July 31, 2003 Sheriff's Calls

LUCAS VALLEY ROAD – A supervisor from the county corporation yard in Nicasio last Wednesday afternoon came upon a Tiburon-based tree service dumping debris beside a pullout. The Public Works supervisor ordered the tree-service crew not to leave until a deputy arrived. The deputy who responded said much of the debris came from palms along Bridgeway in Sausalito and described the prickly trimmings as "nasty stuff." Also dumped was yard waste and pieces of paper. The company was charged with unlawful dumping, a misdemeanor that carries a minimum fine of $250.

LAGUNITAS – The postoffice last week reported a 19-year-old man "asked for mail and lost control when told there was none," deputies reported. The man "said he was not going to leave before he got it," deputies quoted postoffice staff as saying. A deputy, who noted the young man has a history of mental problems, warned him not to return to the postoffice and behave as he had done. At 7:54 a.m. last Thursday, however, a 19-year-old worker in Olema told deputies she had been groped by the man. A deputy cited him on charges of sexual assault and released him to his guardian.

TOMALES – A county fire department captain at 10:24 a.m. last Thursday notified deputies he had found a man’s wallet on Dillon Beach Road in front of the firehouse.

WOODACRE – A Central Avenue resident at 8:37 p.m. Friday reported that one or more vandals used lipstick and marker pens to write obscenities on her parked vehicle.

STINSON BEACH – A woman at 6 p.m. July 22 complained that another woman had made $7,000 worth of unauthorized chargers on her credit card. The first woman told deputies she had merely given the second woman permission to use her card to stay at a motel.

WOODACRE – A Railroad Avenue resident at 8:25 a.m. Sunday reported $1,200 had been stolen from his vehicle.

FOREST KNOLLS – A man at 8:20 p.m. Monday complained to deputies that after he had bought some beer, a boy about 17 on Montezuma Avenue repeatedly asked for some. The man told deputies that when he refused to give the boy any beer, the youth warned, "I know what your car looks like."

STINSON BEACH – A resident at 8:54 p.m. Monday reported being pushed by a 29-year-old male friend.

STINSON BEACH – The Highway Patrol at 10:11 p.m. Monday reported a truck had gone over a cliff in the vicinity of Highway 1 and Panoramic Highway. Officers said no one was injured.

BOLINAS – A man on Wharf Road at 8:14 a.m. Monday reported a $600 mountain bicycle had been stolen from the bed of his pickup truck.

POINT REYES STATION – As a deputy was parking on the main street at 1:35 p.m. Monday, his patrolcar bumped a parked car belonging to a rental company. The rental car was scratched. There was no damage to the patrolcar.

STINSON BEACH – A man at 2:18 p.m. Monday reported a burglar had tried to break into a Seadrift Road house by prying open a set of double doors. The break-in was not successful, but the doors were damaged.

POINT REYES STATION – A Tomasini Canyon Road businessman on Monday afternoon notified deputies he was detaining five youths because they had vandalized a window.

SAMUEL TAYLOR PARK – A woman at 3:49 p.m. Monday notified deputies that $500 in travelers’ checks, her American Express card, and $150 in cash had been stolen from her vehicle.

BOLINAS – A party boat company in Emeryville at 3:12 p.m. Friday notified deputies that the party boat fleet had received threats that fishermen here were going to shoot at their boats. The sports-fishing company said it had notified the Coast Guard and asked for extra patrols from deputies. Three days later, a West Marin man called deputies, saying he had learned second hand that there might be a shooting.

WOODACRE – A man at 5:41 p.m. Monday reported that a caretaker had been intoxicated when she arrived for work and was fired. However, he said, she was refusing to leave.

BOLINAS – After a person had an allergic reaction to nuts, medics responded to Wharf Road at 7:52 p.m. Sunday. The victim, who was having difficulty breathing, was taken to a hospital by helicopter.

WOODACRE – A woman at 8:32 p.m. Sunday said she had received a message from her fiancee on her answering machine, and he was screaming. She said that on the phone message, which was recorded at 6 p.m., he sounded as if he were being assaulted or robbed.

OLEMA – Deputies and medics responded Sunday evening when an 18-year-old girl outside a store had an allergic reaction to peanuts. A deputy reported her face had broken out in hives; her throat was swollen; and she was having trouble breathing.

SAMUEL TAYLOR PARK – A woman at 9:35 p.m. Sunday reported her wallet had been stolen from the trunk of her vehicle. A citizen on Fairfax’s Rock Ridge Road later found the wallet in a ditch. With it was what appeared to be loot from other burglaries, such as handbags and Social Security cards.

INVERNESS – A Pine Hill Road resident at 10:07 p.m. Sunday reported being disturbed by loud music from somewhere north of Woodhaven Road. He said that when he found the people responsible for the music and complained, a dispute broke out. He said he believed one of the people had followed him home and had just pulled into his driveway.

NICASIO – A man at 3:55 a.m. Monday notified deputies that it sounded like a motorist was spinning donuts on Nicasio Valley Road near the county corporation yard. A deputy found tire marks typical of an "exhibition of speed," but the motorist was gone.

INVERNESS – A Sir Francis Drake Boulevard merchant at 10:20 a.m. Sunday reported a $1,400 kayak had been stolen about 4 a.m. She described the boat as a "Sealution2," light green and 17 feet long.

SAMUEL TAYLOR PARK – A woman at 12:47 p.m. Sunday reported a burglar had broken into her locked car while it was parked along the Devil’s Gulch fireroad. Taken along with her wallet were credit cards and cash.

BOLINAS – A man at 3:31 p.m. Sunday complained that several vehicles were "blatantly illegally parked" downtown. A deputy ticketed two vehicles on charges of illegal parking.

INVERNESS PARK – A man at 4:53 p.m. Sunday complained that two young men drinking beer were harassing and threatening people downtown. The two were gone when a deputy arrived. Merchants described the pair as simply "rowdy."

WOODACRE – A deputy on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard at 7:59 p.m. Saturday cited a motorist for driving with a suspended license. However, rather than impounding the car which is common in such circumstances, the officer released it to another adult who was licensed because "there were small children aboard."

DILLON BEACH – A camper at 9:50 p.m. Saturday complained that someone had been setting off "quite a few" bottle rockets. However, she could not determine where they were coming from because the fireworks were "sporadic."

BOLINAS – A deputy on Wharf Road at 11:13 p.m. Saturday took custody of a drunken woman. While he was driving her to a detoxification center, she became nauseated riding up Olema Hill, and he had to briefly stop the patrolcar.

NICASIO – A citizen at midnight Saturday reported a vandal had let the air out of tires on several cars parked at the square.

WOODACRE – A Redwood Drive resident at 1:52 a.m. Sunday complained that a group of youths were in the street near her window, making noise. They were gone when a deputy arrived.

DILLON BEACH – A woman at 10:13 p.m. Friday asked a deputy to make a camper shut off his loud generator. An officer abated the problem.

