies went to the house twice, she called a third time at 2:50 p.m. Saturday and was given the names of three emergency-housing agencies "for assistance in leaving the residence if she feels threatened."

BOLINAS – A resident at 7:57 a.m. Friday told deputies his house had been ransacked during the night while he was housesitting elsewhere. "It is a mess," he said, and "things are missing." The resident said he believes the culprit is a 35-year-old ex-girlfriend." Deputies noted the resident has a history of methamphetamine use.

BOLINAS – A man complained about an "ongoing problem" with someone camping on his property. The man said he had already spoken with deputies about this, and the camper "was advised to leave within three days." The caller said, "He is still there." A deputy checked the property but could not find the camper.

WOODACRE – A woman at 12:50 p.m. Friday asked that a deputy evaluate the sanity of her 40-year-old brother, who was "delusional."

SAN GERONIMO – A Sir Francis Drake Boulevard resident at 7:14 p.m. last Thursday complained that a neighborhood resident "has sweatlodges in his backyard." She said she is "concerned about fire danger." County firefighters checked a home on a nearby street and determined, "The sweatlodge is not a threat."

FOREST KNOLLS – A woman at 9:31 p.m. last Thursday reported a 44-year-old man was having a seizure. Deputies and medics responded, and the man was transported to Marin General Hospital.

MARSHALL – A woman from Walker Creek Ranch at 9:55 p.m. last Thursday reported a 10-year-old girl with a history of asthma was having difficulty breathing and that her medication and inhaler weren’t helping. Medics responded.

TOCALOMA – The Highway Patrol at 10:41 p.m. last Thursday notified deputies of a black Angus cow on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard.

TOMALES – A sheriff’s patrolcar hit a deer at 1:10 a.m. Friday. A deputy reported, "damage to a county vehicle." At 1:38 a.m., the same patrolcar hit a deer at Highway 1 and Viento Way in Point Reyes Station, but the "deer ran into bushes," and it was "not necessary to dispatch [it]," the deputy reported. He added there was "no additional damage" to the patrolcar.

POINT REYES STATION – A Coast Guard officer at 9:24 a.m. last Thursday reported a vandal had sprayed dayglow-orange paint on a mirror in the housing-complex’s gym, on Commodore Webster Drive, and on signs leading into the base. At 10:23 a.m., deputies received a report that the vandal had also sprayed the paint on the roadway at Bear Valley Road and Sir Francis Drake Boulevard and on a wooden footbridge. At 1:43 p.m., a contractor at the affordable-housing project on Mesa Road reported graffiti had also been sprayed on a sidewalk at the job site and noted the paint had been stolen from a subcontractor. Among the graffiti sprayed by the vandal was "420," a euphemism for marijuana.

BOLINAS – A man at 2:46 p.m. last Thursday complained about four or five men and women drinking alcohol in front of the library although they have been told they cannot drink there. When a deputy arrived, no one in front of the library was drunk or had beer, but he "moved them along" anyhow.

WOODACRE – County firefighters at 6:29 p.m. last Thursday reported the Humane Society had been "getting numerous calls of an injured deer had had been hit by a car" at Carson Road and Redwood Drive but was still alive. Because the Humane Society could not respond quickly, firefighters asked that a deputy move the deer out of the road or shoot it to put it out of its misery. A deputy could not find the deer.

PANORAMIC HIGHWAY – State staff from Pantoll Ranger Station at 7:03 p.m. last Wednesday reported an "injured deer struggling in the roadway, unable to get up." Deputies and the Humane Society looked for the deer but could not find it.

WOODACRE – A resident at 11:38 p.m. last Wednesday reported hearing "some sort of domestic dispute [with a] male and female arguing." She said she heard them "cussing and throwing things." A deputy determined the fight had been merely "verbal" and that the man had left.

