POINT REYES STATION Firefighters and medics at 7:34 p.m. Monday responded after a caller said a 70-year-old man on Lorraine Avenue had become wedged under a work bench.
POINT REYES STATION A B Street resident at 4:45 a.m. Tuesday reported hearing someone "laughing in a manic way" from a nearby truckyard. When a deputy arrived he found nothing amiss.
POINT REYES STATION A director of a childrens school at 10:03 a.m. Monday told deputies that vandals had broken into the school over the weekend, smashed pumpkins in the school garden, and sprayed walls with graffiti.
WOODACRE A Central Avenue resident at 10:47 a.m. Monday reported a cellphone was stolen from her unlocked car sometime the evening before.
LAGUNITAS A resident at 2:12 p.m. Monday notified deputies that three teenage girls in a light brown Oldsmobile were driving erratically on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard near Lagunitas School. The caller later said the car was parked at the Inkwells.
LAGUNITAS A caller at 2:32 p.m. reported that a suspicious man and woman were walking in the area of Alamo Way and Arroyo Road. The two were carrying a jug of wine and one of them had scars, cuts, and bruises, she said. A deputy learned the woman in the pair had been drinking. After advising them of laws about drinking alcohol in public, he released them.
BOLINAS Deputies were called at 6:06 p.m. when a beachgoer reported a fight out in the surf between a 45-year-old man and a 12-year-old boy. When a deputy arrived, he learned that the man had pushed aside the boys surfboard as they were both vying for the same wave.
BOLINAS A Wharf Road resident at 7:02 p.m. Sunday told deputies two diamond rings worth $4,000 had been stolen from her locked car sometime around noon.
NICASIO A resident at 9:25 p.m. Sunday told deputies she was
at the San Rafael Police Department filing a report against her husband. The woman said she had just been in an argument with her husband as she was driving east on Lucas Valley Road. The woman said she stopped the car at Big Rock and made him get out.
LAGUNITAS A store owner at 11:45 p.m. Sunday reported hearing suspicious rustling sounds outside the back of the store. The caller said he could only see a silhouette of someone.
WOODACRE A Central Avenue resident at 1:31 a.m. Monday told deputies her 18 year-old-son, who they had evicted from home last year, had been at the house when he kicked his father's car and ran off. The woman then said the youth had just driven off in his gold truck.
OLEMA A Stinson Beach resident that was part of a Sunday-morning ride of motorcycles at 9:02 a.m. Sunday reported a park ranger was spraying water at oncoming motorcycles along Highway 1.
NICASIO A Los Pinos resident at 10 a.m. Sunday complained that illegal hunters were on her property, which is adjacent to Marin Open Space District land. A deputy concluded that no crime had occurred, and noted it was the last day of hunting season and the hunters had
valid licenses.
BOLINAS A resident at 10:27 p.m. Sunday told residents he had just done an informal survey that found 26 cars had been parked illegally in the area of Wharf Road and Brighton Avenue. He asked what the Sheriff's office planned to do about this ongoing problem and promised to pressure county Supervisors to address the issue.
BOLINAS A Wharf Road resident at 5:35 p.m. Sunday complained that a large motorhome was parked in her front yard. The caller said she saw a man drinking and smoking in the vehicle, and asked deputies to talk to him. A deputy was unable to find the man.
LAGUNITAS A caller at 5:38 p.m. Sunday asked deputies to accompany him in dropping something off at his wife's home, who had taken out a temporary restraining order against him. A deputy accompanied the man as he dropped something off without incident.
TOMALES A Tomales-Petaluma Road resident at 6:48 p.m. Sunday asked deputies about her son and his girlfriend. The caller said she served the two with a three-day eviction notice over a week ago, but had still not moved out.
OLEMA The Highway Patrol at 10:28 p.m. Saturday night asked deputies for assistance when a vehicle attempted a hit-and-run on Highway 1.
INVERNESS A Madrone Avenue resident at 9:45 p.m. reported hearing two loud explosions that were possibly fireworks in the area of Aberdeen Way and Cameron Street. The caller noted she heard the explosions the night before.
OLEMA The manager of a bar along Highway 1 at 9:50 p.m. Saturday asked deputies to help them close the bar which was filled with a large, unruly crowd. The bar then decided to stay open for a few more hours.
STINSON BEACH A caller at 10:34 p.m. Saturday complained that there was a loud party in the area of Central Drive. The woman called back later to say the music had stopped.
POINT REYES STATION Firefighters and medics responded at 10:43 p.m. Saturday after a report that several men were carrying an unconscious woman in her late 20s to a pickup. Deputies learned the woman had just had a medical episode and was also drunk. Firefighters transported her to Novato Community Hospital.
OLEMA Deputies at 12:10 a.m. Saturday requested the Highway Patrol give a drunk-driving evaluation to a motorist on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard.
POINT REYES STATION A Mesa Road resident at 6:18 a.m. complained that she was very upset that a neighbor's rooster was crowing and keeping her awake. Then at 6:43 a.m., the husband
called to say his 60-year-old wife was "acting crazy" and "tearing up the house" because of the rooster. The man later said his wife had calmed down, and deputies advised the two not to call back on the emergency services line. Then at 7:05 p.m. that evening, the woman again reported the rooster disturbance, and deputies forwarded her complaint to the District Attorney's office for review. A deputy noted, however, that the neighbor had already given away one rooster to satisfy the resident's concerns. He also noted the animal was a farm animal and the land was agriculturally-zoned.
