July 29, 1999 Sheriff's Calls
DILLON BEACH - A man on Oceanview Drive at 8:45 p.m. became upset because of loud noise from people in the hot tub of a rental home next door. In response, he poured ammonia on a woman's car, but she washed it off, and no damage was done. A deputy reported the man afterwards felt embarrassed by his actions.
FOREST KNOLLS - A woman at 9:15 p.m. reported that her son, who has a history of running away, had done it again following an argument with her. At 1 a.m., the boy's father saw him sneaking around the house, but he ran away again. At 10 a.m., deputies located the boy and booked him into Juvenile Hall.
STINSON BEACH - A Seadrift Road resident at 2 a.m. reported there were 10 uninvited guests, who were friends of her daughter, inside their home. She said she wanted them to leave, but her daughter was threatening to go with them if they did. The girl's parents were attempting to stop her.
SAN GERONIMO - An anonymous caller, who sounded like a man between 40 and 50, notified deputies at 10:15 a.m. that there was a bomb set to go off in a business at 11 a.m. He said he'd been told that someone was mad at an employee of the business.
SAN GERONIMO - A man complained about someone dumping trash at Deer Camp and San Geronimo Valley drives. He said it was an ongoing problem. A deputy determined there had been no dumping recently.
DILLON BEACH - Following a day of crabbing and drinking together, two men got into a quarrel, which ended in a fight. A man from Lockeford, San Joaquin County, told deputies the other man hit him in the face and head, as well as re-injured his recently broken wrist. He gave officers the other man's phone number.
LAGUNITAS - A woman at 3 p.m. reported that a second woman, who was at Arroyo and Barranca roads, was waving a handgun.
INVERNESS - A man reported there was an injured deer beside Sir Francis Drake Boulevard and that the Humane Society should be called. A deputy, however, determined the deer was dead.
FOREST KNOLLS - A man complained about an ongoing problem with people partying in the town park and leaving trash. He said he had just found a can of lighter fluid on a picnic table.
BOLINAS WYE - A man at 9 a.m. notified deputies there were two brown-and-white calves in the roadway. Deputies referred the problem to the Highway Patrol.
MUIR BEACH - A "terrified" driver from Fairfax, Virginia, at 2:30 p.m. used her cellular phone to call rangers from a turnout along Highway 1. She said that driving an Oldsmobile along the precipitous Shoreline Highway had left her "in tears" and "paralyzed with fear [to where] she could not continue to drive."
HICKS VALLEY - A woman in a business reported that two men grabbed food and drove off without paying.
FOREST KNOLLS - An Aztec Avenue woman said someone had cut her wire fence.
MUIR BEACH - A woman notified deputies she had been flagged down by two girls, who said a man on the beach had exposed his genitals to them. They stayed in some bushes until he left in a maroon Toyota with out-of-state license plates. The matter was referred to park police.
BOLINAS - A woman told deputies her son was in her house despite a court order for him to stay away from her.
TOMALES - A man complained at 10:30 p.m. that a group in their late teens were on Valley Avenue being loud, drinking alcohol, and playing horseshoes. A deputy contacted three subjects.
BOLINAS - A woman told deputies she suspects three people are living in a van parked along Maple Avenue, having seen them hanging out clothes to dry. Deputies noted the vehicle had earlier been tagged to move within 72 hours or be towed away. Although the vehicle had been moved, it was still in town.
DILLON BEACH - A woman on Ocean Drive reported her four-year-old son was missing and that nine other people were searching for him.
BOLINAS - A woman living on Overlook Drive said at 1 p.m. that a man was harassing her and had tried to strangle her previously although he had not touched her that day. A deputy noted she had not filed an assault report against him on any earlier occasion. At 3:45 p.m. the man called deputies to report his girlfriend had "cleaned out" his bank account of $47,000. An officer gave him advice.
WOODACRE - A Garden Way man reported hearing three males fighting at 10:10 p.m. A deputy could not find them.
WOODACRE - A Redwood Drive man reported receiving harassing phone calls for three days.
BOLINAS - A woman called deputies to report her 21-year-old son had suffered a head injury in an assault. Officers noted she was "not very cooperative" on the phone but rather was "angry and argumentative."
OLEMA - A man at 11 a.m. reported a possible case of child abuse inside a travel trailer, which was shaking as people yelled and screamed. He said a small child was eventually let out of the trailer. An older child then came out and said, "I don't know how much longer I can take this." A deputy determined there was no child abuse.
