August 28, 2003 Sheriff's Calls

BOLINAS – A resident at 12:30 a.m. Saturday complained to deputies that people in tents were illegally camping on the beach. He said they became confrontational when he asked them to leave. The man told officers he would have ignored the people but one camper had a dog tied to the bumper of his VW, and the "little yapper" was keeping him awake. A deputy told the people that county law prohibits weekend camping on the beach during the summer, and they left. One man, however, said he had been hanging out around town for more than a month. The deputy told him to find other lodgings and not to threaten local residents.

FOREST KNOLLS – Deputies and medics were summoned at 7:46 p.m. Monday when a 53-year-old woman took an apparent overdose of medication. Her husband said she had taken several pills, but he didn’t know what kind. He added that his wife, who was sweating profusely, had been depressed recently.

LAGUNITAS – A deputy on Barranca Road at 8:13 p.m. Monday served a tenant with an order to move immediately.

MUIR BEACH – A resident at 9:25 p.m. Monday told deputies she had heard three motorcyclists in a "strange conversation, talking about drugs, illegal weapons, and violence." She said the trio, a woman "who has a lot of tattoos" and two men, was stopped on two motorcycles in the vicinity of Pacific Way.

STINSON BEACH – A man on Highway 1 at 9:36 p.m. Monday told deputies he’d had a quarrel with his 47-year-old girlfriend, and she’d walked off and never returned. He added that she is from Vallejo and doesn’t know anybody in town.

LAGUNITAS – A Lagunitas Road man at 10:18 p.m. Monday complained about people sleeping in a pickup truck with a camper shell. A deputy moved them along.

BOLINAS – A man at Brighton Avenue and Wharf Road at 11:30 p.m. Monday asked a deputy to take him to the county crisis unit. En route to Marin General Hospital, the man said "he cannot control voices in his head urging him to hurt himself," the deputy reported.

SAMUEL P. TAYLOR PARK – Medics and a deputy responded when a 17-year-old boy passed out for about 10 seconds after smoking marijuana and drinking a bottle cough syrup. The officer called the boys’ parents.

INVERNESS – A woman at 7:50 a.m. Monday called deputies from Sir Francis Drake Boulevard to complain that she was trying to move out of her home, and the owner was trying to keep her cats. A deputy stood by while she moved out.

INVERNESS PARK – A Vallejo Avenue resident at 9:15 a.m. Monday reported a burglar had stolen a $2,000 generator from him.

SAN GERONIMO – A Meadow Way resident at 10:37 a.m. Monday notified deputies she had found 20 shotgun shells in a closet and wanted to get rid of them. A deputy picked them up for destruction.

BOLINAS – A woman on Brighton Avenue at 11:22 a.m. Monday complained about loud music coming from parked cars.

LAGUNITAS – A Sir Francis Drake Boulevard resident at 12:02 p.m. Monday notified deputies that her ex-boyfriend, 45, was vandalizing her current boyfriend’s truck with spray paint. She said he was possibly drunk or high. A "physical disturbance" then broke out between her current boyfriend and her ex-boyfriend, who was brandishing a large log. The ex-boyfriend was arrested, a deputy reported.

NICASIO – A Nicasio Valley Road resident at 4:37 p.m. Monday told deputies her 23-year-old son, who is taking psychiatric medication, was being verbally abusive to her. The son returned at 6:22 p.m., but other family members dealt with him.

STINSON BEACH – A woman at 7:58 p.m. Sunday reported that while her vehicle was parked on Panoramic Highway, a vandal smashed a window but took nothing.

PLATFORM BRIDGE – A deputy at 8:29 p.m. Sunday reported a Ford pickup truck had been abandoned upside down in Papermill Creek. The deputy said it would be towed out Monday.

WOODACRE – A Sir Francis Drake Boulevard resident at 9:05 p.m. Sunday reported his wife had lost her purse, which included her Green Card, around the golf course.

LAGUNITAS – A resident at 10:08 p.m. Sunday complained about loud music in the vicinity of Arroyo and Barranca roads. The host, a 45-year-old man, said he was just then shutting down a live band.

POINT REYES STATION – A diabetic woman, 41, had a seizure, causing her difficulty in breathing. However, she subsequently reported she felt fine.

INVERNESS – An Inverness Way resident at 10:35 p.m. Sunday reported hearing something crash against his window. He told deputies he saw people running from his deck and discovered two youths near a white van parked in front of his house. When he confronted them, they drove off, the resident said.

SAN GERONIMO – A woman at 1:02 a.m. Monday complained about "lots of noise" coming from two vans and two large trucks in a parking lot in the vicinity of Sir Francis Drake Boulevard and Nicasio Valley Road. A deputy found the noise was coming from a movie crew packing up for the night.

MUIR BEACH – Deputies received a call at 8:22 a.m. Sunday that five gunshots had been heard along Muir Woods Road. An officer could not find anyone shooting.

WOODACRE – A man at 1:27 p.m. Friday said the county has a conservatorship over his son and that the son’s female caregiver had tried to take his son from him. At 9:11 p.m. he complained that she had assaulted his son and that he feared for his own safety. The woman, however, claimed that the father had assaulted her. When her complaint was lodged on Sunday, deputies described her as "very uncooperative."

BOLINAS – A caller at 11:29 a.m. Sunday complained there were seven illegally parked cars in the vicinity of Brighton Avenue. A deputy found one and ticketed it.

STINSON BEACH – A resident at 3:01 p.m. Sunday told deputies there was a number of illegally parked vehicles on Calle del Arroyo. A deputy wrote several tickets.

BOLINAS – A resident at 4:26 p.m. Sunday complained there was a number of vehicles illegally parked on Park Avenue. A deputy ticketed two.

POINT REYES STATION – A Highway 1 resident at 7:32 p.m. Saturday complained about loud music coming from a home on Mañana Way. She soon called back to say the music had gotten louder. A second person then called to complain the music was "very loud." A deputy concluded a band at a wedding reception was too loud, and the group agreed to stop playing.

INVERNESS PARK – A Portola Avenue resident at 9:48 p.m. Saturday said she had been staying in Sacramento and a friend had been housesitting for her. When she returned home, she said, she found a 31-year-old man sleeping on her couch. She told officers the man was the son of her partner and that he was supposed to merely pick up a tent and leave.

INVERNESS – An Inverness Way resident at 10:57 p.m. Saturday complained about a loud party on her street. Instead of a party, a deputy found another resident "listening to mellow music, enjoying his campfire, and looking at the stars and the Milky Way." He agreed to turn his mellow music down, the deputy added.

