June 29, 2000 Sheriff's Calls

TOMALES - Deputies near Ocean Roar recovered a stolen truck. Deputies reported nothing was taken "from the truck," which was towed to Point Reyes Station.

SAN GERONIMO - A man at 8 p.m. complained about loud music, drums, and amplifiers. A deputy contacted the people responsible for the music, and they agreed to close their doors and keep the noise down.

STINSON BEACH - A woman reported that a 43-year-old drunk man with a red bedroll or blanket was being belligerent and had threatened a bartender. The man had subsequently been 86'd from the bar and, along with another person, was now waiting for a taxi.

WOODACRE - An Edgewood Drive resident at 10:30 p.m. told firefighters he could hear fireworks. He then reported someone was setting off bottle rockets.

LAGUNITAS - A Mountain View Avenue woman at midnight complained about a loud television. All was quiet when a deputy arrived.

MARSHALL - A woman complained about a black pickup truck with a camper shell parked along Highway 1. She said there were beer cans, papers, and clothing thrown about outside the camper, and there might be people sleeping inside.

BOLINAS - Deputies arrested a man on charges of assaulting a domestic partner by hitting her on her arm. After he had thrown items around and allegedly assaulted her once, she - on the advice of deputies - secured a court's emergency protective order against him. When the man, who had been drinking, returned and allegedly assaulted her again before leaving, he was arrested.

POINT REYES STATION - A woman calling from the Redhill Shopping Center said she was waiting for her husband in Point Reyes Station to exchange their youngster as scheduled. When he didn't show up, she said, she called him, and he said he'd get there when he got there. A deputy tried to give her advice over the phone, but she hung up.

DILLON BEACH - A man on Marine View Drive at 1 a.m. reported that vandals had slashed the tires on several cars and trailers.

STINSON BEACH - As a courtesy to San Anselmo police, deputies here took a report from a local man whose cellular phone was stolen in San Anselmo.

POINT REYES STATION - A woman at 12:15 p.m. told officers she was riding horseback along Highway 1 when a white Nissan car passed so closely that it brushed her leg and ran her and her horse off the edge of the road. Deputies referred the case to the Highway Patrol.

NICASIO - Deputies about 10:30 a.m. took a 17-year-old boy into custody on charges of battery against his 24-year-old brother.

TOMALES - A Tomales-Petaluma Road resident at 8 p.m. told deputies her son was being verbally abusive to her and that she wanted him taken to a halfway house. A deputy, however, determined the son was not out of control but rather that his father was refusing to pick him up. The mother told deputies she would call them again in the morning.

SAN GERONIMO - A man scheduled a meeting with a deputy in order to file a report about someone threatening him. However, when the officer arrived, the man wasn't there, and the man's landlord was unaware of the problem.

BOLINAS - A man on Brighton Avenue at 8:20 a.m. reported there were several tents on the beach, lots of trash, and a Ford Bronco partly buried in sand. A deputy gave the man advice.

BOLINAS - Deputies at 7:25 a.m. received a report that a man was lying down and possibly passed out at the Brighton Avenue entrance to the beach. Officers determined the man lived a couple of blocks away.

STINSON BEACH - A restaurant clerk at 9:45 a.m. reported that someone traveling on foot was acting strange. He "appears either out of it or intoxicated," the clerk told deputies, adding that the man was now on his way to Brighton Beach.

LUCAS VALLEY ROAD - The Humane Society at 10:10 a.m. requested assistance in dealing with cows loose on the roadway. A deputy reported the cows were herded back into their pasture.

LAGUNITAS - A resident at noon complained that six or seven males were trespassing on his property at the Ink Wells, an unsanctioned swimming hole. A deputy asked the group to leave, and they did.

DILLON BEACH - A woman calling from Sacramento alerted deputies that her sister, who was a tourist here, had left a suicide note at home.

BOLINAS - A resident at 3 p.m. notified deputies of two vehicles parked on the grass at Brighton and Park avenues. If they're left here, the resident warned, "they will start breeding."

FOREST KNOLLS - A woman at 8 a.m. told deputies that a man in his 40s is living in the town park. She said she has seen human waste in the park and has seen the man washing in a creek and in the park's drinking fountain.

DILLON BEACH - Deputies at 2 p.m. received a call that someone on Marine View Drive was unable to dig free after being buried in sand. Medics responded.

SAN GERONIMO - A woman complained that a vandal had damaged her garden's watering system.

BOLINAS - A man on Evergreen Road at 4 p.m. reported that three or four males in an empty lot were burning paper and wood in the style of a campfire. He said they had a recreational vehicle and a white pickup truck with them. A deputy found no merit to the report.

FOREST KNOLLS - San Anselmo police at 10:45 p.m. asked deputies to contact the mother of a 16-year-old girl. A friend of the girl had just been arrested, and she needed a ride home, police said.

STINSON BEACH - An anonymous caller at 11 p.m. complained about 100 juveniles on the beach starting a bonfire. The caller said that the previous week large amounts of beer cans and broken glass were left behind after a party. A deputy dispersed the throng.

