July 27, 2000 Sheriff's Calls
BOLINAS - Deputies received word at 8 p.m. that a 12-year-old boy had run away from home after an argument and had not returned.
STINSON BEACH - Vandals throwing rocks broke an 8-foot-by-6-foot pane of glass that was part of an enclosure for a patio at a Seadrift Road home.
BOLINAS - A man took a portable telephone from the Wharf Road home of another man.
BOLINAS - A Mesa Road resident complained that he had received 50 "disconnect calls" from what he believed were telemarketing groups. The resident said he wanted the calls to stop. Security for Pacific Bell will follow up on the calls, a deputy reported.
TOMALES - A burglar stole tools from a Tomales-Petaluma Road resident's tool shed. The man said he believes the culprit was also responsible for vandalizing his airplane.
STINSON BEACH - Deputies received a report at 10:45 a.m. that a thief had stolen $150 from the cash drawer of a business along Highway 1.
OLEMA - A woman at 1:15 p.m. called West Marin deputies from the Petaluma Police station to report that while she was at an inn in Olema, she noticed a man was watching her. He later got a hold of one of her credit card receipts, the woman added. She said she was concerned, and a deputy gave her advice.
BOLINAS - A deputy at the intersection of Horseshoe Hill and Olema-Bolinas roads cited a motorist at 2:40 p.m. on charges of driving although his license had been suspended.
BOLINAS - A deputy arrested a man on charges of violating a court order to stay away from his domestic partner. He was also cited on charges of driving with a suspended license.
July 20, 2000 Sheriff's Calls
DILLON BEACH - A man on Marine View Drive at 8 p.m. grabbed a woman by her neck during an argument, causing redness, a deputy reported. An officer arrested the man, who was already on probation for domestic-partner abuse.
STINSON BEACH - A judge last week ordered a father to turn his infant child over to its mother, who a week earlier had been arrested on charges of assaulting him in an Inverness restaurant.
MARSHALL - At 8:15 p.m. a deputy at a home along Highway 1 placed a woman under citizen's arrest on charges of committing battery against another woman.
BOLINAS - A deputy at 1 p.m. found a 12-year-old boy riding a motorized scooter on Olema-Bolinas Road although he was not wearing the requisite helmet and was underage. (The minimum age for riding a motorized scooter on public roads is 16.) The officer took the boy's scooter for safekeeping.
POINT REYES STATION - A thief stole a woman's wallet from her vehicle parked along Highway 1.
STINSON BEACH - A Calle del Embarcadero resident reported that a $230 black-metal rack for holding firewood had been stolen from her home.
POINT REYES STATION - A woman reported repeatedly receiving annoying phone calls from an unknown person.
STINSON BEACH - A vandal on Calle del Arroyo sprayed paint on the rear wall of the town's No. 2 firehouse.
INVERNESS - At the request of county Health and Human Services staff, a deputy placed a woman in protective custody for her own safety.
FOREST KNOLLS - A deputy on Arroyo Road at 8 p.m. arrested a man on a local warrant.
WOODACRE - A thief stole gasoline from a phone company truck parked on San Geronimo Valley Drive.
July 13, 2000 Sheriff's Calls
INVERNESS - A deputy at 5:15 p.m. arrested a woman at a restaurant on charges of spousal abuse. Her assault left "visible injuries," an officer reported.
BOLINAS - A woman reported that a cellular phone was stolen from her unattended purse in a store.
BOLINAS - A homeowner reported burglars had forced open the door of his house and had stolen a seven-foot-long blue sofa.
OLEMA - A deputy stopped a motorist on Highway 1 at 10:40 p.m. for an alleged traffic violation and then arrested him on charges of drunk driving.
STINSON BEACH - A man at 12:15 a.m. last Thursday reported that his teenage daughter had been raped by a Fairfax resident during a beach party at the end of Calle del Sierra. Deputies this week said the case is under investigation.
POINT REYES STATION - A woman on Highway 1 was arrested on charges of possessing an amphetamine-based narcotic.
NICASIO - A man told deputies that an unruly customer had been 86'd from a bar after he tried to crash the dining room. The customer claimed he was a friend of the singer who was then performing. She, in turn, said their friendship was 10 years ago and that "he's a real problem," a deputy reported.
FOREST KNOLLS - A woman reported that a large white van parked on Forest Drive was causing a traffic hazard.
STINSON BEACH - A North Calle del Occidente man at 10 p.m. complained about loud music in the neighborhood. All was quiet when a deputy arrived.
TOMALES - A woman said she received a threat while at the Santa Rosa home of her child's father. She said she would also notify Sonoma County authorities.
WOODACRE - A Central Avenue resident complained about someone illegally dumping in his dumpster. He said he wanted deputies to make the culprit, whose car he described, remove the garbage. An officer gave him advice.
BOLINAS - A woman on Brighton Avenue at 2:45 p.m. reported there was a physical fight underway between a male and female. A deputy determined the disturbance was only verbal and separated the parties.