SAN GERONIMO – Deputies at 11:53 p.m. Saturday received a report that a 20-year-old, hypoglycemic woman had begun "throwing things" when the amount of sugar in her bloodstream got out of balance.

STINSON BEACH – A deputy at 1:32 a.m. Sunday took a drunk girl into custody. The girl, who claimed to be 21 but was actually 17, was released to her father.

INVERNESS PARK – A Sir Francis Drake Boulevard resident at 12:34 a.m. last Thursday reported that his father was drunk. After evaluating the man, a deputy released the father to his son.

OLEMA – A merchant at 10:06 a.m. Saturday reported a $600 chainsaw had been stolen from a storage area.

BOLINAS – Deputies at 1:08 p.m. Saturday received a report of several people drinking and yelling outside the community center. A deputy found about 10 people on hand, abated the disturbance, and arrested one woman on charges of public drunkenness.

BOLINAS – A man on Ocean Parkway at 2:35 p.m. Saturday reported that a tree being cut down had brought down powerlines with it.

STINSON BEACH –A Calle del Mar resident at 8:08 p.m. Friday complained about cars parked on her property. A deputy gave her advice and had the cars moved.

BOLINAS – A Brighton Avenue woman at 8:09 p.m. Friday complained about people camping on the beach. A deputy found only one camper, whom he moved along, and three unoccupied tents.

FOUR CORNERS – A deputy at 9:26 p.m. Friday shot a deer, which had been injured in traffic, to put it out of its misery.

MARSHALL – A woman at 10:39 p.m. Friday reported there were two loose, black cows on Highway 1. A deputy tried to contact the owner.

DILLON BEACH – A Cypress Avenue man at 12:06 a.m. Saturday complained there had been fireworks on the beach for three hours. All was quiet when a deputy arrived.

MARSHALL – A Marshall-Petaluma Road resident at 12:19 a.m. Saturday said she had been harassed for three nights by a man and woman calling her around midnight and asking for Joe or Eric. They kept calling even though she told them they have the wrong number, she said. The woman added she had received two calls already that night.

DILLON BEACH – A Cypress Avenue resident reported a 16-year-old girl had drunk so much she might be suffering from alcohol poisoning. Medics tried to contact her father.

PT. REYES-PETALUMA ROAD – Deputies at 8:34 a.m. Friday received a report of a non-injury traffic accident.

MARSHALL – A Highway 1 resident at 9:23 a.m. Friday asked for advice in dealing with an anchor-out. The resident said the man lives on a 45-foot boat and that he and women with him "make lots of noise" when they come ashore near his house. A deputy gave him advice.

SAN GERONIMO – A woman at 10:50 a.m. Friday reported seeing a man masturbating in the back seat of a black Honda Civic parked along Sir Francis Drake Boulevard. She said the man got out of his car "in a threatening manner" and attempted to talk with her.

OLEMA – An innkeeper at 5:08 p.m. Friday reported receiving a threatening letter from an anonymous writer. The writer claimed 30 other innkeepers in West Marin were going to "leave dead-animal carcasses within scent range" of his inn.

POINT REYES STATION – A deputy at 8:29 p.m. last Thursday reported there was a cow in the intersection of Highway 1 and Point Reyes-Petaluma Road. Another officer could not find it.

POINT REYES STATION – A deputy at 10:46 p.m. last Thursday pulled over a blue sedan on Highway 1 for speeding. The officer concluded the driver was intoxicated and turned him over to the Highway Patrol, which arrested him on drunk-driving charges.

BOLINAS – A resident at 9:42 a.m. last Thursday complained that an older man had lived in a van parked on Wharf Road for a week. He said the man had parties in his van and urinated out the door.

POINT REYES STATION – A Highway 1 resident at 11:42 a.m. last Thursday reported returning home from a vacation and finding motorcycle parts in her yard. She asked deputies if there had been a traffic accident there and received advice.

POINT REYES STATION – A Highway 1 merchant at 12:31 last Thursday reported receiving a threatening letter. The writer was threatening to sue her for writing letters to the editor, she said.

POINT REYES STATION – Deputies were notified at 1:17 p.m. last Thursday that a cell phone had been found on A Street.

OLEMA – A merchant at 4:32 p.m. last Thursday complained about a beat-up Chevrolet truck parked next to her Highway 1 business. A deputy checked the truck’s registration, found it belonged to a man in San Rafael, and called him. The man told the officer his son had taken the pickup truck and "ripped it up."

TOMALES – Deputies and firefighters responded at 9:57 p.m. last Wednesday when a vehicle overturned at Highway 1 and Tomales-Petaluma Road, blocking traffic. No one was hurt.

POINT REYES STATION – After the sheriff’s substation commander at 2:33 p.m. last Wednesday noticed a gray Volvo on A Street, the driver was arrested on drunk-driving charges.

POINT REYES STATION – A Highway 1 merchant at 2:44 p.m. last Wednesday reported a customer had driven off in a Toyota Corolla without paying for his purchase. A deputy found the car on Mesa Road, and the driver said he had paid. No charges have been filed.

BOLINAS – A woman at 7:20 p.m. Aug. 19 complained that a drunk man in his 60s and using a walker was yelling on Wharf Road. A second caller told deputies, "He has been carrying on like this for 48 hours." The man was now in a van, the second caller said.

TWO ROCK – A Dillon Beach resident at 3:37 a.m. last Wednesday reported a roll of carpet was lying across Tomales-Petaluma Road 150 yards west of Chileno Valley Road. The man said he believes a nearby resident puts objects in the road so that motorists will have to slow down. He described the situation as "an ongoing problem."

BOLINAS – A deaf man, who had suffered facial injuries in a fight, came off the beach early Aug. 19, a woman told deputies at 7:37 a.m. She said she did not know when the fight had occurred.

SAN GERONIMO – A Sylvestris Drive resident at 8:20 a.m. Aug. 19 reported finding one of his cats dead on his front porch. The cat was bleeding from its mouth, he said. The man added that his other two cats were missing and that a neighbor had posted a sign for four missing cats. Eventually the caller’s other two cats returned home.

DILLON BEACH – A man at 2:09 p.m. Aug. 19 told deputies that after a boat owner left his boat on the man’s property six weeks, he called the owner and asked him to remove the boat. The man added that when he looked inside the boat, there were lots of power tools, looking like they might have been stolen.

POINT REYES STATION – Sheriff’s Lt. Ritch Ginnodo, commander of the West Marin Substation, has asked The Light to let readers know that a campaign to remove abandoned cars is underway in West Marin. Lt. Ginnodo said the Sheriff’s Office will arrange to have abandoned vehicles towed off private property, as well as public property, if the landowner signs a release. The substation’s phone number is 663-1151.