WOODACRE - A man at 2:30 a.m. reported that a truck had run off Upper Carson Road and hit a tree. He said there was no one in the vehicle, but its rear end was sticking in the air. San Anselmo police told deputies that the owner had recently moved from San Anselmo to Woodacre.

SAN GERONIMO - A woman at 8:30 a.m. reported that vandals had filled the lobby of the postoffice with garbage and done minor property damage.

FOREST KNOLLS - A woman reported that her adult daughter had punched her in the face and might now be en route to a chiropractor.

OLEMA - A woman reported losing her backpack containing a wallet and a camera.

BOLINAS - A man's 1978 Volkswagen at 4 p.m. stalled at Highway 1 and Horseshoe Hill Road. The Highway Patrol asked deputies to help the driver get a tow, even though he had no money with him and did not belong to an automobile club. The man said the towing company could hold onto his car for a week and he would return on Friday to pay for the service. The car was towed.

PT. REYES-PETALUMA ROAD - Deputies at 10:30 p.m. received a complaint of six to eight cars gathering after driving around recklessly. A deputy could not find them.

NICASIO - A car ran off Old Rancheria Road at 11:10 p.m., and deputies were asked to see if the weather was good enough for a rescue helicopter to land. Medics responded. No keys were found in the car.

WOODACRE - A Madrone Avenue woman at 7:35 a.m. reported that a man, whom her husband had fired the previous day, had just dumped a large amount of construction debris in front of their residence. He then left in a gray pickup truck, she said.

FOREST KNOLLS - A Tamal Road resident at 7:25 a.m. complained about a mobilehome in the neighborhood.

BOLINAS - A merchant told deputies that someone driving a red Jeep with a surfboard on top had dumped garbage on his property during the night. An officer gave him advice.

SAN GERONIMO - A man reported that a dead doe had been dragged in front of a sign that says, "Thank you for speeding." He said the deer had been dead two days and that animals had torn open its stomach. The man said he was now concerned about a possible health hazard.

FOREST KNOLLS - A Rosario Road resident at 11:40 p.m. reported that people with flashlights appeared to have been throwing debris over a cliff for two hours. A deputy determined they were actually loading debris into a car.

SAN GERONIMO - A woman at 12:30 a.m. reported that a boyfriend and girlfriend had been yelling for 30 minutes. All was quiet when a deputy arrived on the scene, but he was unable to make contact with the couple because of a dog in their yard.

CHILENO VALLEY - Deputies at 8:20 a.m. were notified that two bay horses were in the middle of a roadway and that the gate to their pasture was open. Deputies returned the horses to the pasture and closed the gate.

DILLON BEACH - A woman on Marine View Drive complained about a man who lives in town and frequently drives while drunk. A deputy gave her advice.

BOLINAS - A burglar broke into a parked vehicle and stole numerous items.

 

June 22, 2000 Sheriff's Calls

STINSON BEACH - Someone tried to break into the library by removing the window over a doorway. Although no one got inside the building, deputies at 4:25 a.m. detained, but did not arrest, five drunk adults. So far, deputies have not been able to match fingerprints on the transom with the five young men's fingerprints.

FOREST KNOLLS - A man reported that someone had dumped a refrigerator with its door still attached. (Doors on abandoned refrigerators are a special concern because children have suffocated after being locked inside.) The refrigerator was gone when a deputy arrived. A week ago, another refrigerator with its door still attached was dumped at the Bolinas Wye.

TOMALES - Someone cut the wire to a burglar alarm for a Highway 1 store. Nothing was taken, but the merchant asked deputies for extra nighttime patrols in the area.

PT. REYES-PETALUMA ROAD - A woman reported that someone stole mail from her mailbox.

STINSON BEACH - A burglar on Seadrift Road used a rock to break the driver's-side window of a woman's parked car. A wallet and cellular phone were stolen from the glovebox.

STINSON BEACH - A man at 2:30 a.m. reported finding an unauthorized juvenile party inside his house, and deputies detained three youths. But after officers learned that the man's daughter had given the juveniles the access code to the house's doors, the man asked that all charges be dropped.

TOMALES - A vandal broke the passenger's-side window of a man's truck parked on Irvin Road.

POINT REYES STATION - Deputies at 5 a.m. cited two men for vandalizing a third man's vehicle, which was parked beside Highway 1 a week ago. Deputies noted that the windshields of three other vehicles parked around town were smashed the same night.

MARSHALL - Deputies assisted medics when an 86-year-old woman was found unconscious on a floor but still breathing. Medics had problems finding an available helicopter to transport her to a hospital.

POINT REYES STATION - The Humane Society at 5 a.m. notified deputies that a fawn was caught on top of a wire fence at property across Mesa Road from the Red Barn. The Humane Society added that the fawn was injuring itself trying to get free. A deputy freed the young deer, which rejoined its mother.

LAGUNITAS - A woman, who is evicting a second woman, asked for extra patrols lest the tenant commit vandalism in retaliation. Deputies were told the tenant had tried to commit suicide last Friday.

LAGUNITAS - Deputies and Highway Patrolmen at 9:40 p.m. arranged for a disabled BMW to be towed. The car had a bad alternator.