BOLINAS - A mother phoned deputies in anger after her foster daughter "took an ax to a desk" before running out their front door. The 13 year old was taken to the Community Mental Health unit.
FOREST KNOLLS - A Sir Francis Drake Boulevard man reported that $800 worth of fishing gear had been stolen off his front porch.
WOODACRE - A Ridge Rock Road woman at 11:30 p.m. notified deputies she could hear what sounded like someone were trying to get in her bedroom window. She also said she could hear someone walking
on her roof.
INVERNESS PARK - A man at 12:25 a.m. reported hearing seven or eight shots that sounded as if they came from an automatic weapon.
NICASIO - A vehicle spilled insulation material onto Nicasio Valley Road at 8:25 a.m.
BOLINAS - A deputy checked out a report of child molesting and found no merit to the report.
July 22, 1999 Sheriff's Calls
BOLINAS - A radio was found in the middle of the roadway at Ocean Parkway and Elm Road.
BOLINAS - Two men engaged in "mutual combat" at Elm and Grove roads. One man received a cut above his left eye. The other suffered a broken arm. Both received medical treatment, and a deputy is following up on the case.
POINT REYES STATION - A deputy at 12:30 a.m. took an Inverness Park woman to the county crisis unit at Marin General Hospital after she appeared to be dangerous to herself. Deputies had previously been summoned to Via del Vista in Inverness when a resident said the Inverness Park woman was in the resident's yard wearing "a few skirts" and throwing property at her residence. The resident said that although the Inverness Park woman was irrational, she was not yet violent. A deputy who went to the scene accidentally backed his patrolcar into a short, steel pole, putting a dent in the vehicle's right rear quarter panel. The Inverness Park woman was eventually released by the crisis unit.
BOLINAS - A homeowner on Horseshoe Hill Road reported that someone had stenciled her family's name on a wooden sign and nailed the sign to the family's fence along the Olema-Bolinas Road.
BOLINAS - A deputy at 11:20 p.m. arrested a motorist on drunk-driving charges after he was stopped for a traffic violation.
POINT REYES STATION - A Highway 1 resident notified deputies that two adults and a child from Sonoma County were stranded at her residence. Their car had been towed away, she said, and they had no way to get home. They had tried unsuccessfully to get friends in Sonoma County to pick them up. Deputies noted both adults were drunk and earlier in the day had been taken into custody by the Park Service. Officers referred the problem to rangers.
POINT REYES STATION - A Mesa Road woman at 11:45 p.m. reported an adult was giving alcohol to juveniles.
SAN GERONIMO - A Sir Francis Drake Boulevard man notified deputies his 24-year-old daughter, who was visiting from Sacramento, had gone bicycle riding at 5:30 p.m. and not returned by 12:30 a.m. He said she had no acquaintances in the area and that he had checked with local hospitals to no avail.
STINSON BEACH - A Highway 1 resident reported that furniture had been dumped beside the roadway. She said she had seen the furniture a day earlier on Hillside Avenue in Bolinas.
SAN GERONIMO - A Woodacre woman at 8 p.m. reported her husband was "trapped" between two vehicles on Valley Drive. The sheriff's log indicated the "crushed person" was a victim of someone's violence.
POINT REYES STATION - A tourist, who spoke little English, became stranded at 10:25 p.m. when he ran out of gas beside the firehouse. A deputy assisted him.
SAN GERONIMO - A woman at 11:40 p.m. complained about hearing loud music from the Cultural Center for the last 20 minutes. A deputy abated the problem.
LAGUNITAS - An Arroyo Road woman told deputies she returned home at 11:45 p.m. and found on her fence a note saying her dog had been barking. "If it happens again, the dog would be shot," she quoted the note as saying. A deputy gave her advice.
MARSHALL - A man complained that people who fish at a beach along Highway 1 between 9 p.m. and 3 a.m. leave garbage on the beach.
POINT REYES STATION - The Highway Patrol told deputies it had been notified that a car had hit a deer along the Point Reyes-Petaluma Road. There was no damage to the car, and a deputy could not find the deer.
DILLON BEACH - A woman at 8 p.m. asked deputies to assist fire department medics, who had been summoned because someone "on acid" was having an asthma attack.
STINSON BEACH - At 9:30 p.m., the Coast Guard station at the Golden Gate reported fireworks on the beach at Calle del Arroyo.
BOLINAS - A Grove Road resident at 10 p.m. notified deputies that a woman naked from the waist down had come to her door. She described the bottomless woman as "plump," about 40 years old, and disoriented. It did not appear that the woman had been assaulted although she did look to be homeless, the resident said.
