FOUR CORNERS Saying that "she [felt] uncomfortable in a remote area" at 9:44 p.m. Sunday, a motorist with a stalled BMW asked that a deputy or Highway Patrol officer stand by while she waited for a towtruck.
HICKS VALLEY Firefighters at 8:45 a.m. Sunday reported a vehicle had overturned on the Point Reyes-Petaluma Road, and two people were still inside. The vehicle was blocking one lane, county firefighters added. Deputies and the Highway Patrol provided traffic control while medics took the victims to a hospital.
MARSHALL A shellfish grower at 8:49 a.m. Sunday told deputies that "two employees have been stealing oysters for several months and selling them. The loss totals more that $5,000, he said. He asked deputies for advice and said he wanted to file a report on the two employees, whom he fired Friday.
POINT REYES STATION A 13-year-old boy walked in to the sheriffs substation at 12:02 p.m. Sunday and turned in $200 which he found in a Dumpster near the library the previous night.
SAN GERONIMO A woman at 5 p.m. Sunday told deputies that a family member visiting from out of town was drunk and was threatening violence in the house. She said the man got upset during a "verbal disagreement," adding that he "is leaving the residence now."
HICKS VALLEY A firefighter at 6:08 p.m. Sunday forwarded a report of another vehicle accident, this time involving a motorcycle, on the Point Reyes-Petaluma Road. Although they wondered if this was merely a belated second report on that mornings accident, officers responded and determined there had been no new accident. A motorcyclist was merely changing a tire. Deputies canceled a call for medics to respond to the scene.
INVERNESS A woman employed downtown called deputies at 7:48 p.m. Saturday to report her 23-year-old ex-boyfriend was outside, "saying he has a hammer and is going to hit [her] car," according to a dispatcher. The woman said she felt safe as long as she stayed inside but was worried about her car.
MUIR BEACH A motorist at 9:33 p.m. Saturday told deputies her wallet and some DVDs were stolen from her vehicle while it was parked at the Overlook off Highway 1.
INVERNESS A resident at 9:24 p.m. Saturday complained about a loud party that had been going on for hours. A dispatcher quoted her as saying, "The party is so loud that it must be being held for the hearing impaired."
STINSON BEACH Medics responded at 11:15 a.m. Saturday after a man reported that someone had injured a hand with a pressure washer. The victim was checked by fire department medics and then transported to a hospital to have a wound cleaned.
STINSON BEACH A Calle del Pradero resident at 5:31 p.m. Saturday called 911 to complain about an SUV with no license plate that had been parked in front of her home for three hours. She noted, "This is a private road, and signs are posted." A dispatcher gave the caller a non-emergency phone to use for future non-emergency calls. A deputy determined there was "no merit to any violation" and reported the matter was a "neighborhood dispute over [whats] allowed parking [on a] private road. The dispute, he said, was "resolved."
BOLINAS A deputy at the end of Wharf Road at 10:10 p.m. Friday searched a vehicle and then cited the driver on charges of possessing marijuana and an open alcoholic-beverage container in a vehicle.
BOLINAS A deputy on Wharf Road at 11:33 p.m. Friday arrested a man, whom they said was "extremely drunk," on a warrant as well as on charges of public drunkenness.
BOLINAS A Wharf Road resident at 7:27 p.m. last Thursday complained that a parked vehicle was blocking her front gate and was partially on the curb. A deputy gave the vehicle a parking ticket. At 10:23 a.m. Friday, the resident complained about a white Honda Accord blocking her gate since the previous night. She told deputies she "needs the vehicle moved as she has to remove property from her house, and the vehicle is blocking her exit," a dispatcher reported. Ownership of the vehicle was traced to an East Marin woman.
WOODACRE A resident, who previously suffered a back injury, notified deputies at 12:33 p.m. Friday that "she was disabled and fell twice trying to get [her] cat out of a tree." The woman, who complained of pain in her back and hand, said she was "able to walk [although she] fell down five stairs." The resident said she had "fallen three times in the past two days," a deputy reported, and "is hysterical about her cat up a tree."
