TOMALES A deputy at 2:38 a.m. Sunday found a 22-year-old Tomales resident who had been vandalizing the town park, officers reported. Deputies said the young man spun donuts in the park with his Ford Ranger pickup truck and also undermined playground equipment by spinning his tires under it. Deputies said they caught the young man when his truck became stuck in sand. The 22-year old was allowed to free his truck, using a shovel, and made to fill in the holes his wheels had dug next to playground equipment, an officer said. The young man was cited on charges of vandalism.
STINSON BEACH A man at 2 p.m. Oct. 22 called deputies from Belvedere Avenue to report that a vandal had broken his left sideview mirror.
STINSON BEACH A Seadrift Security guard at 3:38 p.m. Sunday notified deputies he had found on the beach a purse belonging to a 25-year-old San Francisco woman. Deputies said they would try to contact her.
BOLINAS A Terrace Avenue resident at 7:27 p.m. Monday reported the front door was open and an alarm was beeping at the home of her senior-citizen neighbors. A deputy found the neighbors had been cooking sausages when the sausages began to smoke, setting off the smoke alarm, and causing the neighbors to open the door to air out the house.
HICKS VALLEY A resident at 7:59 a.m. Monday complained that a trespasser was walking on the hillside above his house.
POINT REYES STATION The Highway Patrol at 8:01 a.m. Monday reported a blue vehicle was in the bushes across the Point Reyes-Petaluma Road from Black Mountain. A deputy said the vehicle had been involved in a crash Saturday, and the Highway Patrol agreed to have it towed away.
WOODACRE A Madrone Avenue resident at 9:46 a.m. Oct. 22 asked for extra patrols in her neighborhood after an ex-con wrote a letter accusing numerous landowners of waging "psychological warfare" against him. The man, who had served time on rape charges, wrote, "Crack cocaine...enhances a persons sense of hearing. I suddenly began hearing subliminal messages." He said the messages directed him to "buy drugs" and masturbate. The man demanded that homeowners, businesses, and governments turn over their property to him and pay extensive penalties or he would file a civil-rights lawsuit against them for conspiring to murder him, torture him, invade his privacy, and conduct psychological warfare against him. After the letter was circulated in the area of the Improvement Club, deputies at 10:37 a.m. Monday received another call from a Madrone Avenue woman who felt the letter was "very threatening." A deputy told the caller how to get a court to issue an order restraining the man. At 11:48 a.m. the same day, a woman on Rock Ridge Court also reported seeing the mans letter.
BOLINAS An Alder Road resident at 1:08 p.m. Monday reported that a stranger was using her name and Social Security number.
WOODACRE After a 47-year-old alcoholic missed an appointment with her probation officer, a deputy at 1:31 p.m. Monday was asked to try to find her, arrest her if she was drunk, and to tell her to call her probation officer if she wasnt.
FOREST KNOLLS A 17-year-old boy was taken to a hospital by helicopter at 7:46 p.m. Sunday when a four-foot fall left him groggy.
SAN GERONIMO During a minor remodeling of a cottage on Juniper Avenue, an appliance was disconnected from its propane line, and the line by accident was not capped. By 8:35 p.m. Sunday, the gas had filled the crawl space under the cottage and reached an "ignition" source, which county firefighters suspect was the hotwater heater. The resulting explosion did remarkably little damage and was kept under control with garden hoses until firefighters arrived. Firefighters said the only damage was some charring of structural wood and damage to electrical wires. The damage was estimated at $1,000.
FOREST KNOLLS A Tamal Road resident at 9:18 p.m. Sunday reported hearing numerous shots from possibly as far away as five miles in the direction of Point Reyes Station.
POINT REYES STATION An anonymous resident at 10:28 p.m. Sunday reported music in a bar was louder than usual and making the residents "house shake." A bartender promised to have the volume lowered, to stop the music at midnight instead of 1 a.m., and to close down the music if the noise problem persisted.
POINT REYES STATION The Highway Patrol at 2:17 a.m. Sunday reported a traffic accident on the northern section of Mesa Road.
NICASIO Deputies at 8:27 p.m. Saturday contacted a rancher when five of his cows got loose on Nicasio Valley Road. The rancher rounded up the cows and fixed his fence.
LAGUNITAS A woman at 8:37 p.m. Saturday reported her 16-year-old daughter had been missing since 7 a.m. Thursday when she was dropped off at high school. The mother said her daughter had no history of running away. At 11:37 p.m. Saturday, the daughter called her mother to say she was at a friends house. A deputy cited her on charges of running away from home.
POINT REYES STATION A vehicle ran off the pavement at Highway 1 and the Point Reyes-Petaluma Road at 1:30 a.m. Sunday. When deputies arrived at the scene, no one was in the vehicle. The Highway Patrol arranged to have it towed away.
FOREST KNOLLS A Resaca Avenue resident at 6:38 a.m. Saturday asked deputies to remove a process server from her front porch, noting that she had posted "No Trespassing" signs on her property. She said the process server who came to her door was open about being a process server.
WOODACRE A San Geronimo Valley Drive resident at 9:35 a.m. Sunday reported that the car of a 27-year-old woman, who is wanted on a Sonoma County warrant for receiving stolen property, was parked at his house.
FOREST KNOLLS A Sir Francis Drake Boulevard resident at 10:48 a.m. Saturday reported that the previous day a man in his 20s or 30s had dumped a filing cabinet and boxes in the Valley. He said the culprit was driving a 1950, bright-orange pickup truck.
STINSON BEACH Deputies received a report at 10:54 a.m. Saturday that a motorcyclist had fallen on Panoramic Highway near the water tanks. The CHP, however, told deputies they were not needed at the scene.
OLEMA A woman at 3:10 p.m. Saturday called deputies from the lobby of a lodge to say a man, who had been running, now felt as if his throat were closing up. She said his face was swelling but that he has no history of allergies. Fire department medics took him by ambulance to a hospital.
PT. REYES-PETALUMA ROAD A rescue helicopter was summoned at 4:39 p.m. Saturday when vehicles driven by two older men collided. Firefighters reported the crash was blocking the westbound lane.
STINSON BEACH A store employee at 7:51 a.m. Saturday told deputies he was upset that his manager had yelled at him. He said he wanted a deputy to "ask the manager not to yell at him anymore so as not to cause fights." An officer gave advice to both men.
