September 29, 2005 Sheriff's Calls

FOREST KNOLLS – A resident at 7:09 p.m. Tuesday notified deputies that a neighbor "has flames shooting 15 feet up in the air from a barrel," which was near her house. Firefighters contacted the neighbor, and the fire was extinguished.

NICASIO – A Lucas Valley Road resident at 8:13 p.m. Tuesday reported that a man was "jumping up and down in the middle of the street cussing at cars." A deputy determined the man was trying to flag down a ride and "transported [him] out of the area."

POINT REYES STATION – A Highway 1 resident at 12:23 p.m. Tuesday reported a 50-year-old woman, who just had hip surgery, was on dialysis and having trouble breathing. Medics responded.

FOREST KNOLLS – A resident at 2:16 p.m. Tuesday reported hearing a man and woman yelling. A deputy found the couple and determined they were not yelling at each other but at their dog.

STINSON BEACH – A Rafael Patio homeowner at 10:15 p.m. Sunday notified deputies that his neighbor had told him that someone had earlier been seen sleeping in an old Mercedes in front of the man’s home. By the time the man got the call, the car was gone, but "a bike and golf clubs were in front of the house," the neighbor had told him. Several items were stolen from the house, and the burglar left some of his own property behind. At 5:22 p.m. Tuesday, the man asked deputies if he should keep items belonging to the burglar or if they should be "left for the garbage man." A deputy gave him advice. Officers also agreed to provide extra patrols around the home.

FOREST KNOLLS – A caller at 6:16 a.m. Monday reported that people were sleeping in a white van parked at Guadalupe Avenue and Montezuma Road. A deputy found the people were working in the area and told them county law does not allow spending nights in vehicles except in campgrounds.

SAN GERONIMO – A woman at 7:42 a.m. Monday notified deputies that an 87-year-old woman, who has emphysema, all night had been having difficulty breathing. Medics responded.

TOMALES – A resident at 9:26 a.m. Monday told deputies that a Tomales High student has refused to go to school for two weeks. She said his family "would like to know how to get him there." A deputy said he would go to their home.

TOMALES – A Highway 1 resident at 12:42 p.m. Monday complained of "pain in [her] right shoulder that is going down the back and into the neck." She said the "pain started last night about an hour after she lifted a 20-pound bag of kitty litter." She also "stated she felt slightly dizzy."

NICASIO – Deputies at 2:13 p.m. Monday received a report that a horse had kicked an 80-year-old man below his knee.

BOLINAS – A deputy on Wharf Road at 3:45 p.m. Monday found a drunk man wanted on a Solano County warrant. The officer was told the warrant did not warrant taking the drunk to jail and that the deputy should "just advise the subject to pay the bail amount." The officer subsequently took the drunk to a detoxification center.

NICASIO – A resident at 5:03 p.m. Monday told deputies that strangers were "shooting some type of gun towards [her] residence." She said the strangers "come out quite often" and that it "appears that [they] are doing some sort of target practice." A deputy responded.

BOLINAS – A Brighton Avenue resident at 5:51 p.m. Monday notified deputies that people were building a large bonfire on the beach. County firefighters responded and asked for a deputy to accompany them. The resident said the people building the fire had been involved in a physical fight earlier.

INVERNESS – A resident at 7:14 a.m. Sunday told deputies her sister, "who is abusive and aggressive, wants to look at documents at [her] residence." She asked that a deputy stand by while the sister was at the residence, and a deputy did so.

STINSON BEACH – A woman at 11:12 a.m. Sunday reported a real estate sign on Calle del Sierra had been "broken and thrown away" and that there was "other miscellaneous vandalism."

STINSON BEACH – A Calle del Pradero resident at 11:20 a.m. Sunday complained of "ongoing problems" with a nearby renter who is "destroying [her] property." She said his white truck was "currently on [her] shrubbery, and she would like a deputy to speak with the subject about this."

POINT REYES STATION – A deputy at 1:36 p.m. Sunday found a "cow caught in the fence" of a pasture behind the sheriff’s substation. The officer later reported the cow had been "reunited with ranchers."

WOODACRE – A Madrone Avenue resident at 7:13 p.m. Saturday reported a "car cover was taken from [his] car and thrown into a creek, and the driver’s side mirror was broken off."

WOODACRE – A Central Avenue resident at 9:36 a.m. Saturday told deputies vandals had smashed both sideview mirrors on her boss’ parked car during the night.

WOODACRE – A Madrone Avenue resident at 10:25 a.m. Saturday reported a vandal took the side mirror off her vehicle during the night. She told deputies "she has noticed several other vehicles damaged in the area."

WOODACRE – A resident at 6:25 p.m. Saturday reported that "someone threw a stop sign over a fence into [his] backyard" that day. He said he had "placed the sign back out where it belongs" at Crescent and Redwood drives, "but the sign needs to be properly secured." The resident gave deputies the name of a juvenile suspect.

BOLINAS – A man on Wharf Road at 7:49 p.m. Saturday reported a 34-year-old man "is walking around on the beach with a stick, threatening people." He added that the second man was "in the process of stealing a large, all-blue tent, which he threw into bushes." The first man said the second "doesn’t have a vehicle" and "is violent."

STINSON BEACH – A resident at 8:16 p.m. Saturday reported a "bonfire on the beach surrounded by approximately 15 people, whose vehicles are blocking roads in the area." A deputy later reported, "Bonfire extinguished." He added that a vehicle had been ticketed for illegal parking.

FALLON – A resident at 9:16 p.m. Saturday reported hearing "12 or more gunshots" in the area of Fallon-Two Rock and Martinoni roads. A deputy checked the area but found no one shooting.

STINSON BEACH – A man on Highway 1 reported that three or four males drove a vehicle around a Park Service gate "and got the vehicle stuck in a mud pit." He said the males were "very drunk." Deputies were subsequently told three Park Service rangers were en route to the scene.