POINT REYES STATION Deputies at 12:05 a.m. Saturday received a report that a 78-year-old man may have had a stroke. He was having difficulty speaking, as well as moving his arms and legs. A rescue helicopter took him to Kaiser Hospital in Terra Linda.
NICASIO A man at 7:02 a.m. last Thursday reported a burglar the previous night had pried a front-door lock open to break into a house. The culprit had also broken into the tool container at a job site. Stolen were a mountain bicycle, a table saw, and assorted tools, he said.
BOLINAS A man at 8:47 a.m. last Thursday said he would like to speak to a deputy in person about a merchants harassing him verbally and physically. However, the man added, the discussion would have to wait until the next day when he got back in town. A deputy determined there had been no crime and gave the man advice.
DOGTOWN Deputies and firefighters at 10:43 a.m. last Thursday responded to the report of a possible structure fire along Highway 1. A authorities concluded there was no merit to the report.
NICASIO A county employee at 2:03 p.m. last Wednesday reported that a resident of Woodacre had left a threatening message on his offices answering machine. A deputy determined the call was not a threat but rather the "resident was calling to express his displeasure with what he perceives as poor service from Department of Public Works streetsweepers."
BOLINAS A woman at 9:52 p.m. last Wednesday complained about "approximately 10 individuals screaming very loudly, not an altercation, just being loud." She said a disturbance had occurred between midnight and 3 a.m. the previous night. A deputy walking in the area said he had not heard anyone screaming, "just a conference going on at the [community] center."
POINT REYES STATION Deputies and medics responded at 10:20 p.m. last Wednesday when an innkeeper reported that a 40-year-old lodger staying in his B&B may have overdosed on prescription medication. Deputies were told the woman might have a history of over-dosing.
POINT REYES STATION The sheriffs West Marin substation has asked The Light to let readers know a campaign to remove abandoned cars is underway in West Marin. The Sheriffs Office will arrange to have abandoned vehicles towed off private property, as well as public property, if the landowner signs a release. The substations new phone number is 446-4418.
April 15, 2004 Sheriff's Calls
FOREST KNOLLS A Sir Francis Drake Boulevard resident at 7:27 p.m. Sunday reported someone had shot paintballs at the front of his home. He suspected vandalism by a neighbor, but a deputy determined the neighbor was not responsible for the vandalism, which did not cause permanent damage.
TOMALES A Highway 1 resident at 7:37 p.m. Sunday asked if it is legal to camp on his own property. The resident would not give his address. A deputy advised him that vehicular habitation is illegal in Marin except in campgrounds.
LAGUNITAS A Mountain King Road resident at 8:15 p.m. called deputies to say he had been informed by a neighbor that a "bunch of guys in a truck" were on his property. A deputy found the unoccupied truck parked on the property of the resident whod called officers.
STINSON BEACH A merchant at 9:38 p.m. Sunday notified deputies that a woman and a child, aged 10 or 11, were "yelling and screaming" in a van. The merchant expressed concern for the childs safety. The argument between a mother and her daughter had ended before a deputy arrived.
OLEMA A priest at 11 p.m. Sunday notified deputies that a white car had run out of gas along Highway 1. Deputies handled the matter.
POINT REYES STATION A man at 11:10 p.m. Sunday reported a nine-month-old baby was coughing nonstop although the infant was breathing. Medics determined that nothing was stuck in the infants throat although its sinuses were congested. The baby was taken to Kaiser Hospital in Terra Linda.
INVERNESS PARK A resident at 12:04 a.m. Monday reported seeing "one light down the road" on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard and hearing a collision. The vehicles engine was running, and the woman said the vehicle may have hit a deer. When officers responded, they found a 55-year-old motorist had crashed into a utility pole. She had gotten out of her vehicle and suffered only "small scrapes to her hand," as well as small cuts on her hand from the vehicles airbag." The Highway Patrol handled the matter.
BOLINAS A resident downtown at 1:12 a.m. Monday called deputies to say another woman had overdosed on an "unknown substance." Deputies and medics responded.