MUIR BEACH - A citizen reported that a gray-haired man was walking on the edge of the traffic lane of Highway 1 at the Overlook. He was gone when a deputy arrived.

SAN GERONIMO - A man reported that three golf carts had been vandalized during the night. The vandal managed to punch out the ignition on one cart in an apparent effort to start it.

STINSON BEACH - A Highway 1 resident at 8 p.m. complained about loud music and asked that a deputy determine if the noise exceeded the county's decibel limit.

DILLON BEACH - A woman on Marine View Drive reported that a group of hikers on the beach had found a seven-year-old boy, who said he had been lost all day. The boy was reunited with his father.

DILLON BEACH - A Kameha Way resident at 9:40 p.m. reported he had returned home to find his house had been broken into. A telescope and a pair of binoculars were missing, he said.

OLEMA - A security guard reported that 20 adults had been drinking all day and would not stop when she told them to. Nor would they tell her whose campsite they were visiting. A deputy abated the problem.

STINSON BEACH - Firefighters responded to Calle del Arroyo at noon to aid a 46-year-old man. The man was unconscious after a bicycling accident, deputies reported.

BOLINAS - A merchant at 2 p.m. reported his van was struck by a white car being driven toward the end of Wharf Road by an elderly woman. Deputies noted there was some damage to the van but could not find the woman.

STINSON BEACH - A man on North Dipsea Road at 3:45 p.m. notified deputies that two kayaks were chasing harbor seals in Bolinas Lagoon. Officers reported that Park Service rangers would handle the alleged incident, which could be a federal felony.

LAGUNITAS - A merchant reported that someone during the night rolled a garbage can downhill, leaving broken glass in her parking lot. A deputy gave her advice.

INVERNESS - Deputies reported that no one was injured in a 5:25 p.m. traffic accident on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard.

FOREST KNOLLS - A man at 11:20 a.m. reported finding a plumber's torch and cigarette lighter at Candelero and Montezuma roads. He said juveniles had been using the gear to set off bottle rockets. A deputy confiscated the gear for destruction.

NICASIO - A woman at 5 p.m. reported a large tree had fallen down at a blind curve near Lucas Valley and Nicasio Valley roads. She said the trunk was three feet in diameter and about 20 feet long. Firefighters searched for the tree but could not find it.

BOLINAS - Deputies at 10:15 p.m. received an anonymous complaint that a large group with five vehicles were gathering at Brighton and Park avenues.

INVERNESS - A deputy at 10:30 p.m. found people camping on Chicken Ranch Beach. Although they thought they could camp there, the officer told them they couldn't. He told them where they could camp and moved them along.

NATIONAL SEASHORE - Deputies at 1 a.m. received a report of a group making noise and drinking near the Drake's Beach Cafe. Officers referred the problem to Park Service rangers.

STINSON BEACH - A woman on Alameda Patio complained at 9 p.m. that a large group of teenagers were preparing for a bonfire on the beach. She added that officers have been allowing such fires because firefighters have erroneously told them the fires are legal. She claimed they are not.

INVERNESS - A man at 10 p.m. reported that 10 cars, some adults, and 20 teenagers were in a parking lot and that one of the youths was drunk. He added that none of the adults were drunk. A deputy later reported that the people were gathering to meet a friend somewhere.

STINSON BEACH - A fresh keg of beer was found near Alameda Patio at 10 p.m.

POINT REYES STATION - Deputies at 11 p.m. received a complaint that there was a loud party on Commodore Webster Drive. The caller believed alcohol was involved. Officers shut down the party.

STINSON BEACH - A man at 11:30 p.m. reported that 35 to 40 juveniles were gathering at Calle del Arroyo and Highway 1. He said they had numerous vehicles. About the same time, Seadrift Security reported a similar gathering at Calles del Arroyo and del Onda.

INVERNESS - A Seahaven resident at 12:20 a.m. complained about a party with lots of noise and possibly underage drinking. He said he didn't know if any adults were at the party, but he wanted it quieted down because he needed sleep since he had to go to work in the morning. A deputy could not find any party.

BOLINAS - Deputies at 12:25 a.m. received two complaints about a loud party with 12 people and more arriving. Officers dispersed a small group.

LAGUNITAS - A woman living along Sir Francis Drake Boulevard complained at 1 a.m. about a loud party. A deputy could not find it.

MARSHALL - A nighttime vandal damaged two vehicles.

 

June 15, 2000 Sheriff's Calls

BOLINAS - The Highway Patrol reported a refrigerator had been dumped at the Bolinas Wye. Bolinas firefighters told deputies the refrigerator was in a ditch, but that it would be a danger to children until its doors were removed or it was made inaccessible.

POINT REYES STATION - A resident lost a $1,500 digital camera while hiking at the Giacomini Ranch.

POINT REYES STATION - A vandal at 4:45 a.m. smashed the windshield of a townswoman's car, which was parked on Highway 1 near the Point Reyes-Petaluma Road. Deputies reported similar vandalism to three other cars, including one parked on the Point Reyes-Petaluma Road near Highway 1.