NICASIO – Deputies and the Highway Patrol at 11:45 p.m. Saturday received a report from a Nicasio Valley Road resident who said she had heard a car crash. Firefighters told officer that teenage occupants of a vehicle fled the scene while two others were "out and walking" around. Deputies later said the missing occupants had gone to the woman’s residence.

POINT REYES STATION – A resident at 3:08 a.m. Sunday reported hearing a possible gunshot on Mesa Road and "a vehicle pull out very fast."

POINT REYES STATION – Medics responded at 7:42 p.m. Friday when an 84-year-old woman experienced "flu symptoms."

STINSON BEACH – A Calle de la Ribera resident at 9:33 p.m. Friday reported five teenagers were gathered around a bonfire on the beach. A deputy directed that the bonfire be extinguished and warned the youths it was illegal.

LAGUNITAS – A Sir Francis Drake resident at 10:24 p.m. Friday complained about "loud music," which she said may be coming from the Fire Road area.

MARSHALL – A sheriff’s patrolcar hit a deer on the Marshall-Petaluma Road at 11:39 p.m. Friday.

FALLON – A Middle Road resident at 12:47 a.m. Saturday reported a 51-year-old "motorcyclist struck a deer." The motorcyclist, who said he was traveling at about 35 mph, told her he "knows he has a broken shoulder." He also scraped an eye although he was wearing a helmet. The resident said she was moving the motorcycle off the roadway.

DILLON BEACH – A woman staying on Kailua Way reported at 2:42 a.m. Saturday that someone was "pounding on the door." She said she could see three men in a red car parked in the driveway of the home she was renting for the weekend. The woman said the men were possibly drunk.

FOREST KNOLLS – A resident at 1:53 p.m. Friday told deputies that a vandal had smashed the passenger-side widow of her SUV. A deputy determined the damage was caused by a "rock slide" and gave her advice.

WOODACRE – A woman at 2:22 p.m. Friday asked what to do about a youth trespassing on her property. A deputy gave her advice.

BOLINAS – A Wharf Road resident at 3:19 p.m. Friday told deputies she was concerned about an encampment of homeless people. She said the encampment included a tent with a black-and-brown dog "hanging around the area." A deputy checked the identification of two people and released them.

INVERNESS – A Toyota at 3:28 p.m. Friday ran off the road at Sir Francis Drake Boulevard and North Dream Farm Road. Deputies and Highway Patrol officers handled traffic control.

INVERNESS PARK – A vehicle at 4:04 p.m. Friday ran off Sir Francis Drake Boulevard and hit a phone pole.

BOLINAS WYE – A woman at 8:21 p.m. last Thursday reported a deer had been stuck in traffic on Highway 1 and was still alive.

FOREST KNOLLS – A man 10:50 p.m. last Thursday reported a deer had been hit in traffic on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard but was still alive and in the bushes.

OLEMA VALLEY – Deputies at 7:27 a.m. last Thursday received a report of a cow on Highway 1. An officer could not find it.

POINT REYES STATION – Deputies at 11:42 a.m. last Thursday received a report from Commodore Webster Drive that a 45-year-old man, who is allergic to bee stings, had been stung. The man was throwing up and having difficulty breathing. Medication was not providing relief, so he was transported to a hospital by helicopter.

POINT REYES STATION – Medics, deputies, and the Highway Patrol at 2:31 p.m. last Thursday responded to a calf barn along Highway 1 after a manure truck rolled over, leaving a man bleeding but conscious.

STINSON BEACH – A woman on Arenal Avenue at 5:06 p.m. last Thursday reported a man in his 40s, whose Isuzu had been in a parking lot two hours, was drinking in the car and throwing things.

BOLINAS – A man on Brighton Avenue at 6:18 p.m. last Thursday notified deputies that four or five 13 year olds and 14 year olds were skateboarding on the railing of the postoffice. In addition, he said, the adolescents were not wearing any protective gear. The youths were gone when a deputy arrived.

NICASIO – A Laurel Canyon road resident at 8:24 a.m. last Wednesday reported being the victim of identity fraud.

LAGUNITAS – A Sir Francis Drake Boulevard resident at 9:57 a.m. last Wednesday reported his son’s car had been vandalized over the weekend while parked in the area. He gave deputies the name of a suspect.

BOLINAS – A resident at 11:38 a.m. last Wednesday complained that a man is running a car-repair business out of a Wonderbread truck, which he parks at Brighton Avenue and Wharf Road. When a deputy arrived, no one was at the scene.

BOLINAS – A resident at 9:28 a.m. Sept. 20 complained that a 30-year-old man has been spending nights in a sleeping bag in bushes beside Brighton Avenue. A deputy did not find him.

STINSON BEACH – A man reported at 11:27 a.m. Sept. 20 that a house had been broken into over the weekend and a "large amount of money was taken."

POINT REYES STATION – A woman asked deputies for assistance "in contacting the Federal Trade Commission to report possible computer fraud." A deputy helped her contact the Federal Trade Commission, which took a report.

WOODACRE – A resident at 2:50 p.m. Sept. 20 reported a neighbor in her 50s had accused her of taking something that belonged to the second woman and then "attacked" her. Deputies took a battery report.

SAN GERONIMO – A 37-year-old, constipated woman reported "rectal bleeding due to straining." She said she "took a laxative last night but has had no positive results." She said felt dizzy and was also weak from other medical problems. Medics responded.

TOCALOMA – A woman at 5:17 p.m. Sept. 20 reported a green truck and a gold-colored SUV had collided, saying it appeared that one vehicle sideswiped the other. The Highway Patrol handled the mishap.

