April 24, 2003 Sheriff's Calls

NICASIO – A Lucas Valley Road resident at 12:24 p.m. Monday told deputies a man had "jumped over her gate" and said he was from "a company," an officer reported. The resident said the man asked if her house was for sale and "also jumped over neighbors’ fences."

POINT REYES STATION – Sheriff Bob Doyle at 12:32 p.m. Sunday notified deputies that a man, who had been ejected from a baseball game at Highway 1 and the levee road, might cause trouble after the game. A deputy later reported there were no disturbances when the game ended.

OLEMA – A Los Angeles resident at 2:39 p.m. Sunday notified deputies that while in Olema she had lost her purse containing a wallet with her credit cards and driver’s license. She later called back to say a restaurant had found it.

HICKS VALLEY – Staff at Lincoln School at 2:45 p.m. Monday notified deputies that burglars had broken into the one-room school’s storage shed and stolen property.

BOLINAS – A deputy armed with a warrant at 10:45 a.m. April 15 arrested a man on Nymph Road on charges of possessing psychedelic mushrooms. He had no illegal mushrooms with him at the time of his arrest, the deputy said later.

MUIR BEACH – A Starbuck Drive resident at 3:45 p.m. April 15 reported there was stolen mail along the roadside.

NICASIO – A Lucas Valley Road resident at 9:12 p.m. Saturday reported his steel mailbox had been stolen from its post. The resident said he didn’t know if there had been mail in the box.

WOODACRE – Medics responded at 9:02 p.m. Monday when a child had trouble breathing after colliding with another child at Spirit Rock Meditation Center.

STINSON BEACH – Deputies, Park Service rangers, and county medics responded to Arenal Avenue at 3:16 p.m. Monday when a woman in her 60s appeared to be having a seizure. A man, however, told officers that the woman had fallen and hit her head. She was taken to a hospital by helicopter.

BOLINAS – A Wharf Road merchant at 7:02 a.m. Monday complained to deputies that every day at 6 a.m. he is being harassed by a phone call from a fax machine. An officer gave him advice.

WOODACRE – The postmaster at 7:50 a.m. Monday requested that a blue Toyota van be cited for parking all night in a loading zone. A deputy cited the van but noted the "curb painting is not in good condition."

STINSON BEACH – A staff member at a medical clinic notified deputies at 10:06 a.m. Monday that a 72-year-old woman suffering from chest pains and having problems breathing had been driven to the clinic by a friend. The staff member said the woman had a history of heart problems and was diabetic. A nurse practitioner was present at the clinic, she noted.

WOODACRE – Deputies at 12:08 p.m. Monday received a report that a man had taken a coworker’s "comment wrong" and "threw him against a wall."

BOLINAS-FAIRFAX ROAD – Deputies at 4 p.m. Monday received word that a four-wheel-drive pickup truck with Texas license plates had been spotted 100 feet down an embankment. The location was three fourths of a mile south of Ridgecrest Boulevard.

MARSHALL – A Highway 1 a resident at 9:42 a.m. Sunday complained that people living on a boat anchored just offshore of his house had run their generator until 4 a.m. the previous night. A deputy advised the resident to call officers the next time the noise begins at night.

DILLON BEACH – A woman on Marine View Drive at 12:13 p.m. Sunday said two men in their 20s had just driven out of the campground in a Chevrolet without paying. She said they owed $16 to $32. Deputies were able to trace the Chevrolet by its license plate to its owner.

STINSON BEACH – An elderly woman on Buena Vista Avenue fainted at 3:40 p.m. Sunday but was subsequently able to talk although she was sweating and pale.

OLEMA – A deputy responded at 6:33 p.m. Sunday when a restaurant reported a drunken customer had become rowdy. Restaurant staff had gotten him outside, but he was still hanging around the building. Finally, the customer left on his own.

INVERNESS PARK – The Highway Patrol at 7:38 p.m. Sunday referred a motorist’s call to deputies. The motorist said a man in his 20s, who was possibly drunk, had fallen and suffered a bruise. The man, who was on the ground, refused to give his last name but said he was on his way to a monastery. At this point, the motorist’s cellular phone call disconnected.

POINT REYES STATION – A Highway Patrolman at 11:47 p.m. Sunday arrested a motorist on charges of drunk driving but turned the motorist over to deputies for transportation to jail.

TOMALES – A citizen at 8:21 p.m. Saturday walked into the firehouse suffering from chest pains. Medics determined that a rescue helicopter would not be needed.