INVERNESS A caller at 9:08 p.m. Saturday reported his daypack and nylon bag were stolen from his unlocked Toyota truck as it was parked on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard.
STINSON BEACH A caller at 12:50 p.m. Saturday notified deputies that someone was selling jewelry at the Village Green park without a permit. The man also said he saw signs for a Farmer's Market that also did not have a permit.
NICASIO Deputies on Saturday afternoon received a tip that a property on Point Reyes-Petaluma Road was growing marijuana.
INVERNESS A caller at 7:54 p.m. Saturday told deputies that a deer had been struck on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard, and that it was now injured on the side of the road. A deputy was unable to locate the deer.
BOLINAS Deputies were called at 8:21 p.m. Saturday when eight cars full of lost vacationers in need of directions were parked illegally on Wharf Road. A deputy advised the group not to park there and told them how to get where they were going.
DILLON BEACH An employee of a campground at 8:21 p.m. Friday reported hearing fireworks north of the boathouse.
DILLON BEACH An employee of a campground at 8:41 p.m. Friday told deputies that two cars of minors were approaching the campground, one carrying an adult and alcohol. The caller asked that a deputy meet her at the gate. When a deputy arrived, he found nothing amiss.
POINT REYES STATION Deputies 11:16 p.m. Friday were alerted that a man in his early 20s was challenging someone to a fight in a bar on Highway 1. When a deputy arrived the man had already left the bar. The deputy learned the man worked in Olema and said he would try to contact him.
STINSON BEACH A caller Friday night told deputies that two women were drunk but trying to get into their vehicle along Highway 1 and drive away. The women were also threatening people, the man reported. He then told deputies the women were leaving on foot.
WOODACRE A Rock Ridge Road resident at 1:35 p.m. Friday asked deputies about serving eviction papers on her daughter, who lived in another house on the property. The daughter called the next day to ask deputies for advice on how to speak with her mother.
POINT REYES STATION An employee of a community center on B Street at 1:37 p.m. Friday reported that someone had stolen a cable modem.
DOGTOWN A counselor of a group home for wayward youth at 2:24 p.m. Friday told deputies that a 14-year-old boy at the home had stolen a bicycle in Bolinas a month earlier and cycled to San Francisco. The boy had returned to the home but the bike was still in San
Francisco, she said.
INVERNESS A Sir Francis Drake Boulevard resident at 2:59 p.m. Friday reported that someone in the last 30 minutes had broken into her GMC Blazer and stolen some purses. A deputy could not find any suspects nearby.
FOREST KNOLLS A Juarez Avenue resident at 6:55 p.m. Friday reported hearing what sounded like gunshots.
DILLON BEACH An Oceana Drive resident at 8:54 a.m. last Thursday notified deputies that she had received an email from someone offering to sell her heroin and cocaine.
SAN GERONIMO A Sage Lane resident at 2:16 p.m. last Thursday told deputies that a coyote was in her backyard sitting under a tree. The caller then reported the coyote was charging at her dog.
STINSON BEACH Deputies were called at 3:09 p.m. last Thursday when a cleaning lady at a private homeowner's association attempted to drive her company car for the first time. The woman did not have a valid license but was following a driving manual when she started backing up the vehicle, panicked, and then hit the gas. The car swiped a vehicle before hitting a tree. No one was injured in the accident.
STINSON BEACH A Calle Del Embarcadero resident at 12:11 a.m. last Wednesday complained that a group of people had lit a large bonfire on the beach. A deputy found a small fire and had it extinguished.
MUIR BEACH Medics and firefighters responded at 10:52 a.m. last Wednesday when an 81-year-old woman fell and was unable to stand up afterwards.
POINT REYES STATION A Mesa Road resident at 4:09 p.m. Sept. 16 asked deputies about illegal dirtbike riding on private property.
DOGTOWN A caller at 4:11 p.m. Sept. 16 notified deputies that an older man with long white hair was swerving on Highway 1 in an early model Volkswagen Bug.
MUIR BEACH A Seacape Drive resident at 4:32 p.m. Sept. 16 reported that someone tried to break into her home unsuccessfully, leaving her lock and door damaged.
NICASIO A caller at 4:34 p.m. Sept. 16 reported a grassfire along Point Reyes-Petaluma Road near just north of Four Corners. As firefighters put out the blaze, deputies assisted the highway patrol in controlling traffic.
September 18, 2003 Sheriff's Calls
TOMALES A Fallon-Two Rock Road resident at 8:16 a.m. Monday told deputies a Chevy Camaro abandoned on the side of the road a week earlier had just been vandalized. The windows had been smashed, and the man said he was concerned vandals would return to set the vehicle on fire.
WOODACRE A caller at 9:36 a.m. Monday told deputies that someone had entered his car the night before where it was parked in the area of Park Street and Railroad Avenue.
BOLINAS The manager of a bar on Wharf Road at 9:27 p.m. Sunday reported a 50-year-old man was refusing to leave. The manager said he was not currently threatening anyone. Deputies were later told the man left the bar.
BOLINAS A caller alerted deputies at 10:04 p.m. Sunday that a "whole nest of people" were sleeping in a white van parked on Wharf Road. The caller wanted the people "cited, not just moved along." A deputy could not find anyone sleeping in vehicles.