FOREST KNOLLS – A resident at 11:57 p.m. Sept. 19 reported a deer had been struck by a vehicle at Sir Francis Drake Boulevard and Arroyo Road. A deputy could not find it.

BOLINAS – A woman at 12:08 a.m. Sept. 20 complained about "one or more guys working on cars all evening – banging pneumatic tools." All was quiet when a deputy arrived.

BOLINAS – Two motorists driving with suspended licenses collided on Mesa Road at 7:46 a.m. Sept. 19. Both their vehicles were impounded.

POINT REYES STATION – A resident at 12:57 p.m. Sept. 19 told deputies his 70-year-old father, who had just had a pacemaker put in, had trouble breathing during the night.

 

September 22, 2005 Sheriff's Calls

DOGTOWN – A Bolinas motorist at 10:19 p.m. Sunday told motorists that while he was driving on Highway 1, he had seen a "man slumped over at the side of the road." A deputy found the man and reported, "The subject is fine, just walking slow."

SAN GERONIMO – Deputies at 12:58 a.m. Monday received a report of a man and woman screaming profanities, with the female crying and someone honking a horn. A deputy found a small group of youths at the school and reported it "seems like a function is letting out." While he was on the scene, he took a report of an auto burglary that had just occurred at the school.

NICASIO – A deputy at 2:56 a.m. Monday notified the Humane Society of an injured deer on Nicasio Valley Road.

POINT REYES STATION – A woman at 8:03 a.m. Sunday reported losing her wallet in a main street business. She said credit cards, her driver’s license, and $175 in cash were in the wallet.

BOLINAS – A Brighton Avenue resident at 9:40 a.m. Sunday told deputies she could "hear a woman screaming unintelligible words," probably "from inside a residence." A deputy subsequently reported the second woman had been noisily venting her displeasure with all the noise downtown the previous night when "her cat dragged a dead mouse in." This apparently escalated the screaming even though "the cat did kill the mouse," a deputy told The Light. "I saw it."

BOLINAS – A Brighton Avenue resident at 10:56 a.m. Sunday complained about someone’s parked Chevrolet blocking his driveway. Deputies checked the car’s license plate number and determined the vehicle was registered to someone from Tulsa City, Oklahoma. However, it was gone before an officer arrived on the scene.

TOMALES – A Tomales-Petaluma Road resident at 11:24 a.m. Sunday reported a woman was fighting with someone at a ranch. She told deputies an orange truck had just driven away; then she said it had just driven back.

FOREST KNOLLS – A woman at 4:02 p.m. Sunday called deputies from a downtown business to report a man, who was in his 60s and driving a brown Volkswagen van, had "talked to [some] girls about inappropriate subject matter." She said the girls had been holding a bake sale four hours earlier when they encountered the man, who was wearing short pants and long socks.

INVERNESS PARK – Deputies at 8:41 a.m. Sunday received a report of a cow on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard.

FOREST KNOLLS – A resident at 9:15 p.m. Saturday reported some youths "just broke bottles and there is garbage all over the inside of the postoffice. The man, who lives near the postoffice, said he unsuccessfully chased two 14-year-old boys east and that "they smelled of booze."

BOLINAS – A Brighton Avenue resident at 10:11 p.m. Saturday reported fireworks and a bonfire on the beach. The caller described the beachgoers as "a bunch of very happy kids." A deputy found no fireworks but did order that three fires be extinguished.

BOLINAS – A Brighton Avenue resident at 11:19 p.m. Saturday notified deputies that a man in his 20s had assaulted four or five people, hitting people with his hands and throwing rocks. One 20-year-old boy’s scalp was split open by a rock, and an all-points bulletin was issued for the 20 year old from San Anselmo who threw it. A deputy noted that the victim’s girlfriend was also slightly injured. He added that along with the fighting there was "a lot of vandalism," and tires were slashed on several vehicles. The deputy said the Sheriff’s Department had been warned there might be a fight that night between Tamalpais High and Redwood High students. He added that didn’t mean the fight was based on school rivalry and may have merely been a fight between two groups who happen to attend different schools.

BOLINAS – A Brighton Avenue resident at 3:13 a.m. Sunday complained about a verbal disturbance involving six or more people. A deputy later reported the disturbance had been "quieted."

BOLINAS – The Highway Patrol at 7:59 a.m. Saturday reported a Mazda minivan had hit a tree at Mesa and Olema-Bolinas roads. No one was injured.

STINSON BEACH – A deputy at 1:21 a.m. Sunday directed that a fire along Highway 1 be put out.

STINSON BEACH – A resident at 9:59 a.m. Saturday reported his 20-month-old daughter was having a seizure. He said the girl’d had previous seizures and that after receiving medication, she seems to be "coming out of it."

WOODACRE – A man at 4:01 p.m. Saturday said he had just seen three youths and an adult about 50 coming out from under a bridge on San Geronimo Valley Drive and leave in a small SUV. He said he was concerned they may have been adding to the graffiti under the bridge.

STINSON BEACH –A Calle del Pradero Resident at 5:39 p.m. Saturday reported two cars were parked on her shrubbery and that some of her parking cones were missing. She said she would like the vehicles moved off her shrubs. A deputy determined that since Calle del Pradero is not a publicly maintained road, he couldn’t enforce the vehicle code there. And even if it were a public road, he added, the parking was legal.

DILLON BEACH – A man at 6:19 p.m. Saturday reported that one male had threatened another.

BOLINAS – A deputy on Wharf Road at 8:27 p.m. Friday arrested a man on charges of public drunkenness and petty theft. A deputy said the suspect may have also battered the victim, but the suspect was not charged with battery.

DILLON BEACH – A man on Marine View Drive at 6:19 p.m. Saturday said two other men had gotten into a quarrel, and "one threatened the other with a barbecue fork." The man with the barbecue fork eventually "ran," and the "victim is satisfied," the caller said.