DILLON BEACH – A merchant on Friday reported a 65-year-old man, who’d possibly had a stroke, was sitting in his car. He was having difficulty talking, she said. A deputy noted that the man has no history of strokes but is diabetic. Because of limited visibility, a rescue helicopter could not land, and the man had to be transported to a hospital by ambulance.

SAN GERONIMO – A man at 8:27 p.m. Friday complained about motorists speeding in the area of Lagunitas School and Montezuma roads. He said speeders have already killed his cat and his neighbor’s cat. A deputy gave him advice.

MARSHALL – A tenant on a ranch at 7:55 a.m. Friday complained about trucks arriving all night, saying they keep her from sleeping. The ranch manager at 10:28 a.m. told deputies he was having trouble with a trucking company.

STINSON BEACH – A woman at 8:06 a.m. Friday reported a large buck had been injured in traffic at Highway 1 and Arenal Avenue. The Humane Society authorized a deputy to shoot the deer to put it out of its misery. Despite being shot twice, however, the buck did not die, and the officer reported that the shooting was beginning to draw a crowd and was only 100 feet from homes. The deer was finally killed.

FALLON – A Whitaker Bluff Road resident at 12:04 p.m. Friday reported that lightning had started a fire. A deputy who responded reported there was "lots of lightning, but [he was] unable to locate any fire."

BOLINAS – A merchant at 2:16 p.m. Friday complained that derelicts on Wharf Road are turning the downtown "into a shanty village." A deputy moved several homeless people along.

BOLINAS – A woman at 5:06 p.m. Friday complained that four or five people had been drinking all day long in the vicinity of Brighton Avenue and Wharf Road. A deputy took a man, 58, and a woman, 45, to a detoxification center.

TOMALES – A Tomales-Petaluma Road resident at 2:03 p.m. Sunday reported that after her donkey was missing for four days, it had been located in Petaluma. However, she said, the woman who now has the donkey is not cooperating in its return. She asked for advice.

NICASIO – A man at 8:28 p.m. last Thursday came upon a man who had slit one wrist with a knife 9 hours earlier and was now lying on the ground beside his truck. The San Anselmo man apparently attempted suicide on the shore of Nicasio Reservoir and had eventually walked back to his truck. Deputies were told the victim was still awake but not very alert. By the time the victim was found, he had stopped bleeding. He was taken to the crisis unit at Marin General Hospital. Deputies found his knife near the water.

MARSHALL – A man at 8:44 p.m. last Thursday notified deputies that his 27-year-old son was trying to break into his home. He said the boy and his mother had quarreled earlier and that the son was drunk. The son eventually returned to his own home.

OLEMA – A motorist at 9:15 p.m. last Thursday notified deputies he had almost struck a pedestrian who was standing in the middle of Sir Francis Drake Boulevard in "pitch dark." A deputy could not find any man on the road.

POINT REYES STATION – A bartender at 9:57 p.m. last Thursday notified deputies that when she refused to sell a man any more drinks, he got angry and threw a bottle at her. She said the man then fled on a skateboard, heading south on Highway 1 toward Olema. A deputy could not find the intoxicated skateboarder.

WOODACRE – A Carson Road resident at 7:19 p.m. last Thursday complained of receiving a harassing phone call from her neighbor regarding a property dispute. A deputy determined there had been no harassment. The neighbor had merely left a message on her answering machine, saying that he intended to write county government regarding a railroad tie removed by her.

WOODACRE – A Redwood Drive resident at 10:44 p.m. last Thursday reported that for three weeks youths have been partying and sleeping in a nearby gully. He asked if this could be stopped.

WOODACRE – Deputies at 8:30 p.m. last Thursday received a report of a traffic accident on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard.

INVERNESS PARK – A car hit and killed a deer on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard near Drake’s View Drive at 7 a.m. last Thursday.

WOODACRE – A Redwood Drive resident at 1:07 a.m. last Thursday complained about noise from a party. A deputy, who located the party, found "young adults, very cooperative, [who] agreed to turn off the music, go inside, and close the doors and windows." However, the resident called back at 3:19 a.m. to say that although the party was winding down, "a male was in the street screaming, swearing, and yelling." The man was gone when a deputy arrived.

TOMALES – A bus converted for private travel ran out of gas on Highway 1 at 8:34 p.m. July 22, partly obstructing the roadway.

BOLINAS – A Birch Road resident at 11:23 p.m. July 22 reported hearing strange noises upstairs that might be coming from a person. She said the noises sounded like a bouncing ball.

NICASIO – A Lucas Valley Road resident at 11:36 p.m. July 22 complained about loud construction noise from people building sets for a movie being shot in town.

NICASIO – The Highway Patrol at 4:27 a.m. last Wednesday forwarded a report of a car fire on Lucas Valley Road, but deputies could not find it.

BOLINAS – A man at 2:28 p.m. July 22 reported an eight-foot-long great white shark was offshore of Bolinas Beach and that numerous people were in the water. A deputy checked the beach and reported, "Negative on any sightings."

NATIONAL SEASHORE – Medics responded at 2:57 p.m. July 22 when a man reported that a 10-year-old girl had fallen down several stairs, injuring her foot.

POINT REYES STATION – Sheriff’s Lt. Rich Ginnodo, commander of the West Marin Substation, has asked The Light to let readers know that a campaign to remove abandoned cars is underway in West Marin. Lt. Ginnodo said the Sheriff’s Office will arrange to have abandoned vehicles towed off private property, as well as public property, if the landowner signs a release. The substation’s phone number is 663-1151.

 

July 24, 2003 Sheriff's Calls

BOLINAS – A Brighton Avenue resident at 1:20 p.m. July 15 notified deputies that someone had stolen a surfboard and three wetsuits from her deck. She later told deputies she had found the surfboard at the end of Wharf Road but had not recovered the wetsuits.

SAMUEL TAYLOR PARK – A ranger at 7:02 p.m. Monday requested a backup in dealing with an unlicensed driver who was possibly drunk. The Highway Patrol sent an officer to assist her.

NICASIO – A Nicasio Valley Road resident at 8:53 p.m. Monday notified deputies that a 50-year-old woman had taken an overdose of an unknown medication. Deputies said they could hear in the background of the call the man yelling at the woman, who was refusing to identify the medicine.

FOREST KNOLLS – A caller at 9:56 p.m. Monday reported hearing a female voice, which sounded drunk, yelling obscenities in the vicinity of Forest Drive and Montezuma Road. The caller said she could "barely hear a male voice" and that her daughter thought the male voice was coming from a television.

BOLINAS – Medics responded at 2:34 a.m. Tuesday when a 91-year-old woman fell and cut her lower leg. She also reported back pain.

POINT REYES STATION – A Third Street resident at 10:16 a.m. Monday reported receiving harassing calls from her estranged husband. He had threatened to "throw all her belongings on the street," a deputy quoted her as saying.

WOODACRE – A San Geronimo Valley Drive resident at 12:11 p.m. Monday notified deputies that she and her mother have been receiving harassing calls from another woman. The resident said they had just received two more calls. A deputy gave her advice.