STINSON BEACH – A Highway 1 resident at 10:32 p.m. Saturday notified deputies that fireworks were beginning on the beach. A deputy was sent to patrol her area.

DOGTOWN – After a motorcyclist crashed near Thirteen Turns at 11:20 a.m. Sunday, he complained of leg pains. County medics transported him to Marin General Hospital by ambulance.

POINT REYES STATION – A Mesa Road resident at 10:43 p.m. Saturday complained about a loud party with loud drums at the Red Barn. A deputy contacted the organizers who agreed to turn the music down until 11 p.m. when the party would end. At 11:43 p.m., however, a woman complained about the loud music. The same deputy returned to the Red Barn and spoke with the band’s manager, who agreed to turn the volume down and close the backdoor.

FOREST KNOLLS – A woman at 1:33 a.m. Sunday called deputies from Rosario Road to say a 49-year-old man had just hit her in the mouth and side. She said he used to be her boyfriend, but now they are "just friends." At 5:01 a.m. the previous day, a deputy arrested the same woman on a warrant.

DILLON BEACH – A woman on Marine View Drive at 7:44 a.m. Saturday gave deputies a second-hand report that the owner of a campground was just hit on the head by a college-age camper.

LAGUNITAS – A Barranca Road resident at 9:01 a.m. Saturday reported hearing four gunshots fired in the Arroyo Road area.

BOLINAS – A woman on Olema-Bolinas Road at 11:54 a.m. Friday reported that two canoeists in Bolinas Lagoon were disturbing the harbor seal colony. She later called back to say the canoes had gone to the beach at the end of Seadrift Spit.

BOLINAS – A man at 10:31 a.m. Saturday called deputies from Olema-Bolinas Road to report someone was diving in Bolinas Lagoon within 25 feet of the harbor seal haulout. When a deputy arrived on the scene, the seals were undisturbed, and two groups of wildlife observers told the officer they had not seen any diver around the seals.

STINSON BEACH – A man at 12:01 p.m. Saturday notified deputies that three people in canoes were heading toward the harbor seal haulout in Bolinas Lagoon. However, when a deputy called the man back, he said the trio never put the canoes in the water.

NICASIO – Medics responded at 11:24 a.m. Saturday when the manager of a horse stable on Nicasio Valley Road reported a 50-year-old woman had fallen from a horse and suffered a two-inch-long, deep cut and sore back. The woman’s bleeding had been controlled, she said.

BOLINAS – A deputy at 11:28 a.m. Saturday asked two women on Crescente Avenue if they knew where their car was. The car had been vandalized on county parkland.

SAN GERONIMO – A deputy at 11:31 a.m. Saturday caught a citizen dumping trash in one of the recycling bins next to the school. The deputy admonished the citizen, who promised to take the trash to the county dump.

MARSHALL – A young woman at 1:31 p.m. Saturday reported that a motor vehicle driven by her mother and a bicycle ridden by a 30-year-old man had collided on Highway 1 south of the Robert Giacomini Ranch. The woman said her mother had been driving no faster than 30 mph and that the bicyclist suffered a scratched elbow. She said officers were needed to slow traffic at the scene.

STINSON BEACH – A Sonoma Patio resident at 10:34 p.m. Friday reported hearing 12 gunshots. All was quiet when a deputy arrived.

DILLON BEACH – A deputy escorted 30 campers out of a campground at 1:29 a.m. Friday after they caused a disturbance. Another 30 were put to bed.

BOLINAS – A Wharf Road resident at 7:40 a.m. Friday complained of roofers hammering for an hour nearby. A deputy notified the roofers about the county noise ordinance, and they said they would not start work before 9 a.m. in the future.

BOLINAS – A woman at 12:42 p.m. Friday reported a vandal had scratched the driver’s side of her Honda Civic.

DILLON BEACH – The Highway Patrol at 3:42 p.m. Friday forwarded a call from Marine View Drive that two females and a male in a car were brandishing a small handgun, aiming it at cows.

FOREST KNOLLS – The Arizona Highway Patrol at 5:53 p.m. Friday asked deputies to notify relatives here that a town resident had been killed in a motorcycle crash.

STINSON BEACH – The landlord of a home on Seadrift Road at 6:05 p.m. Friday asked a deputy to check on the sanity of a tenant, who was supposed to move out of a rental by the end of the day. An officer gave the landlord advice.

POINT REYES STATION – A woman at 6:20 p.m. Friday reported losing her purse.