INVERNESS PARK - A woman complained that a 47-year-old man visiting her house slapped her during an argument.

WOODACRE - The Improvement Club reported vandalism to outdoor furniture and swimming pool facilities. Later a woman from the club asked for more sheriff's patrols in the area. She said the club has an ongoing problem with juveniles trespassing at night in the pool area and drinking. She added that she was concerned a youth might drown.

MARSHALL - A man notified deputies he has a court order allowing him to remove a statue from property along Highway 1 and wanted to know if officers had seen the order. A deputy gave him advice.

STINSON BEACH - A man reported that a solar electric panel and an irrigation system had been stolen from his house on Panoramic Highway.

INVERNESS - A townswoman at 8:45 p.m. told deputies there were two juveniles on the roof of a restaurant, shooting slingshots at each other and almost hitting pedestrians. A deputy contacted the youths' parents, admonished the youths, and confiscated some rockets from them.

STINSON BEACH - A man reported that the previous night a friend of his son managed to get a hold of the man's car keys and drive off with the vehicle. Deputies advised the man to contact the Highway Patrol.

INVERNESS PARK - A resident complained about construction noise at 11 a.m. Sunday. Deputies contacted a worker who agreed to finish cleaning up and then leave for the day.

FOREST KNOLLS - A woman on Rosario Road asked how to start eviction proceedings against a tenant, and a deputy gave her advice.

FALLON - On three separate occasions, deputies were summoned to a rock quarry at Fallon-Two Rock and Martinoni roads to deal with beer parties involving high school students. On the first occasion, deputies were warned by Petaluma Police that flyers in that city announced there would be a graduation party with three kegs at the quarry and urged students to bring additional kegs. Deputies broke up that party at 7:40 p.m. On a subsequent night, deputies received a call at 1 a.m. that a juvenile party in the quarry was getting out of control. Deputies dispersed the party. On the third occasion, the owner complained that kids partying the previous night had left a mess in his quarry and driven his heavy equipment. He asked that a deputy look at the mess before he cleared it away.

WOODACRE - A man asked a deputy for advice regarding problems with his neighbors. An officer gave him advice.

POINT REYES STATION - A motorcyclist tipped over at 12:15 p.m. near the intersection of Highway 1 and Point Reyes-Petaluma Road. Deputies notified the Highway Patrol.

LAGUNITAS - A Tocaloma resident at 3:15 p.m. told deputies about an apparently drunk driver on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard who, she said, was actually insane. He might kill himself or someone else, the woman warned. She said the man, who was driving a white Toyota, had been chasing her and claimed to be a member of "the Russian Mafia."

INVERNESS PARK - An innkeeper at 9:15 p.m. notified deputies that a female customer was in front of the inn arguing with the innkeeper's husband. The woman claimed she was upset that there was a mosquito in her room and wanted a full refund, the innkeeper said. The innkeeper added that the customer had been in her room one hour and had been charged only a minimal amount for the room but wanted all her money back. A deputy said he would advise all those concerned.

DILLON BEACH - A woman on Beach Avenue at 10 p.m. reported that 10 carloads of juveniles were in trees and had a bonfire at the north end of a parking lot. A deputy checked and found a group of adults, told them that the beach was closed for the night, and they agreed to move on.

BOLINAS - A woman on Wharf Road at 10:10 p.m. reported there was a loud party with 15 people, a campfire, and a keg of beer on the beach. She said she was afraid the party might get out of hand.

DILLON BEACH - A man on Kailua Way at 11:20 p.m. complained about a loud party with juveniles drinking.

OLEMA - Deputies received a report at 12:30 a.m. that a dead deer in the westbound lane on Olema Hill was creating a traffic hazard. A deputy moved the deer off the roadway.

BOLINAS - A Brighton Avenue resident at 2:45 a.m. complained about two carloads of people at the town park yelling and screaming. The people were gone when a deputy arrived.

BOLINAS - A homeless woman's counselor said the woman had lost her disability checks, apparently to her ex-boyfriend, through fraud. A deputy noted he could not take a second-hand report and that the woman needed to contact officers herself.

MUIR BEACH - A third grade teacher at Cove Lane and Sunset Way reported there were four naked men fondling each other on the beach at noon Friday. She said she wanted to take her students to the beach on a field trip. When a deputy checked the beach, he found three males and five females but no unusual activity.

DILLON BEACH - A woman on Marine View Drive turned 40 carloads of juveniles away from a campground. However, at 9:40 p.m. she notified deputies she was worried that two parties were brewing. Many juveniles were walking into the campground or heading to the beach from the village. She asked deputies to check for drinking violations. Officers escorted the juveniles out of the campground.

STINSON BEACH - A man reported his wife and baby son had been missing for 1.5 weeks. The 21-year-old wife, however, had previously told deputies she was leaving her husband and wanted no contact with him. Deputies declined to list her as missing.

NICASIO - A deputy on Nicasio Valley Road at 12:20 p.m. arrested a man on a warrant.

FOREST KNOLLS - A man at 12:40 p.m. reported that a second man with a large build had been sitting on a church's steps for a week. The first man said he was concerned that the second man might be homeless and in need of help. A deputy determined the second man is indeed homeless but is in control of his faculties.