BOLINAS The manager of a bar on Wharf Road at 10:12 p.m. Sunday told deputies that she had been struck when a woman slammed the door on her. The alleged assailant had long blonde hair, a blue top, and had a skirt with flowers on it, the manager said. A deputy determined the incident was more a verbal argument rather than a physical assault.
FOREST KNOLLS Deputies were alerted at 7:15 a.m. Sunday when a caller reported she had overturned her vehicle on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard. The woman said she fell asleep at the wheel. The car overturned after striking a telephone pole, and the caller said she thought smoke was coming out of the vehicle. Deputies and the Highway Patrol controlled traffic while paramedics treated the woman.
STINSON BEACH Deputies and firefighters responded when a Highway 1 resident at 8:10 a.m. Sunday reported her neighbor was having difficulty breathing. The woman said the 53-year-old man was a diabetic and had asthma and heart problems.
BOLINAS A Brighton Avenue resident at 10:34 a.m. Sunday complained that a pickup with surfboards strapped to it was blocking her driveway. Deputies contacted a local tow-truck to remove the pickup.
BOLINAS A Brighton Avenue resident at 7:49 p.m. Saturday asked deputies to remove five unoccupied tents on Brighton Beach, three near Brighton Avenue and two near Wharf Road. The female caller said the tents were unoccupied over the weekend, but were used mid-week.
MARSHALL Deputies at 9:01 p.m. Saturday were alerted by Bodega Bay Coast Guard officials that a boat had run aground at the mouth of Tomales Bay. The Coast Guard reported two people were possibly aboard the vessel, and requested Sonoma and Marin county deputies to gather at Lawsons Landing.
STINSON BEACH A Calle Del Resaca resident at 9:32 p.m. Saturday alerted deputies that three groups of people had lit bonfires on the beach. Another resident later called to say two of the fires were very close to homes.
BOLINAS A resident in the area of Cherry Drive and Laurel Road at 9:34 p.m. Saturday complained that a woman was living in a truck with a camper shell. The caller said she wanted the woman removed from the area. A deputy found a man and woman in two vehicles, but neither was camping. The deputy advised the two to move on before bedding down.
LAGUNITAS A Chimney Lane resident at 8:56 a.m. Saturday asked deputies about a neighbor's tree that overhangs on his property. The man said the dead branches keep falling into his yard, and he is concerned they might fall and injure someone. A call to the neighbor produced no result, the man said.
PT. REYES-PETALUMA RD. Deputies and firefighters responded when a 56-year-old woman at 9:05 a.m. Saturday called deputies after falling from her horse near Union School. The woman reported "feeling dizzy."
LAGUNITAS A Sir Francis Drake Boulevard resident at 4:30 p.m. Saturday reported he heard screaming and men arguing for ten minutes at a house nearby. One man said, "stay away from me," the caller reported.
STINSON BEACH A Highway 1 resident at 7:11 p.m. Friday told deputies his friend called him to say he was coming to Stinson Beach to kill himself. The caller said his friend was a 37-year-old man from Hayward.
DILLON BEACH The manager of a campground at 9:11 p.m. Friday reported someone was lighting fireworks near the boathouse.
STINSON BEACH A man at 11:20 p.m. Friday called to report youths drinking and having a bonfire on the beach near Calle del Arroyo and Calle Del Embarcadero. A deputy found no party, but did come across "a couple enjoying a small fire." The couple put out the fire and departed.
LAGUNITAS A Sir Francis Drake Boulevard resident at 11:21 p.m. Friday notified deputies that she heard neighbors yelling and could hear things being thrown around. The woman said the fight had been happening for five minutes and that "the neighbors are a bit loopy."
DILLON BEACH A manager of a campground at 11:47 p.m. Friday reported a 23-year-old man had been hit in the head with a rock. The manager said the man would not say whether or not the wound was an accident.
STINSON BEACH Deputies were alerted at 12:24 a.m.Saturday of a large party on the beach near Walla Vista. A deputy found a couple putting out their fire, and another group standing around a fire who said they were mourning the death of country singer Johnny Cash. A deputy had the group put out the fire.
STINSON BEACH The Highway Patrol at 1:00 a.m. Saturday asked deputies for assistance when they stopped the driver of a black Chevy suspected of drunk driving. An officer arrested the man and took him to jail.
STINSON BEACH Deputies were alerted at 1:26 a.m. Saturday that a group of people had found two horses astray on Highway 1. The people were trying to take the animals back to where they thought they belonged, and wanted deputies to shine their headlights on the roadway. Deputies told the group to secure the horses and wait until the Humane Society and firefighters arrived.
BOLINAS A Mesa Road resident at 6:53 a.m. Saturday asked deputies about a neighbor's rooster that had kept him awake since 4 a.m. It was an ongoing problem, the man said.
POINT REYES STATION A man called deputies at 5:08 p.m. Friday outside of a bank to tell deputies someone had stolen $4,000 from him by writing fraudulent checks from his account.
SAN GERONIMO A Sir Francis Drake Boulevard resident at 5:20 p.m. Friday complained of a neighbor playing loud music. A deputy could not find anything amiss.
STINSON BEACH A resident at 1:23 a.m. Friday reported a party on the beach with a bonfire. When a deputy arrived, only two people were on the beach, collecting litter and getting ready to leave.
POINT REYES STATION Firefighters and medics responded when a Highway 1 resident at 7:08 a.m. last Thursday reported a 47-year-old woman, who was on dialysis for kidney failure, was foaming at the mouth and unconscious. A rescue helicopter was dispatched to transport the woman to the hospital.