BOLINAS – A minister at 10:17 a.m. last Thursday told deputies she feared a woman in town might be suicidal. A deputy checked with the woman’s landlord, who said the woman was "okay."

WOODACRE – A deputy at 10:21 a.m. last Thursday stood by to maintain order so a surveyor could set up his equipment at a Garden Way property.

POINT REYES STATION – A 14-year-old skateboarder was transported to Marin General Hospital at 4:06 p.m. last Thursday when he "fell and cracked his head open" on the "back playground" at West Marin School, a deputy reported. The youth did not lose consciousness.

INVERNESS – A restaurateur at 9:22 p.m. last Wednesday reported that eight drunks were refusing to leave, were yelling, were in a potentially physical confrontation with staff, and were refusing to pay their bill. Two sheriff’s patrolcars responded.

BOLINAS – A woman at 11:31 p.m. last Wednesday complained about a loud stereo in a house on Park Avenue.

STINSON BEACH – A man at 9:56 a.m. last Wednesday reported his car parked along Highway 1 had been vandalized sometime in the past three weeks and he was concerned that property might have been taken from it.

TOMALES – A student at 1:05 p.m. last Wednesday complained that $60 had been stolen from her wallet. A witness related who probably took the money.

INVERNESS – Medics responded when a four-year-old girl, who had been sick a few days, passed out at 8:08 p.m. last Wednesday.

POINT REYES STATION – A man at 10:46 a.m. April 15 reported a Green Toyota stationwagon and a white Ford pickup truck had collided on the main street at Second Street, blocking traffic. No one was injured. Deputies assisted traffic on Highway 1.

POINT REYES STATION – Sheriff’s Lt. Rich Ginnodo, commander of the West Marin Substation, has asked The Light to let readers know that a campaign to remove abandoned cars is underway in West Marin. Lt. Ginnodo said the Sheriff’s Office will arrange to have abandoned vehicles towed off private property, as well as public property, if the landowner signs a release. The substation’s phone number is 663-1151.

 

April 17, 2003 Sheriff's Calls

BOLINAS – A townswoman called deputies from Wharf Road at 11:56 p.m. April 8 to report that a drunk man had been causing problems in a bar and was now trying to get into her van. She also said she had seen Saddam Hussein, but a dispatcher told deputies to "disregard" that part of her call. The woman then said the man had now left the area. Half an hour later, however, an anonymous woman called deputies from another address on Wharf Road to report that lava from a "volcano" was running down the street. The call was then disconnected, and when deputies called back, the woman also reported having seen Saddam Hussein. Deputies could not find him.

FOREST KNOLLS – A Sir Francis Drake Boulevard resident at 9:53 a.m. Monday reported he could hear a man and woman yelling and screaming, with the man threatening to hurt the woman. The resident then said the man appeared to be leaving.

POINT REYES STATION – An Overlook Road resident at 2:36 p.m. Friday complained of "loose cows eating her bushes," noting she "is very upset," a deputy quoted her as saying. The cows were gone when a deputy arrived on the scene.

STINSON BEACH – Medics and deputies responded at 10:20 a.m. Monday when a 29-year-old woman began vomiting blood and reported feeling faint. She said she had been drinking whiskey and Coke the night before and was very dehydrated.

TOMALES – A deputy last Thursday went to the high school to arrest a 17-year-old boy on numerous charges of burglary and petty theft, as well as one charge of possession of stolen property. Deputies believe the suspect, a resident of Point Reyes Station, has for weeks been stealing property from parked vehicles. Lt. Rich Ginnodo said deputies "got help from the community" in identifying the suspect. The Sheriff’s Department is now "trying to match" loot with victims.

POINT REYES STATION – A woman, who had property stolen from her car while it was parked beside Highway 1 two weeks earlier, called deputies at 3:42 p.m. Friday to find out if any of her property had been recovered. She said she’d heard a suspect had been caught.

BOLINAS – A man at 6:15 p.m. Monday complained that a second man, who had been drinking, was verbally accosting people in front of the community center. Although the second man was described as using a walker to perambulate, he had left the area by the time a deputy arrived. The officer eventually found the second man and admonished him.

BOLINAS – A woman on Olema-Bolinas Road at 6:41 p.m. Monday called deputies to report a man covered with mud was walking southbound along Highway 1 beside Bolinas Lagoon. She said he had a long brown beard and was wearing a baseball cap and a red hood. She said she first saw the man at 10 a.m. and in all had seen him six times that day.

STINSON BEACH – A woman at 7:22 Monday told deputies she had won a civil suit against a man in town that day and feared he might retaliate. She said she was concerned for her safety. A deputy told her how to get a court to issue a restraining order against the man.