DILLON BEACH - A woman on Marine View Drive called deputies at 11:45 p.m. to say that a pair of male campers had possibly lured two young girls to their campsite and were talking to them "using vulgar language." A deputy located the girls and returned them to their parents.
BOLINAS - A Horseshoe Hill Road woman at midnight complained about noise from a nearby wedding party.
SAN GERONIMO - Deputies at 1 a.m. received a complaint about loud music on Meadow Way. When officers arrived, they dispersed a group of people.
BOLINAS - A burglar on Overlook Drive during the night stole three cases of wine worth $600.
BOLINAS - A woman, who cleans restrooms near the downtown tennis courts, at 9:45 a.m. complained that two suspicious men were hanging around the restrooms and keeping her from doing her job. One of them looked very angry, she said.
LAGUNITAS - A Cintura Avenue woman at 10:30 a.m. said a man in the neighborhood appeared suspicious although he may have been looking for work. A deputy reported he would give the woman advice.
INVERNESS PARK - A woman, who manages a vacation rental on Portola Avenue, reported that someone had stolen small items from the residence.
NATIONAL SEASHORE - A deputy on Pierce Point Road at 9:15 p.m. helped a motorist with a dead battery get her car started.
FOREST KNOLLS - A merchant notified deputies that a man about 30 years old had fallen into some bushes near her business. She said the man might be drunk or passed out. Deputies reported finding "one very drunk subject," and they "assisted [him] home."
LAGUNITAS - A woman reported that a burglar had entered her house through the dog door. She said she hadn't determined what was missing but thinks she knows who did it.
WOODACRE - A woman told deputies she was being harassed over the phone by her sister's ex-boyfriend, who used to live in Lagunitas.
SAN GERONIMO - A man at 9:15 p.m. reported that a pickup truck with a camper shell was dumping debris at San Geronimo Valley Drive and Deer Camp Road.
WOODACRE - A Crescent Drive man reported that several times in the past week, he heard a neighbor yelling at her son, who is about 13 and "out of control." She is "doing it again," he reported at 10:15 p.m., but a deputy could not find the disturbance.
BOLINAS - County firefighters at 11:15 a.m. reported a dumptruck lost a load of dirt on Highway 1. The truck driver removed the dirt.
LAGUNITAS - A woman complained about her 31-year-old son trespassing and vandalizing her car. When she put the phone down for a moment, deputies could hear arguing in the background.
WOODACRE - A Railroad Avenue resident at 6:30 p.m. complained about an ongoing problem with her neighbor's loud drums.
WOODACRE - Deputies at 7 p.m. arrested a woman on charges of assault with a deadly weapon (other than a gun) during the commission of a robbery.
POINT REYES STATION - Several residents notified deputies that two groups of teenagers got into a fight at the north end of the main street. One witness said it may have been the second such fight in three days involving local youths and out-of-town teenagers. Deputies interviewed one group of teens after the second incident, but none of them admitted to fighting, and none of them had visible injuries.
July 15, 1999 Sheriff's Calls
BOLINAS - A deputy on Olema-Bolinas Road at 9:20 a.m. arrested a man on charges of drunk driving.
OLEMA - Two motorists were involved in a minor accident at a campground. The man and woman exchanged DMV information.
BOLINAS - Two surfers on Brighton Beach about 8:40 p.m. had an altercation over surfer etiquette at the beach. One surfer accused the other of hitting him with a skateboard and threatening to drown him in the surf. A deputy gave both surfers advice.
HICKS VALLEY - A woman reported receiving annoying phone calls from another woman. She said the second woman had come to her house the previous day and had been "physical" in the past. A deputy noted the first woman is dating the second woman's former boyfriend.
INVERNESS - A woman reported that her canoe has been missing from Chicken Ranch Beach for four months.
DILLON BEACH - A woman reported that vandals had broken all the windows of a front-loader tractor. She estimated the damage at $5,000.
INVERNESS PARK - A burglar stole clothing, a VCR, and pots and pans from a man's house on Vallejo Street. He estimated the loss at $4,845.
POINT REYES STATION - A motorhome collided with another vehicle at 6:20 p.m. on Highway 1.
WOODACRE - A resident living in the area of Carson Road and Redwood Drive at 6:45 p.m. complained about loud drums in a garage on Redwood Drive. He said the drums had stopped for the moment but that they are usually continuous. At 9:40 p.m., deputies received another complaint about the drums.