VALLEY FORD A deputy at 10:04 a.m. last Thursday went to the home of a teenager who had not attended school for two weeks. The deputy learned the child was being homeschooled, and advised the mother to submit the proper paperwork with the school district.
OLEMA A store employee at 12:29 p.m. last Thursday reported that a 70-year-old woman had walked in the store after being stung by a bee while on Limantour Beach. The woman was starting to feel her throat constrict, the man said.
BOLINAS A Wharf Road resident at 2:23 p.m. last Thursday reported a man with a walker was yelling and creating a disturbance. A deputy was unable to locate the man. At 3:07 p.m., another caller reported the man had returned and was yelling at passersby. A deputy moved him along.
BOLINAS A deputy at 1:23 a.m. last Thursday inspected a bar on Wharf Road and found part of the flooring behind the bar had been removed, exposing chewed electrical wires and rotted joists. The deputy also noted the smell of mud and dead rats from under the building.
NICASIO A caller at 9:10 a.m. last Wednesday reported a man hanging around in front of the church. The man was "talking to himself and not acting right," the woman reported. The man said he was looking for a place to pray, she added. The man then drove off in a small navy blue car.
POINT REYES STATION A business owner in the Old Creamery Building at 9:32 a.m. last Wednesday reported a Federal Express mailbox had been knocked over. The disturbed mailbox appeared to be part of ongoing vandalism in the area, the man noted.
OLEMA The manager of a business at 11:04 a.m. last Wednesday reported someone had tried unsuccessfully to break into the business the night before.
INVERNESS A Drakes Way resident at 12:28 p.m. last Wednesday reported someone had fraudulently cashed a check on her account.
NICASIO Medics and the Highway Patrol responded at 3:30 p.m. last Wednesday when a 50- to 60-year-old man was injured when his bicycle collided with a car on Nicasio Valley Road. The man escaped with no serious injuries.
MUIR BEACH A Seacape Drive resident at 5:02 p.m. last Wednesday reported his sign for his business had been stolen. The sign was worth $200, the man said, and was taken sometime that day.
WOODACRE Deputies at 5:59 p.m. last Wednesday assisted medics and firefighters when a 59-year-old man reported severe back pain, nausea, and difficulty breathing.
BOLINAS A Brighton Avenue resident at 11:22 p.m. Sept. 9 said she heard what sounded like two people fighting, and thought it was coming from a gray Volkswagen van. A woman was yelling for help, the caller said.
MARSHALL Deputies and medics responded at 8:10 a.m. Sept. 9 when a youth ran his car off of Highway 1.
BOLINAS A resident at 9:08 a.m. Sept. 9 told deputies about a driver who drove recklessly past a school bus stop. The caller said the driver was a man in a pickup truck, who "flipped off" the resident and drove away.
FOREST KNOLLS A 17-year-old female employee of a business on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard at 4:11 p.m. Sept. 9 told deputies she was being harassed by a man in his 40s. The man keeps coming into the store and "creeping out" the employee, deputies were told.
BOLINAS A resident at 5:27 p.m. Sept. 9 told deputies a car almost hit her on Poplar Road. The woman said the driver was a petite woman in her 50s, who then turned onto Yucca Road, went into a house, and started having an argument with a man there.
POINT REYES STATION Sheriffs Lt. Ritch Ginnodo, commander of the West Marin Substation, has asked The Light to let readers know that a campaign to remove abandoned cars is underway in West Marin. Lt. Ginnodo said the Sheriffs Office will arrange to have abandoned vehicles towed off private property, as well as public property, if the landowner signs a release. September 11, 2003 Sheriff's Calls
SAN GERONIMO A Lagunitas School District employee at 3:34 p.m. last Wednesday notified deputies that a 14-year-old boy was causing a "ruckus" on a schoolbus "and yelling expletives at the bus driver." The woman said there were 20 other students on the bus.
BOLINAS A man on Wharf Road at 11:31 p.m. Friday complained about a second man, who was outside a bar "yelling at people, saying nasty things, and telling people he is going to bomb their cars." The caller said the second man, who uses a walker, had been there since 3 p.m. The second man, who had been drinking, had been repeatedly asked to go away but refused, the caller said.
HICKS VALLEY Firefighters at 8:55 p.m. last Thursday notified deputies that a vehicle had run off the Point Reyes-Petaluma Road on Rocky Hill, blocking the northbound lane. They also reported there was a cow on the road. Deputies notified a neighboring rancher and helped the Highway Patrol with traffic control at the accident scene. At 10:13 p.m., a deputy reported the cow had not yet been found, and a second rancher had joined the search.
POINT REYES STATION A man at 1:44 p.m. last Wednesday notified deputies that two Middle Eastern men, who were driving a moving van with Canadian license plates, had appeared "nervous and shaky" when they asked him for directions. He said they had to have him repeat his directions twice. "They didnt seem to know how to drive the semi," a deputy quoted the man as saying. A deputy reported the truck was gone when he arrived in the area.
SAN GERONIMO The superintendent of Lagunitas School District last Thursday reported that two 5th grade girls had been approached by a man driving a small, red pickup truck with a camper shell. The superintendent quoted the girls as saying that when he motioned them over to the truck, they ran off. The girls told the superintendent they remembered seeing him during the 2002-03 school year. At 2:18 p.m. the same day, the superintendent called deputies back, saying she had now talked with other students who also described similar incidents when a man tried to get them into his vehicle.