POINT REYES STATION – Medics and deputies responded to Mesa Road at 12:56 p.m. when a 53-year-old man, who is receiving medical treatment, had difficulty breathing. A rescue helicopter was summoned.

LAGUNITAS – A man at 1:40 a.m. Tuesday complained about someone blowing a "loud bugle" on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard. All was quiet when a deputy arrived, but at 2:44 a.m. he found six adults on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard. After the deputy talked with them, he reported, "they agreed to go to bed."

POINT REYES STATION – A woman at 9:04 a.m. Monday called the substation to find out if it had her purse.

WOODACRE – A Redwood Drive resident at 4:55 p.m. Sunday complained that her neighbor has been "having continual parties for months." Although she has asked the neighbor not to let her guests park in the resident’s driveway, there were several cars parked there at the moment, the resident said.

OLEMA – A citizen at 9:42 a.m. Saturday reported cows were loose on Highway 1. A deputy could not find them.

INVERNESS PARK – Deputies responded to a Sir Francis Drake Boulevard car wreck at 10:28 a.m. Saturday. Officers reported the driver was unlicensed and cited him. Three females from the vehicle were transported to their lodgings in Inverness.

PT. REYES-PETALUMA ROAD – Deputies responded at 10:28 a.m. Saturday when a woman was bucked off a horse not far from Union School. A caller told officers the woman was conscious and alert but bleeding from her head.

WOODACRE – A deputy at 12:01 p.m. Saturday arrested a man on charges of battery against his domestic partner, as well as false imprisonment. Deputies by phone arranged for a judge to issue an emergency-protective order on behalf of the woman.

BOLINAS – A tree one foot in diameter fell across Highway 1, blocking one lane, at 2:36 p.m. Saturday. Bolinas firefighters reopened the highway.

WOODACRE – A deputy at Buckeye Court and Summit Drive at 2:38 p.m. Saturday cited a car that was parked in front of a gate to a fireroad. The ticket carries a $25 fine.

POINT REYES STATION – A deputy on Saturday afternoon reported that five scooters had just been stolen and thrown into the back of a Ford Explorer, which then headed southbound on Highway 1. The officer, who notified other law enforcement agencies, said there were five youths in the SUV, which had Utah license plates.

TOMALES – After a vehicle ran off Highway 1 and through a fence, causing damage, a deputy at 11:37 p.m. Saturday summoned a tow truck.

BOLINAS – Deputies and medics responded at 1:12 a.m. Friday when a 72-year-old woman had an apparent heart attack. A rescue helicopter was summoned.

OLEMA – A man at 11:04 p.m. Friday notified deputies that youths had been tearing down signs at the campground and banging on the Pepsi machine. The man said he was detaining one boy and girl, who were being cooperative, but the other youths had fled on foot.

NICASIO – A mother on Friday got into a verbal dispute with her 17-year-old daughter, who made suicidal statements and tried to jump out of their moving car, the mother told deputies.

FOREST KNOLLS – A man at 8:36 a.m. Friday complained that a construction crew with six trucks was blocking Rosario Road; however, a deputy determined there was sufficient room for emergency vehicles to get past. When the man called again to complain seven minutes later, the deputy contacted a driver who moved a truck.

BOLINAS – A man on Grove Road at 12:03 p.m. Friday complained about his pickup truck having been ticketed for being in a no-parking zone. The man told a dispatcher the road is private and that he wanted to speak with a deputy.

BOLINAS – Firefighters and deputies at 2:09 p.m. Friday responded to Dogwood Road when an oven fire was reported. The fire was quickly put out.

INVERNESS – A couple in their 90s at 2:37 p.m. Friday rammed their garage with their car. Both were shaken up, deputies said.

FOREST KNOLLS –A woman at 5:32 p.m. Friday complained that a man keeps coming by her house and screaming at her from across the street. She said she finds him threatening although he has not made specific threats. A deputy advised both parties about laws concerning harassing phonecalls, trespassing, stalking, and court-issued restraining orders. He recommended that neither person speak to the other.

DILLON BEACH – A Rhode Island resident at 12:14 p.m. last Thursday called deputies here to report that he had made a purchase via the Internet from a company on North Dillon Beach Road. The company, however, sent the wrong product, the Rhode Island resident said, so he sent it back. The company, however, never followed up with the right product, the man added, and when he tried to contact the company, he was told it was out of business. He had sent the company $148, he said. A deputy tried to reach the company by phone but got only an answering machine.