FOREST KNOLLS – A resident at 6:40 p.m. Saturday reported being the victim of "battery and violation of a temporary restraining order."

WOODACRE – A resident at 7:03 p.m. Friday told deputies she was trying to evict her boyfriend, but he "hasn’t removed his belongings." She noted there is no history of domestic violence between them. A deputy gave her advice.

INVERNESS – Deputies and medics responded at 7:08 p.m. Friday when a man became dizzy as a result of diabetes and kidney failure.

BOLINAS – A deputy at 8:27 p.m. Friday arrested a person on Wharf Road on charges of public drunkenness and 488 PC. Also cited on charge of "battery on the same subject."

WOODACRE – A resident at 8:51 p.m. Friday complained that a group of youths were "partying and drinking" in the Fire Road area. She said they were an "ongoing problem." A deputy reported that "two juveniles left" when he showed up.

BOLINAS – A 41-year-old resident at 11:44 p.m. Friday called deputies crying after she "slipped and fell." Although her cellular calls kept disconnecting, she was able to communicate that her boyfriend was arriving. When the dispatcher tried to speak to the boyfriend, the call was lost.

BOLINAS – A resident at 3:45 a.m. Saturday complained about loud people on the Wharf Road dock. When a deputy checked, he found no one at the dock and only three people in front of the community center. The three "weren’t involved in any noise disturbance," he reported.

WOODACRE – A resident at 8:44 a.m. Friday reported a 14-year-old neighbor has been putting "large pieces of wood on her property" as a form of "ongoing harassment." She said she believes he has been harassing her for several months, and a deputy told her how to get a court to issue a restraining order against him. At 9:37 a.m. Saturday, she reported that during the night "stuff" had been "moved around" on her property and that she believed the youth had come back. A deputy contacted the boy, and he denied doing so. The officer, nonetheless, told him to stay away from her property.

STINSON BEACH – The Highway Patrol at 10:31 a.m. Friday reported "getting numerous calls" that a motorcyclist had hit a guardrail and crashed on Highway 1. Despite an embankment, the motorcyclist had only gone "over the rail about five feet," the CHP said, so there would be "no rope-rescue problems."

MUIR BEACH – A resident at 2:55 p.m. Friday told deputies, "There are people in the park cutting down a very old/landmark tree and [that she] is very upset." The woman said, "It could possibly be the US Park Police," adding that she was calling the Park Police now." A deputy quoted her as saying "she is going down to the tree to make sure they don’t cut it down and kill it."

WOODACRE – A woman at 4:42 p.m. Friday said her mother has given a 55-year-old tenant an eviction notice. The third woman is now calling her "mother several times a night," the daughter, adding that this sounds like harassment. A deputy told her how to get a court to issue a restraining order against the tenant. At 6:46 p.m., the mother called to say the tenant was in her house "yelling" at her. As deputies headed to the house, they received word that the tenant "said something about shooting" the mother, who had locked herself in a room.

SAN GERONIMO – A tenant at 8:59 p.m. last Thursday reported "having issues with [the] landlord due to ongoing construction at the rental unit" and asked "how to deal with the situation." A deputy gave advice.

NICASIO – A Lucas Valley Road resident at 9:59 p.m. last Thursday told deputies that "someone destroyed her trash cans and threw trash all over her property and her neighbor’s within the last two hours." Officers ruled out a "raccoon or vehicle collision" since the "damage was to trash cans only." Deputies agreed to conduct extra patrols in the area.

STINSON BEACH – An Arenal Avenue resident at 7:49 p.m. last Wednesday complained that a man was "doing construction in the backyard of an apartment complex. The drilling [and] Skillsaw [are] excessively loud," she said." The man started about 3 p.m., the resident added. When a deputy arrived, all was quiet.

BOLINAS – A Brighton Avenue resident at 7:43 p.m. Sept. 13 reported three bonfires on the beach "and another smoldering one with no campers." In addition, she said, she was "concerned about a lantern in the bushes near the first green seawall." A deputy subsequently reported, "Area checked. Fires out."

FOREST KNOLLS – A Resaca Avenue resident at 9:42 a.m. Sept. 13 notified deputies that at 7 a.m. she saw a man in his 20s or 30s and wearing a black hood "shaking her upstairs front-bedroom window, trying to open it." [She] scared him off, but she did not see which way he left or a vehicle, but she "then found a used condom," an officer quoted her as saying. She also discovered that a tire on her car had been slashed. Deputies said they would conduct extra patrols in the area.

 

September 15, 2005 Sheriff's Calls

WOODACRE – A Maple Road resident at 8:44 p.m. Sunday reported hearing a "big explosion" a quarter mile away. A deputy found nothing amiss and "checked with several people that were out, and they did not hear anything."

LAGUNITAS – A resident at 7:53 a.m. Sunday complained that a paving company had left lugged-vehicle tracks in front of her home. She said the company may also have damaged a retaining wall and bulkhead.

INVERNESS PARK – A Sir Francis Drake Boulevard resident at 11:51 a.m. Sunday reported her 46-year-old boyfriend, who was drunk, had her car. She said he was last seen at White House Pool and that she would like to know when she can pick up her car.

MARSHALL – A man on Highway 1 at 3:25 p.m. Sunday notified deputies that a female guest was missing from a party and might be in an altered state of mind. A deputy later reported the woman was "located all okay."

POINT REYES STATION – Deputies at 3:34 p.m. Sunday received a report that "a motorcycle had tipped over at a very low speed" near Highway 1 and the Point Reyes-Petaluma Road. An officer said the biker did not need medical attention.