WOODACRE – A resident at 8:24 a.m. last Wednesday told deputies that some had stolen her federal ID "and used it fraudulently. It started in January, and the [woman] just found out about it two weeks ago. Incidents have occurred in Southern California: Los Angeles and Santa Monica." The resident had contacted the Los Angeles Police Department "who stated she must contact the Sheriff’s Office for the report," so she asked to have a report filed.

TOMALES – A deputy at 9:24 a.m. last Wednesday reported dealing with two cows on Highway 1. "The cows’ owners were located and will take care of them," the deputy later reported.

BOLINAS – An Ocean Parkway resident at 10:14 a.m. last Wednesday reported a "large, black, shaking dog is in the corner of [her] residence." She said she "can’t tell if he is injured or vicious." A deputy, who "secured" the dog in her backyard, reported it was "not vicious" and that it "appears the dog was abandoned overnight in front of [her] residence." The Humane Society took the dog.

FOREST KNOLLS – A woman at 11:49 a.m. last Wednesday reported hearing a second woman "screaming loudly." A deputy spoke with the second woman and her boyfriend and determined she was upset that their house had burned down last summer.

STINSON BEACH – A woman at 5:13 p.m. last Wednesday reported her 65-year-old husband was short of breath, was in an altered state of mind, but was conscious. She said he has a history of cancer. A dispatcher reported hearing him yell at his wife for calling 911. She later called back to say he had "calmed down."

BOLINAS – A resident at 2:30 p.m. Oct. 11 reported her ex-husband’s new wife had driven past her house eight times, calling her names and being "hostile" with her vehicle toward the resident. The vehicle was described as a blue Jeep. A deputy gave her advice.

DILLON BEACH – A man at 4:29 p.m. Oct. 11 reported losing his cell phone at the beach two days earlier.

DILLON BEACH – A man at 6:08 p.m. Oct. 11 notified deputies that three cows were missing from his ranch. He did not know if they had been stolen.

WOODACRE – Firefighters at 11:40 p.m. Oct. 10 received a call from a resident that an "unknown hissing noise… is coming from [a] woodworking shop" on Central Avenue. Before deputies arrived, firefighters determined the noise was coming from a sprinkler.

MARSHALL – A deputy at 8 a.m. Oct. 10 investigated a complaint regarding a homeless man’s encampment. The officer said he "contacted" the man, "who stated he would clean up his campsite and move along."

MARSHALL – A motorcyclist at 11:54 a.m. Oct. 10 told deputies that he had been threatened by another motorcyclist who said that if the caller "didn’t leave the motorcycle club [to which they both belonged], he was going to be beaten up." A deputy told he caller how to get a court-issued retraining order against the other club member.

OLEMA – A deputy at 2:03 p.m. Oct. 10 on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard cited a motorist on charges of "exhibition of speed on a highway" and of driving without a license.

BOLINAS – School staff at 2:46 p.m. Oct. 10 reported a 13-year-old boy was having an asthma attack. Medics transported him to a hospital.

POINT REYES STATION – A woman from the gas station at 4:49 p.m. Oct. 10 reported a green Lexus had just driven off without paying for $40 worth of gasoline. She said the driver was a man in his 50s and that the Lexus had a handicapped-parking tag on it.

 

October 13, 2005 Sheriff's Calls

MUIR BEACH – The Highway Patrol at 10:52 p.m. Sunday asked that a deputy remove a deer, which had been killed in traffic, from the southbound lane of Highway 1 at the turnoff to the overlook. A deputy could not find the deer.

BOLINAS – A man staying in an inn on Wharf Road found a woman’s purse on a bench and at 9 a.m. Sunday turned it over to a deputy for safekeeping. The purse contained several credit cards and at least $20 in cash.

POINT REYES STATION – Deputies at 11:42 a.m. Sunday received a report that "kids in a VW threw firecrackers into grass" along the Point Reyes-Petaluma Road west of Platform Bridge. The Volkswagen was heading toward town.