OLEMA – A deputy at 7:39 a.m. Sunday found three Holsteins loose on Highway 1 in the Olema Valley. He herded them off the road but could not locate their owner.

DILLON BEACH – A woman at 10:15 a.m. Sunday complained that "loud music" and "vulgar" language could be heard coming from another campsite around 1:30 a.m. A deputy gave advice to both parties.

TOMALES – A merchant at 11:05 a.m. Sunday complained that a drunk man in his 40s, who had been panhandling earlier, was now harassing customers. He was gone when a deputy arrived.

WOODACRE – Medics were summoned at 11:34 a.m. Sunday when an elderly woman with a history of heart problems lost consciousness. She subsequently regained consciousness.

TOMALES – A Highway 1 resident at 2:21 p.m. Sunday told deputies a man had shown up claiming to be a relative. When she refused to let him see her 85-year-old mother, "he became belligerent to [the caller] and told her he was going to come back and blow their heads off," a deputy quoted the woman as saying. The woman told officers the man, who is in his 50s, was driving a white Pontiac stationwagon.

BOLINAS – An Olema-Bolinas Road resident at 3:28 notified deputies that four kayakers were disturbing seals. A deputy found the kayakers that the woman mentioned were behaving and that a large colony of seals appeared fine.

STINSON BEACH – A man at 6:58 p.m. Sunday reported his car parked along Highway 1 had been stolen.

SAMUEL TAYLOR PARK – A young driver crashed his vehicle just east of Irving Bridge at 7:17 p.m. Saturday. The vehicle’s airbags deployed, and he was not hurt, a deputy reported.

BOLINAS – A Brighton Avenue resident at 8:39 p.m. Saturday reported seeing 10 people going down to the beach with tents and wood for fires. Another man subsequently reported fires on the beach. Camping is not allowed on Bolinas Beach during summer weekends and holidays, and deputies told the people to put out their fires. He also cited several cars on charges of illegal parking.

DILLON BEACH – Deputies at 9:52 p.m. Saturday responded to a report of domestic violence underway at a campsite.

DILLON BEACH – A woman on Marine View Drive at 10:55 p.m. Saturday complained that 15 young people were making too much noise, screaming and waking up people. She said that other campers had asked the group to quiet down, but they refused. A deputy located a group of 18 to 25 year olds "playing a loud game." He warned them to be quiet or they would be "kicked out" of the campground.

STINSON BEACH – A Highway 1 resident at 11:19 p.m. Saturday complained that there were 10 people on the beach with illegal campfires. Deputies notified US Park Police, which said the fires were within the Sheriff’s Department’s jurisdiction. A deputy directed the people to extinguish their fires.

BOLINAS – A Brighton Avenue resident at 12:53 a.m. Sunday reported hearing people fighting – or just being loud drunks – outside her window. She said there were male and female voices and that she may have heard glass breaking.

BOLINAS – A Wharf Road resident at 1:21 a.m. Sunday complained about "very loud music" at the community center. A deputy who responded to the call found a band playing its last song and people dispersing.

STINSON BEACH – Medics at 10:56 a.m. Saturday treated a person for anaphylactic shock and provided transportation to a hospital.

STINSON BEACH – Medics responded when a man at 12:38 p.m. Saturday reported that a hiker in his mid-60s had cut his right arm.

STINSON BEACH – Medics were called to Calle del Mar at 2:33 p.m. Saturday after someone was scraped in a fall at the postoffice.

BOLINAS – An Olema-Bolinas Road resident at 2:56 p.m. Saturday complained that an apparently homeless man and two dogs had been living downtown in a white van for three days. He was gone when a deputy arrived.

NICASIO – An equestrian riding in the jumping ring of a stable on Nicasio Valley Road fell off her horse and landed on a pole. The 49-year-old woman was able to move her hands and feet after the accident but could not walk. She complained of pain in her back. Medics transported her by ambulance to a hospital.

BOLINAS – Medics responded to a restaurant at 6:26 p.m. Saturday when an 18-year-old girl was brought there after passing out on the beach. The girl subsequently regained consciousness but kept shivering. Deputies were told she had been swimming in the ocean all day.

STINSON BEACH – A Calle de la Sierra resident at 10:12 p.m. Friday complained of being disturbed by fireworks.

PLATFORM BRIDGE – A deputy at 2:47 a.m. Saturday found a man and woman camping in their van and warned them vehicular camping is illegal in Marin except in designated campgrounds. The couple cleaned up their trash and moved on.

DILLON BEACH – A man on Marine View Drive at 4:17 a.m. Saturday complained that a group of people at one campsite were drunk and screaming. The man subsequently reported the group had stopped making noise, but their fire was still burning. A deputy confirmed the disturbance had been abated prior to his arrival, perhaps because the "subjects [were] all passed out."

STINSON BEACH – An resident at 5:26 a.m. Saturday notified deputies that a man and woman were having a verbal fight in the middle of Arenal Avenue. She said the woman was in a vehicle, and the man was "walking up and down the street yelling at her." Finally the woman drove off. A deputy, who contacted the man, reported he was "cooperative and said he’d had an argument with his girlfriend." The officer added that the man was "going to walk back to Mill Valley."

LAGUNITAS – A resident at 8:49 p.m. Friday reported that her neighbors had been fighting off and on for an hour in the middle of Sir Francis Drake Boulevard. She also reported that the man was yelling at another neighbor. Deputies quoted the resident as saying the man, who "calls himself Jesus Christ," had "had his girlfriend on the ground." The couple were now in front of a business, with him still yelling at her, the resident said, adding that another neighbor had gone outside to protect the girlfriend. A deputy arrested the boyfriend on charges of domestic violence, contempt of court, and violating probation.

FOREST KNOLLS – A Guadalupe Place resident at 9:32 a.m. Friday reported receiving an harassing call the previous day and two more that day from a telemarketer. "They have become threatening in nature," a deputy quoted her as saying.

FOREST KNOLLS – A Rosario Road resident reported his neighbors’ daughter had slapped him in the face over a property dispute. He said he then pulled her to the ground and that they subsequently separated. A deputy said neither person wanted to press charges, so the incident was written off to "mutual combat."

FOREST KNOLLS – A Montezuma Avenue business at 3:56 p.m. Friday complained that a roofer had parked a tar pot next to his building. He said he feared that heat from the pot would set the building on fire. Firefighters responded.

WOODACRE – A Central Avenue resident at 5:52 p.m. Friday reported a 76-year-old woman had fallen. The extent of her injuries was unknown, he said, but she was "in a lot of pain."

STINSON BEACH – An employee at 12:57 p.m. Friday reported that someone had entered a Highway 1 business and taken property. He suspected the culprit was an ex-employee with a key. A deputy determined that the business is no longer in operation and that the property belonged to the suspect and was taken legally.