 

August 21, 2003 Sheriff's Calls

TOMALES – Deputies and medics responded at 1:38 a.m. to Valley Street when a 79-year-old resident had trouble breathing. Deputies said the woman had a history of respiratory problems.

BOLINAS – A West Marin deputy, as a courtesy to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office, took a report from a woman whose wallet identification, credit cards, and $100 in cash were stolen in Malibu.

MUIR BEACH – The Highway Patrol at 9:37 a.m. Monday received a report that a woman in a white Saturn at Highway 1 and Pacific Way was having an allergic attack. What she was allergic to was never determined because her car was never found.

FOREST KNOLLS – A Resaca Avenue resident at 12:11 p.m. Monday reported she is continuing to receive harassing phone calls from a telemarketer.

BOLINAS – A man on Wharf Road at 4:04 p.m. Monday notified deputies that a dog was locked in a parked car, and although the day was hot, the windows were rolled up. He said the dog was barking. A deputy subsequently reported the owner had been located and the dog "cared for."

STINSON BEACH – A man at 7:07 p.m. Sunday reported that a rock climber practicing on the huge boulders at Red Rock nude beach had fallen 40 feet and injured her back. The woman was supposedly secured with a safety rope when the fall occurred.

STINSON BEACH – A Calle de la Ribera resident at 9:26 p.m. Sunday complained about a fire on the beach near her house. Stinson firefighters directed people to put out three bonfires.

BOLINAS – A Wharf Road resident at 11:52 p.m. Sunday reported someone had been "banging" on the door downstairs. When he went to look, however, the person was gone. The resident added that "the knocking was very aggressive." A deputy could not find the person who did the knocking.

MUIR BEACH – A Sunset Way resident at 2:01 p.m. Sunday complained that when his landlord’s sister-in-law cleaned the house, she threw away items belonging to him. He told deputies he wanted to file a trespassing complaint. A deputy, however, said there had been no trespassing but possibly a violation of his lease.

FOREST KNOLLS – A counselor reported a 26-year-old woman was having delusions and needed to go to the county crisis unit.

BOLINAS – A resident at 8:29 p.m. Saturday complained about a loud party with a live band in the vicinity of Alder and Hawthorn roads. A deputy contacted the hostess.

POINT REYES STATION – Two men about 8:30 p.m. independently called deputies to complain about loud music from the Red Barn, saying they wanted it stopped. A deputy contacted the host of a birthday party, and he agreed to close the doors and cut down on the music.

INVERNESS – A Ford ran into a ditch along Sir Francis Drake Boulevard north of downtown. There were no injuries, but the car had to be towed out of the ditch.

NICASIO – A Nicasio Valley Road resident at 8:52 p.m. Saturday complained that numerous people and their cars were stopped along the Point Reyes-Petaluma Road near the Nicasio Reservoir dam. He said they were creating a traffic hazard. The group was leaving when a deputy arrived.

MUIR BEACH – The Highway Patrol at 10:57 p.m. Saturday reported that a black Ford, which was stalled along Highway 1, was partially blocking traffic.

BOLINAS – A resident at 11:44 p.m. Saturday complained about a bonfire with 75 people around it on the beach.

WOODACRE – A San Geronimo Valley Drive resident at 1:26 a.m. Sunday reported four or five youths, who were in a parking lot with miscellaneous trucks, were drinking and littering. A juvenile party was breaking up when a deputy arrived.

NICASIO – County firefighters at 8:43 a.m. Saturday reported a bicyclist had crashed on Nicasio Valley Road. The bicyclist’s injuries were minor.

INVERNESS PARK – A caller at 11:08 a.m. Saturday reported two cows were lying down alongside Sir Francis Drake Boulevard. A deputy could not find them.

FOREST KNOLLS – A resident in the vicinity of Guadalupe Place and Montezuma Avenue at 12:25 p.m. Saturday complained that two men in the town park were very drunk and yelling. A deputy checked on the pair and found that one of them was wanted on two Sonoma County warrants for failure to appear in court to face trial. He was arrested.

FOREST KNOLLS – The Department of Public Works at 3:07 p.m. Friday notified deputies that a man, who had been told by firefighters to cut back vegetation around his house, was using a chainsaw to also cut vegetation in San Geronimo Creek. Deputies were told his clearing weeds all through the creek violated the county’s stormwater ordinance. At 3:32 p.m. Saturday, a woman said the man was again illegally cutting foliage in the creek although a deputy a day earlier had told him to stop. Deputies said residents should notify the state Department of Fish and Game.

DILLON BEACH – Deputies and medics were summoned to Marine View Drive at 4:13 p.m. Saturday when a 21-year-old man broke his leg near the ankle while skimboarding. Deputies were told a nurse was on the scene and that a four-wheel-drive ambulance would be needed to cross the sand to reach the victim.

TOMALES – A Highway 1 resident at 5:06 p.m. Saturday reported hearing gunshots north of downtown for 30 minutes. All was quiet when a deputy arrived.

BOLINAS – A man on Wharf Road at 5:14 p.m. Saturday complained that a man in his 50s swam naked across the Bolinas Lagoon Channel and emerged on Bolinas Beach. However, people on the beach told a deputy "the naked [man] had been gone for approximately three hours."

POINT REYES STATION – Deputies and medics responded at 5:55 p.m. Saturday when a Highway 1 resident experienced shortness of breath. Officers were told the 67-year-old woman has a history of lung cancer and emphysema.

BOLINAS – A Brighton Avenue resident at 6:32 p.m. Saturday told deputies a group of "possible gang members" were on the beach getting ready to build a fire. A second man, who also complained to deputies, sad the group had set up a sound system and "it is blasting." He added that rowdies had been on the beach throughout the previous night, setting off bottle rockets.

LAGUNITAS – A Lagunitas Road resident at 7:51 p.m. Friday told deputies that when he returned home, he found a man in a blue sleeping bag lying on the ground and reading a magazine. The resident asked to have the camper removed from his property. A deputy did so.

WOODACRE – A father at 8:42 p.m. Friday reported that his 17-year-old son, who is already on probation, had been writing checks on the father’s bank account.

BOLINAS – A Terrace Avenue resident at 10:03 p.m. Friday called deputies to complain about teenagers on the beach setting off fireworks. A dispatcher reported being able to hear the fireworks in the background of the phone call. Later, a second man also complained about the fireworks.

POINT REYES STATION – A deputy on Highway 1 at 10:30 p.m. Friday cited a motorist on charges of driving with a suspended license.