DILLON BEACH A woman at the campground notified deputies at 12:49 p.m. last Thursday that a camper in her 30s had been becoming increasingly irrational during the past 45 minutes. She described the camper as wearing sweat pants, a bikini top, and tattoos on her arms. The camper might be intoxicated, the caller said. At 4:33 p.m., another campground employee called deputies to say she was going to close in half an hour and that the camper was still there. Friends that were supposed to pick up the camper never did, the employee said, and the woman was now disturbing other campers.
SAN GERONIMO The Highway Patrol at 8:02 p.m. Friday notified deputies that the "school-zone light has been flashing for the last 24 hours." Deputies asked the Department of Public Works to deal with the continually flashing light.
BOLINAS An Ocean Avenue resident at 7:32 p.m. Friday complained that residents in her area had been working on a car all day, making "a lot of noise." She said they had a "loud compressor."
LAGUNITAS An Arroyo Road resident at 8:09 p.m. Friday told a dispatcher he could hear a man and woman screaming at each other. The dispatcher added the resident was hearing "banging noises also" but subsequently reported he "still hears yelling but does not hear banging anymore."
DILLON BEACH Deputies at 8:55 p.m. Friday received a complaint of fireworks not far from the campground.
STINSON BEACH A Calle del Occidente resident at 9:17 p.m. Friday complained that carloads of youths were arriving for a party on the beach. A deputy reported 40 to 50 youths "fled" when he arrived. The youths abandoned an untapped keg of beer, which was confiscated as evidence.
DILLON BEACH A woman on Marine View Drive at 12:11 a.m. Saturday told deputies she had received word from an employee that a group of youths were gathered by a large bonfire and being noisy. A deputy contacted the youths, who agreed to quiet down.
BOLINAS A boy in his mid-to-late teens was skateboarding on Wharf Road in front of the medical clinic when he fell and struck his head, a man notified deputies at 8:05 p.m. last Thursday. The man said the boy was "dazed" at the time he was found and had a large lump above an eye and cuts.
STINSON BEACH A man at 12:49 p.m. Friday complained that a Highway 1 resident had yelled profanities at him that day and when he was in a restaurant the night before.
FOREST KNOLLS A Juarez Avenue resident at 3:32 a.m. Friday complained that a neighbor had been playing music too loud for eight hours. A deputy noted he could hear the music when he arrived at a building complex, and he advised a new resident about the countys noise ordinance.
BOLINAS A Wharf Road resident at 9:30 p.m. last Wednesday complained that noise from a bar is "out of control" and that she is "tired of drunk people walking into her yard." A deputy gave her advice.
BOLINAS A woman at 9:55 a.m. last Wednesday told deputies that someone was standing in front of the school holding a seabird, which had been banded. A deputy found neither the bird nor the person holding it.
BOLINAS An Ocean Parkway resident at 10:20 p.m. last Wednesday reported a vandal had shattered a glass door of her house.
TOMALES A man called deputies from Highway 1 last Wednesday morning to report his $600, 15-inch chop-saw had been stolen. He said there were fresh footprints possibly left by the culprit.
POINT REYES STATION Deputies and medics responded at 5:10 p.m. last Wednesday when a 79-year-old woman on Mesa Road developed chest pains.
POINT REYES STATION A Mesa Road resident at 7:05 p.m. Sept. 2 complained about "continued harassment by local juveniles" in the neighborhood and mentioned one youth in particular. Sheriffs Lt. Ritch Ginnodo, commander of the West Marin Substation, was planning to meet with townspeople as The Light was going to press; much of the meeting was expected to deal with several destructive youths in town.
NICASIO A Lucas Valley Road resident at 8:36 a.m. Sept. 2 reported household garbage had been dumped inside a private gate. The caller asked to have a deputy check the garbage in an effort to determine the culprit. An officer gave the resident advice.
BOLINAS A San Francisco woman at 10:47 a.m. Sept. 2 called deputies from New York to complain about "a reckless surfer that almost decapitated her in the water," a deputy reported. An officer tried to call her 10 times but got no response.
INVERNESS PARK A 68-year-old man became dizzy, had trouble breathing, and developed a rash on his chest after being stung by three or four bees, deputies learned at 3:19 p.m. Sept. 2.
STINSON BEACH A woman on Sept. 2 told deputies that a second woman was contemplating suicide. She said the second woman is prone to self-mutilation, using "knives in the genital area."
BOLINAS A resident at 9:35 p.m. Monday told deputies she had invited people to her house for a religious event. One of the people who showed up, she said, had beaten her several years earlier. The woman later said the man left without incident.
DILLON BEACH An Oceana Drive resident at 9:50 p.m. Monday reported someone had broken into her house and taken jewelry while she was on vacation.
BOLINAS A caller at 10:03 p.m. Monday reported a small grassfire off of Highway 1 between the Bolinas Wye and Audubon Canyon Ranch. Sheriffs deputies and the Highway patrol provided traffic control while firefighters put out the flames.
FOREST KNOLLS A Castro Street resident at 10:37 p.m. Monday reported that someone was painting underneath the bridge near the town park. The man yelled at the person to "put his hands up," but the second man instead ran down the creek, a deputy quoted the man as saying. The caller said he was chasing the second man, but a deputy advised the man to wait until he arrived.