STINSON BEACH – A Calle del Arroyo resident at 10:03 a.m. Friday told deputies she suspected one of her cats had been poisoned, although it survived. A deputy referred her to the Humane Society.

STINSON BEACH – An Arenal Avenue resident at 3:01 p.m. Friday told deputies she and a 47-year-old man she had previously dated had gotten into a fight the previous week. She said no one was injured, and deputies concluded it was a case of "mutual combat."

INVERNESS – Deputies at 3:28 p.m. Friday received a report that a sailboat had overturned offshore and two people were in the water offshore of the Golden Hinde Marina. Officers were told an attempt was underway to rescue them by boat. Eventually the two were pulled out of Tomales Bay, and their sailboat was recovered. The only injury was to one sailor’s hand.

BOLINAS – An Olema-Bolinas Road businessman at 7:03 a.m. last Thursday reported burglars stole 18 cases of wine worth $3,900 from two storage trailers on his property. The burglars broke the trailers’ locks, he said.

STINSON BEACH – A woman at 12:13 p.m. Friday notified deputies that her vehicle was broken into while it was parked along Highway 1.

OLEMA – A camper at 10:01 p.m. last Wednesday told deputies that someone at another campsite was smoking marijuana although she was not sure which campsite. A deputy could not find anything amiss.

WOODACRE – A vandal took large rocks from in front of a Railroad Avenue residence and spread them across the street, creating a traffic hazard, the resident told deputies at 8:15 p.m. last Wednesday. She noted that firefighters would remove the rocks but asked for extra patrols in the area.

POINT REYES STATION – A B Street resident at 10:37 a.m. last Wednesday reported a vandal had used a fire extinguisher to spray the bathroom of her house. There was no permanent damage, and nothing was stolen she said.

WOODACRE – A resident at 12:04 p.m. last Wednesday reported getting a call from a merchant who told her one of her checks had been returned by the bank because of a stop-payment order. The woman said she did not write the check and believes some of her checks were stolen in Novato.

INVERNESS – An Inverness Way resident at 2:05 p.m. last Wednesday complained of loud music in the area for two hours. She said it was an ongoing problem. All was quiet when a deputy arrived.

July 17, 2003 Sheriff's Calls

SAMUEL TAYLOR PARK – A state park ranger at 10:32 p.m. Monday notified deputies that a drunk man "with a cane" was "near the kiosk running toward Sir Francis Drake Boulevard." The man was vomiting and saying he wanted to "kill someone," she reported.

SAN GERONIMO – The owner of a construction company at 7:15 a.m. Monday reported that a large amount of tools had been stolen from a Nicasio Valley Road worksite.

NICASIO – A resident at 2 p.m. July 8 reported someone was fraudulently using the resident’s ATM card.

BOLINAS – The Humane Society at 7:58 p.m. Monday asked that a deputy look for a fawn that had been struck in traffic on Highway 1 near Audubon Canyon Ranch. A deputy found the fawn "still alive, not hurt too bad."

POINT REYES STATION – A man at 9:12 p.m. Monday reported losing his keys near the sheriff’s substation.

DILLON BEACH – A deputy at 8:20 p.m. Saturday cited a motorist on charges of driving with a suspended license.

POINT REYES STATION – A man at 11:30 a.m. July 8 reported losing his wallet.

STINSON BEACH – A Calle de la Sierra resident at 2 p.m. July 8 told me he was upset by all the crowds in town.

BOLINAS – A man at 10:59 p.m. Monday called deputies from Terrace Avenue to say an $800 Nikon camera had been stolen from his vehicle. The theft occurred about 5 p.m. while the vehicle was being loaded, he said.

LAGUNITAS – A resident at 8:21 a.m. Monday reported hearing three gunshots coming from the top of Mount Barnabe. She said a neighbor had heard a fourth shot coming from Mountain King Road, which leads to the top of the mountain.

MARSHALL – A man called deputies from a Highway 1 address at 9:43 a.m. Monday to report a small skiff was "lodged" under his dock. He said that during the night the rowboat had broken free elsewhere and that he feared the boat would damage his dock.

INVERNESS PARK – Deputies and a Portola Avenue resident this week were looking for a white vehicle with a maroon paint transfer. The woman at 10:07 a.m. Monday reported a hit-run motorist had struck her maroon-colored Honda, knocking off part of a foglight and leaving white paint on her car.

POINT REYES STATION – A Mesa Road resident at 6:13 p.m. Monday told deputies a "large, wolf-type dog" had attacked his daughter. She was not injured, he said, but the dog also attacked his own dog, injuring it. He said he would shoot the dog but did not know where it was at the moment.

CHILENO VALLEY – A resident at 8:35 p.m. Monday told deputies that his wife had punched her son-in-law, giving him a "fat lip." The man said his wife was mad at the youth for using a four-wheel-drive vehicle. The resident said his son does not need medical attention but wants to go to his mother’s house.

STINSON BEACH – Medics and deputies responded to the lifeguard tower at 11:45 a.m. Sunday when a child had an allergic reaction to a bee sting.

BOLINAS – A caller at 12:52 p.m. Sunday complained that several drunks, including three males with open alcoholic-beverage containers, were drinking behind a business downtown. A deputy could not find them.

BOLINAS – An anonymous caller at 1:16 p.m. Sunday complained the downtown was "packed" with illegally parked vehicles, which should be cited. A deputy found only two vehicles in no-parking zones, and in these cases, the motorists were "loading up stuff."

WOODACRE – A resident at 1:35 p.m. Sunday complained that a vehicle was illegally parked in the vicinity of Buckeye Court and Summit Drive. The vehicle was gone when a deputy arrived.

DOGTOWN – A 50-year-old man injured his knee at 2:06 p.m. Sunday while jumping over a fence along Highway 1. Deputies were told the man’s leg might be broken.

WOODACRE – Medics responded to Central Avenue at 2:36 p.m. Sunday after a two-year-old girl stopped breathing following a fall. Medics reported the girl’s breathing stopped 30 seconds after the fall, in which she scraped her knee. The girl resumed breathing.

LAGUNITAS – A caller atop Mount Barnabe at 3:28 a.m. Saturday reported there were two males on his catwalk. He said they were at his door before he hung up.

STINSON BEACH – A resident at 3:32 p.m. Sunday asked the Sheriff’s Office to provide traffic control downtown because of all the traffic backed up on Highway 1 from the stopsign at Calle del Mar.

LAGUNITAS – A resident who owns land at the Inkwells told deputies at 4:02 p.m. Sunday that numerous vehicles were illegally parked at the non-public swimming hole. He said he wanted his complaint documented so he will have a legal record to give an attorney should anyone get hurt walking on glass broken by vandals.

STINSON BEACH –A woman at 4:55 p.m. Sunday was found unconscious in the restrooms of the federal beach. Deputies said she might be a victim of "heat exhaustion." She refused transportation to a hospital.

WOODACRE – A Redwood Drive resident at 7:07 p.m. Saturday complained about a loud party in the neighborhood. A deputy found "a small party" and reported, "They will keep the noise down."