SAN GERONIMO - A woman at 11:25 p.m. reported hearing yelling on the other side of a creek 15 minutes earlier. She said the noise could have come from a party but that it sounded like a woman in distress. She now heard laughter, she added. A deputy found a small party of adults, who agreed to keep the noise down.

INVERNESS - An Inverness Way resident at midnight reported a possibly drunk motorist had driven into a parked car. But when the resident realized the motorist was her neighbor, she became uncooperative with deputies. Officers asked her to have him remain at the scene to be checked for injuries. She replied he was a bit "shook up" but not injured. Deputies turned the matter over to the Highway Patrol.

MUIR WOODS - A woman called deputies from Franks Valley Road to say she was the victim of a rape and attempted murder. But all this happened 18 years ago, she added. She gave deputies her phone number, but when they called it, the number was no good.

DILLON BEACH - Petaluma Police notified deputies that a 19-year-old girl visiting in town might be suicidal, and asked that they check on her welfare. Deputies could not find her.

SAN GERONIMO - A man complained about juveniles writing graffiti on a dumpster and hanging out in the postoffice at night and on weekends.

INVERNESS PARK - A man told deputies that a nighttime burglar had apparently tried unsuccessfully to break into two neighboring buildings. Deputies found pry marks on the buildings' doors.

INVERNESS - A burglar broke into a Sir Francis Drake Boulevard business and stole a stereo and knives.

WOODACRE - A man complained that large trailers made for dumping were creating a traffic hazard at Railroad Avenue and Sir Francis Drake Boulevard. A deputy could not find a problem.

POINT REYES STATION - Deputies received a call at 7:25 p.m. from a man "slurring, 'Don't drive in town.'" When deputies tried to call back, they found the man's phone did not accept incoming calls. Officers, however, managed to contact the man anyhow and found he was a father trying to intimidate his son, and he didn't realize he had dialed 911.

STINSON BEACH - A North Calle del Embarcadero resident at 2:20 a.m. reported there was a bonfire on the beach. She said there was a least one person, who was carrying a flashlight, around. A deputy determined no law had been broken and advised the woman.

BOLINAS - A man overdosed on his medication but refused medical attention. Deputies referred the matter to firefighters.

 

June 8, 2000 Sheriff's Calls

STINSON BEACH - Two neighbors on Seadrift Road have a lot-line dispute regarding the beach areas of their property, and one man has strung a rope across the sand to mark the boundary. However, during a party next door, the man who had strung the rope complained that someone had cut it and had thrown cigarette butts over a common fence. Deputies quoted the second man as saying the rope was partly on his property.

BOLINAS - A man, who had been drinking, told deputies that a second man, who had also been drinking, had assaulted him on Wharf Road, adding that he did not want the second man arrested. Deputies arrested the second man anyhow on charges of battery and public drunkenness.

POINT REYES STATION - Deputies received numerous complaints that a homeless man in a wheelchair with his leg in a cast was causing disturbances in several parts of town, smoking marijuana on the main street, yelling and throwing things, and creating a traffic hazard. Because the man was a disabled veteran entitled to use medical marijuana, deputies did not cite him on pot charges. However, they got the county Health and Human Services Office to provide him with cab fare to the San Rafael bus depot, so he could return to Willits where he had been hanging out.

POINT REYES STATION - A couple reported their adult daughter had been missing for three days. The young woman later called them to say she was fine and had merely spent the weekend with friends in San Rafael.

POINT REYES STATION - A thief stole an $85 scarf from a store.

SAN GERONIMO - A woman sought advice because a boy appeared to be using and selling drugs. A deputy advised her to notify the Juvenile Probation Department because the boy is already on probation.

WOODACRE - A woman at 10 p.m. asked a deputy to standby while eviction papers were served on her ex-husband.

STINSON BEACH - A woman at midnight told deputies she had received a phone call from her 16-year-old son, whose car had broken down. A tow truck was dispatched.

LAGUNITAS - A woman at 9:30 a.m. reported that the previous night her 16-year-old son had left home on his bicycle and had not been seen since.

INVERNESS - A woman reported minor vandalism to the school, including a net taken off a basketball hoop and the backboard knocked down. She said the ground was littered with beer bottles. The woman asked for extra patrols around the school.

BOLINAS - A man at 1:45 p.m. told deputies that items had been stolen from a bag he left on a Wharf Road bench. The items were subsequently located.

BOLINAS - A woman at 2:20 p.m. complained that 15 minutes earlier two surfboards and the canvas bag for one of them had been stolen from a vehicle parked on Brighton Avenue.

POINT REYES STATION - A Stinson Beach woman at 4 p.m. complained of a parking problem on B Street. A deputy gave her advice.

BOLINAS - A woman at 4:20 p.m. reported being stalked by a transient for two days. The problem was abated before a deputy arrived on the scene, but he gave her advice anyway.

POINT REYES STATION - A man at 7 p.m. complained that a recreational vehicle was parked a quarter mile from Highway 1 on a dirt road across private property. Deputies determined there had been a misunderstanding and that the RV owner had permission to park there.

