BOLINAS - Deputies arrested a 24-year-old man on Alder Road for a parole violation.

INVERNESS - A man living on Balmoral Way notified deputies a motorist had hit his fence and driven off. The man later called back to say the suspect, a 45-year-old woman, had been spotted on Inverness Way. She was arrested by the Highway Patrol.

INVERNESS - A woman took miscellaneous pills in an attempt to commit suicide.

POINT REYES STATION - A Cypress Road resident lost his wallet containing $800 downtown.

BOLINAS - A vandal damaged a school bus over the weekend with a marking pen.

SAN GERONIMO - A woman complained that a truckload of debris, including plastic bags and yard waste, had been dumped on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard.

POINT REYES STATION - A woman on Sixth Street complained of loud music from ranch machinery in the middle of the night and early in the morning. A deputy contacted the rancher, who said he would look into it.

POINT REYES STATION - A resident reported a bicycle had been abandoned on Cypress Road. A deputy took it to the sheriff's substation for safekeeping.

INVERNESS PARK - Deputies reported a man and wife got into a quarrel with "some hair-pulling by the wife." The husband and their children left the home before deputies arrived.

MARSHALL - A citizen had an allergic reaction to a bee sting and drove to the Point Reyes Station firehouse for treatment.

SAN GERONIMO - A man reported that a second man had been assaulted by a third man during a party in a home on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard.

LAGUNITAS - A woman on Barranca Road told deputies she heard voices outside and someone walking behind her house at 2:15 a.m.

PLATFORM BRIDGE ROAD - A ranger reported several eggs were thrown at his truck and that he saw several juveniles with marijuana in plain sight. A deputy found the juveniles but saw no drugs. Their party, however, was moved inside.

POINT REYES STATION - A bartender at 2:45 a.m. reported a drunk in his 20s was outside refusing to leave. For her own safety, she got a friend to drive her home.

TOMALES - A minor was found with a small amount of marijuana at the high school. Deputies took a report.

LAGUNITAS - A woman reported her 15-year-old daughter might be truant from school.

INVERNESS - A man reported someone yelling, "Help," following a collision on Vision Road. The victim, who had been drinking, was taken by helicopter to a hospital.

OLEMA - Deputies received a report of a "large cow" blocking the road at Highway 1 and Bear Valley Road. Officers later reported the cow was back in its pasture.

HICKS VALLEY - A firefighter notified deputies that a deer had been struck by a vehicle but not killed. Officers referred the matter to the Humane Society.

BOLINAS - A Fern Road resident complained that a recreational vehicle was parked in front of her residence. She said a community ditch was to be dug there, and the RV's driver was refusing to move. A deputy gave her civil-law advice.

POINT REYES STATION - A woman notified deputies that her estranged husband had vandalized her clothes by pouring bleach on them while they were hanging in a closet.

WHITE HOUSE POOL - A homeless man, 41, was cited on charges of camping.

MARSHALL - A deputy found an abandoned van along Highway 1. After checking on the van, the officer learned that city police in Alameda had reported it stolen.

BOLINAS - A thief stole a man's 21-speed bicycle from the tennis courts.

POINT REYES STATION - A resident saw a man in the vicinity of Viento Way run across Highway 1 with what appeared to be a handgun in his right hand. The man drove off up Highway 1.

BOLINAS - A woman said her male roommate assaulted her, injuring her face, arms, and legs. Deputies referred the case to the district attorney.

STINSON BEACH - A burglar entered a home on Rafael Patio, stole food, and smeared feces on the wall.

RED HILL - A man threatened a ranch worker during a dispute over the sale of a car. The ranch worker said the man had previously shown up with a gun. A deputy found the man and discovered he was carrying a small amount of alleged marijuana. The man was arrested on charges of possession of pot.

BOLINAS - A woman reported that her former stepson, 29, of Sausalito had broken into her home on Cliff Road and stolen $2,120 worth of property, including a guitar and jewelry.

BOLINAS - Deputies received a complaint of juveniles causing a disturbance at 1:30 a.m. Officers could not find them.

POINT REYES STATION - A man received medical care from county firefighters for an injured hand and was then arrested on charges of public drunkenness.

BOLINAS - A homeless woman reported being "attacked" by kids with squirt guns. She fled to the postoffice. Deputies could not find the kids.

POINT REYES STATION - A resident reported that a man had sat in his car all day, then had turned his radio up full blast and driven into a tree. The man left on foot but was found on Bear Valley Road.

BOLINAS - A deputy cited a juvenile on Wharf Road on charges of possessing alcohol.