STINSON BEACH – A Highway 1 resident at 9:01 p.m. Saturday complained about a loud band playing outdoors. He requested that an officer make the band stop playing or go inside. The resident subsequently called deputies to say the band had stopped playing just after he called. An officer, however, talked to the manager of the business where the band was playing, and the manager said there would be "no more music." At 9:33 p.m., however, the resident called a third time to say the music had started up again. Again the deputy visited the restaurant, and again all was quiet when he got there.

BOLINAS – A woman on Wharf Road at 9:51 p.m. Saturday complained about loud fireworks. All was quiet when a deputy arrived.

NICASIO – Medics were summoned at 10:36 p.m. Saturday when a Nicasio Valley Road resident became ill after drinking too much. The woman had recently undergone an appendectomy.

FOREST KNOLLS – A resident at 12:30 a.m. Friday complained about drinking in the town park. She added she could hear loud talking. Four youths left the park when a deputy arrived, and the disturbance was abated.

TOMALES – A Tomales-Petaluma Road resident at 9:54 a.m. Saturday said her son’s 44-year-old girlfriend has been verbally harassing her while she tries to clean up the yard. The girlfriend then called deputies and said the resident had pushed her.

POINT REYES STATION – A Highway 1 resident at 12:55 p.m. Saturday complained that a stranger keeps harassing her with sexual phone calls, most recently 18 minutes earlier.

POINT REYES STATION – A resident on the main street at 1:44 p.m. Saturday complained of vandalism.

DILLON BEACH – A man on Marine View Drive at 2:25 p.m. Saturday notified deputies that his $3,000 guitar had been stolen on Independence Day while he watched the bonfire on the day beach.

STINSON BEACH – A Calle del Arroyo resident at 3:31 p.m. Saturday complained about illegally parked cars.

STINSON BEACH – A citizen found a wallet along Highway 1 and turned it over to a deputy at 3:34 p.m. Saturday.

NATIONAL SEASHORE – A resident at 3:39 p.m. Saturday told deputies a motorist had come to the door and said her car had been run off Pierce Point Road. The woman quoted the motorist as saying two of her car’s tires were flattened and that she had two small children in the vehicle. The children were not injured, and the Highway Patrol handled the matter.

STINSON BEACH – Deputies at 7:30 p.m. Friday received a report that a woman, who appeared drunk or high, was in the middle of the intersection of Highway 1 and Calle del Mar "trying to act like a police traffic-control officer." The woman was described as wearing jeans and the top to a swimsuit. Officers were told there were two boys with the woman, and they were across the street in a lot playing loud music.

FOREST KNOLLS – A Montezuma Avenue resident at 9:27 p.m. Friday told deputies she could hear a female voice screaming, "Get out of here."

DILLON BEACH – A woman on Marine View Drive at 9:55 p.m. Friday complained that youths were setting off fireworks near travel trailers. A deputy could not find the youths.

BOLINAS – Deputies at 11:13 p.m. Friday took a drunk man on Wharf Road into custody and transported him to a detoxification center.

BOLINAS – A Brighton Avenue resident at 11:30 p.m. Friday complained that a group of youths had a bonfire on the beach. A deputy contacted the group, who agreed to put the fire out and keep their noise down.

POINT REYES STATION – A woman told deputies that on April 23 she had given a pottery store on B Street $48 for a pot. However, she said, she never got the pot, and the store has now closed. A deputy gave her advice.

POINT REYES STATION – A Highway 1 resident at 5:57 p.m. Friday reported hearing seven gunshots over 15 to 20 minutes. Her neighbor subsequently notified deputies the noise was coming from cherry bombs being set off outside a bar. An officer noted he could not hear the firecrackers at the sheriff’s substation.

FOREST KNOLLS – A resident at 8:43 p.m. last Thursday turned in a lost travel bag he had found. Firefighters in Woodacre returned the bag to the man who owns it.

BOLINAS – A woman on Wharf Road at 9:31 p.m. last Thursday told deputies that the anti-psychotic medicine she is receiving is not working, and she asked that the Humane Society take care of her pet.

BOLINAS – A Fern Road resident at 10:02 a.m. last Thursday told deputies he has an ongoing traffic dispute with a neighbor. An officer gave him advice.

FOREST KNOLLS – A woman at 1:42 p.m. last Thursday complained that three men, who were drinking in the town park, had yelled obscenities at her. A deputy could not find the trio.

INVERNESS PARK – A man at 6:37 p.m. last Thursday told deputies he had been walking on Sunnyside Drive when three pitbulls ran out of the Point Reyes National Seashore and then back to a brown van parked in the park. He said it appeared that someone was living in the National Seashore.

BOLINAS – An Olema-Bolinas Road resident at 7:18 p.m. last Wednesday notified deputies that someone, who had been driving an older, gray truck, was shooting Canadian geese. She said that one goose had already been killed in the wetlands of the Bolinas Lagoon nature preserve.

STINSON BEACH – A 72-year-old woman tripped on Buena Vista Avenue, cutting her head and face when she fell, a second woman reported at 10:08 p.m. last Wednesday..

FOREST KNOLLS – A Forest Drive resident at 11:22 p.m. last Wednesday complained about neighbors playing loud music and said it was an ongoing problem.

BOLINAS – A disoriented septuagenarian with a cane entered a Wharf Road business at 3:18 a.m. last Wednesday and asked where she lives.

STINSON BEACH – A Highway 1 resident at 8:26 a.m. last Wednesday notified deputies that a delivery truck had run over her address sign the previous day.

BOLINAS – The principal at 8:33 a.m. last Thursday notified deputies he had received secondhand information that a possibly drunk man was lying on a school bench. The man was gone when a deputy arrived.

STINSON BEACH – A woman at 12:32 p.m. last Wednesday said a 72-year-old man, who had been staying on Belvedere Avenue, had defecated "all over" his room and the hall. The man has now left with the keys, she said. She asked that a deputy document the damage and the change in keys.

POINT REYES STATION – A physician at 4:27 p.m. last Wednesday reported a 17-year-old boy was dizzy and vomiting. Medics transported him by ambulance to Marin General Hospital.

BOLINAS – A Locust Road resident at 5:22 p.m. last Wednesday reported that a three-year-old boy had fallen off a bicycle and broken a front tooth.

LAGUNITAS – A Point Reyes National Seashore employee at 6:07 p.m. last Wednesday told deputies that a transient hitchhiking on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard had offered to sell him a baggie of jewelry and marijuana. When he turned the man down, he said, the man became "verbally angry."

BOLINAS – A Kale Road resident at 9:42 a.m. July 8 reported having a quarrel with a 33-year-old employee he had fired. He said the employee was now picking up his property.

INVERNESS PARK – Deputies at 10:32 a.m. July 8 received a report that two men in their 40s were dragging a 13-year-old girl to the rear of a house.