INVERNESS PARK – A man at 11:47 a.m. Sunday notified deputies that someone had left a message on his answering machine, harassing him for being gay. The man said he believes he knows who the culprit is. Deputies took an harassment report.

WOODACRE – A resident at 6:15 p.m. Sunday told deputies that his van had been vandalized during the past week. The wing windows were broken, he said.

INVERNESS PARK – Deputies at 7:19 p.m. Saturday of cows loose on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard. A deputy later reported the cows were "corralled by rancher."

FOREST KNOLLS – A Sir Francis Drake Boulevard resident at 11:14 p.m. Saturday complained of loud drumming in the area. A deputy contacted a "small group of adults having an outdoor party." He "advised" them about the complained, and they "stopped drumming."

STINSON BEACH – A patrolcar receive "minor, cosmetic [damage] to a right front fender at 1 a.m. Sunday.

STINSON BEACH – A man at 1:08 a.m. Sunday complained of "eight to 10 juveniles being loud, with a bonfire on the beach." A deputy directed the youths to "extinguish" the bonfire, after which they were "moved along."

HICKS VALLEY – Deputies received word at 9:01 a.m. Saturday that the burglar alarm was going off at Lincoln School. Deputies determined that it was "accidentally set off by the weekend janitor."

POINT REYES STATION – A motorist at 10:17 a.m. Saturday went to the firestation to complain "that a bicyclist punched his car." He said the culprit had now left the area.

OLEMA – Deputies at 1:55 p.m. Saturday received a report of a "solo [vehicle] rollover of a wheelchair-bound female." The 84-year-old woman "fell from the wheelchair," but "nothing appears broken," deputies were told. Medics transported her to a hospital.

MARSHALL – Deputies at 5:14 p.m. Saturday received a report from Highway 1 that luggage, which contained a $1,500 pair of earrings," had been stolen. A deputy took a grand-theft report.

TOMALES – A motorist 8:30 p.m. Friday reported his motorhome had broken down beside the intersection of Dillon Beach Road and Highway 1. A dispatcher told deputies the motorist "has tried several tows, but they say it is too dangerous and will not come out."

WOODACRE – A resident at 9:36 p.m. Friday requested advice regarding her "evicted ex-[husband], who may be coming by this weekend." A deputy gave her advice regarding an officer’s providing a "civil standby."

TOMALES – A woman at the high school at 1:22 p.m. Friday reported a student had stolen a wallet and cash from a 15-year-old boy’s locker.

NICASIO – A Camino Margarita resident at 4:10 p.m. Friday complained he had bought something via the Internet for $311, and when the package arrived, it was empty. He said he would take the matter up with the fraud division of E-Bay.

FOREST KNOLLS – A resident at 5:06 p.m. Friday reported a brown van had been "parked for a week with people living in it" at Guadalupe Avenue and Montezuma Road.

INVERNESS PARK – A resident at 9:06 p.m. last Thursday reported "a dead-animal smell possibly coming from a blue Cherokee Chief Jeep with out-of-state plates." He said the Jeep was parked on Portola Avenue, but a deputy could not find it.

STINSON BEACH – The Highway Patrol at 10:59 p.m. last Thursday responded when a pickup truck overturned. The officer arrested the motorist on drunk-driving charges.

NICASIO – A Point Reyes-Petaluma Road resident at 8:56 a.m. last Thursday reported that a man in his 20s was sitting in a brown sedan parked at her cattle guard. The sedan moved when the woman drove out to the road and then moved back. When a deputy arrived, the sedan was gone.

POINT REYES STATION – A National Seashore visitor at 9:34 a.m. last Thursday turned in a purse found at the park’s North Beach. The purse contained a credit card and California driver’s license but no cash.

CHILENO VALLEY – Deputies at 11:03 a.m. last Thursday received a report that a vehicle had run into a pole and that the driver "seemed [mentally] out of it." The crash was on Wilson Hill Road 100 yards west of Chileno Valley Road. Officers were told that neighbors were currently with the victim.