BOLINAS - A homeless woman called deputies to say someone had spit in her face but that she didn't want to wait around for a deputy to arrive and take a report.

INVERNESS - A merchant complained of receiving a bad check. A deputy gave him a reporting form.

MARSHALL - A woman reported that a motorist was slumped over his steering wheel along Highway 1 at 9:45 p.m. A citizen told deputies that the man has a history of alcohol problems.

TOMALES - A vandal blew up a man's mailbox with mail inside along the Fallon-Two Rock Road. A cartridge used in agricultural was found nearby.

INVERNESS PARK - A woman reported that someone may be camping illegally near the bus stop at the foot of Balboa Avenue.

NICASIO - A tenant, who had been evicted, threatened to blow the landlord's head off and burn her house down. The landlord said the tenant may be angry about property which hadn't been returned.

FOREST KNOLLS - A girl reported seeing someone climb through the window of a neighbor's house and leave within five minutes.

FOREST KNOLLS - A woman asked for assistance in dealing with a former tenant.

BOLINAS - A merchant on Brighton Avenue reported a homeless woman was harassing customers. A deputy sent her on her way.

TOMALES - A resident reported a man was camping on the front porch of the old high school. Deputies could not find the man.

HICKS VALLEY - Petaluma Police told West Marin deputies two small children may be victims of physical abuse. An investigation is pending.

BOLINAS - Someone abandoned a vehicle on the pavement at Elm Road and Overlook Drive. A deputy arranged for a garage to tow it away.

POINT REYES STATION - A nighttime vandal smeared human feces on mailboxes and counters in the postoffice. Deputies have a suspect in the case.

MARSHALL - A deputy questioned a motorist parked in a Porsche sportscar beside Highway 1. The officer found in the car a small amount of crack cocaine and a pipe for smoking it. The man was arrested on charges of possessing crack and its paraphernalia.

TOMALES - Deputies responded to a domestic quarrel with no physical abuse on the Tomales-Petaluma Road.

BOLINAS - Deputies on Wharf Road arrested a homeless man wanted on a court warrant.

BOLINAS - Two deputies on foot patrol saw a man run onto a patrol car, crushing its windshield, and then keep running over its top and trunk as well as a second patrolcar parked behind. Officers chased the runner and caught him within a block. He was arrested on charges of vandalizing the patrolcar's windshield and of resisting arrest.

FIVE BROOKS - A deputy stopped a driver for a traffic violation, discovered he was wanted on a warrant, and arrested him.

SAN GERONIMO - The Highway Patrol reported that on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard, an older car with three skinheads was tailgating traffic, passing dangerously, and pulling out in front of vehicles and then slamming on its brakes.

WOODACRE - A woman told officers her husband had punched her in the face. She said it was his first incidence of physical abuse and occurred after he had been drinking.

NICASIO - During a burglary, a trailer was stolen on Camino Margarita.

BOLINAS - A woman complained about a "tent city" and campfire at 9 p.m. on Brighton Beach. A deputy told a group to put out its fires, and they said they would leave the beach.

FOREST KNOLLS - A landlord told deputies she had served a tenant with a notice to vacate, but the woman was refusing to leave.

BOLINAS - A woman complained that horses being kept near the tennis courts were "were pooping in the road and park." A male resident also complained about a horse trailer and horses at the courts.

BOLINAS - A woman notified officers of a gathering on Wharf Road with loud music. Deputies contacted a group of juveniles, who left.

LAGUNITAS - A woman asked advice in dealing with an "incorrigible daughter" who earlier ran away.

STINSON BEACH - Five Oakland residents built a bonfire on the beach at Alameda Patio. A deputy told them to put out the fire.

LAGUNITAS - A woman complained that a man, 30, dressed in black and carrying a black backpack was trespassing on her property and had been staring at her and her husband for 30 minutes. They had yelled at him to leave, but he just kept standing there. A deputy talked to both parties.

SAN GERONIMO - Deputies received a complaint of a man in the post office ranting and raving. The man had a dog with him.

SAN GERONIMO - A motorist complained that a man with a dog jumped out in front of his vehicle. A deputy contacted the man who said he had been trying to get his dog off the roadway. He needed a ride home, so a deputy transported him.

MARSHALL - A rancher complained of vandalism to his parking-fee sign.

POINT REYES STATION - Coast Guard members disbanded the camp of a man living behind their housing complex.

LAGUNITAS - A woman asked for extra patrols around her house after someone strewed her garbage around her yard and took a remnant of carpet. The vandalism followed an incident in which a trespasser entered her house and left appliances.