BOLINAS - An anonymous caller at 11:45 p.m. complained about people sleeping in a van parked on Brighton Avenue. A deputy told the people vehicle habitation is illegal in Marin County, and they agreed to move on.

BOLINAS - Deputies at 7 p.m. received a 911 call from Wharf Road. The caller sounded like a woman, but officers could not understand what she was saying. When deputies tried to call her back, the call was answered by a fax machine. Officers traced the problem to two transients creating a disturbance. Deputies abated the problem.

MARSHALL - Deputies at 7:35 p.m. received a report that a herd of Angus cattle were on the Marshall-Petaluma Road. Officers contacted a rancher, the cattle were herded into a pasture, and the roadway was cleared.

TOMALES - A Tomales-Petaluma Road resident at 8 p.m. complained that her boyfriend's stepfather had just come over and had broken their kitchen window. Deputies attributed the incident to "some type of family problem."

BOLINAS - Deputies at 8:15 p.m. received a complaint that two groups of youths were hanging around Poplar Road, littering a cliff, drinking, and urinating in public. A deputy advised the groups to leave.

DILLON BEACH - A merchant on Marine View Drive at 8:30 p.m. asked for help in dealing with four or five carloads of juveniles, saying there were too many youths for her to check them all for alcohol.

POINT REYES STATION - A woman told deputies she was driving her boss' van while he was out of state. She said that when she went out at noon, the van was parked in her space on Mesa Road, but that when she returned at 8:30 p.m., it was gone. She speculated that a neighbor may have had it towed away. She asked for advice.

BOLINAS - A woman at 10:30 p.m. complained about a loud party with amplified music in the vicinity of Evergreen and Larch roads. Deputies advised the hosts to turn down the music.

POINT REYES STATION - A man at 2 a.m. told deputies that 10 to 15 people were gathered at Mesa and Overlook roads, with loud talking and music coming from two parked vehicles. A deputy advised the group to keep the noise down.

DILLON BEACH - Medics responded to Marine View Drive at 5 a.m. after a person had an allergic reaction to something that was not immediately identified.

INVERNESS - A woman notified deputies at 8 a.m. that a deer had been struck in traffic. She said the animal was still alive at the side of Aberdeen Way. Deputies could not find it.

POINT REYES STATION - Deputies at 9:15 a.m. provided traffic control following a motorcycle accident at Highway 1 and Cypress Road. A helicopter was initially dispatched to the scene, but the call was canceled.

STINSON BEACH - An Alameda Patio resident asked for extra patrols now that school is almost out for the summer. The resident said youths build bonfires and drink in sand dunes at the end of the street.

POINT REYES STATION - A man complained to deputies that a friend in Stinson Beach was using his credit card without permission to pay for travel expenses. He said he wanted to prosecute his friend, and he asked for advice. Meanwhile in Stinson Beach, a merchant told deputies she wanted the friend removed from a motel because the credit card he was using was not his own.

BOLINAS - A deputy on Elm Road at 9:40 a.m. arrested a man on a misdemeanor warrant.

DOGTOWN - A woman at 10:25 p.m. reported an injury accident in which a BMW had overturned at Thirteen Turns, coming to rest back on its wheels.

STINSON BEACH - Deputies received an anonymous complaint about a loud party of 25 juveniles on the beach at Alameda Patio about 12:30 a.m. A deputy broke up the party.

INVERNESS PARK - A man, who had been driving on Vallejo Avenue at 2 a.m., reported he was accosted by three juveniles in the roadway who yelled obscenities at him. They appeared to have been drinking, he said.

BOLINAS - A woman on Fern Road called deputies at 11:45 a.m. and asked them to send an officer quickly. She then hung up. When deputies called back, the phone was not answered. Officers determined two people had a civil-law problem.

STINSON BEACH - A woman living on Calle del Ribera complained at noon that her landlord was harassing her. She said the dispute was verbal, not physical. A deputy mediated a civil dispute and gave both parties advice.

BOLINAS - A merchant on Wharf Road reported that a homeless man was creating a nuisance in front of his business at 12:45 p.m. and refusing to leave.

WOODACRE - A woman at 3:45 p.m. complained that her soon-to-be-ex husband had spit on her, pushed her, and made threats against her.

SAN GERONIMO - A woman at 9 p.m. notified deputies that three mountain bicyclists were riding on church property and noted the church had been vandalized the previous week. A deputy told three juveniles to move along.

TOMALES - A woman said a 41-year-old man was heading her way after having an altercation with his wife, who had been taken to a safe house. The ex-wife asked a deputy how to get a court's restraining order against her husband, and the officer gave her advice.

NICASIO - A woman living on a Nicasio Valley Road ranch reported that three men living on the same ranch had just committed battery against a fifth person at 9:30 p.m.

SAN GERONIMO - A Meadow Way resident complained at midnight that his neighbors were too loud. A deputy contacted the neighbors, who agreed to keep the noise down.

BOLINAS - A woman who owns property on Horseshoe Hill Road notified deputies at midnight that she has a problem with trespassers and people making noise on her land. She asked for extra patrols.