DILLON BEACH – A Beach Avenue resident at 11:16 p.m. Friday told deputies with irony that she got into a "good verbal disturbance" when she tried to quiet 25 people with a "loud stereo," an officer quoted her as saying. The noise was abated when a deputy arrived.

POINT REYES STATION – Two men about 11:15 p.m. Friday independently reported hearing a vehicle accident on Highway 1 about two miles north of downtown. The first man noted the apparent crash had caused his lights to flicker, suggesting a vehicle had hit a power pole. The second man said the motorist was hurt. Power lines had not fallen to the ground, but a utility pole was sheared off, he said.

OLEMA – The Humane Society at 7:50 a.m. Friday was forced to kill a deer via an injection after the animal became entangled in a volleyball net. The deer suffered "severe injuries" in trying to free itself, a deputy noted.

MUIR BEACH – Medics and rangers responded when a man at 1:42 p.m. Friday reported a woman had suffered a deep gash on her leg while hiking on the Coastal Fire Road.

WOODACRE – An owner of land on Pine Avenue at 5:09 p.m. Friday told deputies she had learned that a female squatter was on the landlord’s property and cutting her trees. The squatter was gone when a deputy arrived.

FOREST KNOLLS – A man at 10:14 p.m. last Thursday told deputies a "pervert" in a bar had been saying "nasty things" to the man’s girlfriend. The second man told deputies he had spoken only about "conduct in the area." He said his intention was not to confront anyone, and he apologized.

BOLINAS – A Brighton Avenue resident at 1:45 a.m. Friday complained about a party, including a bonfire, on the beach. He said he’d asked them to leave an hour earlier, and they had said they would but didn’t. A deputy who responded found a party of adults. At his direction, they put out their fire and left.

FALLON – A deputy at 11:16 a.m. last Thursday found a man sleeping beside the driveway of a ranch at Highway 1 and Whitaker Bluff Road. The man said he was just resting after riding a bicycle from Fairfax. The officer checked the bicyclist’s identification, which showed he had served prison time in Arizona. However, additional checking determined the bicyclist is not now on parole. Nor is he wanted on any warrants.

MUIR BEACH – A Seacape Drive resident at 10:42 a.m. last Thursday notified deputies that during the night a burglar had broken the rear window of his car and had stolen a computer. He added that the tool used to break the window was still in the car.

MARSHALL – Medics responded at 4:54 p.m. last Thursday when a Highway 1 resident, 84, fell and hit his head on a rock, causing it to bleed. The man was transported to a hospital by ambulance.

WOODACRE – A Park Street resident at 6:09 p.m. last Thursday notified deputies his six-year-old daughter had fallen backwards off a bench and had hit her head on a hardwood floor. He said she briefly lost control of her body and doesn’t remember the fall.

SAN GERONIMO – A Tamarack Road resident at 9:21 p.m. last Wednesday told a deputy she wanted to discuss a minor dispute she’d had with a neighbor over her cat’s killing a bird in his yard. The deputy gave her advice.

NICASIO – A Nicasio Valley Road resident at 9:41 p.m. last Wednesday reported 20 people were fishing in Nicasio Reservoir at night. The reservoir and its shores are closed to the public after sunset. A deputy said the "anglers," who were "cooperative," left.

POINT REYES STATION – Medics and deputies responded at 8:51 a.m. last Wednesday when an 84-year-old woman with a history of heart problems experienced pain on her left side.

DOGTOWN – A school at 8:51 a.m. last Wednesday notified deputies that its staff were detaining a student who had slapped one of the staff members.

SAN GERONIMO – A member of the school district staff at 12:59 p.m. last Wednesday notified deputies that eight 16 year olds were on the Middle School’s grounds and refusing to leave. A deputy moved them along.

POINT REYES STATION – A Mesa Road resident at 8:05 p.m. Aug. 12 complained about a "stinking horse trailer parked near [her] gate," a deputy quoted her as saying. She told the officer that she feared the smell could cause her asthma to flare up, so she would like the trailer moved. A deputy found that the trailer was legally parked and that there were horses in it, "so it should not be there long."

BOLINAS – An Olema-Bolinas Road resident at 9:38 p.m. Aug. 12 reported a car had run off Highway 1 and into Bolinas Lagoon. Deputies noted the owner of the four-door Honda lives in Petaluma. The Highway Patrol handled the matter.

FOREST KNOLLS – Medics transported a 26-year-old man to a hospital by ambulance at 10:47 p.m. Aug. 12 after he tried to commit suicide by slashing a wrist. A deputy noted the victim "was cooperative" but "the bleeding [has] not stopped."

STINSON BEACH – A man at 11:45 p.m. Aug. 12 reported a burglar had broken into his car while it was parked along Highway 1. Stolen were a $600 car stereo, his wallet, and sunglasses. He added that he had found somebody else’s screwdriver in his car.

TOMALES – A Gericke Road resident at 8:24 a.m. Aug. 12 reported someone had dumped a pig carcass in his driveway during the night.

INVERNESS – A Camino del Mar resident at 12:23 p.m. Aug. 12 told deputies someone had dumped wood on her property. A deputy, however, determined that another resident on the property was doing some maintenance and had put the wood there. He hauled it away later in the day.

WOODACRE – A Fire Road resident at 12:46 p.m. Aug. 12 reported an ongoing dispute with her landlord. A deputy gave her advice.

STINSON BEACH – A theater spokesman at 3:52 p.m. Aug. 12 told deputies he had earlier been asked to notify deputies whenever a particular townswoman came on its property. She did it again, he said. An officer gave him advice.

POINT REYES STATION – A disabled driver at 3:58 complained that a car without a handicapped sign was parked in blue parking place. A deputy ticketed the car.

POINT REYES STATION – Sheriff’s Lt. Rich Ginnodo, commander of the West Marin Substation, has asked The Light to let readers know that a campaign to remove abandoned cars is underway in West Marin. Lt. Ginnodo said the Sheriff’s Office will arrange to have abandoned vehicles towed off private property, as well as public property, if the landowner signs a release. August 14, 2003 Sheriff's Calls

WOODACRE – A Carson Road resident at 7:42 p.m. Monday complained about a pickup truck with a camper shell parked in her driveway. She said this is an ongoing problem which, she suspected, involves her neighbors. A deputy discussed parking laws with her.

LAGUNITAS – A Sir Francis Drake Boulevard resident at 7:50 p.m. Monday reported a Pontiac Grand Am had been parked in his driveway three days. He said the car’s right-side door was missing a window and that the ignition switch had been punched out. A deputy determined the car had been sold Dec. 20 and is registered through Nov. 24.