POINT REYES STATION A man at 9:07 a.m. Saturday reported that a 41-year-old man, who was depressed but not suicidal, had called him the previous day.
BOLINAS A man at 9:08 a.m. Saturday complained about the lack of a sign at the end of Ocean Parkway and said his wife almost ran off the road where there is a cliff. A deputy gave him advice.
OLEMA A man at 10:42 a.m. Saturday reported that various items had been stolen from a camper who is Spanish-speaking, and a language barrier was interfering with getting the details.
INVERNESS Deputies at 4:21 p.m. Saturday received a report that a purse had been lost on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard.
NICASIO A 50-year-old woman on Camino Margarita at 7:16 p.m. Friday reported having trouble breathing. Deputies were told she was pale in color and that she felt as if something was stuck in her throat even though she hadnt been eating.
INVERNESS PARK A woman at 10:20 p.m. Friday complained about a large gathering, who were drinking and playing their radios loudly beside Sir Francis Drake Boulevard.
POINT REYES STATION Deputies and medics responded at 12:56 a.m. Saturday when officers received word that an 89-year-old-man was on the floor and had not been able to get up for several hours. Officers noted his sister was en route with a key to his house.
POINT REYES STATION An 86-year-old woman with a pacemaker was taken by ambulance to Kaiser Hospital when she developed chest and back pains at 7:57 a.m. Friday.
WOODACRE A San Geronimo Valley Drive merchant at 12:10 p.m. last Thursday reported the business door had been vandalized.
BOLINAS A deputy on Bolinas Beach at 9:07 a.m. Saturday arrested a man on an out-of-county warrant.
PT. REYES-PETALUMA ROAD A deputy at 5:15 p.m. Saturday arrested a man on charges of public drunkenness.
SAN GERONIMO A man at 7:20 p.m. last Thursday said he and his 12-year-old son were renting a cottage on San Geronimo Valley Drive and that the owner was trying to kick them out. He said he had a receipt showing he had paid for lodgings through that night.
BOLINAS Deputies at 1:23 p.m. Friday received a complaint about parking congestion in an area where a construction crew was working. Officers were told that a dozen vehicles parked at Terrace Avenue and Marine Way were causing access problems for people who live in the area. A deputy at the scene had a boat on a trailer moved.
POINT REYES STATION Deputies at 8:02 p.m. last Thursday received a report of six men drinking near the south end of the main street. The problem was abated.
BOLINAS Two vehicles collided at Horseshoe Hill and Olema-Bolinas roads at 9:26 p.m. last Thursday, but no one was injured.
HICKS VALLEY Firefighters at 9:38 a.m. last Thursday notified deputies that a car had run off Hicks Valley Road and knocked down a power pole. Although medics were sent to the scene, the vehicles occupants were gone by the time the medics arrived. The CHP reported a tow would be needed.
SAN GERONIMO A San Geronimo Valley Drive resident at 2:49 a.m. Friday reported the mother of his 12-year-old son had returned and climbed into their house through a bedroom window. The man said he had managed to get her out of the room and asked his son to call 911. The man said the woman had "left in a big, one-ton truck."
NICASIO A Lucas Valley Road resident at 9:33 a.m. last Wednesday reported several thousand dollars worth of purchases had been fraudulently charged to his credit card since Oct. 18.
FOUR CORNERS Deputies at 8:56 p.m. Oct. 22 received a report of a dead deer lying partly in a traffic lane of the Point Reyes-Petaluma Road.
STINSON BEACH Deputies and medics responded to Sacramento Patio Oct. 22 when a two-year-old fell onto concrete and began vomiting. The child was taken by ambulance to where a rescue helicopter could land.
POINT REYES STATION Deputies at 1:06 p.m. Oct. 22 received a report of a traffic accident with minor injuries on Fourth Street.
POINT REYES STATION Sheriffs Lt. Rich Ginnodo, commander of the West Marin Substation, has asked The Light to let readers know that a campaign to remove abandoned cars is underway in West Marin. Lt. Ginnodo said the Sheriffs Office will arrange to have abandoned vehicles towed off private property, as well as public property, if the landowner signs a release. STINSON BEACH The Bank of America contacted a Calle de la Onda resident to say someone had made a written request to have the address of his account changed. The bank, however, noticed that the signature on the request didnt match the residents signature and called him. The man at 10:52 a.m. last Wednesday notified deputies he had never authorized the request.
STINSON BEACH A Seadrift Road resident at 11:51 a.m. Feb. 11 reported that her medication had been stolen.
STINSON BEACH A man at 4:40 a.m. Tuesday notified deputies that his pickup truck, which was parked at the Highway 1 stopsign, had a flat tire and that he needed help with a jack.
NATIONAL SEASHORE A ranger at 1:58 p.m. Monday notified deputies she had locked herself out of her Park Service vehicle. A deputy drove her to park headquarters, where she picked up a duplicate key, and then drove her back to her vehicle.
WOODACRE A woman at 3:24 p.m. Monday told officers she had received a call from another woman, 44, who asked for psychiatric help. The second woman, who has a suicidal history, had taken Tylenol. The log did not indicate if the dose was unusual.
POINT REYES STATION A citizen at 9:33 a.m. Sunday walked into the firehouse to report a collision on Highway 1 near the school. Both drivers were standing by, the citizen said. Deputies notified the Highway Patrol, but when a CHP officer arrived on the scene, the vehicles were gone.
TOCALOMA A man at 11:30 a.m. Sunday complained about a gray Acura Legend, which had three juveniles inside, passing vehicles on the right and over double lines.
DILLON BEACH A woman called deputies from Marine View Drive on Sunday to report that during the night, vandals had pulled the boards off a pumphouse to burn in their campfire. She estimated the damage at $500.
FOUR CORNERS A man at 1:39 p.m. Sunday complained that 12 youths in camouflage were at a deer camp armed with paintball guns. He said he had told them they were trespassing, but they "blew off" the admonition. The man said he was worried about the safety of the youths because it is deer season and they were entering a deer-hunting area.
INVERNESS PARK A woman at 6:15 p.m. Sunday reported that 30 minutes earlier she had heard a number of gunshots to the north of her. She said all was quiet now.