POINT REYES STATION – Sheriff’s Lt. Rich Ginnodo, commander of the West Marin Substation, has asked The Light to let readers know that a campaign to remove abandoned cars is underway in West Marin. Lt. Ginnodo said the Sheriff’s Office will arrange to have abandoned vehicles towed off private property, as well as public property, if the landowner signs a release. NICASIO – A Los Piños Spur resident at noon June 30 reported that a vandal had released 10,000 gallons of water from a fire-fighting tank.

POINT REYES STATION – The executive director of the Dance Palace at 10:15 a.m. July 1 reported that someone had broken a 6-inch by 12-inch pane of glass in the "old church space."

RED HILL – The principal of Union School at 2:30 p.m. July 1 notified deputies that a vandal had thrown a rock at a 24.5-inch by 32-inch window, breaking the outer pane but not an inner pane. She listed the damage at $257.

TOMALES – A deputy at 9:15 a.m. Monday took a report from a 15-year-old girl in Kaiser Permanente. After the girl told a psychiatric technician that she had sexual intercourse illegally with a 19-year--old boy in Tomales, the psychiatric technician was required by law to report her claim to Sonoma County deputies.

BOLINAS – A man on Wharf Road at 10:17 a.m. Sunday complained that a homeless woman in her 20s had spit in his face. He told deputies the incident occurred after the woman, who was wearing a dark scarf, asked if he would give her a cigarette and he said, "No."

BOLINAS – A man living near downtown at 2:56 p.m. Sunday told deputies that a woman who is nearly 30 would not leave his property although he had told her she is not allowed there. Eventually, he reported, she headed off toward the beach.

BOLINAS – An Ocean Avenue resident at 8:15 p.m. Monday complained that a woman was dancing in his barn and refusing to leave. Deputies noted that she had previously been in the county crisis unit and that there is a warrant out for her arrest. However, she subsequently left the area.

BOLINAS – A resident at 9:06 p.m. Monday complained about fireworks at the end of Brighton Avenue, possibly on the beach. All was quiet when a deputy arrived.

BOLINAS – A Marin Way homeowner at 11:18 p.m. Monday reported that intruders had entered his guesthouse, eaten food, and drunk tea. "They also left some strange notes in the house," a deputy quoted the man as saying. However, nothing was taken from the building.

DILLON BEACH – A woman camping on Marine View Drive at 11:50 a.m. Sunday reported having problems with juveniles two campsites away. She said the youths kicked her son in the ribs and made threats. The woman refused to make a report over the telephone and insisted on meeting a deputy "at the pier." She added that the incident occurred "a few days ago."

STINSON BEACH – A man on Highway 1 at 2:27 p.m. Monday told a deputy that a cell phone and the tripod for a camera had been taken from his locked vehicle.

BOLINAS – A Brighton Avenue resident at 5:26 p.m. Monday complained that three youngsters were throwing water balloons at passing cars. A deputy could not find the juveniles.

FOREST KNOLLS – A 39-year-old resident at 6:07 p.m. Monday reported severe abdominal pain and said she was throwing up stomach bile. The woman had undergone major surgery three times in the past year.

INVERNESS – An Inverness Way resident at 9:45 p.m. Sunday complained about loud music. A deputy got the music turned off.

STINSON BEACH – A resident at 10:49 p.m. Sunday complained that 20 adults had two bonfires on the beach near Calle de la Resaca. After a deputy arrived, the fires were put out, and the people left.

BOLINAS – Deputies and medics responded at 4:19 a.m. Sunday when a 72-year-old man, who has a history of heart problems, reported pain in his chest. Skies were too overcast for a helicopter to land in town, so he had to be transported to a hospital by ambulance.

MARSHALL – Deputies and medics were summoned to a Highway 1 residence when a 88-year-old man suffered a heart attack at 10:55 p.m. Sunday. The man, who has a history of heart problems, had been having pains in his chest for several hours.

BOLINAS – A woman on Wharf Road at 12:29 p.m. Sunday complained that "five people, males and females," were drinking outdoors. She described the five as "local bums" and said they had refused to leave the area when she first asked them to. However, she added, they subsequently left.

LAGUNITAS – A Sir Francis Drake Boulevard resident at 4:11 p.m. Sunday notified officers a burglar smashed the passenger’s sidewindow of his locked vehicle to steal 90 CDs.

STINSON BEACH – A Calle del Pradero resident at 4:29 p.m. Sunday told deputies that a vandal had smashed the windshield of her car and damaged the front fender. She said the car had been parked with a cover over it.

WOODACRE – A new tenant on Grant Street at 5:42 p.m. Sunday notified deputies that another tenant had screamed at her because he felt her TV was too loud. She said felt she "threatened" by "his demeanor." A deputy gave her advice. The woman also complained that a fellow tenant comes through her room to get to the bathroom. She said she feels as if she has no privacy.

SAN GERONIMO – A resident reported hearing a loud explosion in the vicinity of San Geronimo Valley Drive and Sir Francis Drake Boulevard. The noise could also have come from a shotgun, she said, or even more likely from large fireworks.

WOODACRE – Deputies and medics were summoned to a Sir Francis Drake Boulevard address at 10:03 a.m. Saturday after a man reported that a 79-year-old woman in the barn area had suffered head scrapes, a knee injury, and was having trouble breathing.

LAGUNITAS – A man living near the Ink Wells at 12:03 p.m. Saturday complained that a black sedan had parked in a no-parking zone. A deputy ticketed the car.

BOLINAS – A cell phone was found on Brighton Avenue and turned over to a deputy at 12:43 p.m. Saturday.

DILLON BEACH – The owner of a campground at 1:04 p.m. Saturday asked deputies to remove a 30-year-old man. He said the man was currently "hiding."

BOLINAS – A caller at 6:59 p.m. Saturday complained that a man in a red pickup truck was cursing at passersby and banging on his truck with a hammer. A deputy admonished the man.

STINSON BEACH – A Buena Vista Avenue resident at 6:59 p.m. Saturday complained that a neighbor had hit and damaged the resident’s car while pulling out of a parking space two hours earlier. The resident said he had left the neighbor a message but had received no response. A deputy gave him advice.

POINT REYES STATION – A resident at 8:07 p.m. Friday told deputies she’d had a stroke and just gotten out of the hospital. The resident said she was unable to close her gate and asked that a deputy do so the next time one was driving on Mesa Road. An officer said he would.

BOLINAS – A bartender at 8:38 p.m. Friday reported there was a fight on Wharf Road outside the bar. A deputy noted yelling could be heard in the background of the call. The bartender then said a second disturbance was starting up. She subsequently noted everyone involved was dispersing.

DILLON BEACH – A camper on Marine View Drive at 9:02 p.m. Friday reported someone was shooting rockets at other people’s travel trailers. She also complained about loud music. A deputy could find nothing amiss.

INVERNESS PARK – A Sir Francis Drake Boulevard resident at 9:16 p.m. Friday reported hearing a gunshot. All was quiet when a deputy arrived.