STINSON BEACH – A woman at 1:50 a.m. Tuesday reported she had received a cell-phone call from her son, who is a correctional officer, that he was following a stolen 1998 green Nissan Sentra. She said her son, who was in uniform, was driving a small truck and had his young daughter in it. She didn’t know his cell-phone’s number.

WOODACRE – Deputies and medics responded at 2:13 a.m. Tuesday when a woman reported she had overturned her car in her driveway 90 minutes earlier. She said she had walked nearly to Sir Francis Drake Boulevard to call for help and had a head injury. Deputies, however, repeatedly noted she was being "very uncooperative" when pressed for more information.

NICASIO – A county Department of Public Works employee at 7:27 a.m. Monday reported a cow was loose on Nicasio Valley Road. A deputy contacted its owner.

LAGUNITAS – A man complained at 9:13 a.m. Sunday that a motorhome had been parked beside Lagunitas Road all night. A deputy located the 51-year-old driver and told him that Marin ordinances prohibit sleeping overnight in vehicles except in designated campgrounds.

BOLINAS – An Aspen Road resident at 9:19 a.m. Monday reported a burglar had stolen antiques, a camera and tripod, and fabrics from a storage container.

BOLINAS – A man at 1:09 p.m. Monday reported his foster daughter had run away after being grounded Saturday morning. At 1:56 p.m., a Brighton Avenue resident complained about a loud noise, possibly from a pump, and a deputy went to investigate. All was quiet when he arrived, but he spotted the runaway girl on Brighton Beach and returned her to her foster father.

WOODACRE – A 21-year-old woman at 2:01 p.m. Monday told deputies her father had hit her in the face. He might be on heroin, she added. The father, in turn, told deputies his daughter earlier "came at [him] with a can opener."

WOODACRE – A resident at 8:01 p.m. Sunday complained that a friend of her brother has come onto her property repeatedly when looking for the brother, who lives nearby. She said she believes the friend uses marijuana and that she is "afraid of him." At 6:11 p.m. Monday, the resident called back and "had several questions about a sheriff’s incident that occurred in the 1980s," a deputy reported. "She wasn’t making much sense," an officers reported but added that although she might be "eccentric," she is not crazy.

BOLINAS – An arborist at 9:28 p.m. Sunday reported he had caught a man with a two-toned, light-colored pickup truck dumping a load of "pine debris and poison oak" in the vicinity of Larch and Walnut roads. The arborist said he yelled at the man, who "jumped into his vehicle and left." The arborist told officers he had previously seen the truck in Bolinas.

POINT REYES STATION – A Tomasini Canyon Road resident at 1:14 p.m. Sunday notified deputies a 1960s model, two-toned pickup truck had dumped car parts on her property. She added that the truck was a 1960s model.

STINSON BEACH – The Highway Patrol at 2:13 p.m. Sunday reported a Nissan was dangling "off [Highway 1] in a precarious position." A tow truck was summoned.

POINT REYES STATION – Two people separately called deputies about 10:30 p.m. Sunday to report eight to 10 Arabian horses were loose on the Point Reyes-Petaluma Road. An officer said the gate to their pasture needed to be secured better.

BOLINAS – A bloody man on Wharf Road at 11:20 p.m. Sunday told deputies someone had hit him. Officers said the man was bleeding from his forehead, nose, and ears; he also had scrapes on his knees. There were no other witnesses to what happened.

LUCAS VALLEY ROAD – Deputies and Skywalker firefighters were alerted at 11:47 p.m. Sunday when a motorist saw smoke and a youth hiding behind a tree. Firefighters said the teenager was last seen walking eastbound with no shirt although it was nearly midnight.

LAGUNITAS – A Sir Francis Drake Boulevard resident at 12:21 a.m. Monday said she was concerned about her 19-year-old son, who has had health problems. He had left home two hours earlier and not returned, she said.

POINT REYES STATION – A woman on Mesa Road at 7:41 a.m. Sunday reported an 84-year-old man had fallen. Medics helped him to his feet.

POINT REYES STATION – A man at 11:04 a.m. asked for extra patrols around his church after a transient, who said he had been on the road 10 years, "got agitated and upset when asked to leave." The transient was described as wearing fatigues, a beard, and "knickers." At 5:08 p.m. a woman from the church notified officers the man, who was in his 20s, was sitting in front of the main door with his many belongings.

BOLINAS – A man on Wharf Road notified deputies at 12:51 p.m. Sunday that he had lost his wallet in a business. He said the wallet contained $85 in cash and credit cards.

WOODACRE – Deputies and medics responded at 3:22 p.m. Sunday when a 72-year-old woman with a history of health problems experienced chest pains for two to three hours.

INVERNESS – A nurse on Perth Way at 4:21 p.m. Sunday heard a baby crying. When she called for any adults present, there was no reply. She began an unsuccessful hunt in the woods for the baby. A deputy quoted her as saying, she "can definitely hear a baby crying." Eventually a deputy found a mother hiking with a youngster, who began crying after she scraped a knee.

BOLINAS – Medics responded to Brighton Avenue at 6:16 p.m. Sunday after a 20-year-old man fell and injured a shoulder.

BOLINAS – Firefighters were flagged down at 6:41 p.m. Sunday and told a man needed an ambulance. Deputies at the same time received a report of a 40-year-old man screaming in pain.

POINT REYES STATION – A county firefighter at 9:24 p.m. Saturday reported five cows were loose at the intersection of Highway 1 and the Point Reyes-Petaluma Road. The firefighter put the cows back in a field but told deputies their fence was broken and that he didn’t "expect the cows will stay put." A deputy was unable to find either the cows or a hole in their fence.

STINSON BEACH – A Sonoma Patio resident at 10:13 p.m. Saturday complained about a loud party a block away. She said it was a large, catered party and that such parties are not allowed at the house because its septic system is inadequate. When a deputy arrived, he found "an adult birthday party ending and the caterers going home."

SAMUEL TAYLOR PARK – A ranger at 11:06 p.m. Saturday reported a vehicle had run off Sir Francis Drake Boulevard. No one was injured, the ranger said, but the driver might be drunk. A deputy determined the vehicle was merely "high centered" on something at the edge of the road.

BOLINAS – A deputy went to Brighton Beach at 12:13 a.m. Sunday after receiving a report of a "large fireworks display." He found no fireworks, but he directed campers on the beach to leave and extinguish campfires.

STINSON BEACH – A Highway 1 resident at 1:10 a.m. Sunday complained about a large group of youths with a bonfire on the beach. She said she was worried they would leave broken glass strewn about. As a deputy arrived, 15 to 20 youths departed. The officer found only four or five adults on the beach.