NICASIO – Deputies at 7:50 p.m. last Wednesday were told that a vehicle had hit a deer at Lafranchi Lane and Nicasio Creek Road. The deer was reportedly still alive and in the area, but a deputy could not find it.

POINT REYES STATION – The Highway Patrol at 10:45 p.m. last Wednesday asked that a deputies assist with removing a dead deer from the Point Reyes-Petaluma Road.

CHILENO VALLEY – A deputy on Wilson Hill Road at 3:43 a.m. last Wednesday stopped a Ford pickup and arrested the driver on a Sonoma County warrant. The deputy said the driver was "cooperative" and "slightly aware of the warrant."

MARSHALL – A man at 9:11 a.m. last Wednesday notified deputies that (at 7 a.m.) a pregnant woman had experienced numbness on the left side of her face and her hand. She had also been feeling dizzy and had experienced vision problems. Medics responded.

BOLINAS – A woman at 9:52 a.m. last Wednesday notified deputies of a 73-year-old man who had been suffering "severe headaches, vertigo, and nausea for three weeks."

BOLINAS – A deputy at 2:07 p.m. last Wednesday was flagged down and notified of a mentally ill man in a bathtub. A deputy reported the 59-year-old man is "known to be uncooperative" and that he was "in complete alcohol distress." He was in an altered state of mind and had been put in the bathtub when he became incontinent. When a deputy asked if he had been consuming alcohol, the man "nodded."

MUIR BEACH – A man at 2:31 p.m. last Wednesday complained that several people were "throwing rocks at cars" and "causing a disturbance" in the federal parking lot. US Park Police handled the incident.

NICASIO – A Marin Municipal Water District ranger at 4:56 p.m. last Wednesday notified deputies that two people in a boat were in the middle of the reservoir. The ranger cited the pair on charges of illegally boating on a reservoir.

SAN GERONIMO – County firefighters at 5:27 p.m. last Wednesday complained to deputies that an "uncooperative" man had a sweatlodge, and the Fire Department wanted it shut down.

BOLINAS – A resident at 11:05 p.m. Oct. 4 complained about a "loud, obnoxious party" in the area of Ocean Parkway and Overlook Drive. A deputy "located the disturbance," and a man "agreed to turn down his music." The man then "left the area."

BOLINAS –A Terrace Avenue resident at 11:38 a.m. Oct. 4 reported a bicycle had been left on his property for the past two weeks. A deputy took it for safekeeping.

STINSON BEACH – A woman on Highway 1 at 2:14 p.m. Oct. 4 reported receiving a "rambling, threatening letter in today’s mail." A deputy took a report.

FOREST KNOLLS – A resident at 2:24 p.m. Oct. 4 complained about a brown van with people in it staying next to the park. He said the driver was an approximately 50-year-old man.

STINSON BEACH – A Belvedere Avenue resident at 3:08 p.m. Oct. 4 complained that the road had been closed for nine hours and was still closed because a "contractor is building a house and is dredging." The county Planning Division staff told the deputy "to have [the resident] call them or the Department of Public Works regarding a house being build without permits or [permits for] road closures."

POINT REYES-PETALUMA ROAD – Deputies at 5:06 p.m. Oct. 4 received a report of a "red vehicle into a ditch." It was towed out.

STINSON BEACH – A 66-year-old woman, who is allergic to bee stings, at 8:38 p.m. Oct. 3, reported she had just been stung. Medics responded.

BOLINAS – An Ocean Avenue resident at 9:10 p.m. Oct. 3 notified deputies that she had gone outside and found an 18-year-old boy (whom she recognized) on her stairs. She said the boy, whom she believes was drunk, then left on a bicycle. A deputy could not find him.