POINT REYES STATION – A deputy at 5:39 p.m. Sunday received a "report of two ladies fighting in the street." When a deputy arrived at the scene near the Green Bridge, he found a vehicle stopped in a traffic lane and two women in a "discussion over who was the driver of the vehicle." One woman had said the other was too intoxicated to drive and had taken away her keys. The second woman wanted to drive, but the deputy told them that the first woman should drive.

BOLINAS – Medics responded to Brighton Avenue at 8:41 p.m. Saturday when a woman stepped on a rusty nail.

BOLINAS – A woman on Wharf Road at 8:50 p.m. Saturday notified deputies that she had lost $650 when she got out of her car downtown and that she believes "an acquaintance absconded with it."

BOLINAS – A deputy on Wharf Road at 1:17 a.m. Sunday arrested a 28-year-old man on charges of drunk driving and driving without a license.

WOODACRE – A sheriff’s patrolcar at 1:17 a.m. Sunday hit a deer at San Geronimo Valley Drive and Sir Francis Drake Boulevard. The crash shattered the housing around a turn signal.

BOLINAS – Deputies at 9:05 a.m. Saturday received a report from someone walking on Brighton Beach that there were "at least five campsites with two fires going. [The person] said, ‘It looks like New Orleans.’" A deputy moved the campers along.

WOODACRE – A man at 9:32 a.m. Saturday complained about a blue vehicle parked in front of a fire hydrant at Madrone Avenue and Redwood Drive. A deputy issued two parking tickets.

MARSHALL – A Highway 1 resident at 12:25 p.m. Saturday reported that a woman had apparently been in a bicycle accident and was being carried by a man. The victim was holding her hip, and the resident said the man had asked her to call 911.

FOREST KNOLLS – A man at 5:35 p.m. Saturday reported a silver-colored Mazda with a six-pack of beer inside was parked on the street. A deputy determined the car’s license plate had been issued to a Honda and had expired seven years ago. A recycling company in Oakdale owns the chassis, deputies learned.

STINSON BEACH – A state-park dispatcher at 5:59 p.m. Saturday reported a motorcyclist had crashed at Panoramic Highway and Highway 1, but the man riding the bike had not been hurt.

OLEMA – A woman at 6:39 p.m. Saturday said a 41-year-old man at a business had told her he was in a motorcycle accident and may have injured his arm. She reported that the man "is drinking whiskey and says he is trying to alleviate the pain." The man said a friend would give him a ride, she added.

CHILENO VALLEY – A landowner at 9:55 p.m. Friday reported hearing "semi-automatic" rifle fire on his ranch. He said a friend is with two vehicles that may be involved in the shooting and that he himself had blocked the exit from his property.

STINSON BEACH – A downtown resident at 10:38 p.m. Friday reported that three teenagers were "acting drunk" on the porch of the community center. When a deputy arrived, the resident said the teens left 10 minutes earlier.

STINSON BEACH – Medics were alerted at 12:04 a.m. Saturday that a 55-year-old man, who had been depressed, may have taken too many anti-depressant pills.

BOLINAS – A Wharf Road resident at 1:05 a.m. Saturday told deputies she had just been wakened by what sounded like an explosion. A deputy found nothing amiss, and no one else downtown reported hearing a loud noise.

POINT REYES STATION – Deputies at 8:05 a.m. Friday reported there was a non-injury vehicle crash at Point Reyes-Petaluma Road and Highway 1. However, a towtruck would be needed, they said.

BOLINAS – A caller, who insisted on remaining anonymous, at 12:33 p.m. Friday reported five people were camping in bushes near Ocean Parkway and Terrace Avenue. A deputy could not find the encampment, and without knowing who the caller was, he couldn’t ask for more details as to the location.

INVERNESS – After going to a clinic to have her injuries checked, a resident at 2:46 p.m. Friday reported her live-in boyfriend, 32, battered her the previous day. At 8:52 p.m., deputies tried for the second time without success to find the boyfriend and serve him with an Emergency Protective Order. The order required him to stay away from her. At 5:38 p.m. Saturday, deputies found him back at the couple’s residence, served him with the EPO, and arrested him on charges of domestic violence.

BOLINAS – A resident at 2:29 p.m. Friday reported a man and woman, who were both drunk, were walking down Mesa Road and trespassing. The caller said one of them was carrying a briefcase. A deputy found the couple, who were not drunk, and gave them a ride downtown.

WOODACRE – A housesitter at 6:30 p.m. Friday reported two vehicles, a BMW driven by a blonde and a black pickup truck, had abandoned a metal filing cabinet on the front deck.

MARSHALL – Deputies and a rancher at 8:55 p.m. last Thursday herded cows off Highway 1 north of Nicks Cove.

FOREST KNOLLS – A man at 10:45 p.m. last Thursday reported a 47-year-old man, who was drunk, was hitchhiking in front of a business. He said the man is already on probation for assault, battery, vandalism, and violation of a court-issued restraining order.

STINSON BEACH – A Calle del Pradero resident at 12:15 p.m. last Thursday reported that three large cones used to control parking had been stolen. She said they are worth between $150 and $200.

DILLON BEACH – A deputy responded at 6:57 p.m. last Thursday when a woman reported that a drunken man had started talking about guns.

MARSHALL – A Highway 1 resident at 7:34 p.m. last Wednesday reported a purse had been stolen from her car, whose lock had been tampered with.

WOODACRE – A resident at 10:03 p.m. last Wednesday complained about youths creating a disturbance by being loud and possibly drinking on Fire Road. The youths left when a deputy arrived.

OLEMA – The Highway Patrol at 10:33 p.m. Sept. 6 reported a raccoon injured in traffic was "still alive" in the northbound lane of Highway 1 at Sir Francis Drake Boulevard.

HICKS VALLEY – A woman at 1:39 p.m. Sept. 6 reported a motorhome on Novato Boulevard was on fire. She said she got the information from the driver of a truck delivering portable toilets.