INVERNESS PARK - A man complained that a tree service trimming trees along Sir Francis Drake Boulevard had been creating traffic hazards for a long time. A deputy gave him advice.

NICASIO - A Lucas Valley Road man reported receiving annoying phone calls.

WOODACRE - A woman on Salix Avenue called deputies at 2 p.m. to say that a second woman, who was cleaning a neighbor's house, had locked herself out; her keys were in her purse, which was inside the house. The cleaning woman noted a window was open and asked if it was all

 

June 1, 2000 Sheriff's Calls

BOLINAS - Deputies received a call at 7:15 p.m. that there was an unconscious girl in the parking lot at Agate Beach. The girl was conscious by the time an officer arrived, but he cited her and two other girls on charges of public drunkenness. The girls were 14 and 15; two were from Bolinas, and one was from Mill Valley.

DOGTOWN - Deputies at 7 p.m. arrested a student for assault and battery against a member of a school's staff.

POINT REYES STATION - A woman reported that a burglar had stolen an alto saxophone from a locked school locker.

BOLINAS - A nighttime burglar stole a $150 boy's bicycle from a garage along the Olema-Bolinas Road.

TOCALOMA - Deputies at 2 a.m. found a car that had been stolen from a Contra Costa County man.

BOLINAS - A deputy at Elm and Evergreen roads at 8:20 p.m. arrested a man on charges of public drunkenness - but then released him.

POINT REYES STATION - A motorist at 10 p.m. flagged down a deputy, saying she was out gasoline and did not belong to an automobile club. A deputy got her fuel.

NICASIO - A deputy at 9 a.m. helped two motorcyclists who were stranded on Nicasio Valley Road. The driver of a BMW cycle admitted to the deputy that he had been "red-lining" his engine by traveling more than 100 mph around the reservoir. The biker said his motorcycle "blew out a freeze plug," which is used for draining a frozen radiator, and this caused his cycle to spray oil all over the motorcyclist traveling behind him.

BOLINAS - Deputies received a call from Brighton Avenue that a burgundy-colored duffel bag containing girls' clothing and personal items had been lost.

TOMALES - A Tomales-Petaluma Road resident told deputies a woman was refusing to leave her property. She said the woman was invited there by her son, who works on the property.

STINSON BEACH - Deputies received a complaint that a group of 12 year olds were throwing pocket knives into the dirt at Calle del Mar and Highway 1. The boys were playing and not being violent, but officers counseled them anyway.

TOMALES - A man reported that a horse on Highway 1 near Ocean's Roar was causing a traffic hazard. The horse was locked in its paddock when a deputy arrived.

FOREST KNOLLS - A woman notified deputies that five boys, 12 and 13, had set up a skateboard ramp on a blind curve of the roadway at Candelero Avenue and Montezuma Road. A deputy told the boys to move the ramp off the road.

STINSON BEACH - A deputy took an uncooperative man to jail after arresting him on charges of public drunkenness. The officer stopped twice en route to adjust the man's handcuffs, once with the help of a state ranger at Pan Toll.

LAGUNITAS - A resident on Cintura Avenue at 8 p.m. complained about hearing a live band for an hour. The host agreed to shut the music down, but the resident then complained that the music was still going on. The resident subsequently reported the party was breaking up.

WOODACRE - A man reported that he and his wife had just had a quarrel, but there had been no violence. He said their differences had been an ongoing problem for the past 16 years.

DILLON BEACH - Deputies received a report that a group of youths on Marine View Drive were causing a disturbance with weapons "including flashlights." Deputies contacted the youths' parents.

BOLINAS - A man at 10:20 p.m. complained about loud music and people outdoors. Deputies found an adult party underway and advised the partygoers of a county ordinance that limits noise after 10 p.m.

DILLON BEACH - A woman on Lanai Way complained about a loud group of jurors with a bonfire, who had parked illegally. A deputy abated the problem.

OLEMA - A deputy at 3 a.m. near the cemetery reported assisting a Highway Patrol officer in clearing Highway 1 of 50, "yes 50," loose cows. The deputy said four men from a nearby ranch assisted in rounding up the strays.

FOREST KNOLLS - A man at 4 a.m. notified deputies that a drunk woman was trying to leave his residence but that he had locked her car keys in a safe. He asked for advice but refused to give the woman's name.

BOLINAS - Deputies at 8:30 a.m. received a report of 12 tents of campers on the beach. The resident suspected that seven carloads of people were living in the tents. A deputy could not find the cars and noted there is no regulation against tents on the beach.

MUIR BEACH - Park Service police arranged for a tow truck to remove about 10 illegally parked vehicles, including cars, a pickup truck, and a van.

DILLON BEACH - A man at 12:30 p.m. complained about people Jet Skiing despite a county ban. He asked that the skiers be cited, quoted the county ordinance, and said he had discussed it with Supervisor Steve Kinsey. He said that trailers for the Jet Skis were parked at a campground.

STINSON BEACH - Firefighters at 1:30 p.m. Sunday treated two 10 year olds who nearly drowned in the surf.