FALLON - A woman notified deputies that a 38-year-old man, who the previous day said he was going home to cut grass, never made it.
HICKS VALLEY - A man reported that a car with its flashers on was parked in the middle of the Point Reyes-Petaluma Road. A deputy could not find it.
BOLINAS - A deputy told people, who were camping at Wharf Road and Brighton Avenue, to move along.
STINSON BEACH -A Calle del Mar resident said her husband an hour earlier had threatened to have her "eliminated." He said he was going to have "a big man" cut her into a million pieces, the wife said. She added that he was under the influence of alcohol and cocaine but was gone for the moment, "probably picking up more cocaine."
BOLINAS - The fire chief reported an emotionally disturbed woman, 35, was eating garbage at the end of Brighton Avenue. She also appeared to be vandalizing a truck, he said. A deputy determined that the woman, who was from Inverness Park, was going through garbage bins looking for aluminum cans. At midnight earlier in the week, a merchant in Point Reyes Station called deputies to say the woman, who had been drinking, was refusing to leave the business. Deputies, who noted they could hear the angry woman in the background of the call, abated the disturbance. Still earlier in the week, a woman on Brighton Avenue complained to deputies that the woman was being belligerent in a church although she had not been drinking. A deputy went looking for her.
FOREST KNOLLS - A woman said she was concerned about her brother, a resident of North Juarez Avenue, since she had not heard from him in about four months.
CHILENO VALLEY - A vehicle ran off Chileno Valley Road at 3:20 a.m., and deputies reported a man needed help.
BOLINAS - A Brighton Avenue resident told a deputy she was very concerned about parking problems on her street and wanted to discuss them with an officer. A deputy gave her advice.
FOREST KNOLLS - A woman on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard said a man who hangs out by a pump station may not be taking his medicine, for he laughs uncontrollably and is loud.
BOLINAS - An anonymous caller at 9:45 p.m. complained that four or five juveniles were being loud at Brighton and Park avenues and "may be drinking."
POINT REYES STATION - A man at 10:15 p.m. complained about loud music coming from a vehicle parked on the main street. A deputy abated a "small party" when he arrived.
MUIR BEACH - A man at 11 p.m. complained about loud music coming from a car parked along Highway 1. All was quiet when a deputy arrived.
BOLINAS - An Overlook Drive woman at 1:45 a.m. notified deputies that her dog had just killed her landlord's cat and that the landlord was now in her cottage yelling and screaming. The dog was still loose, she said. An officer determined that a "pack of dogs got the cat."
SAMUEL TAYLOR PARK - Campers using a cellular phone called deputies to say that some animal was grunting and eating food outside their tent. They said they thought the animal was a bear, but a deputy determined it was only a raccoon.
TOMALES - A Highway 1 resident told deputies a Sausalito man had broken into her house the previous night and stolen her dog. She noted she had filed a complaint at the time and wanted to know what deputies had done so far. An officer gave her advice.
WOODACRE - A man reported that a large amount of tree trimmings had been dumped in a creek near his residence. A deputy contacted the person responsible for the dumping, and he said he would take care of it.
FOREST KNOLLS - A guest claimed to have been assaulted while visiting an organization, but a deputy determined there was no merit to the complaint.
STINSON BEACH - A dog on Calle del Arroyo bit a woman, and the dog owner refused to give her his name, she complained. Deputies could not find the dog.
LAGUNITAS - A man at 12:40 p.m. complained that four juveniles were swimming in the Ink Wells which, he said, are on his property. A ranger found about 30 people at the Ink Wells and warned them that they would have to leave since they were on private property.
BOLINAS - A woman on Maple Road at 7:25 p.m. complained about someone sleeping in a vehicle in the neighborhood.
INVERNESS PARK - A motorist at 10 p.m. told deputies she had seen a man on Bear Valley Road waving his arms. When officers checked, they found a woman and her son; their car's battery was dead.
WOODACRE - A woman from the Improvement Club found several juveniles trespassing in its swimming pool at 10:30 p.m. She said she had contacted other club members and asked deputies for extra patrols in the area.
BOLINAS - A man at Maple Road and Ocean Parkway complained at 10:20 p.m. about several people, "probably juveniles," yelling and playing loud music. A deputy contacted the revelers and moved them along.
BOLINAS - At the request of the Humane Society, a deputy unsuccessfully tried to find a deer that had been reportedly hit on Highway 1.