STINSON BEACH – A woman at 9:35 p.m. Friday notified deputies her 1995 VW car had been stolen during the past two hours. At 10:46 p.m., the fire chief saw the car parked on Calle del Mar. By then, the woman had found the vehicle but had neglected to tell deputies.

BOLINAS –A resident at Brighton and Park avenues at 9:36 p.m. Friday complained about fireworks in the area and said there had also been fireworks the previous night. A deputy quoted the woman as saying it’s "out of control on Brighton."

BOLINAS – A Brighton Avenue resident at 9:55 p.m. Friday complained about a loud party on the beach with a loud band. She said there also were fireworks on the beach. Deputies subsequently received another call from Brighton Avenue complaining about reggae music in the vicinity of Brighton and Terrace avenues.

INVERNESS PARK – A resident in the Silverhills neighborhood at 10:10 p.m. Friday told deputies she could hear fireworks in the area of Balboa Avenue.

BOLINAS – A woman at 10:35 p.m. Friday asked that a deputy pick up a baby-stroller she had left in front of a house. An officer said he would when he had time.

DILLON BEACH – A woman on Marine View Drive at 3:17 a.m. Friday reported that a camper was yelling at her that people, who were driving around, were going to run over him. The woman quoted him as saying "people are out of control and he is going to make an arrest."

DILLON BEACH – A woman at a campground notified deputies at 11:41 p.m. Friday that she had received complaints from two customers that said people aged 25 to 30 were using fireworks in an unsafe way. One of the customers claimed to be an officer, she said.

STINSON BEACH – Medics responded to Calle de la Ona at 11:56 p.m. Friday when a teenager’s hands were burned by fireworks.

STINSON BEACH – A Calle de la Sierra resident at 12:01 a.m. Saturday complained that a large group of youths were partying in front of her house on the beach, drinking, shooting off fireworks, and using her front steps for a restroom.

BOLINAS – Two Brighton Avenue residents shortly after midnight Saturday morning complained about a party in the area. A deputy later reported it was "not much of a party" and that it had been "abated prior to [his] arrival."

WOODACRE – A resident at 12:05 a.m. Saturday complained about loud music coming from an electric guitar on Garden Way.

BOLINAS – A woman on Brighton Avenue at 12:22 a.m. Saturday reported a 17-year-old girl, who had been drinking, had passed out on the beach. The girl’s friends had rolled her onto her side because she was vomiting, the woman said. Deputies and medics responded.

STINSON BEACH – A Highway 1 resident at 12:31 a.m. Saturday complained about a "huge party at a house." She said some of the people drinking were underage.

POINT REYES STATION – A Lorraine Avenue resident at 12:42 a.m. Saturday told deputies somebody was running up and down the street. The resident said he was concerned because of recent break-ins and vandalism in the area.

OLEMA – Deputies at 1:44 a.m. Saturday responded to a fight on Highway 1 between two males. Since neither fighter wanted to press charges, officers wrote the incident off to "mutual combat."

STINSON BEACH – A man, who had been drinking, told officers at 1:50 a.m. Saturday he had been assaulted by strangers.

STINSON BEACH – A woman on Highway 1 at 11:24 a.m. Friday reported a hiker on a trail had broken his leg. Deputies later said the hiker slipped and injured an ankle.

WOODACRE – A 19-year-old youth broke his arm in a bicycle accident on Railroad Avenue at 2:11 p.m. Friday. An ambulance took him to a hospital.

POINT REYES STATION – A woman at a restaurant notified deputies at 5:57 p.m. Friday that a female customer had complained about the service, as well as her food. The woman noted that the customer was still in the restaurant eating the food but yelling at other customers.

DILLON BEACH – A woman on Marine View Drive at 2:03 a.m. Friday complained about five loud, drunk males. The disturbance was abated before an officer arrived.

BOLINAS – A Brighton Avenue resident at 2:17 a.m. Friday complained about neighbors setting off fireworks. All was quiet when a deputy arrived on the scene.

DOGTOWN – A resident at 4:05 a.m. Friday notified deputies that a foreign houseguest, who is epileptic, had suffered a seizure two hours ago. She said the 13-year-old girl was now vomiting.

BOLINAS – A female motorist at 1:23 p.m. last Thursday reported she was trying to turn around on Wharf Road when a man on a bicycle started yelling profanities at her. She said the man, who was about 50, then dropped to the ground and started screaming. He was last seen headed toward the Laundromat.

TOMALES – A woman at 1:48 p.m. last Thursday complained that a man aged 40 to 50 was sitting on the curb screaming profanities. A deputy moved him along.

SAN GERONIMO – A resident at 6:46 p.m. last Thursday reported someone had tried to open a credit-card account in her name.

BOLINAS – A woodpile next to a house on Canyon Road caught fire at 10:27 p.m. last Wednesday, but the fire was quickly put out.

STINSON BEACH – The fire chief at 10:37 p.m. last Wednesday reported one vehicle had rear-ended another at Calle del Mar and Highway 1. No one was injured, but the second motorist was angry at the first for not using turnouts while coming into town. He initially refused to provide her with his license information, the chief said.

WOODACRE – Deputies and medics responded at 10:56 p.m. last Wednesday when a 60-year-old man collapsed after reporting tightness in his chest.

INVERNESS – Medics and deputies at 8:56 a.m. last Wednesday were summoned to a Sir Francis Drake Boulevard address when an 85-year-old man fell and cut his head.

BOLINAS – A merchant at 6:19 p.m. last Wednesday reported a man and woman were fighting on Wharf Road. He said the man hit the woman in the face. She was very drunk, the merchant said, and the man might be too.

July 3, 2003 Sheriff's Calls

MARSHALL – West Marin Senior Services staff at 12:15 p.m. last Wednesday told deputies that a 64-year-old woman in Tomales believes her caregiver has stolen a mirror, television, radio, and camera, together worth $900, from her. The caretaker denied it when questioned by deputies and offered to take a lie-detector test.

BOLINAS – An Olema-Bolinas Road resident at 8:46 p.m. Monday said his neighbor had just come up to him and called him crazy. The two were now separated, he said, but he asked deputies for advice. The man said he also suspects his neighbor has been letting air out of his tires. A deputy gave him advice.

MUIR BEACH – A Pacific Way resident at 8:12 p.m. Monday notified deputies he had found a seven-year-old boy, who said he was lost, in the federal parking lot. The boy told the man he had been walking with his six-year-old sister and thought she had now gone home to their mother’s house. He said the two are visiting their divorced mother, and he didn’t know her address.

BOLINAS – Deputies at 11:27 p.m. Monday received a 911 call from a woman on Wharf Road who "sounded confused and disconnected." She refused to provide he name and said she had misdialed.

LAGUNITAS – A woman at 11:12 p.m. Sunday told deputies her husband had an ounce of marijuana and that she wanted it taken from him. She later notified deputies that the pot had been flushed down the toilet and that no further action was needed.