POINT REYES STATION A woman at 8:55 p.m. Saturday complained about "hundreds of runners in the road." She said, "Vehicles are swerving to avoid them" and that the situation is "very dangerous." When a deputy found some of the runners at Four Corners, they were staying off the main part of the roadway and had escort vehicles.
POINT REYES STATION A car hit a deer on the Point Reyes-Petaluma Road at 9:33 p.m. Saturday. A deputy shot the injured animal to put it out of its misery.
LAGUNITAS San Anselmo Police at 10:53 p.m. Saturday notified deputies that two naked men and two clothed men might be in town. Police said a motorist, who flagged a officer down, had shouted only limited information out of his car window before driving off. Deputies checked the San Geronimo Valley west through Samuel P. Taylor State Park and found nothing amiss.
FOREST KNOLLS A Montezuma Avenue resident at 11:41 p.m. Saturday notified deputies that five to seven youths were in front of a store. A deputy moved them along.
STINSON BEACH Seadrift Security at 12:34 a.m. notified deputies that a Seadrift Road resident had complained that five males, who had rented the house next door, had an illegal bonfire on the beach. A man from Seadrift Security quoted the resident as say that when he asked the group to put out the fire, they "got belligerent, yelling obscenities." The group left before a deputy arrived.
DILLON BEACH A woman on Marine View Drive at 2:35 a.m. Sunday complained about a group of 40 "college kids...drinking and partying loudly." Two deputies should respond, she said, because "they are very drunk." When a deputy arrived, he found that all but 10 to 15 members of the group were asleep.
MARSHALL Deputies at 2:45 a.m. Sunday received a report that a red-and-white pickup truck had run off Highway 1 and over an embankment. Officers could not find the driver and reported that from the appearances of a door, the driver probably got out of the truck without needing assistance.
POINT REYES STATION A merchant at 9:49 a.m. Saturday complained about people setting up a table along Highway 1 to sell glassware out of a vehicle. A deputy determined the people did not have a vendors permit, so he moved them along.
BOLINAS An anonymous caller at 2:36 p.m. Saturday complained about vehicles parked in no-parking zones around Brighton and Park avenues, making it impossible for any emergency vehicles to get through. A deputy could not find any parking violations or hazards at the location.
MARSHALL County firefighters at 2:37 p.m. Saturday reported a capsized vessel in Tomales Bay. The Coast Guard picked two out of the water, and a third swam ashore. However, the third person might have broken bones, deputies were told, and the beach he was on was not accessible from any road. In addition, the fog was too low for a helicopter rescue.
BOLINAS Deputies and medics responded at 3:13 p.m. Saturday when a man on Wharf Road dislocated a shoulder. It was not reported how the injury occurred.
STINSON BEACH A resident at 4:14 p.m. Saturday complained about very loud music from a restaurant and claimed no one had any permits for the music. A deputy was unable to find any loud music in the area.
FOREST KNOLLS Deputies and medics responded at 11:51 a.m. Friday when a 54-year-old woman reported having "severe abdominal pain." Medics from the county fire department transported her to Marin General Hospital.
BOLINAS A Kale Road resident at 4:46 p.m. Friday reported hearing someone "yelling or howling...for the past few hours." The resident, who described the sound as "high-pitched noises," could not make out the words. Initially the resident thought the sound was coming from an animal but later concluded it was coming from a human.
BOLINAS A man at 7:01 p.m. last Wednesday reported his 47-year-old wife was currently suffering from an undiagnosed medical problem. He said she has a history of alcoholism and mental problems. At the moment, he said, she was "just groaning not able to talk." The husband said he did not know if his wife had been drinking but that it appeared she had not gotten out of bed all day, even when she urinated. Two days later, the wife told deputies her husband had abused her three days earlier (on Tuesday) and that she has facial bruises she wanted documented.
POINT REYES STATION A 70-year-old Highway 1 resident was taken to Marin General Hospital by ambulance when she began suffering pain on the left side of her chest. She has a history of hypertension.
STINSON BEACH Calle del Arroyo, a man at 5:24 p.m. Friday complained about juveniles "blaring loud music" and said the youths had partied to 1 a.m. the previous night. A deputy determined the music was coming from Francisco Patio where young adults were renting a residence for the weekend. They were gone when a deputy arrived.
FOUR CORNERS The county Department of Public Works at 5:58 p.m. Friday reported a black-and-white cow was in the intersection. A Highway Patrolman could not find it.
SAN GERONIMO A Tamarack Road resident at 10:33 p.m. last Thursday reported she could hear people screaming after a vehicle hit a tree at Fir Avenue and Tamarack Road.
INVERNESS PARK A Laurel Avenue resident at 8:25 a.m. last Thursday told deputies her car may have been embezzled. She said that on Sept. 17, she had sold it to some people for $700, and they promised to pay her in two installments. However, she said, they have paid nothing, and she wanted to know if she can take the car back.
NICASIO A Lucas Valley Road resident, who had previously reported mail had been stolen from her, notified deputies at 8:38 a.m. last Thursday that more mail had been taken than she initially realized.
MUIR BEACH Green Gulch Farm last Thursday reported a large plastic bag had been dumped from Highway 1 down a hillside above the farm. The bag smelled bad, deputies were told. An officer found a dead, very decayed animal in the bag.
LAGUNITAS A man at 1:28 p.m. last Thursday told deputies his car had been parked at North Kent Lake when a window was smashed and several items were stolen. Deputies referred the matter to Marin Municipal Water District, on whose property the crime occurred.
STINSON BEACH Medics responded at 6:24 p.m. last Thursday when an 81-year-old Seadrift Road resident received a half-inch cut in her shin from a fire log.
LAGUNITAS A Charles Lane man at 10:01 p.m. last Wednesday notified deputies that a 19 year old had just knifed a car belonging to the mans son.
SAN GERONIMO Two vehicles collided at Sir Francis Drake Boulevard and Nicasio Valley Road at 8:21 a.m. last Wednesday, but no one was hurt. The drivers exchanged information, and one of them needed a towtruck.
OLEMA A restaurant employee told deputies at 10:08 p.m. Oct. 15 that a man, who was either drunk or mentally unstable, was standing outside asking for a ride to Fairfax. She said she had offered the man a ride before "realizing he was out of it." Finally, a bartender offered the man a ride home.
FOREST KNOLLS A deputy on Montezuma Avenue at 10:34 a.m. Oct. 15 arrested a 58-year-old man on a warrant from an assault case.