LAGUNITAS - A Sir Francis Drake Boulevard man at 12:15 a.m. complained about 10 people at a pump station. He said they were inside the station's fence and that he could see their flashlights down beside a creek. He said the area is littered with beer bottles.
INVERNESS - A merchant reported that a drunk motorist had crashed downtown at 9 p.m.
BOLINAS - A woman at 9:15 a.m. complained about three or four men hanging out and drinking beside a church. She told deputies she was calling at the request of the church.
FOREST KNOLLS - A woman on Guadalupe Place complained about two men drinking every day in the town park. A deputy contacted both of them and found they had been drinking but were not drunk.
NICASIO - A woman living along Nicasio Valley Road reported that six weeks ago a burglar stole a leather jacket, golf clubs, and other items (together worth $3,000) from her house.
INVERNESS PARK - A man on Lower Robert Drive received a call requesting $600 for a cellular phone he doesn't own.
NICASIO RESERVOIR - Two vehicles were severely damaged in a wreck, but no one was injured.
SAN GERONIMO - A man at 1 a.m. asked deputies to check on a deer that had been injured in traffic on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard. A deputy found a dead deer on the shoulder of the road.
FALLON - A woman living along Valley Ford-Franklin School Road reported at 2:15 a.m. having heard a man screaming, "Oh, my God!" for the past 10 minutes.
STINSON BEACH - A woman lost a cell phone on Seadrift Road.
BOLINAS - A resident complained about five juveniles on the roof of a church throwing water balloons at passing vehicles. One of the juveniles was identified. He was reprimanded, and his father was notified.
FOREST KNOLLS - After a 13-year-old boy was arrested in a burglary case, deputies later in the day pulled him out of summer school. The boy's father wanted to know why the Sheriff's Office were involved with the summer school.
TOMALES - A vehicle struck a deer on Highway 1 at 8:45 p.m.
SAMUEL TAYLOR PARK - A man at 3 a.m. complained about three or four young people being loud in a campground. He told deputies that when he asked them to turn down their music, they yelled at him not to touch their vehicle.
FOREST KNOLLS - A woman returned from vacation to find money and fireworks taken from her home on Resaca Avenue.
BOLINAS - A deputy took a report regarding an alleged child molestation.
NICASIO - A county building inspector notified deputies that an elderly couple had been sitting in a car beside Nicasio Valley Road for more than two hours. An officer said he would check on them.
DILLON BEACH - A deputy arrested a man
on charges of public drunkenness.
July 8, 1999 Sheriff's Calls
TOMALES - A man reported having been assaulted by a friend last month. He said he was not injured.
OLEMA - A Santa Rosa man left his wallet in a store, which turned the wallet over to deputies for safekeeping. The wallet contained credit cards and $1.
BOLINAS - A woman at 8:20 p.m. complained that two to six people in a white motorhome were parked at Brighton and Park avenues. She said one man was urinating in the street. A deputy later reported the motorhome had moved on.
BOLINAS - A woman reported losing a cellular phone on Wharf Road the previous night.
STINSON BEACH - Deputies at 10:15 a.m. received an anonymous complaint that 15 juveniles were on the beach at Calle del Sierra, lighting off fireworks and drinking alcohol. A deputy checked but found no drinking or fireworks.
POINT REYES STATION - A man lost his fanny pack on the main street. He told deputies it contained various items, including a cigarette lighter made of silver.
WOODACRE - A Hill Avenue resident notified deputies at noon that two 11 year olds had just set off a fire bomb in his driveway. When he yelled at them, they took off running. The pair were gone when a deputy arrived.
BOLINAS - A deputy on Wharf Road at 12:40 p.m. helped an elderly man find his car and helped him load his groceries.
DILLON BEACH - A woman at 1:30 p.m. accused five people in a sports utility vehicle of trying to leave a resort without paying. A deputy determined that the five had paid in advance and that no crime had occurred.
OLEMA - A woman reported that a man, 47, with a history of high blood pressure had taken medicine from her the previous night in St. Helena. She said he called her from jail the next morning, sounding incoherent.
BOLINAS - A homeless man at 4:10 p.m. asked medics to respond when a friend came down with poison oak. Deputies, who noted that county medics do not dispense medicine, also received an earlier complaint that the homeless man was being belligerent.
STINSON BEACH - A woman at 4:50 p.m. complained about several unleashed dogs swimming in Bolinas Lagoon. Although this is a violation of county law, she was afraid to tell the dogs' owners, she said. A deputy could not find the dogs - or even a ranger.