BOLINAS – A resident at 8:09 p.m. Sept. 5 told deputies he could hear fireworks at the beach end of Wharf Road. A deputy could not find them.

OLEMA – A woman at 7:21 a.m. Sept. 5 told deputies a "large number of people [were] in a fight at the campground." She said the fight, which involved six to eight people, was between motorcycle riders and campers. People were honking horns, she said.

INVERNESS – A man at 9:15 a.m. Sept. 5 reported losing his wallet containing credit cards and his driver’s license.

DILLON BEACH – Medics responded at 11:17 a.m. Sept. 5 when a woman reported that a 60-year-old man’s hand had been smashed between a trailer and its hitch.

WOODACRE – A woman at 12:12 p.m. Sept. 5 reported a vandal had sprayed shaving cream on her car Saturday night. She said she knows who did it.

DILLON BEACH – A woman at 12:32 p.m. Sept. 5 reported a group of youths were smoking pot.

DILLON BEACH – Medics responded to Oceana Drive at 3:58 p.m. Sept. 5 when a 56-year-old woman fainted and hit her head when she fell. The caller reported the second woman was now conscious.

 

September 8, 2005 Sheriff's Calls

WOODACRE – A Railroad Avenue resident at 8:38 p.m. Sunday reported her car had been vandalized over the weekend. She said she was able to wash a "soapy substance" off her car before it did any damage to the vehicle. The resident said she might have ongoing problems with youngsters in the neighborhood.

WOODACRE – A member of the Improvement Club staff at 10:05 a.m. Sunday reported that a vandal had dumped brake fluid in the swimming pool, defaced a door with graffiti, and broken a pair of hedge clippers. A deputy at the top of Mission Pass questioned one possible suspect but did not detain him.

STINSON BEACH – A Calle de la Onda resident at 11:02 p.m. Sunday told deputies she could see a bonfire on the beach. Deputies could not find it.

STINSON BEACH – A Calle del Embarcadero resident at 10:03 p.m. Sunday reported a bonfire on the beach. He added that a second fire had "just started" on the beach at the end of Calle del Occidente. A deputy directed that the fires be put out and advised the beachgoers that county law prohibited their fires.

LAGUNITAS – A resident at 12:12 a.m. Monday complained about a loud party in the Caparro Avenue neighborhood. She said that in the past when people complained to deputies, the host turned down the music and then turned it back up when the deputies left. A deputy contacted the host "who agreed to turn down the music and keep it down for the night."

INVERNESS – A Camino del Mar resident at 3:48 p.m. Sunday complained about a gray Range Rover that, he said, was parked in front of a Shell Beach parking lot gate. The vehicle was gone when a deputy arrived.

DILLON BEACH – The owner of a Kailua Way vacation rental at 3:17 a.m. Friday called deputies to say officers had earlier responded to a party at the rental unit where they found some guests drunk. He said officers "advised" him to let some guests stay longer at the house because they were too intoxicated to leave. The owner was now calling back, he said, because the group was letting more people stay at the house than their rental contract allowed. At 10:46 p.m. Friday, he and his wife called again to complain that more people than the eight-occupant limit were staying in the house. The wife said she had asked people to leave, but they had refused. A deputy followed the landlord and renters through the house to make sure 10 people left. At 8 a.m. Saturday, she called to say there were now 17 people staying in the rental house despite the eight-person maximum. She said that some of the occupants left after the deputies’ second visit but then returned "shortly afterward." When a deputy went to the vacation rental with her, he said, the "renters were disagreeable and rude."

BOLINAS – A woman at 10:51 a.m. Saturday notified deputies that a man in his 50s was working on a white car on Brighton Avenue, with his tools in a green truck on Wharf Road. She told officers she was "concerned because there is a waterway nearby, and stuff is going into it." When a deputy arrived, the man and the car were gone, and "no mess" was left behind "in the street."

BOLINAS – A Terrace Avenue resident at 12:12 p.m. Saturday called deputies on behalf of a friend that had loaned a car to a second friend, who had not returned it.

STINSON BEACH – Medics and deputies responded to Sonoma Patio at 12:29 p.m. Saturday after a 50-year-old man was brought to a residence following a bicycle accident. Deputies received word that the man’s injuries were unknown but that he was "having a hard time remembering things."

LAGUNITAS – A resident at 5:52 p.m. Saturday notified deputies that an older white sedan filled with furniture was "cruising" in the area of Corona and Mountain View avenues. He said people in the car might be looking for a place to dump the items. Deputies could not find them.

BOLINAS – A resident at 7:07 p.m. Friday reported a recreational vehicle had been "parked for at least six weeks" in the area of Brighton and Park avenues. She said she believed people were living in the cream-colored RV, which has turquoise and brown stripes. A deputy found one person in the RV, who was advised about a Marin County ordinance that prohibits living in vehicles except in campgrounds.

INVERNESS – A resident at 9:39 p.m. told deputies a suspicious man in his 40s or 50s and wearing a beard was riding a bicycle near the top of Ottinger’s Hill. The resident said the second man had "lots of bags" hanging from his bicycle. He asked that Point Reyes National rangers check on the man, but no one could find him.

WOODACRE – A resident at 11:45 p.m. Friday notified deputies that his 42-year-old ex-girlfriend had come to his house and refused to leave. He noted, "She is now locked out of the house and on a deck." The resident added that the woman was neither drunk nor high, just "hysterical."

NICASIO – Deputies at 1:17 a.m. Friday were asked to determine whether a 21-year-old woman was a threat to her own safety after she said she wanted to drive off a cliff.

BOLINAS – A woman at 3:32 a.m. Friday notified deputies that someone kept "tapping" at her door.