STINSON BEACH – A man at 9:49 p.m. Oct. 3 complained that small group of people were burning creosote-soaked logs on the beach and creating a "very smelly" bonfire. A deputy directed that the fire be put out.

MUIR BEACH – A resident at 7:50 a.m. Oct. 3 reported that at 9:30 p.m. the previous day she "had heard a woman screaming for help for approximately 20 minutes." She said the screaming was coming from the area of Seacape Drive and that she didn’t know why the other woman was screaming.

OLEMA – Deputies at 7:55 a.m. Oct. 3 got word that a cow was on Bear Valley Road. A deputy contacted a rancher and the "cow was reunited."

BOLINAS – A landowner at 10:58 a.m. Oct. 3 complained that someone was sleeping in a blue tent on his property.

BOLINAS – A woman at 11:29 a.m. Oct. 3 said her 41-year-old sister was missing. She said her sister had been distraught since yesterday "after dogs killed her cat in front of her."

MARSHALL – A man at 2:39 p.m. Oct. 3 told deputies that a burglar had stolen a $100 CD player from his car while it was parked in Millerton State Park. Deputies noted the crime occurred in state park jurisdiction and referred the man to rangers.

BOLINAS – Medics at 4:12 p.m. Oct. 3 responded to the Little Mesa when a 50-year-old woman with a history of cancer became short of breath.

 

October 6, 2005 Sheriff's Calls

POINT REYES STATION – A levee road resident at 7:16 p.m. Sunday notified deputies he had just heard six gunshots west of his house. He said the noise was definitely not fireworks or a vehicle backfiring. Deputies were unable to find anything amiss.

SAN GERONIMO – A woman at 7:27 p.m. Sunday reported a drunk man was in a vehicle and refusing to get out of it. She told officers his "wife has taken the [car] keys from him but requests assistance." Deputies arrested the man on charges of public drunkenness and resisting arrest.

STINSON BEACH – A Panoramic Highway resident at 9:06 p.m. Sunday complained of hearing loud music for the past two hours. All was quiet when a deputy arrived.

POINT REYES STATION – A woman at 12:49 a.m. Monday notified deputies that a second woman was acting crazy. The caller said the second woman was in the middle of the main street "screaming that her cat was ripped apart today." The caller said the second woman was acting so distraught she’d taken away the woman’s car keys.

STINSON BEACH – A San Joaquin Patio resident at 3:02 a.m. Monday complained of hearing loud music for an hour but couldn’t tell where it was coming from. A deputy checked the neighborhood and reported, "No noise heard in the area. No signs of a party or gathering."

DOGTOWN – A man at 12:25 p.m. Sunday reported a motorcycle had crashed on Highway 1. He said he could see a "deformity to the right ankle" of the 21-year-old biker, who reported pain in the ankle. The man said the motorcyclist’s "bike went out from under him" but that the biker "does not recall the incident."

STINSON BEACH – Deputies and medics at 1:10 p.m. Sunday responded to the Willow Camp Fire Road after receiving a report that a 53-year-old woman "fell down the side of the mountain." The woman apparently slid on her legs, and she told the caller that one leg "feels broken" and that she has "pain in an ankle." The caller added that the victim gets "dizzy when she tries to walk." The spot of the accident was given as "a mile up from the trailhead above the water tank."

BOLINAS – A homeless man living in a tent on the Big Mesa at 4:34 p.m. notified deputies that three men were "cutting a trail on somebody else’s property" near Cherry and Maple roads. The homeless man said deputies are familiar with him.

WOODACRE – A resident at 6:18 p.m. Sunday reported a "large school bus camped out" beside Redwood and San Geronimo Valley drives. When a deputy checked, the bus was unoccupied, but he said he would check again.

BOLINAS – A resident at 8:12 p.m. Saturday complained that a second man, who has secured a court-issued restraining order against him, was currently sleeping in a vehicle outside the resident’s home. He said he "feels [he is] being harassed and followed" by the second man and "would like him removed." The resident noted he is going to get his own restraining order against the other man.