BOLINAS - A Mesa Road woman at 7 p.m. complained about several vehicles parked on her long driveway and a 20 year old lying in the bushes halfway up the driveway. The problems ended before a deputy arrived.
DILLON BEACH - A man at 6:45 p.m. reported that 15 to 20 rowdy juveniles were wrestling and throwing bottles. He said the group was "not fighting, but the situation is escalating."
BOLINAS - Deputies at 8:15 p.m. received reports of fireworks on Wharf Road. They checked the area and found no crime occurring.
DILLON BEACH - A deputy at 9:35 p.m. abated a disturbance at a campground gate.
STINSON BEACH - A man notified deputies that his juvenile son was on the beach confronting several groups of juveniles who were setting off fireworks, one of which landed in his mother's hair. She was not injured.
MARSHALL - A woman at 10:45 p.m. complained about fireworks along Highway 1. The Sheriff's Office had no patrolcars available to respond, and no further complaints were received.
STINSON BEACH - A man along Highway 1 was injured by a large firecracker and taken to Marin General Hospital, the hospital's emergency room reported at 11:15 p.m.
BOLINAS - A man reported that a 25-year-old woman, who had been drinking, had gone into the ocean at Brighton Beach. One witness said the woman was suicidal.
FOREST KNOLLS - A Guadalupe Place resident at 12:35 a.m. complained that five juveniles were setting off fireworks in the town park. The Sheriff's Office had no patrolcars available to respond, and no further complaints were received.
BOLINAS - San Mateo Police notified deputies in West Marin that a 32-year-old woman was missing after traveling to the area for a hike in the park.
BOLINAS - A man on Ocean Parkway at 3:25 a.m. complained that three to five people in a hot tub were being very loud. He said this is an ongoing problem and he wants them to quiet down. A deputy contacted the host, who agreed to take his party inside.
DILLON BEACH - A woman in a campground at 4:10 a.m. complained about a "mob" of people in their 20s holding a loud party, probably with alcohol involved. A deputy advised the "mob" to quiet down.
DILLON BEACH - The Highway Patrol notified deputies at 5 a.m. that it had received an anonymous complaint about a large group of juveniles drinking and making noise on Cypress Avenue. The man, whom the CHP described as "hostile," said there were numerous cars in the area.
DILLON BEACH - A woman at a campground said a group of campers were unable to leave their campsite because another camper was harassing them. She said she didn't know if the camper was carrying any weapon although he was waving something over his head.
FOREST KNOLLS - An anonymous caller notified deputies that a pack of dogs was attacking a fawn at the north end of Hildago Avenue. Deputies informed the Humane Society about the call but could not find the dogs.
POINT REYES STATION - A man reported losing a black leather jacket containing a wallet while in a bar.
STINSON BEACH - A man rode his bicycle over the hill from East Marin but began "acting weird" once he reached town. Fire department medics examined him and concluded he was not insane.
BOLINAS - Deputies at 1 p.m. received a complaint that a motorist on Brighton Avenue was throwing things from his vehicle and that an Inverness Park woman in the back of his vehicle was very drunk.
LAGUNITAS - A woman living on Barranca Road said 10 friends of her daughter had shown up at their house looking for a party. She said the group destroyed her home's driveway lights, damaged rugs and floors in the house, and took a stereo. She asked deputies to advise her as to her options.
BOLINAS - A store clerk at 3 p.m. notified deputies there was an unwanted customer in the business. However, the clerk did not speak much English, and the customer was gone before a deputy arrived.
BOLINAS - A child was transported to a hospital by ambulance after falling off a slide behind the community center and injuring his neck. A helicopter showed up to transport the child but was not used.
DILLON BEACH - A woman on Cliff Street reported at 4 p.m. that she had watched a truck come to her residence twice and steal two large stumps from her yard. One of her neighbors also complained to deputies about broken glass in the street.
BOLINAS - An anonymous caller at 6:30 p.m. reported several drunken juveniles were walking on Wharf Road. A deputy went to check the area.
BOLINAS - A woman at 6:45 p.m. reported having firecrackers thrown at her. When they exploded, they burned her and her clothing, she said. The culprit fled in a white 1988 Datsun.
BOLINAS - A merchant on Wharf Road at 1:30 p.m. complained that people with a camper had set up camp in front of her business and stayed the night. She said she wanted them advised that county law does not allow camping in town. A deputy later reported there was "no merit" to her complaint.
BOLINAS - An anonymous caller complained that five boys were yelling and throwing water balloons at Brighton and Park avenues at 6:45 p.m.