BOLINAS An anonymous caller at 3:05 p.m. Oct. 15 reported that three or four "scruffy" men were drinking on her Wharf Road property. They were gone when a deputy arrived.
BOLINAS A man at 3:35 p.m. Oct. 15 reported a digital camera had been stolen from his vehicle two days earlier while it was parked on Wharf Road. He estimated his loss at $400 to $560.
BOLINAS A man at 4:06 p.m. Oct. 15 complained about a boat thats for sale. The boat on a trailer has been parked at Aspen and Poplar roads for a month, he said, and asked to have it removed under the sheriffs junked-vehicle-abatement program. However, a deputy told him, "We dont do boats."
WOODACRE Two vehicles collided at Railroad Avenue and Sir Francis Drake Boulevard at 4:41 p.m. Oct. 15.

October 17, 2002 Sheriff's Calls
STINSON BEACH A 49-year-old Stinson Beach man told officers Monday that at 3:30 p.m. Sunday he had been sitting at a vista point on Terrace Avenue in Bolinas when a homeless man in his 40s to 50s rode up on a bicycle. When the Stinson man said hed heard the homeless man had some CDs for sale and asked if that was true, the homeless man became angry. The Stinson man said the homeless man raised the front wheel of his bicycle and struck him in the chest with it. When the Stinson man pushed the wheel aside, he said, he dropped his keys and when he bent over to pick them up, the homeless man hit him in the head. At 9:30 a.m. the next day, the Stinson man saw the suspect at Highway 1 and Calle del Mar in Stinson Beach. The Stinson man told officers he gave the homeless man three options: apologize, go to the park and fight it out man-to-man, or be reported to deputies. When the homeless man pedaled off, the Stinson man filed a report.
STINSON BEACH An elderly woman went into a restaurant at 2:30 p.m. Monday and said she had been walking at the waters edge when she found a shoe with a foot in it. A member of the restaurant staff notified deputies who, along with Park Service rangers, found a black, low-cut, mens Rockport right shoe with a foot inside it.
BOLINAS A motorist told deputies he was driving on the Olema-Bolinas Road at Brighton Avenue around 3:45 p.m. Sunday when another motorist, against whom the first man has a court-issued protective order, violated it by "flipping the bird" at him, as well as simulating pointing a handgun at him.
POINT REYES STATION West Marin deputies took a report at 11:51 a.m. Friday as a courtesy to San Francisco Police in a theft-of-medicine case. A 75-year-old San Francisco woman told police she believes her caregiver, 52, of Fairfax stole $120 worth of painkillers. The suspect last year, while taking care of a dying client in Bolinas, overdosed on what was suspected of being the dying womans painkiller.
JEWELL Deputies at 8:03 p.m. Sunday received a report of a rust-colored calf on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard.
OLEMA A deputy at 11:15 p.m. Sunday helped a rancher herd a cow off Highway 1 and back onto its ranch south of the cemetery. However, before long, the cow was back on the highway. Once again it was herded back into its pasture, and a hole in the fence was repaired.
STINSON BEACH An Alameda Patio resident at 11:33 p.m. Sunday complained that she had been awakened by a group on the beach with a bonfire. A deputy told the partygoers to put out their fire and told them it was illegal under a county ordinance.
BOLINAS Deputies and medics responded at 12:29 a.m. Monday when an insect stung a 60-year-old woman under her eye, causing her tongue to swell.
MARSHALL A deputy at 7:55 a.m. Monday removed a dead deer from Highway 1.
SAN GERONIMO A man told deputies at 11:32 a.m. Monday that while bicycle riding on Sunday he had lost his keys around Nicasio Valley Road and Sir Francis Drake Boulevard.
INVERNESS PARK A Laurel Avenue resident at 2:33 p.m. Monday called deputies to say she had left her electric barbecue "going full blast with food cooking on it." She asked if a deputy could unplug the barbecue. A deputy did.
BOLINAS A Rosewood Road resident at 2:56 p.m. Monday reported a 45-year-old man is stalking her and calls her collect at 4 a.m. She asked that deputies talk to the man, who has caused several disturbances in Bolinas and Olema in recent weeks.
INVERNESS PARK A resident at 4:59 p.m. Monday complained about a young man who sits in a car parked on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard and plays the cars stereo so loudly that it makes "her windows shake," a deputy reported. All was quiet when a deputy found the young man, but he nonetheless told the motorist to keep his radios volume turned down.
SAN GERONIMO A man at 7:11 p.m. Saturday reported six juveniles were riding go-carts at the school. A deputy could not find them.
LAGUNITAS A truck overturned at 7:24 p.m. Saturday, trapping the driver in the cab. However, the driver suffered only minor injuries.
INVERNESS PARK A merchant at 8:19 p.m. Saturday reported a deer, which had been struck in traffic on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard, was still alive. A deputy could not find it.
INVERNESS A man at 8:40 p.m. Saturday reported an envelope containing $200 had been taken from his bedroom while his landlord was showing the house to someone.
BOLINAS Deputies Saturday received a complaint regarding a loud party at Maple Road and Ocean Parkway. The host told a deputy the noise would be kept down and that cars blocking the street would be moved.
STINSON BEACH A Calle del Arroyo resident at 10:52 p.m. Saturday reported two teenagers were quarreling, with the male hitting the female. The resident intervened and brought the girl into his house for her safety.
DILLON BEACH A woman on Marine View Drive at 3:38 a.m. Sunday complained about loud campers.
LUCAS VALLEY ROAD Deputies and medics responded when a bicyclist fell over on Lucas Valley Road east of Big Rock at 11:57 a.m. Sunday.
STINSON BEACH A 60-year-old woman at 3:45 p.m. Saturday called for medical assistance after suffering stomach cramps for 24 hours. However, she noted, she needed to have her dog taken care of while she was being treated. Deputies said the woman refused to deal with the Humane Society.

BOLINAS LAGOON The Humane Society at 2:45 p.m. Saturday asked a deputy to check out a report of a deer stuck in the mud. A deputy could not find the deer.
DOGTOWN A deputy and Highway Patrol officer responded at 9:19 p.m. Saturday when a vehicle ran off Highway 1.
NICASIO A Nicasio Valley Road resident at 7:55 a.m. Friday reported her mailbox and two mailboxes belonging to neighbors had been vandalized during the night.