FALLON – Police in Fallon, Nevada, at 4:30 p.m. last Thursday told deputies that a 16-year-old girl had traveled to California to be with a 37-year-old man, for whom a felony warrant has been issued. Deputies looked for the man in the Highway 1-Whitaker Bluff Road area of Fallon, West Marin, but could not find him. They noted the man sometimes uses an alias and gives his age as 26.

FOREST KNOLLS – A Sir Francis Drake Boulevard merchant at 12:33 p.m. last Thursday received a rude message with "cussing" from a 40-year-old customer. A deputy left a message on the customer’s answering machine that he should not call the merchant again.

POINT REYES STATION – A man at 10:42 a.m. last Wednesday reported the windshield had been broken on a derelict vehicle parked in front of his house and that a wine barrel had been stolen.

BOLINAS – The fire chief last Wednesday reported receiving numerous calls about a 29-year-old woman lying on Wharf Road and causing cars to drive around her. He said the fire department was en route to check on her. On April 1, the woman had been arrested in Bolinas on a Napa County warrant for allegedly violating probation in a drug case. The previous day, a man, who said she was a stranger to him, complained that she had punched him in the nose, causing it to bleed.

MARSHALL – On the morning of April 6, a 12-foot-long aluminum boat washed up at a Highway 1 dwelling on the shore of Tomales Bay. So far no one has claimed the boat, so it will be stored at the county corporation yard in Nicasio, a deputy said Tuesday.

BOLINAS – A woman at 7:04 p.m. last Wednesday called deputies from Wharf Road to say a baby stroller and baby items had been left in front of the library all day. She said the library would hold them for the owner.

POINT REYES STATION – A woman at 8:28 p.m. last Wednesday reported that her 38-year-old husband had come to her house in violation of a court-issued restraining order. She said he was drunk.

BOLINAS –A man at 7:39 a.m. April 8 reported that while he was in a business having coffee, a man, against whom he has a court-issued restraining order, came in and started yelling at him.

NICASIO – A man at 11:17 a.m. April 8 complained that new owners of a house had in January agreed he could store some of his property there, but they had gotten rid of some of it. In addition, he said, they are refusing to return the rest of it. A deputy decided the dispute is a case for civil court.

BOLINAS – Firefighters at 12:34 p.m. April 8 responded to Wharf Road when a 48-year-old man experienced chest pains and shortness of breath.

RED HILL – Although three pickup trucks collided on the Point Reyes-Petaluma Road at 4:37 p.m. April 8, no one was injured. A deputy reported that one pickup crossed the centerline, glanced off an oncoming pickup, and hit a pickup behind it head-on. The accident blocked one lane.

FOREST KNOLLS – A "very irate" man at 7:42 p.m. April 8 complained that for five months people have been camping in a tent at Castro Street and Montezuma Road, deputies reported. The man said the campers have been defecating near a creek, which is salmon habitat. A deputy contacted a camper, who agreed to move along. Nonetheless, officers received another complaint about the camper several days after he left, officers reported.

April 10, 2003 Sheriff's Calls

NICASIO – A Public Works Department employee at 7:05 a.m. Monday reported burglars had cut a lock off a gate to get into the county corporation yard, where they stole a generator, as well as gasoline-powered, electric, and hand tools from a large toolbox.

TOMALES – The high school at 10:03 a.m. Monday reported finding a boy in possession of marijuana. The student was cited to the Probation Department.

POINT REYES STATION – A Tomasini Canyon Road resident at 7:33 a.m. last Wednesday reported a backpack and briefcase had been stolen from her home. The loot, however, was found abandoned at the bottom of her driveway. At 9 a.m., a resident two properties away on Campolindo Drive reported a small package had been stolen from her unlocked car. The thief also abandoned that loot at the bottom of the resident’s driveway, apparently disappointed that the package contained only hair dye.

BOLINAS – A man at 11 a.m. last Wednesday reported that a DMV tag had been stolen from his motorhome, which was parked at Brighton Avenue and Wharf Road. He said magnetic Bolinas Border Patrol signs had also been stolen off his sports pickup truck.

BOLINAS –A deputy on Wharf Road at 11 a.m. April 1 arrested a 29-year-old woman on a Napa County warrant for violating probation in connection with a felony case involving possession of narcotics.

FOREST KNOLLS – Firefighters responded to Forest Drive at 8:32 p.m. Monday when a resident reported smelling smoke in her house. Firefighters determined there was no fire.