NICASIO A resident at 11 p.m. last Thursday notified deputies of an intruder on his Old Rancheria Road property and said his family could hear someone rummaging around outside. He also said there were 17-inch-long bootprints all around his house, leading up from a creek half a mile away. He added there were also smaller footprints. The man at 12:06 p.m. Friday called back to say he had found the trail the trespassers were using to get onto his property. He said trespassers "have been coming onto his property every night for the last week, peeking into his windows." A second man at the same address called deputies at 12:02 p.m. Saturday to complain once more about trespassers. The second man again called deputies at 8:20 p.m. Saturday to report a vandal had broken his trucks rear window around 3 a.m. the night before. The man said there were currently people in a creekbed. A deputy checked the sanity of one of the people, who was carrying a pistol.
BOLINAS A Brighton Avenue resident at 11:07 p.m. Saturday reported hearing what he described as either "[gun]shots coming from the beach" or fireworks, possibly on Terrace Avenue.
PLATFORM BRIDGE A woman at 11:22 p.m. Saturday told deputies she had seen two people in a car "possibly doing meth." The car was gone when a deputy arrived.
INVERNESS A woman on the Mesa at 11:24 p.m. Saturday notified deputies her husband was in her residence despite a court-issued restraining order that he stay away from her. "The subject is trying to come in now," a deputy quoted her as saying. "He is breaking the window now." The woman said she didnt know if her husband had a gun.
DILLON BEACH A woman on Marine View Drive at 11:41 p.m. Saturday complained that three youths were trying to enter Lawsons Landing campground and were "being disruptive." The trio agreed to leave when an officer arrived.
NATIONAL SEASHORE The Highway Patrol at 2:39 a.m. Sunday asked deputies to check on a two-vehicle collision, in which one vehicle overturned. The CHP, which received the information from a passerby, reported five people had gotten out of the vehicle, which was upside down west of Johnson Oyster Company on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard. A deputy called for a towtruck.
STINSON BEACH A man at 11:22 a.m. Sunday complained that a vandal had thrown a log through the rear window of his car during the night. The car had been parked in a lot beside Highway 1.
STINSON BEACH A Calle de Onda resident at 8:30 p.m. Friday reported that a group of people had a fire on the beach. A deputy found a small group and advised them their bonfire was illegal. They agreed to put it out.
INVERNESS A Sir Francis Drake Boulevard resident at 9:24 p.m. Friday asked if a relatives wallet, which had been lost near downtown, had been turned in at the substation. It hadnt been.
MUIR BEACH A woman at 8:38 p.m. asked deputies for advice. She said she had rented a room to a 39-year-old woman, who paid her $1,000 but only stayed one night. The second womans parents keep calling her and asking for a refund, she said. The womans father in Mill Valley told deputies the landlord "took advantage" of his daughter.
BOLINAS Firefighters and deputies at 8:46 a.m. Friday responded to a medical emergency on Wharf Road. A helicopter transported the victim to a hospital.
INVERNESS A woman at 1:24 p.m. Friday told deputies she had tried to cash a check given her by her 45-year-old daughter, but the bank told her the check was fraudulent. The woman said her daughter is currently in jail, "and she has no idea who gave her the check." A deputy determined it was a case for San Rafael Police.
DOGTOWN The Highway Patrol at 6:52 p.m. Friday reported a car had run into a ditch along Highway 1. A passerby then called from a ranger station to say people at the scene "have the woman out of the car on the ground, and she is injured." A rescue helicopter was dispatched to the scene.
NICASIO A woman at 3:25 a.m. Friday reported a man had come to the Lucas Valley Road business front gate in a taxicab and was refusing to leave.
POINT REYES STATION Deputies and medics responded at 4:09 a.m. Friday when a man reported that an 84-year-old woman with a history of heart attacks was unconscious but breathing.
MUIR BEACH A man at 7:27 a.m. last Thursday reported a dark green stationwagon was 100 feet down the bluff below Highway 1 a quarter mile from Slide Ranch. There appeared to be fresh skid marks, the man said.