MARSHALL A Marshall-Petaluma Road resident at 10:56 a.m. Friday reported that for two nights a white Mercury Grand Marquis with its lights out had cruised her familys property.
POINT REYES STATION A merchant at 12:52 p.m. Friday reported that eight to 10 people protesting the possibly impending war in Iraq were blocking her parking lots entrance. The protesters were "not aggressive," she added. By the time a deputy reached the scene, the number of protesters was down to two.
INVERNESS PARK A Douglas Drive resident at 2:15 p.m. Friday reported a nighttime vandal had smashed the windows and dented the body of his vehicle, which was parked in front of his house.
SAN GERONIMO A member of the school district staff at 5:27 p.m. last Wednesday notified deputies that a burglar had stolen $150 worth of candy, food, and drinks from the snack bar on the soccer field. The snack bars padlock was missing, she added.
NICASIO A woman at 5:35 p.m. Friday reported there had been a theft from her mailbox and that the possible thief had tried to cash a stolen check in Martinez.
POINT REYES STATION A car overturned on the Point Reyes-Petaluma Road at 7:41 p.m. Friday, trapping a 45- to 50-year-old woman inside.
NATIONAL SEASHORE A woman at 7:41 p.m. Friday reported there was a cow in the intersection of Pierce Point Road and Sir Francis Drake Boulevard.
POINT REYES STATION Deputies at 12:40 p.m. last Thursday received a report of a blue Mustang car in a ditch at Highway 1 and the Point Reyes-Petaluma Road.
SAN GERONIMO A man at 2:13 p.m. last Thursday told deputies he had kicked his roommate out three weeks ago; however, the roommate had returned to the residence, and the man had confronted him. The man said his ex-roommate yelled at him and "poured bleach all over his plants," a deputy reported. The ex-roommate also went through the mans "stuff" and made threats, the man said.
SAN GERONIMO A woman at 3:56 p.m. last Thursday told deputies her daughter had received threatening phone calls from four girls who said they are going to kill her. The mother, who named the four, said her daughter had been beaten up in San Francisco the previous weekend. She said the conflict has been a problem for three weeks.
OLEMA A Park Service ranger at 6:53 p.m. last Thursday reported that a man in his 30s or 40s had walked up to her house and told her he was out of gas and money.
BOLINAS A deputy on the Little Mesa at 10:21 p.m. last Wednesday arrested a 33-year-old man on a warrant from an assault case.
DILLON BEACH The commander of the West Marin Sheriffs Substation at 4:43 p.m. Oct. 9 reported cows loose on Valley Ford-Franklin School Road. The cows were returned to their pasture, and its fence was mended.
BOLINAS A resident at 3:17 p.m. Oct. 8 reported that a 40-year-old homeless woman had come into the residents place of work and threatened to "slit your throat."
POINT REYES STATION Sheriffs Lt. Rich Ginnodo, commander of the West Marin Substation, has asked The Light to let readers know that a campaign to remove abandoned cars is underway in West Marin. Lt. Ginnodo said the Sheriffs Office will arrange to have abandoned vehicles towed off private property, as well as public property, if the landowner signs a release. DILLON BEACH Deputies and medics responded at 10:43 a.m. Sunday when a three-year-old boy suffered second-degree burns to his feet when he walked through a firepit containing hot ashes from a previous fire.
BOLINAS A deputy on the Olema-Bolinas Road at 9:19 a.m. last Wednesday arrested a man on a warrant from an assault case.
FOREST KNOLLS A customer at a business on Montezuma Avenue at 8:10 p.m. complained that two drunken males in front of the business were harassing people. The call was handled by the nearest available deputy, who at the time happened to be 25 miles away (as the crow flies) at San Quentin.
WOODACRE A resident at 8:48 p.m. Monday complained about a loud jackhammer in the vicinity of Carson Road and Redwood Drive. All was quiet when a deputy arrived.
INVERNESS PARK A Sir Francis Drake Boulevard resident at 11:01 a.m. Monday complained that a neighbor across the street idles a truck in his driveway in the early hours of the morning. He also works on several cars in his garage and driveway, the resident said. A deputy gave him advice.
FOREST KNOLLS A caller at 11:58 a.m. Monday told deputies that a man was sitting on a log drinking beer. A deputy determined the man was not drunk and advised him to walk home.
STINSON BEACH An Alameda Patio resident at 1:46 p.m. Monday told the Highway Patrol that she had seen a strange man going in and out of a nearby home.
SAMUEL TAYLOR PARK A man at 2:59 p.m. Monday notified deputies he had found two bones in a creek. Officers took a report.
INVERNESS Deputies at 3:14 p.m. Monday learned that an 80-year-old Redwood Avenue resident had fallen and not been able to get up until found an hour later. The victim was described as alert but suffering pain in an arm.
INVERNESS PARK A resident at 8:23 p.m. Sunday complained about a loud party, which, he said, might be on Inverness Way.
POINT REYES STATION A resident at 10:53 p.m. Sunday complained that a group of people on Lorraine Avenue were "rolling things downhill." She described the people as "loud and rowdy." A deputy later reported, "Another wedding reception abated prior to [the officers] arrival."
BOLINAS A Terrace Avenue resident at 12:21 a.m. Monday reported hearing someone "yelling and screaming" at her neighbors dogs and then hearing a "possible gunshot." She told a deputy she was afraid to take a look outside.
POINT REYES STATION A motorist at 1:49 a.m. Sunday drove off Highway 1 near West Marin School. A woman in the neighborhood notified deputies, "He is yelling and cussing and attempting to start his vehicle." The woman said that "from the swearing she is hearings" she believed the motorist "may be intoxicated ," an officer noted.
LAGUNITAS A woman at 7:07 p.m. Saturday reported hearing a quarrel between two "very angry" people but could not determine if the voices were male or female.
NICASIO A Los Piños resident at 7:37 p.m. Saturday returned to his house to find it covered with a fumigation tent and caution signs posted warning about toxic chemicals. The resident said the company was "attempting to track down what happened." He said the company manager promised to remove the tent the next day, which was okay with him.
STINSON BEACH Deputies learned at 7:39 p.m. Saturday that a 48-year-old Seadrift Road resident had been walking her dog two hours earlier when she tripped and fell, hitting her head. She was now nauseous, having difficulty breathing and was suffering abdominal pain, she said. A rescue helicopter was dispatched.