WOODACRE - A woman at 2:20 p.m. reported hearing two gunshots about 100 yards away. A deputy could not find anyone shooting.

DILLON BEACH - A man on Marine View Drive at 3 p.m. reported a verbal disturbance between two carloads of teenagers, all about 18 years old. The man said the dispute began when an occupant of one car made an obscene gesture toward four teens in the other car. A deputy later reported the matter was "semi-resolved."

LAGUNITAS - A woman at 3:25 p.m. complained that vehicles were having to swerve into the oncoming lane to get around numerous vehicles parked on a blind curve of North Arroyo Road. A deputy determined there was "plenty of room" for emergency-vehicle access.

STINSON BEACH - A ranger asked for a deputy to back him up when he cited a teenager on charges of public drunkenness.

BOLINAS - A ranger reported that numerous vehicles were illegally parked on Terrace Avenue. A deputy cited them.

BOLINAS - Deputies at 8:45 p.m. received a complaint that 10 juveniles carrying beer had driven into the area at high speed en route to the beach. A deputy contacted the juveniles, as well as partygoers on Brighton Avenue, who were asked to quiet down.

DILLON BEACH - A woman at 10:10 p.m. complained that two carloads of juveniles were causing her problems. A deputy subsequently reported that the "subjects were told to leave the area and did."

DILLON BEACH - A woman on Marine View Drive at 11 p.m. complained about loud music. A deputy contacted the people responsible for the music, and it was turned down.

DILLON BEACH - An Ocean View Avenue resident complained of hearing loud music and talking at midnight. A deputy contacted the noisemakers, and they agreed to keep the noise down.

PLATFORM BRIDGE ROAD - A woman called deputies to complain there was a man in her house. She then hung up. Deputies noted she may have been drinking and that the disturbance appeared to be a boyfriend-girlfriend quarrel. Officers said each one accused the other of drinking, and both were uncooperative with deputies, hanging up on them several times.

POINT REYES STATION - A man heard a second-hand report that someone's purse had been snatched but didn't know any details. The supposed victim said she may merely have lost her purse or even left it at home.

LAGUNITAS - A man at 2 p.m. complained that a dozen people were swimming in the Ink Wells, which are on his property, and he wanted them removed. Deputies cleared the unsanctioned swimming hole.

RED ROCK - The Highway Patrol passed along a report that a man had been seen falling down drunk before getting into a car parked at the nude beach and driving away. The CHP asked deputies to be on the lookout for the car.

BOLINAS - Federal rangers at 4:20 p.m. Saturday reported numerous vehicles were blocking most fire hydrants downtown. A deputy in Stinson Beach radioed back that he was dealing with a similar problem in Stinson but would get to Bolinas as soon as possible.

STINSON BEACH - Rangers at 4:30 p.m. reported numerous vehicles were illegally parked downtown.

NATIONAL SEASHORE - A man called deputies from Limantour Beach at 4:40 p.m. to report that an 11-year-old girl had been missing three hours from an 11-person family outing near Sky Camp. The man and the girl were reunited.

MOON HILL - A man at 5 p.m. reported being continually harassed and threatened by a person he knows.

WOODACRE - A man notified deputies that $20 worth of plants had been stolen from his backyard. He said he has an idea who took them.

NICASIO - A man at 11 a.m. reported that a thief had stolen electrical equipment from a utility trailer. A deputy determined there had been no theft.

TOMALES - The Humane Society asked deputies to check on an injured horse pastured beside Highway 1. Officers at 2 p.m. determined the horse was fine.

BOLINAS - A man on Brighton Avenue at 4:15 p.m. told deputies he believed officers had locked the gate to the beach and that he needed to get his boat out.

BOLINAS - A man on Brighton Avenue provided more details on vandalism to his van, which occurred a week earlier. He said he believes his ex-girlfriend, who has been stalking him, put Super Glue in a lock.

BOLINAS - An Olema-Bolinas Road woman said her foster son, 12, had run away after being with her only two weeks. She said he has a history of running away.

NICASIO - A man reported his trailer had been stripped while parked along Nicasio Valley Road and that some checks were stolen and forged. A deputy gave him advice.

STINSON BEACH - A ranger cited a 15-year-old girl on charges of possessing marijuana.

POINT REYES STATION - Deputies received a report of two cows loose on Highway 1 at Sir Francis Drake Boulevard. They were gone when officers arrived.

BOLINAS - A man at 10 a.m. complained about people camping on the beach in a tent for three days. A deputy left a written warning on the tent.

BOLINAS - A woman at 11:20 a.m. reported that a 30-year-old man had been released from Marin General Hospital's crisis unit twice that morning and appeared to be delusional. She said he had gone to the hospital for a medical-marijuana certificate and made threats against hospital staff.

BOLINAS - A man reported that a 30-year-old transient had been standing on the beach looking out to sea for the past eight hours. He said the transient had baggage and empty prescription-pill bottles. Deputies noted a high tide would make it difficult to get to where the man was standing.

SAN GERONIMO - A burglar stole lumber from a construction site along Sir Francis Drake Boulevard.