DILLON BEACH - A vandal damaged a Kailua Way man's antenna dish and sprayed graffiti on his back fence.
DILLON BEACH - The Highway Patrol forwarded a complaint from a woman who said a drunk man was starting to get out of control. She said four adults were trying to calm him down, but she wanted a deputy to help.
INVERNESS - A merchant found a Petaluma man's wallet containing cash and credit cards. However, when deputies tried to reach the man, they learned he had moved to Modesto. Officers then notified Modesto Police.
DILLON BEACH - A man reported that six adults and one 17 year old were missing after going boating. Deputies notified the Coast Guard.
STINSON BEACH - A woman at 10:30 p.m. complained about people setting off cherry bombs on the beach at Calle del Sierra.
DILLON BEACH - A woman at 10:35 p.m. complained about people in the street setting off bottle rockets.
DILLON BEACH - A deputy at 12:50 a.m. arrested a man on Cypress Avenue and jailed him on charges of public drunkenness.
BOLINAS - A woman at Brighton and Park avenues at 12:50 a.m. complained about people setting off fireworks. She later called back and said she wanted them arrested because they were breaking the law and disturbing her sleep. She called a third time to say the group was now ringing a church bell.
STINSON BEACH - A woman at 3 a.m. reported a vehicle ran off Highway 1 and into Bolinas Lagoon.
WOODACRE - A landlord reported that a thief stole several no-trespassing signs posted on his rental property.
BOLINAS - A man at 4:40 a.m. complained of people sleeping in a car and van on Wharf Road.
POINT REYES STATION - A Highway 1 resident reported a vandal had smashed his car's window. A deputy determined there had been no vandalism and that the damage was possibly accidental.
WOODACRE - An Ivy Lane resident complained about young people having a noisy party and about speeding vehicles. All was quiet when a deputy arrived.
DILLON BEACH - A campground reported that two carloads of people were refusing to leave the gate even though the campground was full.
PT. REYES-PETALUMA ROAD - Deputies received a report of three boys and one girl walking east along the road at 1 a.m. A deputy could not find them.
STINSON BEACH - Deputies received a report that a car had hit a deer on Highway 1 and that the animal was struggling on the roadway. Officers notified the Humane Society but then canceled the call when the animal died.
SAN GERONIMO - A resident complained about construction noise next to the cultural center beginning at 6:15 a.m. for the past two days.
FOREST KNOLLS - A man reported a drunk was passed out on a bench in the town park. He said drinking in the park is an ongoing problem and that the park is littered with beer bottles.
POINT REYES STATION - A man complained to deputies about juveniles in a Thunderbird car speeding and spinning donuts. He said he could not identify them but that some of them live on Lorraine Avenue. A deputy gave him advice.
July 1, 1999 Sheriff's Calls
BOLINAS - A deputy on Wharf Road cited a man to appear before the district attorney for prosecution.
SAN GERONIMO - A man reported that vandals had damaged several golf carts, driving one of them into a pond and one of them into a tree.
INVERNESS - A man cleaning a closet in the yacht club found 15 rounds of .380 ammunition and six rounds of 30-06 ammo. He turned the ammunition over to a deputy for destruction.
TOMALES - A man reported an emotionally disturbed friend was smashing the man's pickup truck with a sledge hammer. A deputy later checked on the friend's condition and determined he was not a danger to himself.
POINT REYES STATION - A man reported his license plate was stolen from his vehicle while it was parked in downtown Inverness.
STINSON BEACH - A Kentfield woman reported her car was broken into while it was parked near the end of Calle del Arroyo. A cellular phone and 85 CDs were stolen.
INVERNESS PARK - A woman on Portola Avenue reported her phone lines were bad and that Pacific Bell needed a report to fix them. A deputy took a report. The woman also reported being harassed by a neighbor. Several days later, another woman on Portola Avenue reported the first woman had trespassed on her property and pulled plants out of the ground. The first woman then opened a garage door, went inside, and refused to leave. The second woman said she will ask a court to issue a restraining order against the first woman.
MARSHALL - A man reported that a $3,000 outboard motor had been stolen from a skiff moored offshore.
BOLINAS - A deputy at Park and Brighton avenues cited a man to appear in court on five charges of driving with a suspended license.
MARSHALL - A man turned in an old, rusty pistol for destruction.
BOLINAS - A woman on Wharf Road said a man slapped her, bit her nose, and threatened to throw her parrot outside. The man left on foot, and deputies could not find him. He later told an officer the woman "is way out of line."