BOLINAS – A Brighton Avenue resident at 8:46 a.m. Saturday complained that the neighbors’ loud pool cleaner was running continually. She said she had spoken to the neighbors’ caretaker, and he had said he would limit the cleaner’s time of operation. Nonetheless, she said, she needed advice, and a deputy gave it to her. At 3:42 a.m. the following morning, the resident called deputies again to complain about the pool cleaner, saying it was still on despite the caretaker’s promise. She asked that a deputy come to Bolinas and "assess the noise."

STINSON BEACH – A resident in the vicinity of Calles del Arroyo and Occidente complained about a large crowd on the beach with a big fire at 11:42 a.m. Saturday. A deputy determined that a ceramicist, who was not on public property, was firing pots in the sand.

FOREST KNOLLS – A Forest Drive resident at 12:37 p.m. Saturday complained that his neighbor’s cat kills birds in his yard. When he brought this up with his neighbor, he said, they had an unpleasant "verbal exchange." He asked for advice.

STINSON BEACH – A man notified deputies at 1:43 p.m. Saturday that two men, who were very drunk, had been refused service in a bar. The men, one of whom was blind, were now in a BMW wagon parked along Highway 1, the man said. He added that the men would probably drive off "when no one is looking."

FORET KNOLLS – A Montezuma Avenue resident at 1:44 p.m. Saturday reported hearing an unfamiliar noise and asked that a deputy come to her house and try to locate it. However, 10 minutes before the deputy arrived, the noise stopped, she later said.

STINSON BEACH – A Rafael Patio resident at 3:03 p.m. Saturday reported having an ongoing problem with an ex-boyfriend. She added that he had been previously arrested for domestic violence.

INVERNESS – An Inverness Way resident at 11:09 p.m. Friday told deputies that she and her roommate have been receiving harassing phone calls and that they have noticed a male in their backyard at various times. On this evening, she said, they saw him on their backsteps and let out their pitbull which chased him away.

BOLINAS – A Wharf Road resident at 4:34 a.m. Saturday complained about someone sleeping on his property and refusing to leave. A deputy checked the identification of the trespasser and warned him that if he camps on private property again, he may be arrested.

WOODACRE – A resident at 10:17 p.m. Aug. 5 complained about loud remodeling within a house on Ivy Lane. A deputy found a worker sanding walls and advised him of the county’s noise ordinance, as well as permit restrictions on work hours.

WOODACRE – A Conifer Way resident at 9:39 a.m. Friday complained that workers at an Ivy Lane construction site are parking excavating equipment on his property, damaging his road, and creating conditions for erosion. A deputy concluded the conflict was a civil-law dispute between two neighbors.

STINSON BEACH – Deputies and medics responded at 12:30 a.m. Friday when a 72-year-old woman with a history of heart problems began to feel light-headed.

LAGUNITAS – A Chimney Lane resident at 11:42 a.m. Friday reported that an unknown vehicle had damaged her fence.

BOLINAS – Deputies at 3:59 p.m. Friday received a report of youths drinking alcoholic beverages on the beach. An officer who responded spotted a juvenile who is suspected of vandalism, but he fled the beach on foot.

INVERNESS – Deputies and medics responded at 5:35 p.m. Friday after learning that a 75-year-old woman had tripped and fallen three hours earlier, dislocating a shoulder.

WOODACRE – A resident at 7:39 p.m. last Thursday complained about an encampment of homeless people that has recently been created in the vicinity of Railroad Avenue and San Geronimo Valley Drive.

STINSON BEACH – An Avenida Farallon resident at 10:11 p.m. last Thursday reported a vehicle outside was on fire. The resident said the fire was not threatening any homes. Firefighters responded anyhow.

POINT REYES STATION – A man at 10:40 p.m. last Thursday told deputies that a 20-year-old male friend escaped from his parents’ custody while the friend’s parents were driving him to a rehabilitation center.

POINT REYES STATION – A Highway 1 resident at 10:57 a.m. last Thursday reported losing her cell phone the previous day.

DILLON BEACH – A woman on Marine View Drive at 2:09 p.m. last Thursday told deputies that two 20-year-old men had stolen two matching surfboards from her the previous week. She asked that a deputy sort out where they got the boards. An officer gave her advice.

INVERNESS – A resident at 1:52 a.m. last Thursday complained of fireworks on the beach for the last 10 minutes. All was quiet when a deputy arrived.

INVERNESS – A Laurel View Avenue resident at 8:41 a.m. last Wednesday complained about receiving "spam faxes" despite a new law against dispersing many types of unsolicited advertising faxes. The resident said the phone company had told him he needed a sheriff’s case number to stop the spam. A deputy, however, determined there was no crime involved with the unsolicited faxes the resident was receiving from a stockbroker.

INVERNESS PARK – A Sir Francis Drake Boulevard resident at 4:28 p.m. last Wednesday reported her caretaker’s car had been vandalized. A deputy could not determine whether damage to the car had been intentional.

NICASIO – A woman at 4:31 p.m. last Wednesday called deputies from Nicasio Valley Road to say that two hours earlier while her husband had been fishing, he had noticed an unoccupied, white car that smelled as if a corpse had been in it. The woman said she and her husband were camping in Olema. A deputy could not find the car.

POINT REYES STATION – A resident at 8:30 p.m. Aug. 5 notified deputies that his neighbors were quarreling and that he believed they had been drinking. He said he has heard them in many arguments recently.

WOODACRE – A man at 9:38 p.m. Aug. 5 reported juveniles with flashlights were looking into vehicles parked along San Geronimo Valley Drive. He said he had seen their flashlights but not the youths themselves. A deputy who responded found only a man with a flashlight walking his dog.

WOODACRE – A Carson Road resident at 1:18 a.m. last Wednesday reported she’d heard gunshots, men yelling, car doors slamming, and "swearing males."

BOLINAS – A man at 12:58 p.m. Aug. 5 notified deputies he had protected a Monterey cypress on county property from being cut down by a tree-trimming company. A deputy was unable to determine if the tree was on county property and noted 80 percent of it had been cut down already. He said he would check with the county Department of Public Works.

NATIONAL SEASHORE – A woman on Pierce Point Road Aug. 5 told deputies she was returning from Pebble Beach when she saw a man in "red and pink briefs … with his privates hanging out." The man, who was about 45, was "holding himself and seemed surprised to see the [woman]," a deputy quoted her as saying. The incident was referred to a state park ranger.

STINSON BEACH – A woman at 5 p.m. Aug. 5 told deputies she had asked a neighbor to move a car parked on community center property. She said the man refused and shouted profanities. A deputy could not find him.