MARSHALL A woman at 8 p.m. Saturday reported a pickup truck had broken down along the Marshall-Petaluma Road. A deputy couldnt find it.
TOMALES Firefighters responded at 8:19 p.m. Saturday when a vehicle ran into a power pole, causing a guy wire to fall across the pavement at Dillon Beach and Middle roads, leaving one lane open. Highway Patrol officers were summoned when witnesses said the motorist might be drunk.
BOLINAS A Little Mesa resident at 8:32 p.m. Saturday complained about a loud party. A deputy later reported the host had "agreed to turn it down."
SAN GERONIMO A deputy on Lagunitas School Road at 9:03 p.m. Friday dispersed a party of "cooperative" juveniles.
BOLINAS A Wharf Road resident at 9:50 p.m. Saturday reported hearing an "explosion" downtown. The resident said there was "no fighting" although there was "bawling and the shot," a deputy reported. The resident subsequently reported hearing three shots. A deputy determined the noise was coming from people outside a bar.
NICASIO An Old Nicasio Road resident at 11:45 p.m. Saturday reported hearing two gunshots a few hundred yards from his house near the gravel quarry. He said he could see headlights and believed people were illegally hunting. The man later called back to say he had heard three more shots, which came from a creek near the quarry. He said the shots sounded as if they came from an automatic rifle. The resident asked that a deputy check the area a second time.
POINT REYES STATION Deputies at 12:06 a.m. Sunday received a complaint about a loud band at Highway 1 and McDonald Lane. A deputy checked and reported that the "band was playing its last song, [was] wrapping it up, [and was] very cooperative."
SAN GERONIMO A woman at 12:19 a.m. Sunday reported that youths were drag racing on Meadow Way and that her husband had gone to check on them.
A deputy could not find anyone drag racing.
TOMALES A man at 3:25 p.m. Sunday reported that a green Chevrolet pickup truck had backed over his motorcycle at a stop sign. No one was injured, but the accident left oil on the roadway, requiring a cleanup.
BOLINAS A woman on the Little Mesa at 3:32 p.m. Sunday asked for advice regarding an "indecent incident" with a homeless man the previous day.
BOLINAS Two men on Wharf Road at 10:54 a.m. Friday told deputies they had been assaulted with a deadly weapon the night before. The two, who are Sonoma residents aged 19 and 31, had been camping on the beach and walked into town with four friends, they said. Along the way, they encountered a group of strangers and had a conversation that resulted in one of the strangers struggling with one of the Sonoma men. One of the suspects pulled a knife on the Sonoma men, but then everyone calmed down, and the suspects invited the Sonoma men to accompany them to a bachelors party on the Big Mesa. Heres what the pair told deputies happened next. During the party, one of the Sonoma men was told that his companion was being bothered by some of the suspects. When he intervened, both of them were pushed out of the party. While both of them were walking on Elm Road back toward downtown, four of the suspects drove up and assaulted them. The two were ordered into the suspects car, were driven to Highway 1, and then a short distance up the Bolinas-Fairfax Road. During this time, one of the suspects brandished a small, silver handgun. Less than a mile up the road, the car stopped and the two Sonoma men were pulled out, kicked and punched, and one of them was robbed at knifepoint of $10. The suspects also sprayed the victims bodies and hair with blue paint, deputies said. After the suspects drove off, the Sonoma men began walking back to Bolinas when they caught a ride into town and spent the night on the beach. In the morning, they called deputies. The pair described the suspects car as a white or light-colored "smaller hatchback or stationwagon." Deputies said one victim suffered bruised or broken ribs, appeared to have a broken nose, and had injuries to his legs. The other Sonoma man also required medical care for a variety of injuries. The case was under investigation this week.
FOUR CORNERS A man employed in Nicasio at 7:55 p.m. Friday notified deputies he had hit a deer, which was still alive and flailing around. A deputy could not find it.
WOODACRE A woman at 11:21 a.m. Friday notified deputies that a 50-year-old woman was standing in the middle of the street at Carson Road and Castle Rock Avenue "looking furious." The caller said she was "worried she may be having psychological problems."
BOLINAS A man at 12:37 a.m. Saturday reported hearing shouts and fighting.
BOLINAS Deputies at 2:33 a.m. Saturday received an anonymous complaint about a "rowdy party" at Elm and Grove roads. When a deputy arrived, the party was breaking up, and the problem was abated.
FOREST KNOLLS A Castro Street resident at 8:54 a.m. Friday reported a vandal had used a statue, which had been on his front steps, to bash in his front door. The resident said he believed he knew who did it. The second man said he didnt.
TOMALES Deputies and medics responded at 9:49 a.m. Friday when a 44-year-old Dillon Beach Road resident with a liver problem suffered possible gastrointestinal bleeding. There was blood on the mans sheets and on the floor, a deputy said, and the man was disoriented. The officer blamed the incident on the mans failing to take medication for his liver problem.
INVERNESS Deputies at 2:47 p.m. Friday received a report that a nighttime vandal had scratched a car parked on Cameron Street.
NATIONAL SEASHORE Deputies and rangers responded at 8:24 p.m. last Thursday when they received a report of three adults in a boat without lights harassing 30 fifth graders.
POINT REYES STATION A 60-year-old woman was transported to a hospital after she reported at 11:27 a.m. last Thursday that she was having chest pains.
SAN GERONIMO Deputies at 1:11 a.m. Friday received a report of people with an old pickup truck stealing recycling dropoffs from the recycling bins at the school.
POINT REYES STATION A Mesa Road resident at 2:13 p.m. last Thursday notified deputies that he is dissolving a relationship with a female and that both of them have been in small- claims court over a dispute. The man said that in a phone call, she had threatened him and the judge. A deputy determined no threats had been made but gave the man advice.
POINT REYES STATION A deputy at 10:55 p.m. last Thursday reported a drunk "subject just staggered back [into the] saloon. The drunk man was escorted home by a friend, the officer added.

PT. REYES-PETALUMA ROAD A deputy at 3:11 a.m. last Thursday shot a raccoon, which had been injured in traffic, to put it out of its misery.