NICASIO A resident of Lucas Valley Road at 10:39 a.m. last Thursday said she had seen a pair of pantyhose, paystubs with a name on them, a Social Security card, and bank receipts scattered on the ground in Camino Margarita subdivision
POINT REYES STATION A man at 7:11 p.m. April 6 complained about "loud music from the Red Barn," adding that it has "been going on for the past hour." A deputy who responded determined the complaint had "no merit." However, at 5:04 p.m. last Wednesday a caller complained of "loud music going on for over an hour," saying the noise has been a "problem for the past two days." A deputy determined, "A band is practicing inside the Red Barn. They agreed to turn [the volume] down." However, at 2:15 p.m. the next day, a man complained about "loud music coming from the barn" on Mesa Road. "This is the third day, [and] hed like it stopped," an officer quoted him as saying. A deputy found a "band practicing in a commercial building, and [they] agreed to turn down their amps." The officer added that the music "was not very loud" when he arrived.
SAN GERONIMO A woman at 3:01 p.m. last Thursday complained about a "real estate agent who trespasses on her job site and brings other people out there." A deputy gave the woman advice on getting rid of trespassers.
POINT REYES STATION A man at 4:06 p.m. last Thursday asked firefighters "to check on a dog in a hot car...parked in the sun." An officer said he would advise the Humane Society if necessary.
INVERNESS Deputies at 10:51 p.m. last Wednesday received a complaint of youths causing a disturbance at Sir Francis Drake Boulevard and Inverness Way.
POINT REYES STATION A merchant at 2:01 p.m. last Wednesday reported stepping out of her Mesa Road office for a moment and finding a youth inside when she returned. She asked him what he was doing there, and he asked her what business that was of hers. She said that he, in fact, was in her business. When he became angry, another woman asked a neighboring business to call 911, which it did. The youth, who was carrying a skateboard and two pieces of pizza, then got angry at the staff of the neighboring business. He was last seen heading toward the Red Barn on his skateboard and later crossing its parking lot; however, other youths at the Red Barn told deputies that none of them were the culprit.
SAN GERONIMO A man at 2:34 p.m. last Wednesday complained that workers across the street were dumping lumber in a large storage container on his vacant property. He asked how to get the workers to remove the debris. A deputy went to the job site and directed workers to ask their boss if the storage container is his. If so, the officer said, the boss needs to move it.
WOODACRE A Redwood Drive resident at 12:20 a.m. last Wednesday complained of hearing "loud voices, possibly [from] juveniles gathering." He said the disturbance was an "ongoing problem." A deputy found "people in a hot tub talking loudly, unaware they were making so much noise."

April 8, 2004 Sheriff's Calls
STINSON BEACH A worker at 7 p.m. Sunday told deputies that he and a co-worker had received threats, including death threats, from an employee of a daily newspaper. A deputy determined it had been a misunderstanding.
STINSON BEACH A man, whod had a confrontation with a bartender an hour earlier, called deputies at 7:03 p.m. Sunday to say the bartender was "suicidal."
STINSON BEACH A Highway 1 resident at 8:32 a.m. Sunday notified deputies that approximately 14 people with seven tents had a fire on the beach. The fire was out by the time an officer arrived on the scene.
PLATFORM BRIDGE A worker at 7:17 a.m. Saturday notified deputies that a blue Honda went into a skid next to the gravel company on the Point Reyes-Petaluma Road, slammed into a truck, and knocked it into the workers truck. The worker said that when he told the motorist the Sheriffs Office would be notified, the motorist ran away. The worker said the motorist dashed down a bank of Papermill Creek and could be heard crashing through underbrush. Officers apprehended the motorist, a 24-year-old Petaluma man, on Platform Bridge Road and gave him a sobriety test, which he failed. The motorist was then taken to jail.
TOMALES A man at 10:50 a.m. Sunday reported hearing four gunshots near the high school. When a deputy checked, he found a baseball game was underway. A coach said there had been no shooting and that the man probably heard players using metal bats.