STINSON BEACH – A Dipsea Road resident at 9:48 p.m. Monday notified deputies that her 85-year-old mother had fallen from the second tread of front steps and may have broken her hip. The daughter said her mother was now unable to walk and was complaining of pain.

FOREST KNOLLS – A resident at 2:29 p.m. Monday told deputies that a man she doesn’t know, but whose last name is vaguely similar to hers, may be fraudulently using her credit card.

WOODACRE – A Pine Avenue resident at 2:41 p.m. Monday reported that an unknown person had opened a credit-card account in her husband’s name and may have fraudulently rung up $8,000 in charges.

STINSON BEACH – Deputies and medics at 4:20 p.m. Monday went to the aid of a man with Parkinson’s disease, who was suffering from a back injury.

FOREST KNOLLS – A Forest Drive resident at 5:39 p.m. Monday reported a $250 camera had been stolen from his locked vehicle.

OLEMA – A merchant at 11:33 p.m. Monday notified deputies that an unidentified animal, which had been hit by a car, was struggling to get off Platform Bridge Road. The Humane Society was notified, and a dead possum was found.

FOREST KNOLLS – An Aztec Avenue resident at 8:13 a.m. Sunday reported a woman in her 40s began screaming at her when she tried to find her cat. The resident said she was "upset about the cat" and didn’t know if the other woman had killed it.

FOREST KNOLLS – Medics responded to Resaca Avenue at 9:20 a.m. Sunday when an 86-year-old man was found sleeping on his floor. The man, who has a history of heart problems, had fallen earlier in the morning.

FOREST KNOLLS – A resident at 10:25 a.m. Sunday reported "a crazy female" was at a vacant house in the area of Montezuma Avenue and Castro Street. He said she didn’t belong there, has been an ongoing problem, and was drunk.

SAMUEL TAYLOR PARK – A ranger at 3:23 p.m. Sunday notified deputies that a vehicle stolen in Utah was in the park. Deputies thought the suspect might have gone to Marin General Hospital but could not find him there.

MARSHALL – A woman on the Marshall-Petaluma Road at 3:35 p.m. Sunday reported that a 16-year-old boy from an "independent-living program" in Napa County was being aggressive and "threatening to kill people." The woman said the teenager had also threatened to take a bus "hostage."

POINT REYES STATION – Deputies at 5:30 p.m. Sunday received a report that a motorcycle had crashed on Highway 1 three miles north of town. Officers were told the rider was conscious, but the motorcycle was on top of him. The biker was complaining of pain in his arm, deputies learned.

INVERNESS PARK – A woman at 4:14 a.m. Sunday reported a vehicle had spun out on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard. When a milk truck stopped to assist the victim, a car ran into the milk truck and then fled the scene.

MOUNT TAMALPAIS – Deputies at 10:57 a.m. Saturday received word that a 40-year-old bicyclist had crashed at Ridgecrest Boulevard and Bolinas-Fairfax Road. The crash injured his leg, left hip, and right knee.

NICASIO – A tree fell partially over the eastbound lane of Lucas Valley Road at 11:34 a.m. Saturday. The tree, which had a 10-inch-diameter trunk, did not fall all the way to the roadway because its roots remained "imbedded in a hillside," officers reported.

TOMALES – A woman at 4:50 p.m. Saturday called deputies from Highway 1 and the Tomales-Petaluma Road to report that in her rearview mirror she had seen a vehicle pull off the road and two males physically fighting. Deputies could not find them.

FOREST KNOLLS – A woman at 8:08 p.m. Friday reported an unfamiliar man called her twice in a week, harassing her with threatening and sexually explicit messages. His number was traced to a San Francisco phone.

WOODACRE – A Maple Road resident at 8:26 p.m. Friday complained that neighbors keep parking on her property, which may be mistaken for a public easement, even though it is posted as "private."

OLEMA – A deputy at 12:39 a.m. Saturday reported a dog, which had been hit by a vehicle on Highway 1, was at Sacred Heart Church. Officers contacted the dog’s owner, and the dog turned out to be "okay."

POINT REYES STATION – Child Protective Services at 8:09 a.m. Friday warned that a child might be the victim of sexual abuse, but deputies determined the concern was "unfounded."

TOMALES – Child Protective Services at 8:24 a.m. Friday also asked deputies to investigate a case of possible child neglect. The danger was "unsubstantiated," a deputy reported.

MARSHALL – A Highway 1 resident at 8:24 a.m. Friday reported a thief had stolen two lounge chairs off a deck.