FOREST KNOLLS – A Juarez Avenue resident at 10:23 p.m. Monday called deputies from San Rafael to say he would like an escort into his home. The man said he’d had an ongoing dispute with a neighbor, who had moved out that day, and that he had earlier heard someone outside his house making a possible death threat.

WOODACRE – A woman at 10:35 p.m. Monday complained about loud music in the vicinity of Railroad Avenue and San Geronimo Valley Drive. After a deputy discovered that a renter had his screen door open, the officer told him to turn down the music. The music was turned off, and the door was closed.

BOLINAS – A man at 11:52 a.m. Sunday told deputies he had left property, including a truck, behind when he was evicted from a Wharf Road apartment three weeks earlier. He said that when he went to reclaim his property, the owner ran out and started yelling at him. He asked a deputy for advice.

POINT REYES STATION – A B Street resident at 1:51 p.m. Sunday complained that a neighbor had been running a tablesaw all day. A deputy said he would contact the neighbor and would ask the county about any restrictions on the neighbor’s building permit.

BOLINAS – A Park Avenue resident at 2:06 p.m. Sunday complained about cars parked in no-parking zones on the "wrong side" of the street. A deputy said the cars could not be ticketed for illegal parking because the no-parking signs have been removed. He said he would contact the county sign shop.

WOODACRE – A man at 4:19 p.m. Sunday notified deputies that his girlfriend had been bitten by a rattlesnake and that he was driving her to the Woodacre firehouse.

LAGUNITAS – A woman at 7:22 p.m. Saturday reported she had been riding her horse in the area of Mountain King Road when she heard 10 to 15 gunshots. All was quiet when a deputy arrived.

STINSON BEACH – A woman on Arenal Avenue at 8:17 p.m. Saturday complained about a live band playing loud blues. The owner of the establishment where the band was playing agreed to turn the music down and move the band inside.

INVERNESS – A resident at 10:48 p.m. Saturday complained about a wedding on Camino del Mar. She said the band was still playing and that it was getting late. However, the band was ending its last set when a deputy arrived. People were cleaning up and getting ready to disperse the guests, the officer reported.

STINSON BEACH – A Seadrift Road woman at 11:51 p.m. Saturday complained there were six or seven people on the beach with a bonfire. A Francisco Patio man then complained there was a "loud party" with a fire. At 11:58 p.m., an Alameda Patio woman reported the bonfire on the beach was now large and more people were arriving. She said a tent had been set up in front of her house and that people were coming up the dunes in front of her house to get wood for the bonfire.

OLEMA – A Highway 1 resident at 12:18 a.m. Sunday complained that a loud party just got "a whole lot louder." A deputy found a small, quiet party of adults and advised them to keep the noise down. They agreed they would.

NICASIO – A Nicasio Valley Road resident at 8:05 a.m. Saturday reported a two-year-old boy had been scalded by hot tea. She said the boy received burns to his chest and that his skin was peeling. The infant was already in an ambulance by the time a deputy arrived.

NICASIO – A man called from a business at 9:12 a.m. Saturday to say two workers had been fighting. One worker, who had been punched in the mouth, was now en route to a clinic, he said, while other was "staying on the scene until the manager gets there to fire him."

MARSHALL – A car overturned on Highway 1 at 9:50 a.m. Saturday. None of the Toyota’s three occupants was seriously injured although one had a cut head.

TOMALES – Medics were summoned at 11:04 a.m. Saturday when a 58-year-old man received an accidental cut while slaughtering a steer. The cut was described as two to three inches deep and five to six inches long.

POINT REYES STATION – A person walked into the sheriff’s substation at 11:28 a.m. Saturday and reported being assaulted at a downtown business. However, a deputy who looked at the video tape from business’ security camera said that all it showed was a dispute over cashing a third-party check. There was no assault, the officer said.

STINSON BEACH – Medics were summoned at 1:02 p.m. Saturday when a 25-year-old woman fractured her ankle in a fall on Arenal Avenue.

BOLINAS – The Highway Patrol at 7:05 p.m. Friday reported a fight on the Wharf Road dock. The CHP said it got the information second hand but that a merchant had confirmed it.

SAN GERONIMO – A Sir Francis Drake Boulevard resident at 8:02 p.m. Friday complained about a man selling books who had jumped over the resident’s gate to get to the front door. The solicitor said he was from Iowa, wanted to know how many children lived in the house, and asked to be let inside.

BOLINAS – A Brighton Avenue resident at 9:14 p.m. Friday complained that 10 people had a bonfire on the beach.

POINT REYES STATION – Medics responded at 10:50 p.m. Friday when a Mesa Road resident reported having heat-induced problems with her breathing.

STINSON BEACH – A deputy on Calle de la Sierra at 12:06 a.m. Saturday told a group of youths to put out their beachfire, and they agreed to.

WOODACRE – A resident in the Fire Road area at 12:36 a.m. Saturday complained about teenagers with 30 to 40 cars having a party. He said cars were racing up and down the hill, youths were smoking cigarettes, and people were talking loudly. A deputy reported finding 50 "cooperative" teenagers and young adults who dispersed when asked to.

FOREST KNOLLS – After a Juarez Avenue resident at 2:14 a.m. Saturday complained about loud music, a deputy contacted a man who said he would turn his music down.

NICASIO – A woman called deputies at 12:25 p.m. from Nicasio Valley Road to report a white pickup truck had just run her vehicle off the road, causing her to drive into a fence.

BOLINAS – A Crescente Avenue resident at 1:12 p.m. Friday told deputies that while he had been away from his vacation home, youths apparently broke in, drank wine and other alcohol, hung around on his deck, and used his hot tub.

WOODACRE – A woman at 3 p.m. last Thursday told deputies she had been targeted by a female stalker three years ago in Santa Barbara. After she reported that the 60-year-old stalker had just sent her a letter, deputies agreed to provide extra patrols around her house.

MUIR BEACH – A Pacific Way resident at 5:27 p.m. last Thursday said a naked man in his 30s had threatened him with a wooden paddle. A deputy reported contacting both men and that verbal disturbance had been abated.

INVERNESS PARK – A 58-year-old man who’d had a hip replacement dislocated the hip in his driveway at 5:33 p.m. last Thursday.

DILLON BEACH – A woman at 6:25 p.m. last Thursday reported a burglar had stolen $1,500 from her house in May.

OLEMA – A Highway 1 resident at 11:29 p.m. last Wednesday complained about a loud party with fireworks at his neighbor’s house. A deputy contacted the host, who said the party was a celebration his 22nd birthday but that he would keep the noise down.

WOODACRE – A deputy on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard at 5:30 p.m. June 24 arrested two people on charges of public drunkenness. The pair were taken to county jail.

POINT REYES STATION – Sheriff’s Lt. Rich Ginnodo, commander of the West Marin Substation, has asked The Light to let readers know that a campaign to remove abandoned cars is underway in West Marin. Lt. Ginnodo said the Sheriff’s Office will arrange to have abandoned vehicles towed off private property, as well as public property, if the landowner signs a release. The substation’s phone number is 663-1151.