POINT REYES STATON – A restaurant owner at 5:58 p.m. Aug. 5 reported catching an employee stealing and asked deputies how he should proceed.

August 7, 2003 Sheriff's Calls

BOLINAS – A deputy on Ocean Avenue at 9:05 a.m. last Wednesday spotted a woman wearing a basket. The woman had been in the county’s crisis unit twice recently, and the deputy took her into custody. However, she kicked out a window in the deputy’s patrolcar, and shattered glass cut the officer’s ear. The woman was charged with resisting arrest.

STINSON BEACH – A Rafael Patio resident at 8:34 a.m. last Thursday notified deputies that two weeks earlier her "live-in boyfriend pushed her into the edge of a door, picked her up, and pushed her out the kitchen window," an officer quoted her as saying. The woman, who was bruised, said her boyfriend was already on probation for domestic violence.

STINSON BEACH – A deputy on Calle de la Ribera at 6:28 p.m. Friday arrested a man on charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm.

MARSHALL – A father at 10:03 p.m. Monday notified deputies that an hour earlier his 16-year-old daughter had received a threat from a 21-year-old man in Petaluma. The caller, who threatened to kill the girl, was "romantically interested in her," a deputy reported.

BOLINAS – A bar employee at 10:55 p.m. Monday reported that friends of a drunk woman on Wharf Road were having problems getting her into a vehicle.

LUCAS VALLEY ROAD – A woman at 12:44 a.m. Tuesday told deputies that a dead deer in the middle of the road was creating a traffic hazard. The Humane Society responded.

BOLINAS – A man on Brighton Avenue at 8:24 p.m. July 29 notified deputies he had heard a noise in a neighbor’s house at 6:20 p.m. and discovered it had just been vandalized. The man said he saw three or four girls and at least one boy run out of the house. They had broken ceramic planters and tipped over recycling containers, the man said. He added that his wife has been looking after the house for the neighbors while they are out of town. At 718 a.m. Monday he asked deputies for reassurance that they were still pursuing the case. An officer gave him advice.

INVERNESS PARK – A resident at 11:25 a.m. Monday complained about hearing "for days" the backup alarm used on heavy equipment. He said the warning beeps were in the vicinity of Sir Francis Drake Boulevard and Kyleswood Place, but all was quiet when a deputy arrived. The officer was also unable to find any construction underway in the area.

WOODACRE – Deputies at 11:43 a.m. Monday received a report that garbage had been dumped in front of the Improvement Club. Both the club and a deputy identified the culprit and left messages to clean up the mess. The deputy warned he would return if the culprit had not responded by that afternoon.

INVERNESS – A woman at 12:02 p.m. Monday told deputies a second woman, 55, had been experiencing chest pain since that morning. The victim had no history of heart problems, the first woman said, but noted she was dizzy and short of breath.

POINT REYES STATION – A B Street resident at 12:15 p.m. Monday reported that over the weekend someone had slept in an 8-foot-by-8-foot playhouse on her property. She asked for extra patrols around her house.

LAGUNITAS – A Sir Francis Drake Boulevard resident at 12:25 p.m. reported he had lost a cell phone.

DILLON BEACH – A woman at 2:33 p.m. notified deputies that loose cows were in the intersection of Dillon Beach and Franklin School roads. A Highway Patrol officer, however, reported, "Dillon Beach Road is cow free." He added that he could not find any cows on Franklin School Road either.

BOLINAS – A Yucca Road resident at 2:46 p.m. Monday told deputies he had been driving on Terrace Avenue at Canyon Road when a man on a bicycle blocked his way, began yelling at him, and brandished a knife with a 4.5-inch blade. The motorist stayed in his vehicle, and eventually the bicyclist let him pass, a deputy reported.

DILLON BEACH – A woman on Marine View Drive at 3:36 p.m. Monday reported an 11-year-old boy on a bicycle had hit a speed bump and fallen, landing on his head on the asphalt. The boy "has head injuries," she said, but is "conscious now." However, he was having trouble talking because he had lost one tooth, the woman noted.

MUIR WOODS – A ranger reported at 4:18 p.m. Monday that a car parked along North Franks Valley Road had been burglarized.

DILLON BEACH – A woman on Marine View Drive at 6:54 p.m. Monday told deputies that while she was away last week, a vandal had carved initials on her travel trailer and left other scratches.

POINT REYES STATION – Deputies at 7:38 p.m. Sunday received a report that a man was coughing violently and having trouble breathing. The man had undergone bypass surgery in April and had twice suffered pneumonia since then. Deputies and medics responded.

FOREST KNOLLS – A Rosario Road resident at 8:10 p.m. Sunday called 911, and a dispatcher reported hearing two people yelling loudly. The resident then told the dispatcher the second person had ripped the phone out of his hand. He said she had wanted to stay in his house but had now left.

FOREST KNOLLS – A counselor on Sunday evening reported a 26-years-old woman was hysterical and suicidal, having just undergone detoxification. The woman wanted to go to the county crisis unit, and a deputy took her there.

DILLON BEACH – An Oceana Drive resident at 10:36 p.m. Sunday reported a 64-year-old neighbor had been walking in the street drunk. When the second man tried to drive, the resident said, he took away the man’s keys, and the man became "belligerent."

MARSHALL – A Highway 1 resident at 5:30 a.m. Sunday complained about a man on the beach creating noise. He said the man lives on a boat, and he makes noise when he comes ashore. The man was now leaving, the resident said.

BOLINAS – A Wharf Road resident at 8:51 a.m. Sunday called deputies "to complain about airplanes flying over Bolinas for 10 years." The woman believes jets should fly over the ocean instead. A deputy reported she "was very hard to understand [and] was mumbling." When an officer called her back, the call was not answered.

BOLINAS – A man called deputies from Wharf Road at 10:49 a.m. Sunday to report his company van, which was carrying a surfboard, had been stolen. The man said a 42-year-old female friend might have taken the van, which is a white Dodge.

LAGUNITAS – A woman on East Cintura Avenue at 11:42 p.m. Sunday reported having difficulty breathing after being stung four or five times. Her legs were starting to swell and her "body feels funny," a deputy quoted her as saying. The woman speculated the stings came from yellow jackets, not bees. She noted she’d previously been stung by bees without having an allergic reaction.

BOLINAS – Medics responded at 12:46 p.m. Sunday when a 42-year-old woman was hit in the face by a surfboard. A second woman said the victim was bleeding and possibly had a broken nose.

STINSON BEACH – An artist on Calle de la Sierra at 2:32 p.m. Sunday told deputies he had sold a painting to a friend, who had never paid him in full.