BOLINAS – A woman at 10:37 a.m. Friday complained about noise from the Resource Recycling Center on Olema-Bolinas Road. A deputy advised the woman about the county law that regulates noises during normal business hours.

FOREST KNOLLS – A Forest Drive resident at 12:30 p.m. Friday reported that someone stole a computer from his house.

FOREST KNOLLS – A Castro Street resident at 2:07 p.m. Friday reported her daughter had bought a car for $600, but when "no title changed hands," she put a stop-payment on her check.

INVERNESS PARK – A Drakes View Drive resident at 7:49 p.m. last Thursday reported an 18-wheel truck was stuck on the roadway and blocking traffic.

POINT REYES STATION – A man at 10:53 p.m. last Thursday reported that a vandal had scratched his vehicle while it was parked along Highway 1.

STINSON BEACH – A man at 1:03 p.m. last Thursday notified he had lost his wallet containing credit cards and $10 to $15 while in town. He was now in San Francisco, he said.

BOLINAS – Deputies took a statutory-rape report at 12:58 p.m. last Wednesday.

DILLON BEACH – The Highway Patrol at 4:32 p.m. last Wednesday reported five or six cows were on Dillon Beach Road. A deputy called several ranchers in the area, trying to find the owner.

PLATFORM BRIDGE – Firefighters at 6:46 p.m. last Wednesday reported a vehicle had run off Platform Bridge Road, and two former occupants were standing by it.

POINT REYES STATION – Sheriff’s Lt. Rich Ginnodo, commander of the West Marin Substation, has asked The Light to let readers know that a campaign to remove abandoned cars is underway in West Marin. Lt. Ginnodo said the Sheriff’s Office will arrange to have abandoned vehicles towed off private property, as well as public property, if the landowners signs a release. POINT REYES STATION – A woman at 1:30 p.m. March 24 told deputies that two students had given a third student a threatening note.

POINT REYES STATION – A resident at 3:30 p.m. March 25 reported that a thief had stolen her purse from her vehicle, which was parked on Mesa Road.

DILLON BEACH – A woman on Marine View Drive detained a group of youths after they allegedly vandalized two picnic tables and chopped up a chair at a campground. She said she found an ax and the chopped-up chair at their campsite. The youths denied being the vandals.

POINT REYES STATION – A woman at 10:50 a.m. Monday reported losing a set of keys downtown.

STINSON BEACH – A woman at 7:02 a.m. Monday said she wanted to drop harassment charges against her fiancé.

CHILENO VALLEY – A man at 9:45 a.m. Monday notified deputies a white Lincoln with its windows smashed was parked beside Chileno Valley Road. Deputies arranged for it to be towed away.

NATIONAL SEASHORE – The park dispatcher at 10:40 a.m. Monday reported a semitrailer carrying a load of phone poles had run into a ditch along Sir Francis Drake Boulevard and was stuck in the mud. The dispatcher said a deputy was needed to help with traffic control.

BOLINAS – A man called deputies from Brighton Avenue at 6:13 p.m. Monday to complain that a woman in her 30s, whom he doesn’t know, had struck him in the nose while he was in a parking lot. He said his nose was bleeding.

FOREST KNOLLS – A Sir Francis Drake Boulevard resident at 6:44 p.m. Monday notified deputies she had found marijuana growing on her roof and suspected her 16-year-old son was to blame. The son cooperated with officers, a deputy reported.

STINSON BEACH – A woman at 2:14 a.m. Sunday told deputies she had heard males yelling for five minutes and that they sounded drunk. She added one man had that moment yelled, "I’m going to kill you."

WOODACRE – A woman called deputies at 7:59 a.m. Sunday to report the Improvement Club had been broken into and a window stolen. She said the culprits also spray-painted religious profanities on a wall.

WOODACRE – A Redwood Drive resident at 3:20 a.m. Saturday called firefighters to report he had just extinguished a fire that was burning neighbor’s flag. The flag had been attached to a fence, he said. He said he suspected the vandalism was the work of a youth dressed all in black who had been seen in the neighborhood slightly before the fire.

WOODACRE – A Redwood Drive resident at 8:01 a.m. Saturday reported a vandal had entered her garage during the night and broken a flag off her disabled-person’s cart. The flag was found burned down the street, she said.

MARSHALL – A woman at 2:56 p.m. Saturday reported a motorcycle had crashed north of Nick’s Cove and that the rider had received cuts and bruises.