October 10, 1996 Sheriff's Calls


BOLINAS - A man was observed entering the backdoor of a business, where he stole food. The merchant said the man had recently been evicted from the building.

INVERNESS - A woman claimed a second woman, 34, had shoved her several times in a dispute over computer disks. The first woman performed a citizen's arrest on the second woman.

FOREST KNOLLS - A woman reported that a man with a gun was outside a business. The man was gone when deputies arrived.

MARSHALL - A woman told deputies a truck and horse trailer had been stolen on Clark Road. Both were returned the next day. The trailer had been damaged, and the truck, which had its keys in it, received minor damage. Deputies have no suspects.

WOODACRE - A woman on Railroad Avenue called deputies at 4 a.m. to say her ex-boyfriend was outside banging on the windows. She said she had asked him to leave.

WOODACRE - A burglar stole a cellular phone from a man's unlocked vehicle parked on Oak Grove Avenue.

SAN GERONIMO - A woman reported a man appeared to be stalking her. She said she had seen him three times that day.

BOLINAS - A vandal broke the sideview mirror off a schoolbus.

POINT REYES STATION - A Marshall woman reported a driver, who appeared to be drunk since he was weaving and on the wrong side of the road, had run into a ditch. The woman added that the accident nearly caused her car to collide with his. The man was taken downtown by a passerby.

TOMALES - A woman called the Martinez Police Department to report that her roommate's mother is being abused.

SAN GERONIMO - A Junipero Avenue man at 9 p.m. called deputies to say that his tenant had seen a stranger on their land muttering obscenities. The landlord said he himself had seen two strangers on the unfenced land. One man was talking about "seeing the light," the landlord said, but it was too dark for him to describe the man.

STINSON BEACH - A citizen on Calle de Piños at midnight complained of bongo drums beating all night. Deputies abated an adult party.

STINSON BEACH - Deputies at 9 p.m. received a complaint of people yelling around a large bonfire at the beach end of North Calle del Sierra. The fire was extinguished, and officers told the group to hold the noise down.

WOODACRE - A woman said her 17-year-old son had driven off in a vehicle after drinking. She said she wants the vehicle taken away from him. Deputies gave her advice.

FOREST KNOLLS - A woman on Sanchez Road complained that another woman was trespassing on her property.

DILLON BEACH - A man, who pastures cattle on 500 acres along Dillon Beach Road, said 16 of his 20 cattle were missing and may have been rustled.

OLEMA - A car ran into a ditch along Highway 1. Deputies referred the mishap to the Highway Patrol.

MARSHALL - County firefighters mopped up four small fires after a controlled burn at the Marconi Conference Center.

INVERNESS PARK - A man complained that his 15-year-old, unlicensed daughter had driven off in a vehicle. He asked for assistance, and deputies gave him advice.

BOLINAS - A vehicle with its parking lights flashing drove back and forth on Wharf Road blaring music.

OLEMA - A woman picked up two girls, about 16 and 17, in Olema and gave them a ride to Inverness Park. While in the woman's truck, the girls stole a wallet from the woman's fanny pack.

WOODACRE - A woman asked for help in transporting her elderly, abusive mother to a hospital. The mother has Alzheimer's disease, and the woman said she was afraid to drive lest her mother jump from the car. The mother was transported by ambulance.

MARSHALL - Deputies at 10:45 p.m. received a complaint of loud noise and spotlights along Highway 1. A deputy contacted fishermen, who agreed to turn their radio off.

NICASIO - A motorist ran into a buck on the Point Reyes-Petaluma Road. He said he was not sure if the deer died, but when deputies checked, the buck was gone.

NICASIO - A man complained that someone was stealing water from a private water system.

LAGUNITAS - A resident reported hearing numerous gunshots in Devil's Gulch about 5 a.m.

DOGTOWN - A boy was cited on charges of running away from a boarding school.

BOLINAS - Following a two-vehicle crash with injuries at the Bolinas Wye, one driver was arrested on charges of driving while under the influence of an intoxicating substance and of resisting arrest. Deputies noted the driver had to be transported to jail in leg restraints.

POINT REYES STATION - A woman briefly visited her ex-boyfriend's home on the Point Reyes-Petaluma Road, and when leaving pushed his pickup truck with hers into a tree. Deputies filed a report with the district attorney.

POINT REYES STATION - A merchant reported a thief had stolen two shirts and five pairs of earrings.

INVERNESS - A woman on Inverness Way told deputies someone had shut off the valve to her propane tank. She said she saw a vehicle leave her home and suspects the culprit is someone she is trying to get a temporary restraining order against.

POINT REYES STATION - A man lost his wallet containing $110.