DILLON BEACH – A deputy at 9:26 a.m. Friday reported a white BMW had run off Valley Ford-Franklin School Road and was in a ditch. No one was injured, but the deputy said he would wait a few minutes for a towtruck since the mishap was at "a bad location."

WOODACRE – A Redwood Drive man at 9:48 a.m. Friday told deputies about more problems in an ongoing dispute with his neighbor. He said the neighbor, a landlord, had "evicted his tenants and while cleaning up deliberately moved an abandoned trailer onto [the caller’s] property." He said the neighbor is constantly coming onto his property "to cut down trees and remove fences."

FOREST KNOLLS – A man in Ireland, who owns property in town, on Aug. 30 placed an overseas call to deputies concerning a tenant with a four-year-old child. The man said someone was using his personal telephone at the property and had made 50 phone calls in July. The man agreed to take up the problem with SBC.

BOLINAS – A woman on Aug. 30 notified deputies that a 13-year-old boy had fractured an ankle jumping into a pile of woodchips.

FOREST KNOLLS – A resident at 7:33 p.m. Aug. 30 said the neighbors were "arguing and screaming." The caller expressed concern for the woman, saying that the man, who is in is 40s, "is weird."

STINSON BEACH – A man on Arenal Avenue at 9:06 a.m. Aug. 30 said someone had rummaged through his unlocked vehicle but not taken anything.

INVERNESS PARK – A caregiver at 10:51 a.m. Aug. 30 told deputies that a 92-year-old man, who had just been treated at a hospital for an infection, was now sweating and could not talk. However, he was starting "to move his extremities," the caregiver added. Medics responded.

FOREST KNOLLS – A woman, who is a victim in an assault case, at 10:36 a.m. Aug. 29 reported receiving a threatening call from the suspect. At 12:13 p.m. the next day, she called deputies again to say the suspect had now threatened her if she didn’t get the District Attorney to drop charges against him.

POINT REYES STATION – A townsperson at 1:10 p.m. Aug. 30 asked deputies to make a merchant move a produce stand that supposedly was blocking a sidewalk.

MARSHALL – Medics at 1:15 p.m. Aug. 30 responded to a motorcycle crash on Highway 1 near the Giacomini Ranch. The dispatch deputies received was somewhat garbled in transmission, but the message that came through was that the victim was 70 years old and had received "blunt trauma to [his] abdomen." He was transported to a hospital.

BOLINAS – A resident at 1:31 p.m. Aug. 30 notified deputies that a man in his 30s "with tattoos" was throwing "giant logs at people on the beach" from Marine Way and Terrace Avenue.

TOMALES – A deputy at 5:07 p.m. Aug. 29 helped firefighters string a Founders’ Day banner across Highway 1.

INVERNESS – An Escondido Way resident at 6:54 p.m. Aug. 29 complained that a bus (with a sign on its side saying its fuel was "fossil free") was parked in a driveway where it didn’t belong. A deputy contacted the bus’ owner, who said he thought he had been parked properly.

INVERNESS – Firefighters and deputies at 7:43 p.m. Aug. 29 responded to a burning van parked in a carport on Via de la Vista. No one was home at the residence, and firefighters said the blaze was concentrated in the rear of the van.

BOLINAS – Firefighters and deputies at 2:19 a.m. Aug. 30 responded to a fire on Jute Road. When deputies arrived, they reported, a shed was "fully involved" in flames and a propane tank was venting gas. The fire was contained before it spread to any major structures, PG&E turned off the electricity, and the venting propane tank was sealed.

FOREST KNOLLS – Medics responded when a 43-year-old woman at 8:45 a.m. Aug. 29 reported feeling unwell after "withdrawing from alcohol for 24 hours." She said she was not on medication, but an Alcoholics Anonymous counselor was with her.

WOODACRE – Medics responded to the Improvement Club at 2:05 p.m. Aug. 29 when a 45-year-old man was brought there after hitting his head on an unidentified bridge. Deputies were told the man’s head was cut and that he was in an altered state of consciousness.

 

September 1, 2005 Sheriff's Calls

MARSHALL – A woman at 7:29 p.m. Sunday reported an approximately 70-year-old second woman, who was walking along the edge of Highway 1, "seemed dazed." A deputy found the second woman near Nicks Cove, determined she was 67, from Wyoming, and able to care for herself.

WOODACRE – A woman at 7:30 p.m. Sunday reported that someone, who had been drinking heavily, had lost consciousness off and on 4.5 hours earlier. She said the person takes numerous medicines while intoxicated and that the person’s welfare should be checked. A dispatcher reported not being able to get more information on the person because the caller was "argumentative."

DILLON BEACH – A man at 10:58 p.m. Sunday reported he "was jumped" by a group of teenagers, who injured him. He said the youths live in town and that a female friend of his knows their names. "Neither… knows what provoked the beating," a deputy added.

BOLINAS – A man at 2:19 p.m. Sunday reported that a blue van was blocking the roadway at Terrace Avenue and Marine Way. A deputy gave three vehicles parking tickets.

STINSON BEACH – A man at 2:52 p.m. Sunday told deputies that a white Ford Explorer had been parked in his driveway and was now stuck in a ditch. A towtruck pulled the vehicle free before a deputy arrived.

STINSON BEACH – A resident at 5:33 p.m. Sunday told deputies he could hear a man yelling, "Help!" He said the man was somewhere along Panoramic Highway not far uphill from Highway 1.

SAMUEL TAYLOR PARK – State park rangers at 7:42 p.m. Saturday reported an emotionally disturbed woman was walking in traffic on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard. Rangers subsequently reported she was now off the road.

NICASIO – A resident at 8:25 p.m. Saturday notified deputies that eight people wearing orange vests and carrying rifles were hunting near his home. He said he was concerned "because they are surrounded by cows." He added that he was "wondering if they were hunting a mountain lion." The hunters had now left, he subsequently reported.