FOREST KNOLLS A resident at 11:44 a.m. Sunday complained that four men in their 40s and a woman in her 40s were drinking in the town park. A deputy told the group no drinking is allowed in the park, and they were "cooperative," he noted.
LAGUNITAS A Chimney Lane resident at 3:17 p.m. Sunday complained that a neighbor had cut down a large tree and left wood chips all over the residents "extensive garden," in the words of the officer.
SAN GERONIMO A caller on Sunday notified deputies that a blue van was parked on the school playfield and that someone was feeding rabbits and chickens.
STINSON BEACH Medics responded at 1:21 p.m. Sunday when a 70-year-old woman reported symptoms of internal bleeding.
WOODACRE A resident at 8:39 a.m. Saturday asked for extra patrols around her home. She said her car had previously been broken into and that she was already installing new locks on her homes doors.
SAN GERONIMO A resident at 10:08 p.m. Saturday told deputies that a second woman, 40, with whom she had a financial dispute, had called to say, "Im coming with my dad." A deputy determined no threats had been made.
DILLON BEACH Medics were summoned to Summer Street at 2:25 p.m. Saturday when an 82-year-old man developed high blood pressure, along with an irregular hear beat, and felt dizzy.
OLEMA Deputies at 3:52 p.m. Saturday received a report of gunshots near Highway 1. A deputy determined no one was shooting and that it was merely a case of "trucks backfiring."
POINT REYES STATION A wallet was found on Highway 1 at 5:25 p.m. Saturday.
STINSON BEACH A Calle del Mar resident at 8:33 p.m. Friday reported hearing a loud quarrel between a woman who was inside a home and a man who was outside. The two were yelling at each other, and the man was demanding money, the resident said.
WOODACRE A Fire Road resident at 10:39 p.m. Friday complained that youths were using an open area to hold a loud party. He also complained of their speeding in the neighborhood. A deputy found a "small group" and told them they were trespassing and must "move along." All the youths "left the area immediately," he noted.
BOLINAS A worker at 12:04 a.m. Saturday reported "an assault victim" had been kicked in the head and was unconscious although he was breathing. He said a co-worker was currently detaining the suspect. The worker subsequently reported the victim had regained consciousness but was disoriented.
INVERNESS PARK A resident at 7:35 a.m. Friday complained that a recreational vehicle had been parked at Balboa Avenue and Sir Francis Drake Boulevard for two nights and that she believed people were living in it. A deputy contacted the RV owner and told him Marin County law does not allow vehicular habitation except in designated campgrounds. The owner then moved his RV to Olema Ranch Campground.
FOREST KNOLLS A Castro Street resident at 9:58 a.m. Friday reported that her cell phone was missing. She told deputies that when she dialed the phones number, someone answered but would not say anything.
STINSON BEACH A Calle de la Ribera resident at 7:55 a.m. last Thursday reported a number of items had been taken from a subleased cabin. He said several of the items had now been returned by someone who stayed at the cabin.
POINT REYES STATION A Highway 1 resident at 7:55 a.m. last Thursday told deputies she had lost her wallet.
WOODACRE A Maple Road resident at 8:27 a.m. last Thursday complained her neighbors loose dog keeps attacking her and her dog when she tries to go from her yard to her car. She said she has asked the neighbors to control their dog, but the problem is continuing. The resident asked for advice.
SAN GERONIMO Medics responded to the school at 1:40 p.m. last Thursday when a child fell, hit his head on the pavement, and was knocked unconscious. Deputies were subsequently told the child had regained consciousness.
POINT REYES STATION A Minnesota resident at 12:57 p.m. last Thursday reported losing his wallet somewhere between downtown and the lighthouse.
SAN GERONIMO A resident at 1:40 p.m. last Thursday reported a man with a gray vehicle and wearing a black ski mask was parked at Tamarack Drive and Hemlock. A deputy could not find him.
MARSHALL A deputy at 11:29 p.m. last Thursday warned 13 homeless people camping in a schoolbus that Marin law prohibits vehicular habitation. The group said a tire on the bus had blown out and that they would move the vehicle in the morning. The officer warned them that if they didnt, they would be ticketed.