July 6, 2000 Sheriff's Calls
DILLON BEACH - A deputy at 2:30 a.m. shot a bull that had been injured on Franklin School Road.
BOLINAS - A deputy on Wharf Road at 9:45 a.m. arrested a woman on a warrant which carried a bail of $1,500.
TOMALES - A deputy on the Tomales-Petaluma Road arrested a man on assault charges.
BOLINAS - A man complained at 7 p.m. that 20 people with a generator were playing loud music at Evergreen and Larch roads.
BOLINAS - A woman at 5:45 p.m. reported a rave (a large, clandestine dance) was beginning on the beach; she said she was concerned about illegal parking on Brighton Avenue. Another woman called deputies twice to report fireworks at Brighton and Park avenues. She was told there were deputies in town.
BOLINAS - Deputies at 6:45 p.m. received a report of a fight at the end of Brighton Avenue. The fight was temporarily abated by the fire chief, and the combatants headed up Terrace Avenue.
BOLINAS - A man at 8 p.m. reported that about five drunk people were creating a disturbance on Terrace Avenue. He said the group was yelling profanities and that there was a rave on the beach.
BOLINAS - A woman reported that a man said he had brought explosives (described as more powerful than fireworks) onto Elm Road and planned to blow up a vehicle parked in a dry area.
BOLINAS - A man at 10:40 p.m. told deputies that juveniles were in the lumber yard breaking up lumber. Officers found no merit to the report.
BOLINAS - A woman at 11:15 p.m. complained about loud people. Deputies were told festivities would be ending shortly.
BOLINAS - A woman at 1:15 a.m. complained that there were too many parties downtown.
BOLINAS - A woman on Brighton Avenue complained about loud people in front of a church. She said she was disgusted that deputies were not in town fulltime, but she refused to identify herself. Officers determined the noisy people were local residents and agreed to abate the disturbance.
STINSON BEACH - A woman on Calle del Prado at 8:10 p.m. notified deputies that 30 or so juveniles had just started a bonfire on the beach and might be preparing to camp all night.
BOLINAS - A man at 8 p.m. told deputies his wife had thrown him out of their home and asked them to stand by while he retrieved some property from the house.
STINSON BEACH - A woman at 8:40 p.m. reported that many vehicles carrying juveniles were driving back and forth on Calle del Sierra with loads of eucalyptus branches and wood. The woman said she believed the juveniles were preparing to start a fire, but instead they left the area.
POINT REYES STATION - A woman reported that when she returned home from feeding horses, she found that the emergency key to her house was missing. The key was later found.
SAN GERONIMO - A Tamarack Drive resident at 9 p.m. complained about fireworks.
NICASIO - Deputies received two calls from residents of Lucas Valley Road who were upset about people shooting off fireworks.
MUIR BEACH - A Sunset Way resident at 9:40 p.m. complained about illegal fireworks on the beach below her house.
STINSON BEACH - A man on Francisco Patio reported there was a large bonfire on the beach close to grass-covered dunes.
STINSON BEACH - A Calle del Sierra man at 11:10 p.m. complained about a very loud party on the beach. A deputy determined no law was being broken.
WOODACRE - A Whistlestop Wheels bus took a disabled adult to the county fair, but she did not show up when it was time to return to the Valley.
DILLON BEACH - A woman on Marine View Drive at 12:40 a.m. reported that two young men in dark clothing were making her nervous. A deputy dispersed a small group.
BOLINAS - An Overlook Drive resident at 1 p.m. complained about people littering his property and causing "some kind of disturbance," deputies reported. When officers tried to call him back, they got an answering machine. Nonetheless, they abated the problem.
WOODACRE - A woman at 1:10 p.m. complained that 10 boys and girls about 13 and 14 years old were playing with fireworks at Carson and Redwood roads. When she asked them to leave, they "flipped her off," deputies reported, and warned her the fireworks "would blow up in her face." Deputies could not find the youngsters.
INVERNESS PARK - A female motorist drove into a parking space at high speed. When a second woman, who was from the East Bay, confronted her, the motorist became verbally abusive, the second woman said. The second woman also quoted the motorist as saying she planned to return and trash downtown.
STINSON BEACH - A man at 2:15 p.m. called deputies from Calle del Arroyo to report a burglar had stolen a camera, lens, and comforter from the trunk of his car.
MARSHALL - A woman shucking a oyster along Highway 1 at 2:50 p.m. cut herself and fainted. Paramedics responded, and the woman recovered.
MUIR BEACH - A woman at 3 p.m. notified deputies of a verbal disturbance between her father and her lawyer. The woman said she feared her father might hit the lawyer or her. She noted he had hit her previously and that deputies had responded to domestic-violence calls at her home. So far today, she added, her father was not violent.
WOODACRE - A Taylor Avenue homeowner reported that a vandal had thrown something through the window of her house.