CHILENO VALLEY Deputies at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday received first- and second-hand reports of low-flying helicopters in Chileno Valley. In addition, the commander of the West Marin Sheriffs substation saw two helicopters in neighboring Hicks Valley about the same time. A Chileno Valley rancher estimated one of the helicopters was only 50 feet off the ground when it flew past her house. Another witness described a helicopter as black with a blue stripe. Deputies to no avail attempted to determine whether a law-enforcement agency or public utility checking lines was operating the helicopters.
TOMALES A Tomales-Petaluma Road rancher at 10:28 a.m. Sept. 23 asked to have a tenant removed from her ranch. She said the woman is not paying rent. At 11:21 p.m. Sunday, the rancher called deputies again to say a man and woman were smoking marijuana on her property. She said she had asked the man to leave, but he didnt.
PT. REYES-PETALUMA ROAD A motorist at 10:44 p.m. last Thursday reported a vandal had smashed a window of her vehicle.
POINT REYES STATION A deputy on Highway 1 at 10:22 p.m. Friday arrested a man on charges of public drunkenness.
POINT REYES STATION A deputy at 7:40 p.m. Saturday stopped a motorist driving an Audi on the Point Reyes-Petaluma Road and arrested him on charges of drunk driving.
WOODACRE Deputies received word at 12:34 p.m. Sunday that a 66-year-old woman had fallen in her backyard and landed on her back, possibly breaking her arm and shoulder, as well as injuring a foot.
NICASIO Firefighters at 1:40 p.m. Sunday reported a tree had fallen across Lucas Valley Road.
OLEMA A woman at 2:21 p.m. Sunday reported a man and woman were having an angry confrontation on Highway 1. The caller described the man as about 25 years old with a shaved head and no shirt. The woman was described as about 25. The caller said the man apparently struck the woman in the face. She was last seen walking toward Point Reyes Station.
NATIONAL SEASHORE After being summoned by a Park Service ranger, a Highway Patrol officer at 3:21 p.m. Sunday arrested a motorist on federal drunk-driving charges.
BOLINAS A man at 1:26 a.m. Saturday complained that a woman, who had filed for a protective order against him, kept calling him. He asked how to get a protective order against her. At 3:39 p.m. Sunday, the woman complained that her ex-boyfriend, whom a court had ordered to leave her alone, keeps talking to her. She said her ex-boyfriend had not yet been served with the court papers.
NICASIO Paramedics at 5:38 p.m. Sunday went to the aid of a 57-year-old man on Lucas Valley Road after a trailer hitch came down on his index finger. Before the finger was bandaged, "the tip was hanging off," reported a deputy, who provided traffic control.
BOLINAS An Elm Road resident at 2:24 p.m. last Wednesday notified deputies that a neighbor was swearing at her. She said she was staying indoors with the door locked. The resident told deputies she had just asked a court to issue a restraining order against the man. At 3:02 p.m. she called deputies back to say the neighbor was now outside her house swearing and yelling at her, calling her "a wacko." The resident said she and her boyfriend were locked in her house.
LAGUNITAS Deputies and medics responded at 6:03 p.m. Sunday when a 47-year-old resident of Sir Francis Drake Boulevard reported that she had just returned from a hike and was suddenly nauseated, somewhat disoriented, and suffering a headache while her body temperature kept varying between extremes.
WOODACRE A Railroad Avenue resident at 6:22 p.m. Sept. 22 reported a vandal had smashed the drivers side window of her car, ripped up the interior, but took nothing. She said she suspects the vandalism was done by a neighbor with whom shes been having problems for several months over parking.
DILLON BEACH An Ocean View Avenue resident at 6:57 p.m. Sunday reported a burglar had stolen a strongbox from a bedroom closet. He said the strongbox contained deeds to the house and titles to vehicles.
WOODACRE A 25-year-old man at 7:41 p.m. Saturday notified deputies he feels threatened by his wife who, he felt, was trying to take his son from him. The man asked his mother-in-law nextdoor to call deputies regarding a domestic disturbance between her daughter and him. The wife later complained to deputies that her husband was going through her belongings; her mother agreed. The wife said deputies had told her to call back if things didnt calm down. Now her husband wouldnt let her have her purse, she said, adding that he had shoved her.
WOODACRE A Railroad Avenue resident at 9:14 p.m. Sept. 24 reported his ex-girlfriend had driven past his house twice, yelling obscenities at the residence.
BOLINAS A tenant at 3:24 a.m. last Wednesday complained that his landlord had locked him out of his home. He said that when he confronted his landlord, the man took a baseball bat and hit the door to the residence. The man said his landlord was now back in his own home. The tenant said he nonetheless was concerned because his wife was still in the residence. The tenant described his landlord as "going crazy, yelling and screaming," a deputy reported.
STINSON BEACH A man on Belvedere Avenue at 11:27 p.m. Saturday complained about loud music and a "lot of people hollering." A deputy reported the party was over and the host was "wrapping it up."
TOMALES Medics, the Highway Patrol, and a sheriffs deputy responded at 12:56 p.m. Saturday when a bicyclist suffered a deep cut to an arm when the bicycle spilled.
WOODACRE A San Geronimo Valley Drive resident at 2:32 p.m. Saturday said extra sheriffs patrols are needed in the area because of a 17-year-old boys speeding in a silver-colored sedan.
MARSHALL The Highway Patrol at 2:42 p.m. Saturday reported a woman on Highway 1 was having an allergic reaction to a bee sting. She had a rash on her face and sudden anxiety, a CHP officer said.
BOLINAS The Humane Society at 6:07 p.m. Saturday asked that a deputy check a Juniper Road home. The Humane Society said it had received reports of what sounded like a cat or bird in distress for several hours. The Humane Society said it would rather have deputies handle the matter because it has had problems with the Juniper Road household for many years. One person in the household "has made threats to kill any Humane society officer," deputies were told.
DILLON BEACH A pickup truck and a motorcycle collided on Cypress Avenue at 6:58 p.m. Saturday.
DILLON BEACH A woman at 10:15 p.m. Friday reported a vehicle had run off Dillon Beach Road and into a canyon. Halfway down the hillside, the vehicle stopped against a tree, the woman said. Deputies referred the matter to the Highway Patrol.
STINSON BEACH A Calle del Pradero resident at 11:57 p.m. Friday reported hearing four "explosions" on the beach north of her home. A deputy could not find anyone or any fireworks on the beach.