OLEMA - A Highway Patrolman reported a motorist driving a yellow Cadillac had stolen liquor.
CHILENO VALLEY - A resident notified deputies that a man and woman in a van had disturbed the resident's sister and then left. The resident said the man was rumored to be carrying a pistol. The resident said he would ask a court for a restraining order against the second man.
STINSON BEACH - A man at midnight complained about a couple of kids on the beach with a bonfire. A deputy found a small group sitting quietly and determined there was no violation of the law.
MUIR BEACH - A woman reported finding a man in his 60s breaking into her car and ransacking it. She said the man, who sported a mustache and a white hat, admitted he was a burglar and then drove off in a white Mitsubishi Mirage.
STINSON BEACH - An innkeeper complained about excessive noise coming from allegedly permit-less construction. A deputy gave him advice.
SAN GERONIMO - A motorist reported a man was hitchhiking in the middle of Sir Francis Drake Boulevard at 8:30 p.m., causing drivers to swerve to avoid him. A deputy could not find the man.
STINSON BEACH - A woman at 10:15 p.m. complained about a bonfire on the beach at Calle del Arroyo and Calle del Onda. She said the fire was too close to her house and that a man was burning chairs and yelling at women in the area. She also said he had taken off a white sweatshirt and was burning it too.
BOLINAS - A woman complained about people staying in a van parked on Wharf Road, but when a deputy tried to approach the vehicle, he found it was guarded by a large dog. The van was gone by morning.
LAGUNITAS - A man complained about adults with small children swimming at the Ink Wells which, he said, are on his property. He wanted deputies to ask them to leave. Officers noted the problem is ongoing and would advise the trespassers.
DILLON BEACH - A rear license plate was stolen off a vehicle.
NATIONAL SEASHORE - A vehicle ran into a ditch on Pierce Point at 10 p.m. No one was injured.
OLEMA - Deputies at 10:30 p.m. received a complaint that 25 to 30 wedding guests were drunk beside Highway 1 and refusing to calm down. Deputies were told the situation was "not out of hand" and that the group just needed to be told to calm down. They were gone when an officer arrived.
STINSON BEACH - A man on Avenida Olema at 11:15 p.m. complained about a loud party that had been underway since 7 p.m. People on a deck were screaming and drinking, he said. A deputy contacted the partygoers, who agreed to keep the noise down.
BOLINAS - A woman complained about eight people sleeping in a van and about a woman with a fire on the beach. She said that when she told the woman fires were not allowed on the beach, the woman was verbally abusive. The woman also complained about loud music from the van.
OLEMA - A man at 12:25 a.m. complained about a loud party of drunks along Highway 1. A deputy asked the partygoers to keep the noise down.
BOLINAS - A Brighton Avenue woman at 1 a.m. complained about 20 to 40 loud people between the beach and the tennis courts. She said some of them were drag racing. A deputy found teenagers on the beach but no reckless driving.
BOLINAS - A resident at 1:30 a.m. complained about three young adults making noise at Brighton Avenue and Wharf Road.
DILLON BEACH - A man at 3:45 a.m. complained about a small group of noisy juveniles. He said that when he asked them to quiet down, he got no cooperation.
BOLINAS - A man at 10 p.m. reported a woman on Wharf Road was yelling, "Call the police." She said her boyfriend, who was walking behind her, had just slit her tires.
STINSON BEACH - A Sacramento Patio man at 9 p.m. reported three males had a fire on the beach and were burning stereo equipment. The three were gone when an officer arrived.
INVERNESS - A woman at 4 a.m. asked a deputy to help resolve an argument with her husband. She said no weapons or alcohol were involved. Nor had he hurt her or threatened to.
LAGUNITAS - A westbound car carrying two women ran off Sir Francis Drake Boulevard at 3:40 a.m. No one was injured.
BOLINAS - A Hawthorne Road man complained about a neighbor's playing loud music. A deputy left a message on the neighbor's answering machine.
MUIR BEACH - A man took prescription pills away from his son upon the advice of the son's doctor. Despite an initial dispute, a deputy later reported the two "are quiet now."
FOREST KNOLLS - A resident reported that a 30-year-old man carrying a container of liquid and leading a dog on a leash was at the bottom of the resident's driveway. The resident said the man could not explain why he was there, but he kept leaving and returning - sometimes running.
POINT REYES STATION - Two girls home alone at 1 a.m. reported that someone was ringing their doorbell and that they had locked themselves in a bedroom with a shotgun.