STINSON BEACH A Calle Del Occidente resident at 11:31 p.m. Monday complained that youths were having a bonfire on the beach. The caller said it was very windy and there were a lot of sparks blowing around. A deputy later reported the bonfire had been put out.
WOODACRE A Central Avenue resident at 12:25 a.m. Tuesday reported that 100 DVDs had been taken from his home sometime in the last three hours.
POINT REYES STATION The school principal Tuesday morning reported someone had defecated on parts of the playground.
NICASIO A Nicasio Valley Road resident at 8:03 a.m. Monday reported that he had found tools strewn across the road just south of the town square. The man said he was holding them at his worksite. An Inverness Park resident called at 9:37 a.m. to report that he was missing a toolbox from the back of his truck. A deputy told the man his tools had been found on the road in Nicasio. The officer helped arrange for the tools to be returned.
POINT REYES STATION A Mesa Road resident at 8:48 a.m. Monday asked deputies what to do about a neighbors rooster that keeps her up at night.
NICASIO A Nicasio resident at 9:33 a.m. asked about the arrest of his brother. A deputy gave him advice.
NICASIO Deputies and medics responded at 12:35 p.m. Monday when a 41-year-old man fell 10 to 15 feet off of a roof. The man landed on his back and neck in a ditch, and was reported to be "very dizzy" and without much sensation. However, his legs were tingling.
OLEMA A caller on the Vedanta property at 7:03 p.m. Sunday reported that two men appeared to be trespassing in the woods. When a deputy arrived on scene, he was unable to locate the two trespassers.
MUIR BEACH A Pacific Way resident at 7:29 p.m. Sunday reported that his ex-girlfriend was holding a beer bottle and "banging on doors and windows" of his home. The resident later said he was refusing to let her in, but the woman, who is in her early 40s, was still outside the front door.
TOMALES A Highway 1 resident at 10:56 p.m. Sunday called to say someone had stolen tools from the home he was working on. The man said some of the homeowners tools were missing. A deputy gave the man advice and took a list of the items taken.
NATIONAL SEASHORE A Pierce Point Road resident at 12 a.m. Monday reported that someone wearing a baseball cap was on a public dock in front of her house. The woman said the person, who had a flashlight, walked to the end of the dock carrying a large backpack. While the woman was at her back door, the person waved at her, she said.
DILLON BEACH A woman on Marine View Drive complained at 9:14 a.m. Sunday that 12 to 15 adults in the campground were drunk and disorderly, "lingering and abusive." She said she had asked the group to leave 30 minutes earlier but that they had not moved yet. The woman said shed had to deal with the loud group all night.
BOLINAS A caller on Wharf Road at 11:40 a.m. Sunday told deputies a 60-year-old man was slumped over his steering wheel. A deputy arrested the man on charges of public drunkenness.
MARSHALL A citizen on Marshall-Petaluma Road at 2:30 p.m. Sunday flagged down a passing patrolcar to report a motorcyclist had crashed. The deputy later reported the motorcyclist was uninjured.
LAGUNITAS A Lagunitas resident at 12:15 a.m. Sunday complained about a party on Chaparro Avenue. A deputy contacted the hostess, who said she would "turn down the music and have the party shut down soon."
BOLINAS Deputies at 2:28 a.m. Sunday received a report that some young adults were having a party on Mesa Road. When a deputy arrived on scene, he found no one but extinguished a small campfire left behind.
OLEMA A caller at 4:11 p.m. Saturday complained that someone had left the campground without paying.
NICASIO A Nicasio woman at 3:38 p.m. Saturday notified deputies that her 14-year-old son had lit the side of their house on fire. The woman reported the fire was out, and the son had run off. She said her husband in a pickup truck was looking for the boy.
STINSON BEACH A caller from a theatrical troupe at 3:52 p.m. Saturday reported that a nighttime burglar had broken into an audio booth and stolen a sound mixer and CD player.
DOGTOWN Deputies at 5:23 p.m. Saturday received a report of a single-vehicle accident on Highway 1. The vehicle was abandoned when a deputy arrived.
POINT REYES STATION A caller at 6:28 p.m. Saturday complained that youths on the Mesa were harassing people, egging houses, and starting fireworks. The caller said her daughter had just been "flipped off" and one of them had called her by a racist epithet. The caller asked for advice on how to deal with the youths.
POINT REYES STATION Sheriffs Lt. Ritch Ginnodo, commander of the West Marin Substation, has asked The Light to let readers know that a campaign to remove abandoned cars is underway in West Marin. Lt. Ginnodo said the Sheriffs Office will arrange to have abandoned vehicles towed off private property, as well as public property, if the landowner signs a release. STINSON BEACH A bartender at 2:33 a.m. Friday reported three minors were drinking at the bar, two inside and one outside. Deputies were told that one of the juveniles had reached over the bar and stolen a bottle of liquor when the bartender wasnt looking.
INVERNESS PARK A deputy on Portola Avenue at 9:48 p.m. Saturday arrested a man on a warrant.
POINT REYES STATION The lieutenant in command of the sheriffs substation at 8:32 p.m. Monday reported that someone who found a purse had dropped it off at the substation.
BOLINAS A resident at 8:55 p.m. Monday complained of people yelling and arguing in the vicinity of Elm Road and Overlook Drive. The small crowd of men and women had been talking about "killing each other," he said.