BOLINAS - A thief stole a $2,000 woodsplitter from the yard of a Bolinas farmer.

BOLINAS - A man complained that after a horse damaged his fence, the woman who owned it refused to pay for repairs. Deputies separated the two and told them of "small claims court possibilities."

NICASIO - Someone took two locks worth $150 off a man's well.

BOLINAS - Deputies received a report of a homeless man, 25, disoriented in front of the firehouse. The man said he heard music and voices in his ears. The man was taken to the county crisis unit.

INVERNESS - A woman was arrested for public drunkenness after causing a disturbance at a restaurant. She was later released without charges being filed.

PT. REYES-PETALUMA ROAD - Deputies found three marijuana plants growing and seized them.

MARSHALL - Deputies found 25 marijuana plants growing on the Walker Creek Ranch and seized them.

POINT REYES STATION - A Petaluma woman reported $2,800 of equipment had been stolen from a town pasture.

INVERNESS - A San Francisco woman reported a thief stole two windchimes worth $125 from her summer home in Inverness.

LAGUNITAS - A deputy stood by while a man removed his truck from the home of his wife, who has a temporary restraining order against him.

FOREST KNOLLS - A Rosario Road man reported that a vandal had smashed his garage door with an unknown object.

FOREST KNOLLS - A car was stolen at Juarez Avenue and Montezuma Road. Deputies suspect the culprit is a 6-foot, 1-inch white male.

DOGTOWN - A man told deputies that when he asked loud neighbors to quiet down, they were rude. A deputy abated the problem when he arrived on the scene.

LAGUNITAS - A woman complained of people beating drums and yelling Indian chants about 5 a.m. at Lagunitas Road and Sir Francis Drake Boulevard. Deputies could not find them.

PLATFORM BRIDGE - A vehicle hit a deer but did not kill it. A deputy could not find the animal.

POINT REYES STATION - A vehicle hit a deer at Highway 1 and Sir Francis Drake Boulevard but did not kill it. The animal was gone when a deputy arrived.

STINSON BEACH - A Highway 1 resident at 10:30 p.m. complained of a wedding reception with music that had been playing loudly all evening. When deputies contacted the celebrants, they were told the band was leaving.

STINSON BEACH - A motorist en route to work in town accidentally cut off a second driver. The motorist reported the second driver later called him at work and threatened him.

INVERNESS - A man on Aberdeen Way at 11:30 p.m. complained of a very loud party. A deputy contacted the host, who agreed to quiet the party down.

STINSON BEACH - Firefighters put out two bonfires on the beach at the end of Calle del Occidente.

BOLINAS - A merchant reported that for the second time in two weeks a vandal had thrown a rock threw her business' window.

WOODACRE - A man found a box of cut gemstones in Mill Valley. After talking with his boss, he called deputies to turn them in.

WOODACRE - An attorney reported receiving threatening phone calls and asked for extra patrols around her house.

FOREST KNOLLS - A man reported that a second man was acting strangely and saying he was "with the Headwaters Forest." The first man was suspicious since there have been several burglaries in the area recently. Deputies could not find the second man.

NICASIO - A number of upset motorists complained to sheriff's deputies about a late-night footrace along Nicasio Valley Road. Several people said they almost hit runners, who were poorly illuminated. The long-distance relay race was passing through West Marin and reportedly had a permit from the county Community Development Agency.

POINT REYES STATION - Deputies received a report of men with a spotlight and rifles on a hill. Deputies made sure the men were not poaching deer.

FOREST KNOLLS - A resident complained that a drunk man was in the street at Montezuma Road and Sir Francis Drake Boulevard at midnight yelling obscenities.

POINT REYES STATION - Someone destroyed a ranch's wooden gate by driving over it.

INVERNESS - A man on Douglass Street complained of a neighbor's loud stereo and said it was an ongoing problem. He said the neighbor had been threatening when asked to turn the music down. After a deputy contacted the neighbor, he turned down the music.

WOODACRE - Deputies received a report of a loud hissing sound coming from the PG&E substation.

TOMALES - A deputy found 25 marijuana plants growing along the Tomales-Petaluma Road and seized them.

STINSON BEACH - A deputy told a man camping on the beach at the end of Calle del Occidente to move on.

FOREST KNOLLS - A man told deputies he believes another man is being over-medicated by his wife. The first man said he had seen the second man the day before, "and he looked awful."

WOODACRE - Firefighters searched for a two-year-old boy who had wandered away from home. He was found near his Laurel Avenue residence.

INVERNESS PARK - A man told deputies his neighbor, 58, had threatened to "ice your ass."