BOLINAS A Wharf Road merchant at 8:38 a.m. Friday reported that an ex-employee was threatening and bothering other employees. He said he wanted to get a court to issue a restraining order against the man. A deputy determined no illegal threat had been made.
SAN GERONIMO The school district at 1:28 p.m. Friday asked firefighters to remove the doors from two refrigerators that had been illegally dumped at the recycling bins beside the school. The concern is that a small child can get locked in a refrigerator and suffocate. The doors were immediately removed although there was a brief discussion as to whether making West Marins illegally dumped refrigerators safe falls under the purview of the county Fire Department or Department of Public Works.
MUIR BEACH A 39-year-old Highway 1 resident, who had his appendix removed a month ago, told deputies Friday afternoon that he was suffering abdominal pains and cramps. He said his hands were numb.
DILLON BEACH A motorist stopped by the Tomales firehouse at 6:33 p.m. Friday to say that a man with no shirt was waving numchuks at vehicles on Dillon Beach Road. He said the man with the illegal weapons was on foot by the side of the road. The man was gone when a deputy arrived.
PT. REYES-PETALUMA ROAD A Honda was hauled off for storage at 10:44 p.m. last Thursday after it was abandoned on private property.
BOLINAS A woman at 10:57 p.m. last Thursday asked for extra patrols in her neighborhood after getting a couple of collect calls during the night from a man who in recent weeks has become notorious for causing disturbances from Olema to Bolinas. She said she fears the man may be lurking about.
FOREST KNOLLS A Juarez Avenue resident at 11:53 p.m. last Thursday reported hearing a quarrel from the home of a man and woman, both 45, who kept walking out on their deck.
TOMALES A motorist at 12:48 a.m. Friday notified deputies he had hit a parked car after drifting off to sleep while driving. Deputies referred the mishap to the Highway Patrol.
LAGUNITAS A member of the county Environmental Health staff at 12:55 p.m. last Thursday asked for a deputy to stand by while he investigated two complaints of excessive garbage and the dumping of sewage at a womans Sir Francis Drake Boulevard home.
SAN GERONIMO Firefighters at 3:25 p.m. last Thursday reported "two hippie buses" were "driving tied together by a chain" at Nicasio Valley Road and Sir Francis Drake Boulevard. Firefighters said they could see a group of children running loose in the bus being towed. The second bus should be disconnected, firefighters said.
BOLINAS A Brighton Avenue resident at 3:44 p.m. last Thursday reported a homeless man had just threatened her. "If she complains one more time, its gonna happen," a deputy quoted her as saying. The woman said the man in his 40s or 50s was now in front of her house laughing at her husband. She then said he had driven off in a tan-colored GMC pickup truck with a camper shell.
LAGUNITAS A boy at 4:06 p.m. last Thursday told deputies that while he was in a store, he saw a thief steal his bicycle . The thief had ridden to a home on West Cintura Avenue, the boy said.
DOGTOWN A man at 6:12 p.m. last Thursday reported black and white cows were wandering on Highway 1 and that a pastures fence was down. The Highway Patrol responded.
DILLON BEACH A woman at 9:07 p.m. last Wednesday reported a black cow was "walking in a zig-zag" on Dillon Beach-Franklin School Road. The Highway Patrol responded.
LAGUNITAS A resident at 1:11 p.m. last Wednesday notified deputies that someone was living outdoors on her property. The trespasser had a fire-pit for cooking and a couch, she said. A deputy reported the woman "thinks it is very weird," adding the trespasser "gets very agitated when confronted." The woman said she was concerned for her neighborhood.
FOREST KNOLLS A Montezuma Avenue resident at 11:26 a.m. Sept. 24 asked how to get a court to issue a restraining order against an unwanted family member. She said the relative is currently in custody in Lake County.
POINT REYES STATION A deputy at 12:04 p.m. Sept. 24 reported finding possibly stolen property in the trunk of a car on Mesa Road. The case was referred to the Highway Patrol.
FOREST KNOLLS A man at 1:50 p.m. Sept. 24 reported three dogs were trying to run down a deer at Resaca and Sinaloa avenues. A deputy was unable to find either the deer or the dogs.
BOLINAS A woman on the Little Mesa at 2:38 p.m. Sept. 24 reported five 16-year-old skateboarders were setting off fireworks.
DILLON BEACH A 45-year-old Beach Avenue resident 6:03 p.m. Sunday had an allergic reaction to a bee sting on her neck. The reaction caused her difficulty in breathing, a tingling in her hands, and trouble swallowing, a deputy reported.
BOLINAS Deputies and medics responded when a two-year-old girl experienced "acute distress breathing" as the result of an asthma attack, a deputy reported. The toddler was taken by ambulance to Marin General Hospital.
STINSON BEACH A man at 5:39 p.m. Sept. 24 notified deputies that he has two dogs, one of which pooped on a neighbors property. While he was picking up the poop with toilet paper, the neighbor came out screaming at him and punched him in the chest, causing a bruise, the man said.
POINT REYES STATION Medics and deputies were summoned to A Street at 6:44 p.m. Sept. 24 when a 90-year-old resident suffered chest pains. An ambulance transported her to Marin General Hospital.
POINT REYES STATION A deputy on Highway 1 at 10:22 p.m. Friday arrested a man on charges of public drunkenness.
WOODACRE Deputies at 8:40 p.m. Sunday received a report that a vandal had smashed the door of a car parked at Central and Park avenues.
FOREST KNOLLS A deputy on Juarez Avenue at 11:45 p.m. last Thursday arrested a person on a Santa Clara County warrant.
NICASIO A man on Los Piños at 10:13 a.m. Tuesday reported a second man, 57, kept falling down although he was not dizzy. The first man wondered if the second man was sane. The second man was transported to a hospital.
FOREST KNOLLS A merchant at 12:51 p.m. Tuesday reported a vandal had shot eight paint balls against the outside walls during the night.
LAGUNITAS A Mountain View Avenue resident at 9:42 p.m. Tuesday reported someone had broken into her house, ransacked it, and left the door open.
POINT REYES STATION Sheriffs Lt. Rich Ginnodo, commander of the West Marin Substation, has asked The Light to let readers know that a campaign to remove abandoned cars is underway in West Marin. Lt. Ginnodo said the Sheriffs Office will arrange to have abandoned vehicles towed off private property, as well as public property, if the landowner signs a release.