INVERNESS A Douglass Drive resident at 10:02 p.m. Monday reported her elderly neighbor had been yelling for help for five minutes. She said her husband had gone to the mans house but got no response when he knocked on the door. However, he could hear the elderly man yelling, "Im stuck inside."
BOLINAS Deputies at 10:21 p.m. Monday received word that a vehicle had run off Highway 1 near the Wye and into Bolinas Lagoon.
BOLINAS A deputy at 2 a.m. Tuesday found two drunken men asleep in a gray Nissan pickup truck parked at Alder Road and Ocean Parkway. He took them to a detoxification center.
STINSON BEACH A deputy took a man on Arenal Avenue into custody at 7:56 a.m. Monday when he found the man banging his head against the side of a blue-and-white van. "He stated he wanted to hurt himself," the officer reported. The deputy took the man to the county crisis center.
DOGTOWN A deputy at 8:50 a.m. Monday arrested two people on warrants. The officer also had their car towed away.
BOLINAS A Wharf Road resident at 12:45 p.m. Sunday said shed had a dispute with her husband and that he had grabbed her arm and thrown her down the stairs. She was uninjured but said he had also thrown her personal property outside. She then hung up. When a deputy spoke to her husband, he claimed that she had broken his personal property.
POINT REYES STATION A bartender at 12:55 p.m. Monday reported a man in his late 40s had stolen liquor from the bar. The bartender said the man, who was missing a front tooth, may have crawled into a hole in the Grandi Building. Deputies could not find the man but did recover the bottle of liquor.
BOLINAS A Wharf Road resident at 2:05 p.m. Monday told deputies that he and his wife had been arrested the previous day, and when he returned to his home, their doors were open, and items were missing. He said he would like to know if any items were taken by officers so he can file a report. A deputy gave him advice.
BOLINAS An unlicensed, teenaged motorist driving a red Plymouth collided with a parked vehicle on Park Avenue. A deputy contacted the parents of the driver and arranged for an exchange of information with the parked vehicles owner. Both households said they "will work it out," the deputy reported.
INVERNESS A man at 2:52 p.m. Monday reported that numerous cars were illegally parked on Camino del Mar.
HAGMAIER POND A man at 3:26 p.m. Monday reported he and his girlfriend had been at the clothing-optional swimming hole when a man sat down next to them and "kept staring" at them. He said they then moved, but the man, who was in his 30s and balding, followed them to their new spot. The caller said they then confronted the man and left the Olema Valley.
POINT REYES STATION A merchant at 5:39 p.m. Monday reported a homeless man was passed out on his patio. When a deputy arrived, the man was "cooperative and agreed to leave," the officer said.
SAMUEL TAYLOR PARK A man at 5:33 p.m. Monday reported a second man had stolen money from him about 10:30 a.m. The caller said it happened when he left his backpack on the trunk of his car and it fell off when he drove away.
SAN GERONIMO A landlord on Tamarack Road at 6:37 p.m. Monday reported that a woman who rents from him had found a marijuana plant growing on his property. The landlord said there are two tenants on the property and that he "has an idea" who was growing the plant. The female tenant said she would stand by for an officer to pick up the pot.
STINSON BEACH A Francisco Patio resident at 7:23 p.m. Sunday complained about a loud band in the neighborhood. A second caller on Alameda Patio also said the "music was too loud," a deputy reported. The second caller said the music was coming from a party with a live band on the beach, and he asked to have the music stopped. The deputy subsequently reported, "Done."
BOLINAS A Brighton Avenue resident at 8:15 p.m. Sunday complained about three girls and two boys drinking alcohol at Brighton and Park avenues and yelling obscenities.
BOLINAS A resident at 9:34 p.m. Sunday notified deputies he could hear teenagers apparently fighting at Brighton and Park avenues. He said he couldnt see them but could hear their screaming. He said some of what he could hear "sounds like punching."
POINT REYES STATION A Mesa Road resident at 9:57 p.m. Saturday reported that vandals had come onto his property 10 minutes earlier and thrown eggs against his door and wall. He said some youths in the area have been harassing other kids. At 10:48 p.m., a neighbor reported vandals had thrown an egg against her house 20 minutes earlier. She said she didnt see who did it by has a "good idea." At 11:52 p.m., a man reported that vandals had used five orange cones to block Mesa Road at Highway 1. A deputy removed the cones. Half an hour later at 12:32 a.m. Sunday, a third Mesa Road resident reported hearing gunshots a few hours earlier. She noted there "has been a lot of juveniles in the area knocking on doors and egging houses." At 10:09 p.m. she called back to say that someone had thrown fireworks at her house and that teenagers may have entered her house. She said that although the fireworks were smoking, they did not start any fires. The resident added that there had been fireworks in the neighborhood for five nights.
CHILENO VALLEY A Wilson Hill Road resident at 11:38 p.m. Sunday notified deputies that he had been sleeping with his kids in a tent in their yard when he heard voices on his property. He said four to six teenagers might be on his land.
STINSON BEACH A man at 8:33 a.m. Sunday called deputies from Calle del Occidente to report two surfboards each worth $550 had been stolen off the roof of his car during the night. At 10:43 a.m., a woman on Seadrift Road reported two surfboards together worth $1,500 had been stolen off the roof of her car during the night.
INVERNESS An Inverness Way resident at 2:05 p.m. Sunday told deputies that in light of neighborhood vandalism, he wanted to know what he is allowed to do to protect his property especially if the vandals are minors.