DILLON BEACH A camper at 1:43 p.m. Monday reported a battery charger and an ice chest containing liquor were stolen from his campsite during the night. He said he suspected a group of youths camping in the area were to blame.
ROCKY HILL A county firetruck on the Point Reyes-Petaluma Road at 6:05 p.m. Monday came upon a vehicle that had just been damaged in a hit-run collision. The "suspect vehicle is a black Honda Prelude last seen headed toward Point Reyes Station," firefighters told deputies. The Highway Patrol handled the case.
POINT REYES STATION Sheriffs Lt. Ritch Ginnodo, commander of the West Marin substation for the past 2.5 years, retired last Wednesday, and Sheriff Bob Doyle has yet to pick a replacement. Lt. Ginnodo had been a popular commander, in part because he devoted considerable time to soliciting opinions from community groups and in part because he encouraged deputies assigned to his substation to be polite and helpful in dealing with the public. In general, the substation is responsible for all of West Marin except the San Geronimo Valley (which the Kentfield substation covers), Muir Beach (the Marin City substation), and Northwest Marin (the Sonoma County Sheriffs Office).

FOREST KNOLLS A Guadalupe Place resident at 11:38 p.m. Friday notified deputies she could hear "lots of voices from the [town] park." She said she "believe[d] teenagers are there drinking." A deputy walked through the park, neither saw nor heard anyone, and found no "sign of drinking."
BOLINAS A woman on Wharf Road at 4:11 a.m. Saturday complained that "loud music with a loud bass has been playing for over an hour." When a deputy went to the scene, he found a vehicle whose radio had been left on. He turned it off.
INVERNESS PARK A Balboa Avenue resident at 1:28 p.m. Saturday reported losing a wallet somewhere between West Marin and Novato.
SAMUEL TAYLOR PARK State park rangers and a Highway Patrol officer responded at 7:03 p.m. Friday when a park dispatcher reported a mudslide was covering the westbound lane of Sir Francis Drake Boulevard.
BOLINAS An anonymous man at 9:22 p.m. Friday reported a car had driven into a ditch and that he had seen two men, who were very drunk, get out of the car. He said he did not believe they were injured. When a deputy responded, he found the car was not in a ditch but was partially blocking Terrace Avenue. The cars occupants said they had run out of gas.
MARSHALL Two deputies at 12:08 a.m. Friday stopped a white Chevrolet "high roller," detained two occupants, and searched the vehicle after it did not pull over when first directed to do so. A deputy cited the driver on charges of evading a law-enforcement officer, reckless driving, and speeding.
NICASIO A man at 7:08 a.m. last Thursday notified deputies that thieves had stolen a truck from the county corporation yard, used it to pull their own truck out of the mud, and then returned the county truck to the corporation yard. The county truck "was broken into with force and [its] ignition was punched," a deputy noted. The culprits broke into the county corporation yard by removing a gate, but before leaving, they propped the gate back in place so that it looked undisturbed.
WOODACRE Medics responded at 10:34 a.m. last Thursday when a heart patient could not be awakened although she was breathing.
INVERNESS A resident in her 60s at 3:41 p.m. last Thursday complained that she keeps receiving unwanted letters from a man who was merely a casual acquaintance of hers many years ago in high school.
FOREST KNOLLS Medics and deputies at 6:12 p.m. last Thursday responded to the Castro Street bridge when a man in his 50s suffered a seizure and hit his head when he fell.
MUIR BEACH A resident at 8:33 a.m. last Wednesday reported her ex-boyfriend has on more than one occasion battered her in San Francisco. The previous night in Marin County, a deputy quoted her as saying, "he pulled her out of her vehicle by her hair."
ALPINE RESERVOIR A Marin Municipal Water District ranger at 2:46 a.m. last Thursday reported a "large number" of people, whose truck was parked on the dam, were "lighting off fireworks that are lighting up the whole area."