OLEMA VALLEY – A deputy at 8:20 a.m. Sunday reported a Highway Patrol helicopter was chasing two motorcycles northbound from Thirteen Turns on Highway 1. The deputy said Highway Patrol officers on the ground were citing numerous motorcyclists for traffic violations and were being assisted with two aircraft.

INVERNESS PARK – Sheriff Bob Doyle at 3:43 p.m. Sunday notified West Marin deputies that an anonymous caller had reported a motorcyclist had crashed at White House Pool. The caller said no one was injured, but a passerby reported seeing pieces of the motorcycle on the pavement and believed there was a male in a ditch.

POINT REYES STATION – A deputy at 10:28 a.m. Sunday responded to Fourth Street because of a complaint of harassing phone calls.

FOREST KNOLLS – A resident at 12:06 p.m. Sunday reported that someone had pitched a tent behind a fence on his property and appeared to be sleeping there. He added that the tent’s mailbox had probably been stolen. A deputy found the temporary dwelling at Castro Street and Montezuma Avenue, but no one was home.

FOREST KNOLLS – A Sanchez Road resident at 3:04 p.m. Sunday said he had asked a driver, who lives in his neighborhood, to slow down. Instead, the resident said, the driver had jumped out of his vehicle, threatened the resident with mace, and threatened to kill the resident’s cat.

STINSON BEACH – A store at 6:37 p.m. Sunday complained about eight drunk men who had been inside knocking things over and were now outside urinating.

BOLINAS – An anonymous caller at 11:39 p.m. Saturday complained about loud music nextdoor. A deputy asked the neighbor to turn the music down, and he said he would.

INVERNESS – Deputies at 1:50 a.m. Saturday received a report of loud music in the area of Cameron Street and Dundee Way. Upon the arrival of a deputy, the music was turned off, and the resident said he didn’t realize it was that loud.

SAN GERONIMO – A Highway Patrolman at 2:38 a.m. Saturday arrested a motorist on charges of drunk driving at Sir Francis Drake Boulevard and San Geronimo Valley Drive.

BOLINAS – A Dogwood Road resident at 7:35 a.m. Saturday notified deputies that during the night someone had moved her car 15 feet. The person who did it might be an ex-boyfriend, she said.

MARSHALL – A man in his 40s fell off his bicycle at Highway 1 and the Marshall-Petaluma Road at 11:10 a.m. Saturday. Deputies said the man was conscious but possibly had a dislocated shoulder and was suffering from road rash. Fortunately for the bicyclist, the woman and man who came upon the accident and reported it were emergency medical technicians.

POINT REYES STATION – A citizen walked into the West Marin Sheriff’s Substation at 1:56 a.m. Saturday and reported youths were throwing water balloons at cars going by on Highway 1. A deputy could not find the youths.

MARSHALL – A Marshall-Petaluma Road resident at 3:19 a.m. Saturday asked deputies to remove two of his friends from his property. The man, who acknowledged he had been drinking, said he’d met his friends at a bar and brought them home. A physical fight had broken out, however, and although it was over, the friends were refusing to leave, the resident said. He added that he wanted to press charges.

WOODACRE – Medics responded to Redwood Drive at 10:19 a.m. Friday when a 57-year-old woman under medical care started vomiting. Medics took her to a hospital.

INVERNESS – Deputies at 6:37 p.m. Friday received a report that a $500 bicycle had been stolen along Sir Francis Drake Boulevard.

TWO ROCK – The Coast Guard at 8:23 p.m. last Thursday requested asked West Marin deputies to back them up. Guardsmen said they had a man who in custody after he broke out a window. They said the man was cooperative and not carrying weapons. West Marin deputies turned the case over to Sonoma County deputies.

CHILENO VALLEY – A deputy and a rancher at 10:21 p.m. last Thursday herded two loose cows off Chileno Valley Road and back into their field.

STINSON BEACH – A woman at 12:09 a.m. last Wednesday told deputies her 47-year-old husband had shoved her, told her to leave, and was now throwing her stuff out of their house.

NATIONAL SEASHORE – A physician at 8:46 a.m. last Thursday notified deputies of a possible sexual-assault case.

LAGUNITAS – A resident in the neighborhood of La Vuelta and Rodeo avenues at 4:51 p.m. last Thursday complained about two boys on dirt bikes using public streets for racing. He said the two were wearing bright-orange colors, but deputies couldn’t find them.

WOODACRE – A Rock Ridge Road resident at 10:05 a.m. last Wednesday told officers he had found an old, high-powered, deer rifle in his mother’s home and would like to turn it in for destruction.