LAGUNITAS A resident at 4:25 p.m. Sunday said that his 15-year-old son, who is scheduled to go on probation next week on a marijuana charge, had left home without parental permission. The father said the son had been found high at a friends house. A deputy gave her advice.
STINSON BEACH A woman at 8:06 p.m. Saturday reported 12 men and women with an illegal campfire were drinking on the beach. A deputy found 10 campfires with minors drinking at three of them.
BOLINAS A Brighton Avenue resident at 10:07 p.m. Saturday told deputies there had been fireworks on the beach for 15 minutes but that now they had stopped.
NICASIO A man at 1 a.m. Sunday drove to a house to pick up his 24-year-old wife and found that she and the homeowner had been drinking and had gotten into a quarrel. When he tried to intervene, the homeowner told him to leave, he said, adding that his wife "ran off" and that he was "not sure where" she was.
BOLINAS A Wharf Road resident at 1:45 a.m. Sunday asked a deputy to have guests at an inn take their music indoors. The guests agreed to do so.
BOLINAS The Highway Patrol on Wharf Road at 2:15 a.m. Sunday arrested a man, who works downtown, on charges of drunk driving.
POINT REYES STATION A Highway 1 resident at 10:36 a.m. last Thursday reported her credit card was being used fraudulently. A deputy gave her advice.
INVERNESS A Via de La Vista resident at 1:40 p.m. last Thursday notified deputies he was receiving unwanted mail from a prison inmate. A deputy took a fraud report.
INVERNESS A Sir Francis Drake Boulevard resident at 4:22 p.m. last Thursday asked deputies for advice about barbecue equipment being left on the beach. A deputy gave him advice.
TOMALES A resident at 4:26 p.m. last Thursday asked deputies for advice regarding a dispute between her landlord and an ex-tenant. The deputy gave her advice.
WOODACRE A man at 11:19 p.m. last Wednesday complained that a parked van was blocking Carson Road. A deputy ticketed the vehicle.
BOLINAS Deputies at 12:26 a.m. last Thursday asked the Highway Patrol to test the sobriety of a man in a pickup truck on Wharf Road. A deputy reported the man wanted to drive, was "very intoxicated," and was blocking the roadway. A CHP officer arrested the man on charges of drunk driving.
BOLINAS A deputy at 4:03 a.m. last Wednesday shot a deer, which had been struck by traffic on Highway 1, to put it out of its misery.
WOODACRE A Rock Ridge Road resident at 9:01 a.m. last Wednesday told deputies that family photos had been stolen from her carport.
BOLINAS A man at 9:57 a.m. last Wednesday called deputies from Olema-Bolinas Road to complain that a kayaker was harassing seals in Bolinas Lagoon. Deputies found nothing amiss.
POINT REYES STATION The Highway Patrol at 11:48 a.m. last Wednesday asked deputies to help control traffic on Highway 1 following a vehicle accident north of Cypress Road. The vehicle plunged 50 feet down a ravine, and while it was extricated, the CHP was forced to shut the highway.
POINT REYES STATION Deputies and medics responded at 2:32 p.m. last Wednesday when a 43-year-old woman on Highway 1 reported she was suffering abdominal pain and was vomiting.
STINSON BEACH A Neiman Marcus department store notified a Belvedere Avenue woman that someone was fraudulently using her credit card, she told deputies at 8:33 p.m. Aug. 26.
POINT REYES STATION A woman at 8:33 p.m. Aug. 26 called to say she had been camping at Van Damme State Park in Mendocino County with her boyfriend the night before. That morning, she said, her boyfriend had started bicycling southbound on Highway 1, and she was supposed to pick him up when she caught up with him. However, she said, she got all the way to Point Reyes Station and never passed him. The woman called later to say her boyfriend "was at work and is heading home."
STINSON BEACH A woman at 11:38 p.m. Aug. 26 reported people were pounding on her cabin door. They were yelling at her that it was their cabin for the week and that she needed to leave, she said. The woman told them that they must have double-booked the cabin, but they kept on yelling at her, she informed deputies.
BOLINAS A deputy at 12:10 a.m. last Wednesday reported while his patrolcar was parked on Brighton Avenue, one of its windows was smashed. At the time, the deputy was talking with some youths who had built an illegal bonfire on the beach. The deputy noted the sideview mirror of another deputys patrolcar had been removed earlier that day while it was parked on Wharf Road. Both the broken window and stolen sideview mirror were replaced.
POINT REYES STATION Deputies and Highway Patrol officers responded at 8:52 a.m. Aug. 26 when a construction trailer overturned over on the levee road near White House Pool. The trailer temporarily blocked one lane.
STINSON BEACH A Calle Del Mar resident at 9:38 a.m. Aug. 26 complained that construction workers had closed the street, blocking traffic and forcing drivers to dangerously reverse direction on a one-way street. When a deputy arrived, he reported the crews had finished paving the road and that vehicles could get through.
BOLINAS An Olema-Bolinas Road resident at 10:37 a.m. Aug. 26 told deputies she believed a guest had stolen a cellphone and three cameras from her. The woman added that she was now receiving a monthly bill for charges on the cellphone.
NICASIO Deputies and medics were summoned at 2:29 p.m. Aug. 26 to help a 73-year-old Lucas Valley Road woman with a dislocated hip.
FALLON A Fallon-Two Rock Road rancher complained that a worker was refusing to leave and take his chickens with him. The caller reported she finally got rid of the chickens.