BOLINAS A resident at 10:59 a.m. last Wednesday told deputies she had been washing dishes an hour earlier when she got into an argument with her 37-year-old female housemate, who "pushed [her] and broke that glass that was in [her] hand." She said the two were now in separate rooms.
BOLINAS An anonymous caller at 2:19 p.m. last Wednesday complained that a 56-year-old townsperson was "yelling and threatening people" on Wharf Road. The caller described the man as "uncooperative and disconnected." By the time a deputy reached the scene, the man had quieted down. A deputy noted the man was "sober at this time, just upset."
SAN GERONIMO A man at 11:39 a.m. March 23 reported finding a "large pile of debris dumped at the recycling area." The man found correspondence in the debris with another mans name and address on it.
LAGUNITAS A caller at 1:54 p.m. March 23 reported hearing someone screaming as a red van sped away on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard.
FALLON A Fallon-Two Rock Road resident at 7:35 a.m. Saturday complained that people have been "dumping garbage and debris in the area of [his] driveway." Deputies agreed to provide extra patrols in the area. Twenty minutes later the resident called back to add that the dumping is occurring primarily between midnight and 4 a.m.
SAN GERONIMO A Meadow Way resident at 11 a.m. Saturday notified deputies that a drunken woman was outside, had threatened the resident, and had threatened to take items off her porch.
FALLON A Middle Road resident at 8:43 p.m. Saturday said her neighbor had "just come over and threatened to kill [her] dogs and threatened to shoot [her] if she didnt knock it off." The woman said the neighbor is in his 50s and drives a pickup truck.
DOGTOWN An elderly man and woman were injured in a two-vehicle accident on Highway 1 at 10:58 p.m. Saturday. Both suffered head injuries but were alert and conscious. Deputies and the Highway Patrol arranged for a rescue helicopter to pick up the pair north of Thirteen Turns.
TOMALES A Tomales-Petaluma Road resident at 6:53 a.m. Sunday reported receiving threats from a trucker in his 40s who parks near her home overnight. She said he had recently acted as if he intended to run over her with his truck. She asked for advice in reaching a "long-term solution."
LAGUNITAS A Barranca Road resident at 8:56 a.m. Sunday reported hearing five gunshots in the area of Arroyo and Barranca roads. A deputy responded, "Its turkey season."
BOLINAS A landlord at 10:49 a.m. Sunday reported having problems with a tenant, who will have been evicted as of Wednesday. The landlord said the tenant was tearing down a shed he built on the landlords property and was "yelling at him and "threatening to turn him in." At 1:02 p.m., the homeowner called again, saying the tenant should be removed from the property because "he is looking in the window with a threatening appearance."
FOREST KNOLLS A Ramona Avenue homeowner at 11:38 a.m. Sunday notified deputies he had arrived at his summer cottage to deliver a couch and found a squatter sleeping in the cottage, which is a dismantled garage. The homeowner, who said the squatter was still asleep in the cottage, noted he did not want to press charges against the squatter but merely have him removed.
BOLINAS A Brighton Avenue resident at 3:13 p.m. Sunday reported five youths aged 13 and 14 were on the beach drinking beer and smoking marijuana. She said they had "hassled" her "about being there."
TOMALES A woman at 6:09 p.m. Sunday complained that a man had been sitting beside the main street for four hours and seemed "disoriented." A deputy quoted her as saying, "He is just singing. He hasnt really done anything wrong, and [she] would just like him moved along." A deputy located the man and checked his identification. The man turned out to be "a drifter out of Oklahoma," the deputy reported. "[He] was advised to move along. He agreed and left."
STINSON BEACH A Calle de la Resaca resident at 8:50 p.m. Sunday notified deputies of a fire on the beach. A deputy found people "who had a small campfire and advised [them] of the county ordinance prohibiting fires on the beach. The fire was put out."
POINT REYES STATION Sheriffs Lt. Ritch Ginnodo, commander of the West Marin substation, has asked The Light to let readers know a campaign to remove abandoned cars is underway in West Marin. Lt. Ginnodo said the Sheriffs Office will arrange to have abandoned vehicles towed off private property, as well as public property, if the landowner signs a release.