INVERNESS – A resident at 11:47 p.m. Saturday complained about a loud party on Woodhaven Road. When a deputy arrived, all was quiet, and he reported that "no loud music or party [was] heard."

INVERNESS PARK – A resident at midnight Saturday told a dispatcher that "brothers of his ex-wife are coming to town to kill him." The dispatcher noted the man, who is on medication, "sounds confused."

TOCALOMA – A woman at 8:53 a.m. Saturday notified deputies that a vehicle with its back window broken out was in a ditch beside Sir Francis Drake Boulevard. She said the vehicle could not be seen from the roadway. The Highway Patrol determined, "The crash occurred awhile ago, as the engine is cold."

INVERNESS PARK – Medics responded at 10:30 a.m. Saturday when a 74-year-old woman fell and couldn’t get up. The resident suffered a leg injury in the fall, and medics transported her to Kaiser Hospital.

WOODACRE – A deputy at Sir Francis Drake Boulevard and Railroad Avenue at 2:46 p.m. Saturday stopped a Pontiac and arrested the motorist on a Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office warrant.

TOCALOMA – The Highway Patrol and medics responded to Sir Francis Drake Boulevard east of downtown after a vehicle overturned. Medics took the driver, who cut his arm, to Kaiser Hospital.

TOMALES – A Highway 1 resident at 8:17 p.m. Friday notified deputies that a transient was looking through her garage. The man was gone when a deputy arrived.

STINSON BEACH – A Rafael Patio resident, who last week reported a burglary at his neighbor’s house, at 8:27 a.m. Friday reported the possible suspect was now on Calle del Arroyo. As he also reported last week, the resident said the suspect drives a blue Mercedes.

TOMALES – A woman from the high school at 9:48 a.m. Friday reported two vehicles, one of which belongs to the school, had collided on school property. No one was injured, and the vehicle was not a school bus, she said.

NICASIO – A woman at 10:49 a.m. Friday complained that a second woman, who lives on Nicasio Valley Road, had been taking care of her birds and was now refusing to return them. A deputy noted that the woman had made the same complaint more than a month ago. Once again he told her that the dispute is a matter of civil law, not criminal law.

TOMALES – A woman at 10:51 a.m. Friday reported her daughter’s hand-held computer had been stolen from her daughter’s backpack at the high school in May. A deputy had managed to recover the computer for her, but now it doesn’t work, she said. She asked for advice.

DILLON BEACH – A resort manager at 8:36 p.m. last Thursday notified deputies that two males had pulled all the picnic tables at the day beach together, poured gasoline on them, and set them on fire. They then drove off at high speed in a two-door sportscar. She noted that employees had extinguished the fire.

NICASIO – A woman at 5:18 p.m. Friday reported her 18-year-old son had taken sleeping medication and drunk alcohol. She said he was now in an altered state of mind. He "is sleepy but can be roused," she said. The boy’s parents said he has no history of suicide attempts. Medics transported him to Marin General Hospital.

POINT REYES STATION – A man at 9:57 a.m. last Thursday went to the sheriff’s substation to report his wallet had been stolen the previous Saturday while he was at a party. The thief has now used his credit card, he said. A deputy took a fraud report.

FOREST KNOLLS – A resident at 11:11a.m. last Thursday reported two people in the neighborhood were bringing in tanks that, she believed, contained oxygen and helium. She said she was concerned that the two intended to establish an illicit methamphetamine lab. A deputy spoke to one of the people, who said he owns the property.

BOLINAS – A 51-year-old woman, who’d had a heart attack two weeks ago, reported at 11:29 a.m. last Thursday that she was having chest pains.

FOREST KNOLLS – A deputy in the Montezuma Avenue area at 11:53 a.m. last Thursday found a three-foot-high marijuana plant growing on private property 100 yards from Open Space District land. "The plant was pulled up and will be destroyed," he reported.