INVERNESS – A Camino del Mar resident at 9:15 p.m. Saturday complained about a loud party in the neighborhood. Two deputies in separate patrolcars reported they "heard an adult party" in the area but couldn’t find it.

BOLINAS – A saloon worker at 9:16 p.m. Saturday reported a man in his early 20s had left the bar following a physical disturbance "with another customer." He said the man "threw [the other customer] around." He "also grabbed the [caller] and threw him," a deputy reported.

BOLINAS – A Brighton Avenue resident at 9:42 p.m. Saturday notified deputies of two bonfires and 100 youths on the beach. A deputy later reported the youths were "cooperative" and "dispersed." The two fires were put out.

STINSON BEACH – A Calle del Pradero resident at 10:18 p.m. Saturday notified deputies that someone was living in an orange van parked nextdoor. She called back to say a party was underway where the van was parked and that she "would like them to stop." When a deputy arrived on the scene, all was quiet, the partygoers had gone indoors, and no one was living in the van.

INVERNESS – A resident at 10:55 p.m. Saturday complained about ongoing problems with cars parked by customers of a restaurant.

STINSON BEACH – A Calle de la Sierra resident at 11:08 p.m. Saturday complained about a bonfire on the beach and about a pickup truck driving on the beach. When a deputy arrived, the "party was abated."

BOLINAS – A bartender at 12:53 a.m. Sunday reported hearing a physical disturbance on Wharf Road which reportedly involved 10 to 15 people, "all locals." The bartender said he could hear what might be "bottles being thrown." When a deputy arrived on the scene, the officer reported, "The parties that were involved have mostly dispersed."

BOLINAS – A resident at 2:05 a.m. Sunday said the ex-boyfriend of a tenant "broke into [his] house and is breaking things." He said the man was "possibly drunk or high." The resident added that his own children, 10 and 16, were in the house.

WOODACRE – A woman at 2:12 a.m. Sunday reported hearing a car crash on Rock Ridge Road.

STINSON BEACH – A Calle de la Sierra resident at 4:21 a.m. Sunday notified deputies of a fire on the beach. A deputy later reported the fire was "extinguished."

LAGUNITAS – A deputy on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard at 8:02 a.m. Saturday arrested a woman on Sonoma County warrants involving violation of a court order, drug charges, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

STINSON BEACH – Deputies at 5:26 p.m. Saturday received a report that a wallet belonging to a Novato man had been found.

OLEMA – A passerby at 8:45 p.m. Friday said a man in an altered state of consciousness was lying beside Sir Francis Drake Boulevard downtown. The passerby told deputies the man, who was in his late 50s, said his "knees gave out."

BOLINAS – A resident at 1:33 a.m. Saturday complained that 10 people with "loud bongo drums" had a bonfire on the beach. A deputy directed the people to extinguish their fire and stop the noise.

BOLINAS – A townsman while on Wharf Road at 2:26 a.m. Saturday was arrested on charges of public drunkenness and violating probation.

BOLINAS – A man on Wharf Road at 12:58 p.m. Friday told deputies that at 11 a.m. a second man had "punched [him] in the face and threatened [him]."

BOLINAS – A resident at 1:22 p.m. Friday complained that a 50-year-old man was working on a large brown van at Brighton Avenue and Wharf Road. "There is oil all over the roadway," the first man said, adding that this is an "ongoing issue."

NICASIO – A Nicasio Valley Road resident at 2:03 p.m. Friday reported a man, whom a court has ordered to leave her alone, had driven past her workplace several times. She said the man drives a red Ford Explorer with a bumper hitch that has an American flag on it. She also told deputies the man was arrested last week on charges of violating the court-issued restraining order. A deputy could not find him.

BOLINAS – A man at 5:47 p.m. Friday notified deputies that at 3 p.m. a second man had "started yelling at him that he could not build a fence." A deputy gave him advice.

BOLINAS – A Brighton Avenue resident at 6:23 p.m. Friday notified deputies of a fire on the beach. The fire was extinguished.

BOLINAS – A Little Mesa resident at 8:30 p.m. last Thursday told deputies that two males with a dog were trespassing on her property. She said the two had "started to ask some inappropriate questions" and "said they were just going to the cliff and smoke some dope."

FALLON – Deputies at 9:18 p.m. last Thursday found 26 five-gallon drums, presumably of used motor oil, at Alexander and Fallon-Two Rock roads. Although the drums were "not leaking," deputies asked the county Department of Public Works to pick them up. In recent weeks, DPW has repeatedly recovered drums of used motor oil left beside roads in Northwest Marin.

NICASIO – Deputies at 7:51 p.m. last Wednesday received a report that a man had driven his blue Ford pickup truck into a tree on Lucas Valley Road. Officers were told the driver had gotten out of the truck but "appears disoriented." The Highway Patrol officers said the man might be a threat to his own safety and that they had "earlier made contact" with him at the Golden Gate Bridge.

DILLON BEACH – A woman at 7:54 p.m. Aug. 22 told deputies she had been visiting a beach house on Park Avenue when her $400 Cannon camera was stolen. She said the thief is a man who is now in Jacksonville.

WOODACRE – A Redwood Drive resident at midnight Aug. 22 told deputies that 15 to 20 minutes earlier he "heard a loud trembling sound like a large tree had fallen in the area." He said, "The ground shook." A deputy was unable to find anything amiss.

MUIR BEACH – A resident at 11:06 a.m. Aug. 22 told deputies she believed she was being "scammed over the Internet on Craig’s List."

BOLINAS – A resident at 3:31 p.m. Aug. 22 reported a man in his 30s kept "jumping in front of traffic" in the Alder and Overlook roads neighborhood. She said he had two dogs with him. Deputies could not find the man.