INVERNESS – A resident at 2:33 p.m. Sunday asked deputies for advice concerning an older brother. He said the brother has accused him of abusing their 84-year-old mother but that, in fact, no abuse had occurred. He said his brother basically doesn’t like the gardener his mother employs and suspects the gardener and his wife are stealing from her.

MARSHALL – Deputies at 8:37 p.m. Saturday received a report of a fire on the beach "under buildings." Officers suspected the buildings might be two burned-out cabins just south of Nick’s Cove, but no fire was found there or anywhere else along the Marshall shore.

POINT REYES STATION – A customer at 10:32 p.m. Saturday called deputies from the kitchen of a bed-and-breakfast inn, saying she was locked out of her room and could not find the innkeepers. A deputy said he would attempt to contact them.

DILLON BEACH – A man at 12:46 a.m. Sunday complained about a loud party with 20 guests in the vicinity of Kona Lane and Oceana Drive. A deputy contacted 15 people and noted they were "very cooperative when advised of the complaint. [The hosts] brought everyone inside from the hot tub, closed windows, and will keep the noise down," he reported.

NICASIO – A woman at 2:44 a.m. Sunday notified deputies she had received a worried call from her daughter. The daughter was home alone on Lucas Valley Road and "is hearing slamming sounds inside the house downstairs," the woman said.

LAGUNITAS – Deputies at 7:09 a.m. Saturday received a report of a domestic quarrel on West Cintura Avenue. The caller said the quarreling couple were new to the neighborhood.

NICASIO – A woman at 8:46 a.m. Saturday reported finding a dead man slumped over the wheel of a silver, four-wheel-drive Chevrolet parked along Nicasio Valley Road. Deputies were told the car’s back window was shattered, its engine was running, and its lights were on. The man was cold to the touch, she said.

STINSON BEACH – A man on Highway 1 at 11:35 a.m. Saturday reported losing a credit card in a restaurant the previous night. He said he had canceled the card and that no one else had tried to charge anything using it.

POINT REYES STATION – A Highway 1 resident at 12:07 p.m. Saturday complained that she has been harassed for two years with calls requesting sex. Of recent, she said, the calls have become more frequent.

BOLINAS – A ranger on Brighton Avenue at 12:14 p.m. Saturday reported there were "numerous illegally parked cars the entire length of Park Avenue" and said this is an "ongoing problem." A deputy, however, found only one improperly parked vehicle, and the driver agreed to move it.

TOMALES – A 37-year-old man on the Tomales-Petaluma Road received camel bites to his face, arm, leg, and foot, he reported at 2:04 p.m. Saturday.

MUIR WOODS – A state park ranger at 6:22 p.m. Saturday found two 50-gallon drums of a "tar-like substance" along North Muir Woods Road. The Highway Patrol responded.

DILLON BEACH – A sheriff’s deputy in El Dorado County told West Marin deputies at 6:41 p.m. Saturday that she would take a report on a rape that allegedly occurred here last Thursday. An El Dorado County woman told officers that she, a male coworker, and a couple they know had planned to spend the weekend at the beach, but the couple had to cancel. The coworkers then spent the evening getting drunk and went to sleep, she said. About 3 a.m., the woman reported, she awoke to find her coworker having sexual intercourse with her, but when she told him to stop, he did. After she returned to El Dorado County, she told her boyfriend about the incident and said she had been raped. Marin deputies will now investigate the case further.

NICASIO – A deputy at 9:29 p.m. Friday told 10 fishermen it was illegal to fish in the reservoir after sunset. He also told them their cars were parked illegally. "All [were] sent on their way," he reported.

TOMALES – The Highway Patrol at 10:59 p.m. Friday reported a car had overturned and was blocking Highway 1. A man in the car was injured but conscious, the CHP said. Firefighters responded.

MARSHALL – A deputy at 12:06 p.m. Friday reported he was with a motorcyclist who had crashed on Highway 1, possibly breaking a collarbone. The biker asked that a deputy let a friend, who was waiting at a restaurant, know what had happened to him. An officer did.

STINSON BEACH – A deputy at 6:28 p.m. Friday arrested a suspect in a domestic-violence case.

SAN GERONIMO – A woman at 8:08 p.m. last Thursday reported that an 87-year-old Meadow Way resident had fallen on his front porch and was found lying on his side. She did not know how long ago the accident occurred but said he was "lucid" although his head hurt. Deputies and medics responded.

STINSON BEACH – A man at 8:23 last Thursday told deputies a vandal had broken a wing window on his Jeep while it was parked in the vicinity of Highway 1 and Panoramic Highway. Nothing was taken from the vehicle, he said.

DILLON BEACH – A merchant at 9:02 a.m. Friday reported a two-foot-long barrel had been stolen from a canon in front of the Beach Avenue business. The merchant said the canon was part of a fountain and is inoperable.

POINT REYES STATION – Deputies at 12:10 p.m. Friday reported a woman on Highway 1 and an Inverness man had engaged in "mutual combat." Neither wished to press charges against the other, a deputy noted.

DILLON BEACH – A woman at 6:05 p.m. Friday complained about youths, two males and two females, playing music too loudly and driving erratically. She said they were drunk. The suspects subsequently left the area.

OLEMA – Deputies at 7:45 p.m. last Wednesday received a report of a man with a t-shirt on his head chanting and digging in the dirt with his hands. An officer who responded reported the "subject [was] visiting [his] son buried there. Not a problem."

SAN GERONIMO – A Tamarack Road resident at 8:07 p.m. last Wednesday complained about a series of harassing phone calls. He said the calls began four hours earlier and sounded as if they were youthful pranks.

OLEMA – A woman at 1:25 p.m. last Wednesday reported that a customer had left his campsite without paying.

OLEMA – Deputies at 1:53 p.m. last Wednesday received a report from a 16-year-old girl who said she had been struck in the face by another girl. The victim added that the other girl was a former friend who had threatened her. She asked for advice.

MUIR BEACH – A Starbuck Drive resident at 3:23 p.m. last Wednesday notified deputies that it appeared mail had been stolen from his mailbox.

TOMALES – Deputies at 7:13 p.m. July 29 received a report that cows were loose on Dillon Beach Road. Firefighters and the Highway Patrol responded.

FOREST KNOLLS – Two residents, one male and one female, independently reported hearing a man shouting about 1:40 p.m. and then one gunshot.

POINT REYES STATION – Sheriff’s Lt. Rich Ginnodo, commander of the West Marin Substation, has asked The Light to let readers know that a campaign to remove abandoned cars is underway in West Marin. Lt. Ginnodo said the Sheriff’s Office will arrange to have abandoned vehicles towed off private property, as well as public property, if the landowner signs a release.