OLEMA – The Highway Patrol at 1:29 p.m. last Thursday reported there was a loose cow on Highway 1. The CHP handled the matter.

WOODACRE – A San Geronimo Valley Drive resident at 3:25 p.m. last Thursday complained that a yellow school bus for three days had been parked on the side of the roadway with someone living in it. When a deputy arrived, no one was around the bus, and he tagged it to be towed in 72 hours.

WOODACRE – Deputies at 3:44 p.m. last Thursday received a report of possible vandalism on Fern Avenue. A deputy noted that a year ago a motorist had hit a retaining wall and then a small fence. He said a small claims court had dealt with the mishap and that he could not see any new damage.

MUIR BEACH – A man at 5:14 p.m. last Thursday complained about an "aggressive man on the beach." He said the second man, who was in his 20s and accompanied by four other people, had "yelled at his dog and threatened [the caller] and his dog with a fishing pole." The caller said he had already contacted park rangers, who were en route.

STINSON BEACH – A woman at 5:16 p.m. last Thursday reported her unlocked bicycle had been stolen from where she had parked it along Highway 1 near Red Rock Beach. She said the bicycle was worth $280.

FALLON – The Highway Patrol at 6:58 p.m. last Thursday reported that "someone had opened the gate to the field" at Marsh and Valley Ford-Franklin School roads. "There are 20 head of cows in the roadway and several more still in the field," the CHP reported. Deputies notified a rancher.

BOLINAS – A resident at 12:16 p.m. last Wednesday complained that a landowner along Ocean Parkway was cutting brush to create a pathway although a county hearing would not be held until this week on what he could do with his property.

NICASIO – A San Rafael Police officer at 2:22 p.m. last Wednesday notified deputies that a man, who "sounds drunk," has "been making harassing calls to an agency in San Rafael." The officer said there was a revocation-of-probation warrant out for the man, who is involved in a resisting-arrest case. A deputy told the man not to make any more calls and informed him about the warrant. As for the condition of the man, he was "okay," the deputy noted.

NICASIO – Lifeline at 3:30 p.m. last Wednesday told deputies that an 83-year-old woman had fallen, was not injured, but needed help getting up.

BOLINAS – A man on Wharf Road at 4:25 p.m. last Wednesday told deputies that a man, who had been drinking, was in front of the library and that three people, one of them female, were drinking alcohol in front of the community center. A deputy noted there had been a verbal fight at the scene, but those who had been involved left before he arrived.

FALLON – A deputy on Fallon-Two Rock Road at 5:45 p.m. last Wednesday arrested a man on a San Jose Police Department warrant. The man is involved in a case involving drunk driving, resisting arrest, and violating probation.

WOODACRE – A Central Avenue resident at 7:08 p.m. last Wednesday reported a vandal had broken both sideview windows on his Chevrolet during the past week.

BOLINAS – A Big Mesa resident at 8:22 p.m. last Wednesday told deputies that at 1:30 p.m. a 42-year-old second man had come onto the resident’s property in a dark-tan car, which was driven by a third man. The resident described the second man as "demanding a dog leash." The resident "got him rope, but when [he] got back from town, [he] found his dog’s leash missing." The leash was worth only $15, the resident said, but he wanted to file a theft report.

BOLINAS – A woman on Wharf Road at 8:59 p.m. last Wednesday said drunk people had been in front of the library all day and that one kept going inside and asking her to call police. She said she was leaving with an escort. Deputies could not find the drunks.

POINT REYES STATION – A Mesa Road resident at 3:47 a.m. last Thursday reported there was a "man outside the door stumbling and falling." She said her "husband has the door open" and that it "sounds like [the man outside] is drunk or on drugs. He says someone dropped him off." She described the man as "maybe in his 80s," adding that he "appears out of it." Medics responded.