BOLINAS - A woman called deputies from Terrace Avenue at 9:30 a.m. and complained that six loud and unruly people were camping in two tents on the beach. She said she'd earlier heard their dog yelping, and now it was limping. A deputy abated the problem and gave all parties advice.
FOREST KNOLLS - A man at 11:15 a.m. called deputies from Montezuma Avenue to complain that while driving, he'd been threatened by the driver of a silver Mercedes with a bike on the back of the car. When both motorists stopped, the Mercedes driver warned, "I'm going to kill you," but he then drove off, the first man reported.
WOODACRE - A Madrone Avenue resident at 1:45 p.m. complained about loud music in the neighborhood. All was quiet when a deputy arrived.
POINT REYES STATION - Deputies were notified by another law-enforcement agency that a fence along Highway 1 is damaged and horses may get out. Deputies were asked to identify the ranch owner so he could be notified that repairs are needed. A deputy reported, "Fence does not appear to have any breaks where horses can get out. Fence is in sad shape though."
STINSON BEACH - A deputy at 3 p.m. was asked to help solve a child-custody dispute. The child's parents are divorcing. Later the child's stepfather asked to speak with an officer about the child's father.
DILLON BEACH - A Lanai Way resident complained that a strange car was parked in his driveway blocking his garage. He also said he was concerned about trespassers on his property causing erosion and leaving beer cans and garbage behind. The car was gone when an officer arrived.
DILLON BEACH - A woman on Marine View Drive at 9:30 p.m. said there was a bonfire under eucalyptus trees and that people were setting off fireworks. A deputy who checked determined the fire "is within reasonable size," and there were "no fireworks heard."
BOLINAS - A man at 10 p.m. complained about people living in a camper for several days at Brighton and Park avenues. A deputy tagged the vehicle for towing.
DILLON BEACH - Firefighters at 10:30 p.m. reported going to the aid of a "disoriented woman" whose "eyes look strange."
FOREST KNOLLS - A Sir Francis Drake Boulevard resident at 10:40 p.m. complained about fireworks and loud music. Those responsible told a deputy there would be "no fireworks" and that the music would be kept down.
POINT REYES STATION - A restaurant employee at 11:30 p.m. reported there was a man in a restroom who was refusing to come out even though she wanted to close for the night. A deputy determined the man was feeling sick.
BOLINAS - A woman on Brighton Avenue complained at midnight about a loud party in her backyard. A deputy, who had just driven along Brighton, said there was nothing amiss there, but she might be hearing music coming from Wharf Road.
DILLON BEACH - A woman on Marine View Drive at 2:40 a.m. reported that two boys, one of them 15, had been missing from their campsite for several hours.
BOLINAS - Deputies at 3:30 p.m. were told a girl had taken 20 Vicodin painkillers 45 minutes earlier. She voluntarily was transported by ambulance to a hospital.
TOMALES - A woman at 9:30 p.m. complained that 50 vehicles all playing loud music had been parked along the main street all day. A deputy who checked was told a Latina's quinceañera was underway and would end by 11 p.m.
STINSON BEACH - A Seadrift Road woman at 9:30 p.m. complained about people setting off fireworks.
BOLINAS - A resident at 10 p.m. reported that 70 people were unloading wooden pallets at Brighton and Park avenues for a fire on the beach. She said she had asked the group to leave, but they refused. However, they were gone when a deputy arrived.
STINSON BEACH - A deputy on Highway 1 at midnight arrested a man for a parole violation.
MARSHALL - A vehicle at 12:20 a.m. hit a telephone pole head-on at Highway 1 and Clark Road. The motorist, who appeared to suffer a head injury, complained of dizziness and feeling weak. Deputies noted the motorist also received scrapes and minor cuts but was not bleeding heavily.
DILLON BEACH - A woman on Tahiti Way complained about being cited for parking in a residents-only zone. She said she had lived on Tahiti Way for two years.
LAGUNITAS - A man at 1:25 p.m. complained that 12 people were trespassing at the Ink Wells, an unsanctioned swimming hole. A deputy contacted the trespassers, and they left.
WOODACRE - A woman at 4 p.m. complained that four boys had been driving motorized go-carts and a mini-bike on Central Avenue for the past 30 minutes. A deputy contacted the boys, who agreed to put the go-carts and bike away.
INVERNESS PARK - A woman at 10 p.m. notified deputies that five juveniles were drinking downtown and making noise. A deputy was unable to find anyone causing a disturbance and noted all juveniles downtown were leaving.
BOLINAS - A deputy on the Olema-Bolinas Road cited a person for possessing marijuana. The officer then released the pot smoker and transported the person to Stinson Beach.
BOLINAS - A deputy at Mesa Road and Overlook Drive at
10 p.m. cited a motorist for failing to signal when turning and then arrested
the motorist for driving despite a suspended license and carrying no proof of
insurance.
